Proximity Sensor - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I would like to know where is actually the proximity sensor for this TF300 pad. Is it the one besides front facing camera?
I install "Tap Tap App" to switch ON the pad without pressing the Power button. I tried waving my fingers on the sensor beside front camera but its not working. The apps version I tried on my HTC phone with ICS is working.

I don't believe there is one (it's not a phone, so you don't have to turn off the touch screen when you press it against your face). You can probably use the light sensor to accomplish similar results, though.

In that case...what is that thing that located besides front camera?
or anybody got any suggestion to switch on the screen without pressing the power button?

Maybe the light sensor for the auto-brightness function.

I got this using Elixir 2 apps ..seems like it can detect proximity on the tablet.

[Application] Alternative to Power Button!

Alright so my power button seems to be getting a little flaky even with trackball wake so I spent the day thinking about a way to lock the phone without pressing the power button.
I looked into remapping the trackball click (seems like a lot of work) and tried remapping the search button to power off (with no success).
Then after sitting awhile I remembered this app I saw in the HD2 forums called proximity screen off. I thought it would only work for the HD2 but Im so glad I gave it a shot because it works FLAWLESSLY.
I just wanted to share this with everyone who is looking to save whats left of their power button!
All credit of course goes to itsme_4ucz.

In case your wondering the proximity sensor if you are looking a the screen is to the top left of the phone.
The settings are pretty self explanatory. I think you have to check Enable Device Admin and you should check disable in landscape, disable during call, and check disable accidental lock with a 1 second timeout (meaning if you hold your finger/hand/whatever over the sensor for more than 1 second the screen wont lock). Those are just my settings though other settings might work better for you.
Have fun guys!
good find i like it
+1
quite useful
Thanks! Great find. I found "Tap Tap App" which also does the same thing but by tapping the proximity sensor. Works really well so far so good.
Do you think keeping the proximity sensor on all the time is bad for the sensor?

[Q] Proximity Sensor

Hello ppl. I`m using Tap Tap App for unlocking my DS because I don`t want to destroy the power button and my question is this: this app or similar ones (like pocket sensor) can destroy in time proximity sensor?
The proximity sensor sits under the screen, you can't touch it, so howdo you think it could be destroyed? Just by using it, i highly doubt it.
Not that I'm aware but you will run your battery down quicker because of the proximity sensor being on all the time
4 days and 10h (staying on) just speaking at phone and some internet and with tap tap app active. who has an desire s what you are using for unlock screen beside power button? i really don`t want to brake it :|

[Q] on-screen lock?

Does anyone know of a way to lock the screen without having.to reach for the hardware button on the side of the device? There is an iPhone app for jail broken devices that would lock the screen with a swipe left gesture, and it spoiled me not having to move my hand around to the hardware button. A button on the home screen would be ideal, but I'd settle for a widget or a toggle as long as it worked simply.
Thanks in advance for any input.

There is an app called Screen Off & Lock. Didn't work on the old razr but haven't tried it on this one.
If it works you could also use it in conjunction with Wave Control Pro so that waving a hand over the proximity sensor will trigger Screen Off and Lock.

Works perfectly on Maxx HD even though dev says it doesn't on Motorola with stock ROM. Thank you very much.

Fingerprint unlock does not work

Hello,
I always have to press the powerbutton first, before I can unlock the phone via the fingerprint sensor.
Is that normal?
yes, thats how it works on sony phones ... and i must say i like it, because of accidental touches i used to have on nexus 6p
If you are using tap to wake you don't have to press power button just put your finger on fingerprint scanner
doesnt work. Still have to press the power button first.
By the way...tap to wake up does not work on the XZ like it should: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-XZ/Double-tap-to-wake-not-working-properly/td-p/1168519
People are so lazy that they can't even press a button nowadays.

yup, but he is right tap to wake is little off on xz( this feature worked fine on g3) and after awakening screen it should be possible to unlock it by touching fingerprint scanner
Once the screen is on, just touching the sensor unlocks for me.

Yes, this works. I am coming from a HTC 10 and here things are different.
If it helps, check out Gravity Screen, which can mimic Ambient Display-like functionality by waking up the notification screen via either proximity sensor or motion or a whole bunch of other stuff. Personally, I only use proximity sensor so the phone wakes up as I take it out of the pocket, then I just have to tap the sensor to unlock.

Motion Launch

So I noticed that double tap on screen to make it light up isnt always working for me, sometimes i have to tap it for like 10 times before it works and sometimes it doesnt work at all.
Anyone else having this issue?
I have the settings turned on.
Settings --> screen --> motion launch --> first one is on.
Would like to hear your experiences with this.
same here.
i think that you need to raise your phone in portrait first (vertically) before you are able to wake it by double tapping
The phone needs to detect movement before double tap to wake to work as per the example in the motion launch settings.
Double tap to wake use proximity sensor and motion sensor. Do you have a screen protector (or anything else) that interfere with proximity sensor ?
No need to raise it vertically. If you move it frankly on a table, you can use double tap to wake.

Im not using a screen protector yet, also the case i'm using is the one that HTC provides.
The Phone is on my table, i tap on twice to unlock nothing.
I did notice that if you tap above the middle of the screen it'll work however if you use the lower end of the screen it wont work.

The phone needs some kind of motion. Chances are you're pressing the top half of the phone which is heavier, and the bottom half is moving enough for the phone to warrant the double top.
If the phone is perfectly still, no matter where you touch it, double tap won't work.
