[WIDGET][2.1+][FREE & PAID] Strange Clocks Widgets - Android Apps and Games

Strange Clocks is a set of Home Screen Widgets, each of which calculate and display the time in an unusual way. If you're a little bored with the conventional method for telling time - whether it be Analogue or Digital - then there may be a clock widget here for you. If not, please let me know, and I'll see what I can do about creating a new widget.
Widgets Included
1. Binary Clock - Displays the time in Binary, by converting H:M:S into "Binary" values. (3x3 Widget)
2. Decimal/Metric Clock - Displays the time using a Decimal clock - the day is split into 10 hours, which have 100 minutes. Each Centiminute has 100 seconds. (3x1 Widget)
3. Hexadecimal Clock - displays the time in Hex (base-16) format. (3x1 Widget)
4. Octal Clock - Displays the time in Octal (base-8) format. (3x1 Widget)
5. Percent Clock - Displays the percentage of the day passed. (3x1 Widget)
6. Reverse Percent Clock - Displays the percentage of the day left. (3x1 Widget)
7. Backwards Analogue - A standard Analogue clock, running in reverse/mirror image. (3x3 Widget)
8. Word Clock - Displays the time in words (3x3 Widget)
9. Angle Clock - Displays the time as an angle value in Radians - i.e. the angle each hand would be on a standard Analogue clock (3x3 Widget)
Notes
There is a Free and Donate version available. The Free version is fully functional, contains all the clocks, and the Blue/White LCD combination. The Donate version allows you to choose from four LCD background colours and Three LCD Text colours, and has no ads on the information/preferences page (Ads in the Free version DO NOT appear in the widgets).
NOTE: By default, the widgets will run in "Seconds Mode", meaning they update every second. They can also run in "Minute Mode". To do so, open the Strange Clocks app from the Application Drawer, and click the Preferences button, then un-tick the "Update Seconds" option.
Widget Width: All of the widgets a have a width of 3. Many 'phone homescreens use 4 columns, but also allow you to resize a widget. Resizing any Strange Clock widget to use 4 columns will centre the clock on the screen - the widget itself will remain the same size.
EXPLANATION FOR PERMISSIONS USED:
Network communication - (FREE version only) used solely for retrieving the Ads on the Information page
Phone calls - to detect when the 'phone is being used for a call, so that clock can pause.
System tools - Two things. i) to detect when an application is running, and pause the clock if one is running. ii) To detect if the 'phone is on the Home Screen - clock only runs when the Home Screen is active.
Feedback and Suggestions
I welcome any feedback and suggestions. If you find any bugs, or have any ideas, please feel free to post a reply.

Hi,
When changes are made via the dev console in the Play Store, it can take a while for the changes to cascade down through Google's servers. Try again in an hour or so - it'll be available eventually

Ok sir...I will try...thanks:thumbup::thumbup:

Yes, but it still won't allow 2x1, 3x1 and so on, so I have to add multiple 1x1, but I don't know if multiple 1x1 don't take more resources than single 4x1?

Thank you very much, this app is so usefull.. love it!
Funny, why at all is it not allowing portrait 4x1 widget?
Hi
Nice widget!! Good work!
One question: Is there a possibility to change the icons of the chosen programs within the widget? That way I could customize the look of every icon.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hey... Nice app...
But I don´t want to have 4*4 but besides don´t want to have 8*8... I want to have 6*6 on my screen... can you make that? Maybe in the next release of Multicon? Would be so nice...

Not really...but I like having more space on the homescreen...Density cuts the text on the ICON so this app remedies that problem...
EDIT:
Is there a way to change stock icons for wifi/airplane/brightness/etc toggles? Thanks again for this great apps. I love it.

Can we add shortcuts for folders or may be in next version ?
Excellent app. Thank you very much.
Only request I would have is for more horizontal configurations by "default" (instead of stinging along a bunch of 1x1). Anyhow, very nice app, freed up a ton of space and improved the appearance of my home screens.
I agree with the horizontal configuration. One other thing I think would be nice is if the icon you select would highlight like the regular icons.
To "" - Awesome application. Everything is OK, but.. Can add icons automaticly, not one by one? I have more than 100 little icons on just one screen, and add every one of them is much time eating Samo function, that add all installed applications would be very high rated.

[TRICK] Hidden App Launchers (Ninja Apps)

I might be late to the party but here we go anyway:
HTC Evo: Invisible App Launchers (Ninja Apps)
The Video Tutorial:
The Text / Image Tutorial:
What you will need:
- An HTC Evo (probably works on other phones, but I don't care about other phones)
- A Custom Launcher Program (Launcher Pro & ADW EX are what I have found this to work on)
- A Transparent Icon (You can download this one)
- A Wallpaper With App Images built into it (You can use this one)
The process:
Here we have our main screen...you guys are lucky I just switched to the cm7 RC1 and did a full wipe otherwise you might have had to wait for the apk release.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Basics first, we need to switch to a wallpaper that has App images designed into it...the one I have is really nice but there are others out there. Look.
After that we will switch to the first screen we will be adding our hidden launchers too. On this screen you will long press to bring up the "Add To Home Screen" selector. Select the "Custom Shortcut" and then choose "Pick Your Activity." From the next screen you choose what kind of Activity you want, an Application, Music Playlist, etc...After making your selection. Choose ok and your launching icon will be added.
Repeat the above step until your icons cover the launching area of your desire. You can go into ADW or Launcher Pro settings and edit the number of columns and rows on the screen. This will help somewhat with making icons cover the icon area from the wallpaper. For mine I left it at 6 rows and 4 columns.
After all your icons in place it is now time to make them transparent...Long press over the icon and in ADW you will select "Edit." press the icon in the edit screen and choose the transparent icon you downloaded earlier in the tutorial. Repeat this process until all of your icons are transparent.
YOU'RE DONE...
Some tidbits and problems you may run into:
- They are kind of invisible but I still see the icon text... You need to go into the settings for your Launcher Program and select "Hide icon Labels."
- I can't get the icons to fit right over the images... This is not an exact process and will requires some trial and error, as well as, tinkering on your part. Some things you can adjust to help this: Adjust your wallpaper to different sizes and display areas, Adjust the amount of columns and rows displayed on your screens.
- Where can I find more wallpapers like this? My best advise is to look on the internet, it's how I cam across it. I do make custom wallpapers, but, they are not free ($1.99) donations.
If you have any more questions please post them and I will address them as timely as I can.
this is awesome thanx
Umm, there's nothing new about this. Lots of people have posted themes that use this method. I've been doing this since last summer. This might be useful as a tutorial on the basic setup of this method. Also, of course it will work on any phone. What is the apk file going to do? Maybe I'm missing something...
great
Wow! I hadn't heard of this before, but i love the idea and the tutorial. THANKS!!! I'm gonna have to scour for more wallpapers. Is there anyway to take the wallpaper you have in a layered version and remove a few of the images and swap in a few of my own?? ex. i would take out the facebook logo and put a cartoon pic of my wife/kids for my quick dial apks. etc... anyway, thanks for the heads up!!
adam
EDIT: btw, what widget are you using on the wallpaper that show the 4 day weather icons? (or what widget and theme or icon pack)...thanks in advance
I have been looking for other wallpapers with app images built in and no luck. Any suggestions?

Wouldn't the definition of a donation be giving to a public and/or charitable cause? You aren't offering the wallpapers for free to the community, then allowing people to donate to your cause. If that isn't the case, it sounds like you are charging for a service, not encouraging a donation? Unless you plan on offering the wallpapers to all once the initial request for a custom donation inspired wallpaper is received?

I've been looking also for something like this for quite some time also, as I've been using the blank icons with wallpapers to some extent already, just not all over. Just along the edge like this:
The full setup is attached in the Scrolling 2.0 Theme in my sig which also has links on how to set it up from the original author. I also created some wallpapers other than the honeycomb one. PM me if if you would like to check them out.
Its hard to locate wallpapers with the icons pictures built in as I'm not sure what to search for exactly or what the "official" name of this type of wallpaper/setup is.

I could be wrong about what he's using, but you can achieve the 4 day weather forecast like that with the Beautiful Widget's Beautiful Weather Widget. You just need to download that skin, and then disable todays current weather.
I achieved the same widget look using the Beautiful Weather Widget in the screenshot above. Just changing the skin (the skin you would be looking for to achieve that effect is called BrushedInk&Black), hiding the background, and hiding the current weather. Beautiful Widgets is a paid app, but its worth it for the couple bucks it costs, it looks great and is highly customizable.

Looks nice. Tap to open app is cool. I will be honest. Right now it's just like every other digital clock out there. Some things I can see that may set you apart.
1. A different name. everything is named "X clock" name it something like "Tom's Super Sexy Timepiece of the Future"
2. Add a feature to adjust scale. I have a big open space on my home screen for a nice free digital clock.
3. Integrate a multi-alarm system and/or datebook depending upon your level of ambition
4. Animations? Have a little man in a funny suit blow a horn on the screen when the alarm goes off and you have to punch the little [email protected]#tard to shut off your alarm
5. Multi-language? I dont speak any others but I have heard some people do
6. Borders around the clock
7. ability to control font and scale of date separately
who the hell am I? Lol. Looks nice, will continue using it. Does it auto-update?

The third post told me 'Todo'.
Giving this a try. Just got a new base/standup charger and was looking for an app like this. Will give it a shot.
Ok. Here's a screen shot from a Galaxy S3.
Suggestions: Configure the apps or toggle them. I personally don't really need any of those accessible.
Option to change said apps.
Alarm access and/or display option.
See, I'm lookin for a clock to turn on while charging but keeping my display on I can force the display (via NfC and load this app) so aside from the little bit of suggestions I posted, the clock itself is exactly what I need/will use.
Keep at it dev.

Look`s nice on my Sensation
Im currently looking into supporting lower density devices (Im still in early stages so stay tuned!)

Brill :good: :good:
Nice work Timmo,
i just installed it, and i found a bug -
i open the app, tap on the clock and the screen changes to a new screen:
Analog clock,
digital clock,
date
battery level.
when i tap on the clock, it resets the clock to 12:00, January 1st 2013 and then goes back to the correct time.
Widgets work fine.
Greetings,
Looking good, will try it.
What is that font?? It looks great!! :laugh:
Working great on my SIII.
Suggestion: would be nice if you could have an option to automatically switch screen to the clock nightmode when charger is connected
Samsung S3 crashing down
Nice App, tried it in my Galaxy S3 with Omega ROM V42.3 and crashed down, hardly no chance to restart the phone!
Sorry
