Hello, Sir.
I'm a long time lurker and not the first time poster. Known to troll occasionally.
Does this tool kit work for backing up ICS ROMs?
That's a fair question...there was one ICS tester who provided some valuable feedback and then fled the country.. (or the 50 states anyway)
I believe the ROM backup/restore will work as long as /system, /data, and /dbdata are the only places where ROM information resides.
The toolkit will not backup kernels or modems, but those are easily obtained and flashed from other sources...

Troll'r here....yes it does work for backup of what u call i c s...?
Thank you, kind sirs.
Since I'm not too much a noob, and you took the time to answer me, I slapped thanks on your posts because you have responded to my question.
Thank you again. Now i just have to figure out how to get the boot animation to work.
removal if needed
if god forbid, the user wants to remove this from his/her phone. How would that do accompllished? and how does this work with the wipe and reload? doesnt the process of flashing delete this program as well?

not sure what you are asking...this is a zip file you run like installing a ROM
"It's a way to do many useful things in CWM recovery mode via a Touch-Enabled interface,"
>it is a tool used in CWM not within the ROM...
>if you go thru the program has a few questions or prompts to ensure you want to do what you are clicking...
>once you wipe and reload...and boot out of the program and cwm the program closes....does not del the program...it resides on your sd as a zip file like a ROM file until you go back into CWM to exe it again...
>the tool is not visible in the ROM...
make sense...?

Best way to figure out what the toolkit does is to run it from CWM and try it out. Make sure you run a config backup and a full Rom backup first thing. That way you can undo any changes you make. In the tweaks section there are also undo options for any init.d or build.prop tweaks you add.
If something seems unfamiliar (i.e. "what the heck is init.d?"), Google is your best friend.
thanks

The aroma tool kit resides on your internal sdcard, where you would place your downloaded program..just like the ROM or a cwm flashable. Flashing a ROM only wipe the system drive, not the 14gb internal drive where we usually store or flashable zips. Deleting it is simple: locate it and delete it. Every time you use it, you need to flash it in cwm.

Now I have a very serious question for the Tool Kit.
When I put my phone on vibrate, it does nothing for me. I even tried clipping the phone to the front of my pants. Nope, nothing, didn't feel a thing.
Is there any way of increasing the intensity of the vibration so that I can at least feel the vibration and have it do something for me?

Check the following first:
1. Go to settings-->sound, enable haptic feedback, change vibration intensity (one below), then turn off haptic feedback.
2. From same sound menu, check your vibrate setting - set to always or only in silent mode. If the latter then use the down volume button to move sound all the way to zero. When it reaches zero, your phone should vibrate.
If you don't feel a vibrate from this you may have a busted vibrator (Joe? Any suggestions here? )
Check the notify bar to see if your sound icon shows as silent with a vibration indicator (usually a squiggly line - but this may vary by ROM).
This app appears to allow some customization of vibration based on specific contacts for SMS and perhaps inbound calls: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.base2apps.vibes&hl=en
Other than that, there may be a kernel option to change vibrate intensity. If the above don't work for you, and you do still get some level of vibrate, I'll look into it when I'm working on my next kernel update.

Can we know more abt. the emergency uclb3 packaged with this toolkit?
Is it rooted, zipaligned, deodexed, debloated, with lidroid toogles etc?
The UCLB3 ROM included here is derived from Dman's rooted, deodexed, zipaligned base. I've updated superuser, and debloated all the crap out of it, plus a bunch of other apps that would be included in a typical rom but removed here in the interest of conserving space while staying true to the intent... something to flash in the event of an emergency - i.e. no roms on sdcard, or for devs and testers, something to flash as a "control" to compare against... i.e. flash this, apply your change to see if it causes the same behavior as on your own rom...

Hi and Thanks for coming to check out this thread. Got my Nexus S yesterday and there are a few niggling annoying things that perhaps just might be a setting somewhere I have missed and you might be able to help me
1. Message Light - On my BB when I had a missed call, sms message etc. A flashing light kept going. Is there any way to get this going?
2. Facebook/Twitter notifier - My old phone would notify me (just like an sms message) when a facebook or twitter notification came up. Now on my Nexus, I have to physically go into Facebook/Twitter to check.
Thats pretty much it for now. If I can think of anything I will edit. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond.
If rooted there is bln along with kernel that supports it.
I added cell number in the Twitter itself so I get text from then when I get direct message

I think this belongs in Q&A but here goes
1) If you are rooted, flash any rom you want (or stay stock rom) and then flash a custom kernel with Backlight notification (BLN) support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949292
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973125
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936219
for example. Then install BLN from market. There's the PRO version which offers more functionality but requires a token donation to the developer.
If you do not like BLN or not rooted (i think noLED doesn't require rooting, my memory might be wrong), you may download noLED from the market. I personally preferred this as i'm using a super amoLed and it doesn't eat that much batt and the notification is more visible and also i'll be able to know what exactly is the notification (like if it's gmail, email, miss call, whatsapp etc)
For now, to me at least, either apps may (i said may as i'm not sure if it's just my phone or in general) cause the phone to freeze occasionally and you'll have to do a batt pull.
2) It's under your settings in facebook and twitter app. Go to menu button (2nd from left) when you are at the fb and twitter app and choose the frequency of notification and the sound/vibration means etc. Personally, i wouldn't advise having the two applications update as frequently as you would on a BB especially if you're a heavy user on the games/browsing etc. I set mine to update every 3-4 hours with no notifications except for personal messages. Any other times i need n update, i'll do so manually. BB batt life is way better than an android phone but in terms of functionality and customisation, nothing beats the NS.
And if you have not rooted, please do so and read up in the forums on the wonders of an unlocked bootloader and having root.
A little too scared to root my phone at this point. I have about 5 hours experience with an android phone so bricking would break my heart
Looking at this guide atm though

I think there is some confusion here...
There are no flashing lights on the Nexus S.
Simply because that blinking LED light (or whatever it is) is not in the hardware, so there is no "fix" for it.
However it is possible to have the whole screen flash with some modifications/roms etc but I don't think this is what you meant...

There is technically a "fix/workaround" with BLN. It basically is the same as the blinking led lights, video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAqqr2s_4Ks
we all owe a hell of a thanks to Isaacj87 for getting miui over to the triumph.
i take no credit for [email protected]#$%^&*() i am just posting this link so people who dont go to android forums can find this!
to flash this you will also need issacj87's CWM custom made for the triumph.
here you go guys and again be sure to thank isaacj87 for all his hard work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damages (bricking/phone ruining) occurred while flashing or using this ROM. By using this ROM, you understand that that I am not liable for any or all consequences of using this ROM. If you don't know what you're doing, DON'T TRY IT. Use at your own risk!
SPECIAL NOTE: These builds are not being built from source (only partially). This port is technically a port of a port of a port (DHD-CN --> DHD-EN --> MI410 --> Triumph). I can only account for the changes I made personally. There are no records on what was changed up to this point from elsewhere. This is something to consider.
Also, since I don't have the source for this ROM, it's being worked on with a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. If I can manage to fix something, it'll get fix. Since it was originally in Chinese, some of the language translations will be strange. I'm using code from CM7, building said code, and cramming it into MIUI. Since MIUI and CM7 share a lot of the same code, this has been working fine so far. But remember: I can't stress how much I don't want complaints and bug reports. I'm doing this for my own amusement and I'm just sharing what I've got.
I'd like to put up the the changes I've made to this ROM, but, basically, it would be useless. I used whatever tools I could find to decompile the various aspects and apply changes, but I wasn't able to save any of the decompiled stuff in any readable form. However, the changes to kernel I made will always be available. You can view those changes on my Github: http://github.com/ikarosdev
Overall, everything has been working quite well and I hope your happy with the results.
What works:
BOLD=NEW
RIL/3G/1xRTT
Audio/Call recording
WIFI
USB Tethering
Bluetooh
Keymapping
2D/3D/EGL/GPU
LED (dual-mode)
Capacitive button lights
Screen rotate/orientation
Touchscreen with multitouch/screen rotate capable
USB mounting
CRT screen off animation
Proximity sensor
Camera (front and rear) [see next section below]
GPS
HD 720P video recording/FFC video recording
MMS [see next section below]
Torch
Google Talk with video/voice chat
Wired headse
What partially works:
Camera (FFC output during video calling and snapshots is not mirrored.)
MMS (I can send, but not receive. Always comes back complaining about something.)
What doesn't work:
Ambient light sensors
WIFI hotspot (DON'T ASK, WON'T FIX)
720p video recording (Doesn't work in MIUI camera app. I've heard reports this works with a 3rd-party app)
HDMI out/mirroring (I don't have any way of testing this. Maybe it does work.
Known issues:
These builds, as mentioned, are not being built from source. As such, measures were taken to get everything working. Don't be surprised if you get a FC or eleven. Furthermore, these are development builds (a.k.a not stable). Some of you may be able to live with it, some won't.
Being similar to CM7 (at the core), the proximity sensor goes wonky during phone calls.
Recovery:
I also have my own CWM port for the Triumph. Since I got everything working, it's been running like a champ. I've themed it a bit to make it unique, but it's still Clockwork recovery at its core. I've currently put this up (minus the custom colors and graphics) for review to be included in ROM Manager. You can watch its progress here: http://github.com/koush/ROMManagerManifest/issues/311
The keymapping in my recovery is:
- Volume up/down to navigate
- Menu to select
- Back to go backwards
Downloads:
Recovery:
NOTE: tjstyle's recovery (4.0.0.9) will not work. You have to use a recovery for the Triumph.
NOTE: You must use a recovery with EXT4 capabilities. The one below should be just fine. If you're already using a recovery with such features, you don't have to change it.
ROM

CWM

OLDhttp://www.mediafire.com/?0h8uph17x1w30e8
**Instructions on how to install isaacj87's CWM**
1. download the recover img listed above
2. unzip the file using winrar or any other unzipping program
3.turn your triumph all the way off
4. unplug the usb cable for your triumph
5. hold the volume down+power button on your MT
6. the screen should come up as black with small white text in the top right hand corner. the text will keep repeating but dont worry this is normal.
7. plug the usb cable into your MT and computer and let the drivers install.
8. once they are finished installing, go to computer and you should see a new device called mobile. click on it then click on the image folder.
9. there you will see the recovery.img file. take this and make a back up of it on your desktop or in a safe place where you wont lose it.
10. next drag issacj87's recovery.img to the folder and copy and replace the current recovery.img. once this is finished you can eject your MT and the only way to get it out of bootloader mode is to do a battery pull.
11. after the phone is off hold both volume keys and also the power button and it will boot into isaacj87's cwm 4.0.1.5 recovery =)
12. from there do a full wipe of the system and D cache and user data and then you can flash MIUI!!!!!
Enjoy!!!!!!!
THANK YOU AGAIN ISACCJ87!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MMS has been fixed. I've been sending and receiving all day today. Clean pics, I might add.
I've also went ahead and bumped us up to 1.10.14. It will be released soon.
I've been investigating some fixes for the data drop issue. I think I may have found something that might work. I'm going to try it first in CM7 and if it works, it should be applicable to MIUI as well.
Happy MIUI-ing guys.
P.S. I would make an "official" thread here, but it seems most Triumph users frequent Android Forums. I'll make an effort to keep an eye out here as well.

I found something that might fix this problem (i.e. a real solution). Tickerguy also worked on a solution that seems to be working. He's going to test it for a couple days to confirm, but so far it looks good.
Once he shares his fix, I'll try and "code" (smali) it into MIUI.
i cant wait for this next update.
Please HELP me, my phone's screen turns off/locks when I try to make a call. It doesn't turn back on when I press the home key or power button (only the button lights come on). The call successfully goes on even when the phone locks but I can't end it though. The only solution is to pull out the battery or plug it in to charge (ac or usb). It's really weird that when I plug it to charge or out from charging, the screen comes back on.*And yes this problem comes ONLY when I call and about 90% of the time, otherwise the phones perfect. And of course, I tried everything from factory resetting to flashing tons of stock/custom firmwares like XXKPU, XXKPQ, XXKPE, DDKP1/2/3, MIUI etc and lots of kernels but nothing fixed it.
I am not exactly sure when the problem started (I mostly use my other phones to make calls) but I am 100% sure the problem started when I was around the following configuration,
Firmware: Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXKPQ
Kernel: UC kernels (V09 3009, V10, V12, V13)
Mods: battery mod from UOT Kitchen, icons ( battery, wifi, status bar) with Rom ToolBox and I think video camera fix by shriom (was flashing a lot of "bad things" lately )
Can this be a hardware or software problem? I think it's a software problem from the looks of things because if it's hardware then some other bugs should come along, right? It's surprising that reflashing/resetting can't fix it. Please help me, which firmware (or anything) can I flash to fix this, or how can I do a SOLID factory reset (whichever way) to hopefully fix this, PLEASE HELP. DON'T say I have to visit service center, I have never been there!!!

Flash a rom with kernel 3.0, it disables the faulty proximity sensor.
Just flash xxkpe along with .pit file.
Then xxkpq or xxkpu whatever u want.
Then flash xda bam kernel v13. In my opnion it is most stable kernel.
Dont set any screen off profile in set cpu.
Most of the time select governer which will give u best performance like performance, lagfree, ondemand etc.
Dont use any script. It spoil the smooth functionality of phone.
Dont use frequncy below 300 mhz or above 1ghz otherwise it create some instabilty in basic fuctions of phone

You've gotta point man. I am sure it's proximity sensor related, but what does it have to do with screen locking & not responding? I also read some other people's similar problem, but their was when they locked the phone. The problem is exactly the same, the screen doesn't come on until you plug it to charge.

What firmware are you using, DDKP3? I can't see any "proximity" related stuff in my build.prop

The line is not correct. Add this one in /system/build.prop
Code:
gsm.proximity.enable=false
Edit: I'm not sure if you included or not "=false" in the string as geekynoob wrote, but that's what I get from your posts.

Code:
gsm.proximity.enable=false
Edit: I'm not sure if you included or not "=false" in the string as geekynoob wrote, but that's what I get from your posts.

Yes, I did enter exactly as geekynoob said "gsm.proximity.enable=false", I was just too lazy include "=false" in my post. I also tried adding "=0" but still no result.
Issue is fixed by flashing a Rom with Kernel 3.0
I have this weird small ring that makes my touch screen act very strange. What happens is when I try and do something on the screen, this weird ring will move around the screen instead. It does track my directions properly (when I move my finger to the right, it also moves to the right) but the actual location of the ring isn't under my finger. I need to know how to deactivate it. It is very hard to explain, so I attached a picture of it instead. This isn't the small dot that you can activate in Developer Options that follows your touch. I know that much.
I'm sorry if this was posted in the wrong forum, but bashing me and calling me a noob, or what have you, won't help me or you!
Doesn't seem to be an issue with the screen hardware. Please provide more details like which device and what model, which ROM and what all you did, when it started, etc.
check developer options
The device is an ancient Xperia X10 with PAC-man ROM JB installed.
This problem started when I installed CrossBreeder.
I flashed it through CWM, no problems. Booted and everything, but when I wanted to unlock the device, then this ring appeared.
I checked the build.prop to see if anything looks astray, but nothing looked out the ordinary (I can still navigate with great difficulty )
I already said that Show Touches isn't checked in Developer Options (and it doesn't have this type of effect anyway)
The ring works very similar to using a trackpad on a laptop (basically exactly like using a trackpad, just replace the mouse pointer with the ring!) My input area for actual screen selections is restricted to the ring. Where the ring is, is where I can make a selection.
I luckily had a newish nandroid backup, so I restored it. I just want to know what I can do so that this doesn't happen again, when I flash CrossBreeder for a second time (that is if I want to flash it )
I suggest you ask about this issue in the CrossBreeder thread here on XDA. See if some other members have had similar experiences.
No idea why I didn't think about that. Thanks a dozen
Remember, we all were a noob once. Maybe twice, but definitely once
Edit: I posted it here because I thought I would gain a larger audience (therefore problem would be solved faster)
Hello
I just bought this phone, and despite navigating the entire settings menu, I am unable to turn up the volume for the ringer. The vibrate icon shows on the status bar,and a notification on the quick settings shows that I'm on vibrate mode.
What have I overlooked??
Edit..disregard.i found the little sound rocker volume above the power button. What is the purpose of it since that's what settings are for ?

When your in a meeting or someplace where your attention is required and you don't want your phone blaring out it's downright disrespectful. And pulling out your phone to unlock and put in silence mode, says a lot to people. Now pulling it out, and hitting the slider makes people curious about the phone, it's just convenient. And with heptic feedback, you can feel what mode your on without even pulling it out.

Thank you. That makes sense. You sound like an expert on this device. I've received a few texts, but there's no light to blink. How can I get notified when the screen is off?
Also, where can I start looking to upgrade it to Android 10 and rooting?

Please understand my respectful reply...but it seems to me that you know very little about this phone...and you want to root it? My serious recommendation is that you stick with stock, go to the Play Store and install Oxygen Updater as this app will get you the latest available updates for the 7 Pro. Stay away from root, and boot loader unlocking as this will wipe the phone and several people have problems doing this. Just stick with stock.

I would agree with you on that, about sticking with stock in OOS. But, Root gives you access to tweak your device to your liking, and add extra security features. Android isn't Android unless your running at Root level. If your new, then I'd suggest you read first, and it helps if you know Linux.

Can you elaborate? What features?
I just upgraded to 10.0.2, and I will root it tonight following arden144's guide. I may not know all the technical details of this device yet, bit I've rooted every phone that I've owned.
