I was reading about MIUI porting, anything I was able to find indicated CM7 was required, or is that just for porting via WinRAR file swapping?

I know C, Java, a little (very little) of asm and others languajes. But I really want to learn how to do it. Have looked it up on google, but I can't find anything "actual" (All I find is for Hero o G1 xP)...
Of course, I don't expect someone to explain it to me, but with a simple guide or something to "give me an idea of how to do it" It'll be great

I got a reputation for stupid questions. XD
Well it's damn complex and tough to PORT roms and so only people like marcell, hill beast, apollo5801 are able to port. Even don't know and i would love to learn. But u need to to more than just Java. U also need to know how the android system works.
BTW hey jazux. Where were u? I read that ur g3 was for repairing.

Marcellusbe is already porting cyanogenmod and has made very good progress. He still has quite a way to go so maybe you can help him somehow with your knowledge.

Porting involves replacing the drivers/libs of other devices roms with our rom and flashing them. Easy to say but theres alot more to do. Well the basic thing is getting the drivers to work though.

i learned how to compile from source using a guide in marcellusbe's cm7 thread.
also go to cyanogen wiki and there is a guide. one specific to our device is not available but instead u can use the same guide on the wiki for galaxy s2 or somthing. if u need help pm.

His name is Tom, he's being silly.
No one here has created a kitchen, and so far none of the devs have any interest in creating one. Kitchens lead to ROM creators who have no understanding of how their devices work, and this is a bad thing.
I suggest that you try to find MikeyMike's ROM authoring guide, I think it's somewhere in the Captivate forums. There are a bunch of other guides too.
I suggest starting small - learn about theming and deodexing, then try to perform some small mods (e.g. modifying an existing ROM with a small CWM-flashable mod), then think about full ROMs after you've learned the smaller stuff.

I understand that but I hear tha latest version can work with wefi and that's all I need I'm not worried about calls cause I can always call back lol

Please, can someone tell me how many where's miui/cm X for this phone thread are there going to be before people realize we need a kernel source or that we already have a few work in progress threads going?
Just me semi venting.
People we have some kick ass devs already working on it, but they are stalled for one reason or another. Please be patient and eventually the Samsung gods will play nicely with us soon.
Until then, play with some of the kick ass roms already made for this phone. They worked very hard to make them, so let's work with what we have til then.

i wasnt asking for a new forum to be made i was simply asking for a download link to the latest miui version cause i wanted to see if the hype about the wefi was true or not so just chill out if you dont like what cha read go do something else

They wont do it just cause someone else is asking them to do it. Every developer develops what is he capable or comfortable developing. U cant tell them what to do . Let them do what they are comfortable doing.
Since the devs are busy on Kernel 3.0 they cant look into this stuff. Maybe later sometime down the lane if they want to they will .

Our sl is in one of the many devices abandoned by samsung. Other devices have a PROPER STABLE KERNEL (readymade). Which we dont!
But people like dhiru adi and lola have saved our device. You are not paying these developers , they are doing because android is like their passion . If u want a stable rom make it yourself and dont discourage devs!
