Ok, Make sure Fastboot is unchecked under settings > power.
Then power off and hold volume down and power button.
Or use adb reboot bootloader
Or if you're rooted, use an app like quickboot.

How to find out S-On or S-Off / Booting Into Hboot

Turn off the phone.
Take out the battery for 1-2 seconds and put it back in.
Hold volume down while pressing the power button.
Phone should now boot into Hboot mode. You can tell what version of Hboot and whether or not it's secured or not by looking at the top line.
It looks like the hboot interface hasn't really changed since the original G1.
You can also just go menu settings power and turn off fastboot then power off normally and boot in to hboot normal

if you're already running a custom ROM like CyanogenMod or AOKP, then hold the power button, choose restart, and choose bootloader. once it boots up into the white screen with some text, use the volume keys to move up and down, and the power key to select, and select the first option. should take you to Hboot.
but honestly the best way to get right to hboot is completely shut the phone down (or pull batter), and hold the volume down, and WHILE STILL HOLDING, press the power button. never failed for me.

[Q] Have to remove battery to get to HBOOT?

In order to get into HBOOT / recovery, you normally power on the device while holding volume down. This doesn't seem to work for me, rather the phone boots up (and *really* fast, its almost as if its not booting at all). To get at HBOOT, I need to open the back, remove the battery, and I hit the power button for good measure (not sure if that is needed), then it works....
Anyone else experiencing this, or know a way around it?
S-OFF, rooted, CWM Recovery 4.0.0.9
hit the menu button and go into settings > power > and uncheck "Fast Boot"
Then, power down your phone and wait about 10 seconds, hold the volume down button and repower it and it will boot right into H-Boot.

Yeah, even with fastboot disabled i get impatient and hate waiting the 10 seconds. I tend to pull the battery anyways to save myself the wait lol
Why did HTC have to go and give a function a name that is already used by another Android utility anyways ha ha

If you have root, you can try Quick Boot from Android Market. Let you reboot into recovery mode without holding down volume down button.
or "adb reboot bootloader"
true ha ha ha
Or go into settings.......power........uncheck fastboot.....then turn off phone. Wait 10 sec. Hold down volume key and power and bam your in hboot. Enjoy.

I find the Quick Boot app for rooted users to be quite handy for booting into recovery or bootloader and I keep a shortcut for it on my homescreen. I don't use it to power off or restart though. It's something to look into if you find holding volume and power at the same time to be awkward and inconvenient.

Power button help

My power button is kinda dead I can shut off the phone and turn it on but going through recovery is impossible. How can I still flash roms

Do you mean that in recovery it will not select items?

I use Fix Broken Pro widget to lock the screen and No Lock app to unlock using volume down button.
I go to recovery using adb or Rom Manager. Then use back, menu, search, home buttons to go back, Scroll Down, Select and Scroll Up respectively.
Yea I can't select options in recovery or it'll continuously select reboot bootloader and I can never get into recovery mode

I guess I need to learn to flash through adb

If you are using cwm recovery, you don't need power button. Touch buttons are enough.
In CWM, do you see a message that says back button has been disabled? Somehow last night this was happening to me but in my case I simply pulled the battery and rebooted and all was fine. If it's acting up in the bootloader though I would suspect you have a hardware issue.

When I hold volume up and the power button to boot into the bootloader I can't select reboot recovery it just keeps selecting reboot bootloader since my power button is messed up

Actually issue resolved thanks to rom manager

Cannot enter fast boot/recovery via Power+V down

Just like the title says. If I press volume down and power with the phone off it will boot the system and not take me to fast boot mode as expected. I can access recovery and fast boot if I boot the phone and chose the desired setting in the advanced power menu.
What gives?

Entering downloader mode ??

I'm rooted, unlocked, & ran the clock work recovery tool. My only question is I can not enter boatloader mode using the power button & volume down key. Phone just always just shuts off. Any suggestions ? Thnx

app called quickboot
To get to the bootloader, you have to hold the volume down button then power. Hold it til the bottom 3 buttons stop flashing. Then release the power button while still holding the vol down button.
Yea didnt want the app. Thanks just wasn't letting go of power button at proper time.
