Hi,
I see that its possible to jealbreak my HTC Titan : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684912
So I got some questions about jealbreaking Windows Phone :
Will it still be possible to take the system update the regular way (Zune)?
Will a updated from HTC(Zune) break the jealbreak?
Will it be possible to use the phone like a harddrive (moving files)?
What will jealbreak really do for Windows Phone? What is the key functionality that we want to install?
Is it possible to restore the Phone to original?
It seems like the Dynamics7 v1.2 ROM is wokring properly, will it also work on my HTC Titan bought in Sweden (no sim lock)?
Is there somthing I should think about before jealbreking my phone?
Im looking at jealbreak becoure I wanted to customize the look of the current theme and it would also be nice to be able to use folders. Is this maby possible without jealbreak?
BestRegards
HSPL is not jailbreak... HSPL is custom bootloader which allow to load (flash) custom ROM
custom ROM's is full unlocked ROM's (you can stop telling jailbreak, custom ROM is already unlocked and no need for jailbreak...)
1. update via Zune not recommended because you maybe can halfbrick device because SPL (bootloader) update
2. read n.1
3. yes
4. dont understand your question... with full unlocked device you get many options which restricted in original locked WP7
5. yes... simle switch HSPL to SPL and flash original ROM
6. custom ROM work on all devices no matter where purchased... only restrictions is if SPL cant change to HSPL or different vendor ID (this can fix via gold card)
7. all what you need is mentioned in HSPL topic...
8. no

But Im still not sure what a custom rom really will give me that the stock does not. Could you give me any examples?
too much to explain... simple: ALL (unlimited xap loading, patched XBL games, native apps support like Opera, customizing, BT file transfer, ActiveSync support)...
look here for homebrew apps and many more:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=607
First of all, this is a Questions thread (you even marked it as such!) and should *not* be in the Dev & Hacking forum. That's what the Q&A forum is for!
Second, the term "jailbreak" is much too vague and should not be used in regard to WP7. There are many different levels of unlock for WP7, and "full-unlock" (what you're askign about) is the highest.
Third, the only real way to describe what you can do with custom ROMs and full-unlock is "if it can be built / coded, it can be made to work". Full filesystem and registry access. Native executables and third-party drivers. Custom firmware updates (some custom ROMs are supposed to also be able to use stock updates such as from Microsoft, but there's always risks of something messing up). Unlimited sideloading.
Fourth, just because something *can* be done doesn't mean it *has* been done yet. That said, this is a developer forum (NOTE: This is *not* a "make my phone cool" forum). Once you install a full-unlock custom ROM, if there's a feature you want but don't have, you can write it yourself...

Thanks! That gave me a betther view on what is possible and what is available.
Here in Sweden the warenty is voided(I think) when installing a custom rom so in order to do that it would have to give me a big win but after checking available customizations I dont think its worth it (in my case).
By the way, you could customize the GUI with Wiztiles.

Sorry, I thought that I was posting it in the F&Q section but somthing went wrong (hope somone moves it).
Yeas jealbreak is not a good term to use in this case. Is there any unlock(that dont cost money) of the phone that will not void the warrenty?
After checking what´s available right now I will probably stay on the stock, besides voiding the warrenty is not worth it yet.
Yes I know that if its not existing then I should dev it my self but I do not have any requests that is strong enouth to invest alot of hours into it. Im already investing all my dev time in other projects.
You can use the Report button to ask a moderator to move the thread.
I'm not familiar with your warranty laws. In the US, custom ROMs don't void the warranty, generally speaking (the OEM might refuse to service the custom ROM, but if you flash the stock ROM back on before sending it in they either won't know or won't care). That said, there's the student dev-unlock via DreamSpark, but that onlly allows sideloading a few low-privilege apps. It is free (if you're a student), though. Otherwise, there's hacks to achieve various levels of unlock available on some phone models. However, the only one currently available for the Titan is the unlocked bootloader (HSPL) plus a custom ROM.
One of the greatest features that is possible with even only a developer unlock is taking screenshots itself. Thats a feature I missed on my wp7

You have to read the Wiki and search the threads. The answers are there. Just a note, if you're not sure how to format the SD card, maybe you shouldn't be flashing a new ROM onto your device ... Just a thought

1. HardSPL goes on your phone. Please read this thread and make sure you understand the directions for flashing HardSPL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
2. If you are planning on flashing Dutty's ROM, why are you running nbhexctract?
3. rom tool is also for cooking your own ROMs (which with all due respect, you are clearly NOT ready for, in my humble opinion)
To cook your own ROM, read this wiki entry http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser ROM Kitchen Tutorial
If you just want to flash Dutty's ROM, select the one you like, download it and run it from your PC.
Thats it.

first off, it doesn't sound like you've read enough... you have a lot of information but not much comprehension (yet, at least).
second, you should understand that nothing you download or do based on advice from this site is "guaranteed"... you assume all risk for what you do to your phone.
now that that stuff is out of the way, you should install HardSPL before you do anything else ROM related... if you can't install HardSPL following the instructions in that sticky thread, you should stop and figure out why and read about how to fix it (don't try to flash ROMs without HardSPL).
After you get HardSPL installed you can experiment with some of the packaged ROMs developed by the excellent cooks on this site (Kyphur, helmi_c, Sleuth255, Duttythory, Alex etc etc...no offense to the other cooks, I just haven't tried your ROMs yet ).
After you get very familiar with the whole flashing process you might want to dabble in cooking for yourself. When you get to this point the Wiki will make MUCH more sense.
Good Luck
I have installed HardSPL on my tilt, copied the Kaiser_RUU.exe and Ruu_Signed.nbh to my SD card but it gives an error when I run the exe, after reading here, looks like I need to just copy the .nbh to my tilt and run the exe from the pc?
I will try that when I am home later on if this is the case otherwise can a kind guru direct me to the correct way?
Thank you

Hi,
I'm not shure if I understand your doubt... If you want to flash a cooked Rom into your device, there are two ways, from SD card and from your PC...
FIRST YOU MUST HAVE HARD-SPL INSTALLED (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679)
I think you should read this if you want to flash your device from SD card:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336158
But, the easy way is to flash with your PC, using Activesync 4.5. in that case, all you have to do is plug your device to the PC (wait until activesync gets green), the pick a Cooked Rom of your preference (just search in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=378 you have dutty's, shap's, quentin, alex, and many others), download it into your PC, extract it and then run the Kaiser_RUU.exe and follow the instructions on the screen...
You can also read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332246
Read all the information in the links above first, because it is a delicate process and, as pof said: "This software is free to use but at your own risk, I take no responsiblity for any conflict, fault, or damage caused by this unlocking procedure.
No warranties of any kind are given, any commercial use is prohibited."...
Good luck
cheers
Hi shadowlabs9;
you did answer my question I have already done the hard spl. The thing I have done wrong, IMO, was copying the exe to my tilt, too much reading, mixed it with SD card flashing, I should have excuted it from my PC, I will try that later. Thank you for your help
ok i just flashed a rom...
after the update finish what do i do? it reset it self and its going back how i had it before i flashed it
Have you bettre answer please share it with us begginers. Thank you.
1. What is rom on mobile device?
- is read only memory flash which include the operating system of the device
Answer provided by: Rudegar
- ROMs are like your OS. While there is only Windows Mobile available, changing (flashing) ROMs allow you to get a different language, more features (via custom ROMs) and more recent versions of Windows Mobile on your device.
Answer provided by: N1c0_ds
2. What is difference between rom and wm6.0(6.1)?
- 6.1 is a newer version which have new features like threaded sms
Answer provided by: Rudegar
3. Because i know that in computers rom is bios and windows is operating system. But here on mobile forums everybody call wm6.0 as rom. do i have right?
- in wm world bios == bootloader and rom == os
Answer provided by: Rudegar
4. If I want to delete my 6.0 and install 6.1 do i need to delete my rom?
- roms are a image like an cd iso image it will replace the old rom before putting the new rom on the flash tool does this automaticly
Answer provided by: Rudegar
***5. There is no tutorial how to do a backup of you windows so that later you can turn it back if i want sale a phone.
- there are not that many general answers things are often very device depended i sugest you try looking around in the wiki to find the device you own http://wiki.xda-developers.com/

6. What is it RUU?
- ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU)

still unanswerd:
I found on HTC site new rom, so it has wm inside? on what language?
Iam really confused.
how to found original rom on special language?

2. 6.1 is a newer version which have new features like threaded sms
3. in wm world bios == bootloader and rom == os

It's not an easy process the first time you do it and takes a lot of research so you don't brick your device.

as i said
"things are often very device depended"
and if you try flash tools and roms from devices
not being the type you own you can kill your device
as i said read the wiki about your SPC! device and then read it again
and read posts in the forum for your SPC! device
there are a lot of people here who killed their devices
because they tried to take on more then they could handle
if you got a magician then look at the first howto
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Magician
apart from the rom itself the only thing you really need to backup is
programs you installed yourself
if you sync with outlook using activesync all your data would be there
and in the files dir and....
and no backup prog does both rom and data

SuperJustKitchen v0.9 Released.
Go to my site: http://justkitchen.info to get the updates and the info. It takes to long to update every device's forum that is supported, and I plan to support all devices, eventually.
Word of warning:
Not all EXT's have been tested or modified for the every device. Please test test and test and then let me know which packages don't work and what YOU've done to fix them. (I don't have time to fix ALL of them by myself.) Some packages will only be compatible with some devices.
(I'm no longer updating each thread separately for each device but just updating my site and posting the release info here. I will only update each thread to say that a new version is out.)
**Warning**
Before using this kitchen, you MUST read the whole thread. Any questions that have been answered will be ignored. This is your only warning.
**Disclaimer**
I am not responsible for any damage that may be done to your phone with a ROM created in this kitchen.
I am not responsible for any damage done to your computer.
I am not responsible for anything... at all.
Introducing SuperJustKitchen!
SuperJustKitchen is based on [http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=843218"]airxtreme[/URL]'s osKitchen Zero. All credit on for the kitchen backend goes to him.
Features
A completely stripped ROM. (Work in progress for some devices.)
LZX and XPR compression (Also option for No compression.)
Auto clean files that are language specific or DPI specific that your ROM does not need
Auto port missing language MUI files
Automatic rec'loc'ing for devices without native 6.5 nk's
6.1 and 6.5 support
Auto XIP and SYS porting
Auto NBH packing
Tool to convert OEM packages to EXT packages
Auto file conflict fix (don't have to removing older file that conflict (not that there are any. )
Save custom ROM settings (for cooks for multiple ROMs)
Cook multiple languages at the same time with the same ROM settings (Have to add language support yourself. I removed the required MUI's a while back because they made updating the kitchen and adding devices a nightmare.)
MUCH better organization of EXT packages
Active development instead of a program that is no longer being developed
Cleaner and easier to use interface
A built-in and customizable Tutorial section
And more!
Builds included
21056 - WM6.1
23658 - WM6.5 with new redesigned GUI
At the moment, this is an ENGLISH (WWE) only kitchen. This might change...
NOTE: In order for me to keep track of whether my time was well spent or wasted, if you use this kitchen to make a ROM, please either include SJK in the name or just mention that it was SJK cooked in your ROM's thread.
NOTE: This kitchen assumes that you know how to flash through SD, recover from a bad flash and are able to backtrack your steps to figure out how you broke your own ROM. If you do not understand these, please learn them first. Do not PM me asking me. I have written numerous walkthroughs on all these except on how to backtrack your steps. For that, just remember what you're doing as you do it and keep backups.
If you find any issues, PLEASE report them to the bug tracker in my website. It will help me make this kitchen better!
ENJOY!!!
Thanks for your hard work.
Thanks, I've been waiting for this. Its very easy to use, with those descriptions, and the kitchen is way better too.
Okay, tried to create an empty rom (without any non-required apps), but I get ERROR [270] : UPDATE ERROR when i try to flash it:
The image file is corrupted. Please check your Update utility.. Ideas?
Update: Even with the default Wing settings.
I am getting the same error I am trying to build a 6.1 rom. Also tried flashing via the sd card but it does not boot it.
Same problems for wm 6.5
I changed the executable last minute. I think this may be the problem. Before I say that, can one of you save your configuration and post it here for me to test.

It seems that the executable is the problem. Stay tuned for a fix. (The issue is with osKitchen so I have to relay the information to the programmers.)
No problem thanks for helping.
I thought it was just me not being able to get a flashable ROM..
Thank you Ivan !! That's a good job ! (I've following your posts in OndraSter's thread)
Can I mix it with the original OsKitchen for Kaiser ? Or do i must have two different OsKitchen folders ? Is it possible to use the old UI with your kitchen version (I mean, changing the executable) or you made changes to important files ?
I could never cook a decent ROM with SJK and only three (decent) ones for Kaiser. maybe now I'll be able to cook similar versions for both devices !
(not decent ROMs, of course, I cooked lots, but not able to be used by exigent people)
Unfortunately, there were some recent changes between the New GUI and the Old GUI that make it a little harder to just switch back and forth. Today, I'm going to try the newest new gui executable. If it fails as well, I'll switch over to the older style and make the appropriate changes to the kitchen file structure.
You can move most of your sources just fine. Nothing else, though.
In fact, if you don't mind, if you let me have your sources folder, I can incorporate support for the Kaiser into the kitchen, properly.
Also, can anyone do me a favor?
Go to your sources folder and delete the "_Compress" folder then try to cook and flash a ROM. If it works, then that was the problem all along... he moved the folder to another location but the kitchen still reads both.)
Got a question for you, Ivan, is the .ROM package supposed to be inserted in as well?

No, you don't need it. It's only there because I forgot to remove it when I ported that build. Newer kitchens no longer need the .ROM folder.

All ROMs are RUU friendly as long as they are at least 50mb's large.
Mind you, your phone must be hardSPL'd for it to work.
If the ROM is smaller than 50MB, you can still flash through SD.

i read that but it seems to me that only solution is to pay for some code! Ive already tried mention programs to unlock it but it didnt help - at least it shows signal now but there is still "data crashes" massage....
Unfortunately the procedure from IMEI-CHECK.UK is the only available working one - at least there IS a procedure (more than just a "code") to revive your device. Up to you what to do - if you find an alternate way to handle this (gutek85 is investigating), let us know.

ok - strange thing is that i havent used my Tornado for a long time and i think it worked before without any problems!?! ....
You messed it sometime with an SIM-unlock/super-CID procedure. You will only notice with a SIM card - so if you played around with flashing long time back already without a SIM, you may not even have noticed the problem.
but what is the solution?
The solution is pay IMEI-CHECK.UK or wait for effects of my work (if this works)
no no, im not gonna pay anything for this especialy when there is no certain result. i tried several programs but nothing worked. i find it strange that i can lock phone but cant unlock it back....also found out this: when i tried to flash new ROM everything looks normal during procedure (on the screen there is 100 %) but after restart there is still the same one ROM...:-(
Report in detail what did not work and how you prepared your device for successful flashing. Make sure you understood what the following terms mean:
- application unlocking
- SIM unlocking
- CID unlocking
and how you can check each of these are successfully executed.
i know what - SIM unlocking and CID unlocking means but dont know how to unlock them. i also have artemis which is in fact tornado with touchscreen and gps and i could CID unlock it easily and than tried many ROMS(SIM unlocking wasnt necessary), but i havent found solution for this yet....if there would be 100 % (at least 99 % ) guide for this it would be great....
Plenty has been told, in this thread and others. Lokiwiz tooling is 100% if you execute all steps carefully and don't leave trash of previous unlocks behind in the directory. It worked for all of my devices since spv-services is no more available. It has SIM unlocked a Hurricane and a Tornado and CID unlocked about 10 Tornados, 2 Hurricanes and 3 Typhoon - without any error.
Look at the batch, analyse what it does and take action accordingly. A safety precaution is to rename the pdocwrite.exe in the tools directory for the first run, so it will not actually write the unlocked encrypted block. Then compare the two .bin files to see if they are different. If they are identical then your device was probably already CID unlocked. Access the SPL in bootmode with TTerm (command "info 2") then the bottom line should tell "HTC superCID" or similar.
The latter is discussed and told in most kitchen and ROM threads - so nothing new. Just look at my signature and follow the link after "WM6+SDHC cooked ROM".
"Data chrashes..." fix method

Unfortunately the procedure from IMEI-CHECK.UK is the only available working one - at least there IS a procedure (more than just a "code") to revive your device. Up to you what to do - if you find an alternate way to handle this (gutek85 is investigating), let us know.

Probably I found method to reconstruct encrypted block after "Data crashes..." message I write modified CID block from Tornado1 to Tornado2 and phone still works ok. Send PM to sunny_morning and he(she) can be my beta tester (if wants). If this works, write full instruction on this forum Now waiting for answer from sunny_morning...
Oh, well - this can be good news
What I know from my old investigations was that the encrypted block needs to be encrypted with the DOC-ID of the "new" device and that another key is required (one of 100 possible - depending on the DOC-ID) to do so. It is a quite complicated process, I think.
With your suggested procedure would it be mandatory to change the IMEI of the device (to the one of the old device - hence "cloning" the device) or will it be the original IMEI?
What did you verify already with your spare device?
I also have some spare Tornados (with encrypted block backups) to assist in testing if you like.
It's wird, because after write into MTTY "info 2" comand it displays:
info 2
GetDeviceInfo=0x00000002
GetDeviceCID: Error - InitDecoder
HTCS ´í•6HTCE
Cmd>
but i can flash nev ROM and GSM works... I know it should show SiperCID information, but it still works...
And screen from Wizard Service Tool:

Any idea???
I think that only works with a WM6.5 - not with original shipped ROMs. This seems special in some ways, possibly some checks have been patched, so bypassing conditions that make other ROMs fail with GSM access.
How do you know that GSM "works"?
Could you make normal calls with the changed encrypted block?
Mind that "data crashes" only affects GSM use - all other functions of the device work unchanged even under this condition.
What you described was also happening to AlainL and he did not succeed in getting it resolved - neither did I when receiving the broken device. After getting the IMEI-check.uk procedure done everything is back to normal.
1. Yes, you're right. It works only witch cooked WM 6.5 rom (I tried this only on this ROM), doesnt work on shipped ROM.
2. I'm sure, because I can call from this phone I'll try working on WM5 shipped ROM...
3. I'm workin hard to fix all this damage for free
P.S. I have a backup copy of my original encrypted block, so there is no risc...
Edit:
You have right once again... After flashing to Shipped Qtek ROM I have message "Data crashes..." Maybe solution to the problem is upgrading to Gregory WM6.5 ROM... Or there is any patch for shipped ROMs...
This is getting harder than I thought
Edit2:
After downgrade to shipped WM5 Qtek ROM I can't upgrade back to WM6.5 Gregory ROM. Progress bar goes to 100%, but after reboot I have the same WM5 Qtek ROM My (alternative) SPV C600 is sentenced to WM5 Qtek Shipped ROM...
You should copy back the original encrypted block (with the real HTC SuperCID) then the normal flashing should work again.
Get in contact with the originator of the WM6.5 ROM on what he did to the RIL (Radio Interface Layer) to skip the check on the encrypted block. Probably the ROM would also not care about an active SIM lock in the encrypted block.
In that case, probably a ROM cook could insert the "robust" RIL to any Tornado ROM?
I have backup copy of original SuperCID encrypted block, but i can't flash it back (it's created from WST), because i can't now connect with Wizard Service Tool (Qtek WM5 ROM)
I think you're right. WM6.5 by SGregory is more CID-block problems proof. That's why Tornado still could make calls, despite a damaged CID block
My next step is find informations how to convert CID-block backup from .fls to .bin file. Then I'll try to flash it back by lokiwiz02b

Just make a copy of the block with lokiwiz. They both use the itsutils for doing the job and it should be a straight binary copy only. Probably you can right away rename the WST backup to the name required for the lokiwiz.
As is the case with any smartphone, the initial ownership period is always the most exciting one. Your phone is new and you can’t wait to try out all the features it has to offer. After a while, though, you tend to get bored with it and that’s when you start thinking about buying a new one. Unfortunately, what many don’t realise is that at times, manufacturers aren’t able to exploit the phone's true capabilities due to various reasons and one of the best ways to achieve that is by rooting it ( assuming it is an Android Smartphone.

What is rooting and why do I need it?
At the core, Android is based on Linux and by default, it gives users only limited access to the system. The permissions are set to give users access to everything they would typically need and restrict them from accidentally modifying any system files or permissions, since a novice user can end up bricking their phone. Rooting your Android phone gives you Superuser access, which is similar to having an Administrator account in Windows. Armed with this, you can now perform system level updates; make changes in the UI through specialized apps; modify protected files, etc. With this you can now use Titanium Backup, which is one of the best backup apps in the Marketplace letting you backup virtually all your settings, data, etc, which otherwise is not possible. Adfree is another very handy app that lets you block ads in any free app you download and since it works at the IP address level, it doesn't slow down the system.
Advantages Of Rooting An Android Device
1. You can use custom ROM's such as CyanogenMod & MIUI.
2. You can overclock the processor to increase performance or underclock it to save battery power.
3. You can delete the carrier added crap-ware, use custom themes.
4. You can obtain SuperUser access.
5. You can backup and restore the whole system.
SuperUser Access Granted
Dis-Advantages Of Rooting An Android Device
1. Your warranty will be in great danger.
2. Security Concerns may occur.
3. You can possibly turn your phone into an expensive paper-weight if you don't know what you're doing i.e. Brick you android device.

How To Root?
Every android device whether it's a smartphone or tablet, have a different method of rooting. In my personal opinion, there are two applications that can almost root any android device.
Using SuperOneClick - Download
This Windows-based application will root (almost) any Android phone in the market and is a good place to start. It works on Windows Vista and above, and requires you to have .NET Framework 2.0 and above pre-installed. For the full list of supported phones and instructions on how to use this on a Mac or Linux, follow this thread. Once you download and install it, just follow these steps:
Put your phone in Debugging mode - For this, go to Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging. Some phones have this placed differently, so if you don’t find it here, just browse though all the sub-menus in settings, you will eventually find it.
Make sure the drivers for your phone are installed - If you received a CD with your phone then install it. If not, then go to the support section of your phones website and download it from there. In case you have a phone from a lower tiered company then chances are you may not find drivers for it. Don’t worry, as OneClickRoot will download generic drivers for your phone.
Plug your phone to the PC via USB cable - Remember, not to “Turn on Mass Storage”, if you get the prompt. Just ignore it.
Run the software and it should now detect your phone. Then you simply click ‘Root’ and wait for it to complete. If Windows can’t detect the drivers for your phone, click the second tab on the program and click “Get Drivers”.
Your phone is now rooted! You’ll now have a new app in your list called ‘Superuser’. All that it does is keep a log of which applications require Superuser access.
The other application is Unlock Root, which works in a similar fashion. So, if for some reason OneClickRoot doesn’t work, you can give this a try.
Now that we have rooted the phone, it’s time to install a custom recovery, so we can install custom ROMs and a lot more.
What is Custom Recovery and why do I need it?
Think of recovery as DOS mode in your PC. You access it to make changes to the system, apply updates, change file partitions, etc, which is normally not possible through the OS itself. All Android devices come with a recovery, but the stock one offers very basic options, which won’t let you install custom ROMs or make any other system level changes. For that, we have a custom recovery and the most popular one is the ClockworkMod Recovery or CWM developed by Koush or Koushik Dutta.
A couple of things you can do with CWM are:
Make, restore and manage backups of your current ROM
Install a custom ROM or flash a kernel from internal storage
Mount, format your phones internal storage partitions
Create logs for error reporting
It’s ok, if you don’t know what some of them are, as you’ll seldom be using them. You can install CWM in different ways, but the simplest is through an app called ‘ROM Manager’. Here’s what you do:
Download ROM Manager from the Android Marketplace
Launch the app and the first option itself should say “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery”. Just press that and follow the instructions onscreen. In case you don’t have enough internal memory, you’ll be prompted to insert an SD card, so do that.
Be patient and let it work its magic. Once it’s done, you now have a custom recovery on your phone.
You can get into recovery mode a number of ways. Some phones have a button combo, which you boot into, but again, the simplest way is through ROM Manager. The second option says ‘Reboot into Recovery’, so just hit that and your phone should boot in to recovery mode.
After a reboot you won’t see the screen above directly, if you boot through ROM Manager (sometimes). Instead, you’ll have an Android logo with an exclamation mark. Don’t be alarmed; simply press the ‘Home’ button or any of the soft keys and you’ll see the main menu. You can scroll through the options using the volume keys and enter them using the ‘Home’ or ‘Power’ button. It’s a bit different for each device, but nothing that you can't figure out on your own. CWM will not work with every device, especially the lower end handsets from Spice, Lava, etc. The reason being they aren’t support by the developers, since they are relatively unheard of. However, almost every phone from a Tier 1 brand are supported.
Congratulations! You now have a rooted phone and a custom recovery installed. Don’t worry about loss of data as both these procedures will not affect any of the settings or data on your phone. The next step? How about installing a custom ROM?
About Custom ROM's, you will find loads of them here........at XDA-Developers
Till then, Stay Cool!

hi there,
i am very new to rooting. i own galaxy s2 and wud like to try it. my phone is under contract i.e. donot have a sim card.
so can i still root it??
Can I move apps to sd without root with apps such as facebook?
Actually, I do not think I will root again unless I have a replacement or my phone is two years old, the length of the htc warranty. My phone plays up for absolutely no reason at all and it can't read zip files! If I were I noob I would not root.
Thanks for the tutorial! :good:
