So i'm trying to find a rom that saves battery the most. I know that ICS drains battery faster, and i am a heavy user. I'm using stock right now and listen to music like 4 hours, play some games, Check email, use internet, etc.. idc if its cyangmod or ICS, i just want a rom that saves the battery the most. BTW, i overclock my Cpu to the highest, but use profiles.
You can't have power and long battery life (both at the same time). You need to underclock to get a better battery life or you can forego with buying a bigger battery and then OC it to the Max.
Best bet is a GB rom with Trinity elp kernel.. it has Max undervolt and an oc to 1.1ghz

From my personal testing the Trinity ELP kernel drains more than stock CM7 kernel, on idle. It may allow undervolting & underclocking & other fancy features, but at the default voltage & clock, drains more.

I know overclocking is all the rage for more performance. I myself would prefer the gains of overclocking (probably wouldn't be 1.7 ghz atm since that is the performance based kernal, but 1.5 ghz might be doable) with a combination of undervolting for longer battery life.
I know when I was considering a viewsonic gtablet, that most of the kernals that overclocked also undervolted at the same time (how much depended on the kernal and how much of an overclock too).
Advantages to overclocking are pretty obvious, more performance. Undervolting makes the processor (this case SOI) run off of less power, thus more battery life (can be significant if undervolted enough) and less heat, which translates into a tablet that potential has a longer life (heat overtime wears away at life of SOI/processors and sometimes other components), plus much lower risk than overclocking. I undervolt all my laptops, I mostly get my laptop with 3 hour battery life to 3 hr 30min or even 3 hr 45 min on a moderate undervolt. A little undervolting could take this tablet from 8-9 hours to possible 11-12 hours of battery life (plus a little overclock included will add some performance too).
Do any of the present kernals out there try this? If not, I would like to make a request for such a kernal.
Undervolting might cause the TP to be unstable and crash.

it would need to be done in small increments just like overclocking. Same methods are used undervolting as you would overclock. Yes they could both cause instability, if you double the clock speed or cut the voltage in half, it takes time to know the limit of the SOI by using small increments.
You will need to your favorite custom kernel and adjust the volts yourself using Govnah.
But then I also was reading on forums on webosbuzz and you can have screen wake issues to with undervolting

Really? If that is true, I wonder how undervolting would cause that.
The webos-internals-testing kernels include initial experiments with undervolting.
SGS2 user here. Have Been trying out various ROM's for the Galaxy S2.....found optimum performance. I stress mainly on BatteryLife for any RoM
currently running [KH3] Cognition 1.5
its really smooth....
But Some say that Batista is lighter and ram n thus more battery efficient ?
i know that battery life is more or less massively dependent on the radio mod and kernel build
can anyone help me optimize.....i want decent battery life with no compromise on performance
Cognition gives me a decent 5036 benchmark on quadrant standard but at 1.6ghz OC.

Okay I'm planning to buy this phone and decided I am going to use CM9, just wondering what kernel I should use stability and performance is key, I don't mind battery life I can cope with charging every night as I do this now with the worlds worst phone (iPhone 3G) fully charged this morning (8:00) now 30% (17:15) all I've used it for is a little browsing and at most 2 and a half hours of music at mid volume and sent a few texts. So to wrap this up what kernel would you recommend stability ranks higher than speed but speed is important battery mind I can cope with as long as it is better than my iPhones :') If anybody already has CM9 post some screen shots :')
either franco or glados will give you the best of all worlds (performance, stability, battery). i'm not partial to either, i just flash whichever was updated more recently.

I'm sticking with Franco's since it's done wonders for me on GB.
Using it on ICS now and it's stable and fast.
Greetz
i haven't try ICS yet, but in GB i suggest FRANCO , it's damn good
about battery , it happens to all smartphones ...
only you thing you can do for hard usage is buy an extra battery or extrenal power , thank god our phone's battery is replaceble not as iPhone which is UNreplaceble...
I like mathkid. I used franco on gingerbread but i feel mathkid 11.5 ics is better on ics

Hmmm, what's it like on the performance & stability side?
i think franco's kernel is good ..
Franco Kernel hands down.
He frequently updates his kernel usually on a weekly basis as of now and contains all of the power saving tweaks (Lazy Govenor, DEEP IDLE, BLX, TouchWake Live OC ... this guy is good) created by the creator of the GlaDOS kernel Ezeekel.
He does not have any debugging tools running in the background (as other kernels do) for optimal performance.
I've tried every rom and kernel in the development section. My biggest priority with
a rom is speed/smoothness/lag, jitter, stutter free and then deep sleep, overclock,
battery life capabilities. I use juice defender and get over a day of light use. If
that's what you're looking for then this is the best combo for you. In my opinion
obv.
As topic
The best i found was with HyperNonSense 1.5 and SebastianFM kernel at 1.72ghz
There is no better / worse ROM
Its all down to the user, Their mods, Their kernels, Their wants and needs.
Its upto you to find the right Combo that works for YOU..
I can get close to 2 days with moderate use on ARHD, But that doesnt mean everyone will.. what i consider moderate usage, others may consider it extremely light / heavy usage

2 days with stock battery 1500mah or extended one?
Best rom is virtuous inquisition with sebastianfm 1.30.2 kernel.

Stock I know i know no one believes me.... Im just lucky.. Like i said i may be a very light user to some people
I have sebastians kernel, overclocked to 1.6ghz Min freq 364ghz
Auto brightness off, Governor on demand...

What brightness do you have it on?
I'm jealous. The MOST I've ever gotten on my Sensation is 18 hours and that was ONCE.
I average 10-12 hours. I don't f***ing understand.
I don't use it much. My display just LOVES sucking my juice.
