Which is the best rom for battery life? - HTC Sensation

As topic

The best i found was with HyperNonSense 1.5 and SebastianFM kernel at 1.72ghz

There is no better / worse ROM
Its all down to the user, Their mods, Their kernels, Their wants and needs.
Its upto you to find the right Combo that works for YOU..
I can get close to 2 days with moderate use on ARHD, But that doesnt mean everyone will.. what i consider moderate usage, others may consider it extremely light / heavy usage

What brightness do you have it on?

I'm jealous. The MOST I've ever gotten on my Sensation is 18 hours and that was ONCE.
I average 10-12 hours. I don't f***ing understand.
I don't use it much. My display just LOVES sucking my juice.

I use Insert Coin 5.1.1, "Rom Cleaned" with LBE security. With heavy usage (2h music, 1h calls, 1h internet + screen) I can get minimum 14 hours. Same battery on GB stock rom 4h.
When I have fully charged battery on Friday afternoon, during the weekend (only have few phone calls, a little bit wifi) I plug it in at work on Monday with 15-20% left.
I have stock battery.

i have IC 5.1.4 and the battery life his horrible when im using my phone, but during school i underclock to 1.02ghz max turn power saver on and data off and itll last... also have stock battery with 1.5ghz kernel
With ARHD 6.5.1, Sebastian's kernel and 1900 mA anker battery I can do 3 days of light usage, 2 of mid ones and of course 1 of heavy.
ARHD works for about 1.5 days moderate use and 3.5 days on minimal use.
i've never liked a custom kernel, it always eats up my battery faster than stock (based from my experience) even undervolting doesn't make it last longer.

Highly agree with custom kernels eating up the battery

ARHD 6.5.1 battery life is very good.
I am now outlasting my partners iPhone 3GS with heavier use!
I can go a full day and still have 40-50% remaining.
Also there is no need to overclock. I use no frills cpu set to 192 min and 972 max. Very smooth and fast.

I don't understand how you guys are getting such excellent battery life on a Sense rom because I only get those numbers when I'm on Senseless. I guess I just have to try harder
Not sure.
All I can suggest is that you:
Make sure you are on correct radio/RIL
Super wipe
Reflash ROM
Use no-frills cpu and underclock to 972 max 192 min
Disable always on mobile data
Enjoy your phone
I have brightness set to auto. I have unlimited data so rarely use wifi.
Still on 100% from unplugging at 6:30 this morning.

I have very limited data allowance [it's 50MB PAYG for what it's worth, like 1.50 in GBP] and I don't go out much so I just use WiFi at school and home. Radio is on 3.32 although I'm not sure about my RIL. And also I always enjoy my phone. Always
EDIT: RIL is HTC-RIL 4.0.0013HMQ. I always use Kohr-ah's stuff so I'm pretty sure that this was included it the 3.32FW i got from the thread.

There you have it!
You have your CPU set to a minimum of 648 mhz so it will never go any slower than 648 mhz.
I have mine set to the lowest (192 mhz) so that when it's not needed the CPU can run as low as 192 mhz.

Well I already have a profile for screen off. 192-486MHz. Should I still lower it?
I hadn't seen a ROM on my phone that lasts more than 12 hours for moderate to heavy use. I wonder how everyone else is getting 1-2 days of battery life (happy for them, sad for me).
I don't install any other app apart from the stock ones available with the Rom, plus the XDA app. Can someone please share the secret?
Thanks!

Getting terrible battery life on ARHD 6.5.3 with Sebatian kernel. SetCPU ondemand governor 192 min and 1.6 max. Screen off profile to 192 min 1 ghz max. Get about 5-6 hours of life with moderate use.
how long have you had the setup?

[Q] Battery saver kernel for Sensation

Hi!
Ok, i'm not good in writing especially in english so here we go
From all kernel that has been released lately, which one do you recommend for having the best battery life in term of standby??
My opinion is Sebastian's kernel in ARHD 6.5.1
it gave me mostly 2 hours for 1%
but i have new problem now cause i flash ARHD 6.5.3 and then restore boot from 6.5.1 NAND back up and now my wifi gave me error
(but this is my problem, not yours )
Come on guys, give me your opinion
I'm currently running Hyper NonSense with the default kernel - I think it's Faux that's cooked into the ROM but unsure of this. Between the ROM and the kernel, I'm getting the best battery life I've seen with this phone. Easily have 30-50% left at the end of the day with moderate use; haven't actually benchmarked it more carefully than that.
Any update on this? My sensation doesn't even last a day...
Best kernels right now are Faux kernel
Sebastian FM
Bricked kernel
I myself have found that bricked uses the less battery, but try them yourself and decide which suits your needs.
I'm using Faux right now with HyperNonSense and I would say it's a good balance between battery saving and performance. One thing to keep in mind is that the higher you OC the more juice it'll drain. So far I've always capped my CPU to 1.24Mhz and I've never had an issue with performance. During light use I can get more than 30 hours in a full charge. If it's a moderate use, I'm still able to touch 24 hours. Oh yeah I'm using Anker 1900mAh.

Best rom for battery life

Hello guys,
as for me the most annoying part of a smartphone is running out of battery when there is no chance to recharge, I want to collect your experieces with different roms concerning battery life.
WHich rom gave you the longest battery?
Cheers
There are many factors not only the ROM.
It's the kernel you flashed, it's the settings you have chosen... and at least it's your daily behavior with your phone....
Usually you have a better battery life with custom kernels...

as it was answered
custom kernel with feature as ability to set minimum CPU frequency and probablly voltage control
and U'll have to try some of them in order to find out the wright one
Longest battery life i get with stock rom so far (around 20h with moderate usage)
for custom roms:
Best battery life gave me PAC-Man rom with bubbav4 kernel - which was almost like stock.
ViperOneS had the worst battery life for me.
just try some roms and kernels, it also depends on how you use your phone of course.
in my experience, 4.2.2 roms have the lowest battery life ~3.5 hours screen on + wifi on (active Web surfing) with auto brightness.
Viper rom 2.1 ~4 hours
aosp 4.1.2 (cm10) and viper 1.2.1 ~4.5
very rough numbers obviously so no one roast me. remember I'm talking about total screen on time as reported by the battery app.
The newer jb 4.2 roms are very popular and have a lot of great features, but if battery is your thing, try out some of the older android and sense roms.

For me it was pretty much a tie between Liquid Smooth with Bubba Kernel(OC to 1890 for heavy periods, 1134 for light usage, and complete collapse of the CPU when the screen is off) And Viper One S with the Stock Kernel. Like everyone said though you'll experience wildly different numbers depending on what settings you use and how much
Viper has always had phenomenal battery life.

Complete collapse of Cpu when screen off? Is that pm sleep mode 1 or 0?
Thank you very much. Unfortunately my phone jack is broken so I cannot test your configs, will report after repair though.

There's a setting on through Android Tweaker that gives you the option to control how the phone deep sleeps basically

[Q] rom vs kernel in battery life

This is a rather simple question do different roms really have better battery life then others or is it more of the choice of kernel? Do roms effect battery life as much as the choice of kernel? I currently have vipers Rom and just maxed out at 3:20 of screen on time with stock battery with underclocked and undervolted Sebastian kernel and want to no if switching to elegancia Rom would really make a difference in battery at all
Thanks

Hi,
Battery usage is a very subjective matter.
Everyone uses their phones differently,so , judging battery life between people is hard.
Yes , some ROMS are better than others.
Yes, some kernels are better than others.
It is the combination of the right ROM and kernel for you that is going to matter.
And no one can tell you what that is.
Experiment for a couple of days to see how they work.
READ what other people are saying about them in the threads.
OR,
Get a couple of spare batteries, and carry them around with you,and then , power is never a problem.

Best rom + kernel combo?

Hey everyone. Was wondering what are you using as a rom and kernel?
So far my op6 doesn't do more than 4:30 h of sot, which is kind of disappointing. on my pixel with the same setup and usage, I used to have 6:30-7h a day.
Thanks and feel free to post below, or if you have any battery tricks , let me know please. Tia

I'm currently running xXx no limits with Smurf kernal. Averaging between 6-8 hours sot depending on what apps I use and how long I use them. Even how hot it is outside effects the battery life. Everyone is going to have different results even with the sane Ron/ kernal setup. A lot of variables when it comes to battery life.
I personally use xXx no limits with Franco Kernel. But I agree with the previous comment, everyone will have different experiences with each combo.
I'm personally loving this combo as I've been averaging 7ish hours SOT, plus it's still as smooth snappy and responsive as ever!
Don't think there is such thing as "best", just whatever you prefer. I'm using stock + Flash kernel. Smurf kernel and EX are also really good!
Best thing to do is start flashing and experimenting with some combos and see what you like best.

Depends on the day I'm about to have.
For a standard day, I'll just run it as default settings.
If I needed a bit more then I'd underclock CPU and GPU from the FK app. There is minimal noticeable difference in terms of performance when you underclock it, I just didn't do it daily because I'd consistently go to bed and put my phone on charge with 40%+ battery left at the end of the day, I thought may as well go full power haha.
Hope this helps
There are no "best" roms or kernels. It's largely preference for what you're looking for.
