I just updated my T-mobile One S to 1.84 and noticed that on the music player, HTC deleted all the different sound presets that were available under menu->sound enhancer!!
Before, I could choose from 5 different beats audio settings, and many other non-beats presets. Now, I go to menu->sound enhancer and there is just beats on or beats off . Beats makes some music sound a bit harsh, and I would usually leave it at Classic preset, and now it is gone.
Anyone else notice this?

Yep, gone on mine also. TMOUSA
I've heard from an One S review(was told by a HTC staff), it will now change to auto detection which beats you are plugging in and no more manual selection.
What happens when a non beats headphone is plugged in...how does it determine the equalization then?
I have iBeats, but when I connect it to my system in my auto, I prefer the Beats Pro setting.
I also have stereo bluetooth headsets and a pair of Sony Pro Studio Monitors...
Now I guess I'm stuck with "on or off"
This sucks any way to roll it back?
Same happenned with eu update 1.73 i think

Running TMOUS stock, wondering if your Beats notification pops when connected to headset or does it pop up when listening to a music player regardless of headset?
Thanks
It pops up when you have a handset plugged in and sound is being outputted.

It also shows up on my phone when I listen through my bluetooth earphone.
Thanks, I could have sworn it used to pop up every time I used a music player regardless of earphones or Bluetooth connection.

To change Beats options: Open Music app > Menu > Sound Enhancer
You can disable the annoying Beats logo in the statusbar by disabling HtcBeatsNotify in apps but you won't have the quick on/off setting in the notifications.
The "sound enhancer" option is not in Google music app...anyone know where I can find it?
Nah, Music as in the HTC Music player.
thanks for your response, so it sounds like the only way to utilize beats is to use the htc music player huH?
Nah dude it turns on whenever u have a headset in and playing anything .. like YouTube google music whatever

I occasionally listen to music (when I have no alternative) through just the external speaker.
So Beats will not be running in that case, correct?

correct, as all beats is doing is enhancing the bass, which the external speaker can't reproduce correctly anyways. So it would be pointless.

In the months I've been on here I havent heard any mention of this. I was wondering if there is any mod or something similar that would allow sound ducking on sense 4 roms.
What I mean:
For those who don't know the sound ducking, I'm talking about is like what is in cyanogen. When listening to music or playing media and a notification comes in, the media volume drops lower and the notification noise comes in.
How it currently is on SENSE 4:
When listening to media and a notification comes in, the media completely cuts off for about a second, the notification then plays with some delay and finally the music/media comes back.
This doesn't seem that bad but it can become quite annoying, especially on car rides when there's a bunch of friends in the car or when I have my phone hooked up to the stereo on the other side of the room. It's a nice feature that I've seen since at least cm7, I hope someone knows something.
Thanks

I have poweramp cause its just plain the best music player ive downloaded, and whenever i enable beats audio, if im entering apps like settings or switching from one app to another or turning the phone on or off and various other basic tasks, playback starts skipping... but if i turn off beats audio, it works perfectly! i tried messing with the various audio tweaks poweramp has, but none have helped with the issue... i just wanna know if someone has or had the same issue and what they did to fix it!

Hello,
I've a HTC 8X since 3 days and if I want to use my Beats Tour without controlltalk on my H8X the sound is like disorted and there's no oral. It's like they're not propperly plugged in, but they are. On any other device they work fawlessly.
Any suggestions?
HTC One SV Boost Mobile K2_CL Variant. I was stock when the 4.2.2 Sense 5 update came around. Updated accordingly through WiFi. 1st thing I noticed: The Beats Audio was BROKEN! Had to toggle Beats Audio Off/On in the settings to reach the full effect. Every time i'd skip to the next song, the EQ/Effect would diminish, meaning the Bass (Using SOL Republic Master Tracks Headphones) and Treble would go flat, and i have to go to Settings and toggle Off/On EVERY TIME i skip a track. Thanks to this Forum, I unlocked the Bootloader from HTCdev, flashed TWRP 2.7.1.0, Rooted (Soft Brick with No OS :silly, Flashed the 4.2.2 Backup thanks to ModdingMyMind , but the audio issue wasn't resolved . so i then ran rumrunner and Gained S-OFF, and successfully flashed/downgraded to the decrypted 4.1.2 stock ROM. Problem Solved! Now my issue is: I like Sense 5, but Every time i re-install 4.2.2 Sense 5, my phone goes through the same issues over and over with Beats Audio. 4.1.2 never has/had this issue for me. Is there any way i can actually ENJOY 4.2.2 without this issue?
Do not use Beats audio. Install ViperFX for Android. Much better sound and more settings.

Is this just your opinion? Or do you have the same issue?
It my opinion and conclusion after trying Beats. Don't remember about issue like yours.
I can't reproduce this test too, because I currently have non-stock ROM- ViperSV 1.6.0.

Well. I took your advice and Installed the ViPER4Android APK. I'm quite impressed! Beats Audio was so easy to enable/disable, and i was satisfied how it played every track/genre. It was SO easy. Now with Viper, I had to tune it so much, adding db here and there, enabling this effect, that effect. I'm really Happy with the BASS! After Enabling Dynamic Bass, WOW! This APK does my SOL Republic Master Tracks justice for the price! They handle the Bass very well. It did install over the Beats Audio Driver (Overwrite?), but I can still toggle Beats Audio in the settings menu, and with it On, it adds ALOT more gain than what ViPER adds, which sweetens the deal even more with ViPER's clarity/Bass combo. Couldn't thank you more for your suggestion. Now onto the Battery Life Drain with 4.2.2 , but that's an entirely different Thread.
