Atrix 2 Not reading SIM/microsim - Motorola Atrix 2

Just got a new atrix 2 and I had been using a Nokia Lumia 900 microsim with straight talk. So i bought an adapter to put the microsim in making it a full size. I can not get the Atrix to to "Recognize" it has a sim in it. I have even tried several times just putting the microsim in correct position in the phone. It does not recognize anything. The nokia immediately recognizes it. I know other users are using straight talk on their atrix... Was anyone successfull with using a micro sim in an atrix with or without the adapter.
I can figure out why it wont recognize!?

did u check some other sim cards???and what network sim card is urs??and what your rom version?is it 2.3.6 cause lately there have been network issues in 2.3.6

I have a microSIM used for Razr, when I bought Atrix 2, this microSIM with an adaptor works no problem.
Try getting a new SIM card?

My microsim is an AT&T freq. but on Straight Talk. I tried a T-mobile one yesterday and it did not read it either. I'm wondering if the SIM reader is broken. How would I revert back to the previous software version?
Thanks for all your help and feedback.

Ok the 1st thing everyone should have asked is if the phone is sim unlocked. If it is not there in lies your problem with none of the sims working.

The phone is not unlocked however it does not need to be with straight talk as it's an MVNO of AT&T, similar to H20 wireless. It just odd that its not even recognizing a sim card is in it... My lumia 900 read the straight talk sim just fine and data ect. I would have thought the t-mobile card would have atleast prompted it with a invalid sim notification of some sort.

Last I checked and SIM other than an AT&T SIM will need to be unlocked. Call AT&T and the should do it for you for free.
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium

I would think it has to be the reader. Because I am talking on the straight talk sim on the lumia right now. No issues. I just can't even get the phone to recognize a sim has been inserted.

I think this will answer your question pretty well..

Atrix 2 Not reading SIM
I have an AT&T Atrix 2. I am using an AT&T sim card that works fine in my Captivate and SGS2. No matter what I do in RSD Lite, and no matter what I download I can't fix it. The phone turns on normally for the most part. The Android setup screen pops up for about 5 seconds then phone goes to "emergency calls only" lock screen. I'm assuming it's because it doesn't recognize the SIM motoblur and what-not.
Please Help!!!!

Sim card slot broken? *Pics* PLEASE HELP ?

First I apologize for starting a new thread for this, since I did create a new thread earlier today on receiving my phone, but right now I have a problem.
The phone I bought is apparently an M200 and was updated to Stock ICS (according to other members on this board). Well I got off work an hour ago, and went to the T-Mobile store to open a line, but before I did, I wanted to make sure the phone would work, so they inserted an active sim card and the phone just says no sim card installed, or something in those lines. We waited about 5 minutes hoping the phone would recognize the sim card, but it didn't. Then the T-Mobile rep took the sim card out and told me that my sim card slot looks funny.
Here is the pic of the sim card slot.

The T-Mobile rep showed me a Galaxy S2 sim card slot and #2 and #3 had "prongs" but my phone doesn't.
When I tilt the phone to look "inside" the slot I do see the other two, but it looks like it's flat?
Can someone here please help me confirm that is something wrong with my sim card slot or is it software base?
Thank you!
I can only tell you what my i9020a shows, and that's all 3 prongs. I can't say for sure how the m200 is supposed to look, but I assume it would be the same.

The SIM card slot should have 3 pins on top. You might want to check whether Korean SIM cards are different, or you bought a faulty product...
I just opened mine up, the bastard thing about Samsung is the connectors of each different models have different number of pins, so you can't even switch them even if the slot seems to fit, your only chance is to solder a replacement if you know how.
Otherwise it will cost you $80 to replace it with Samsung USA out of warranty. Or buy a broken Nexus S.
Isn't this hardware guaranty (correct English??). Return it to Samsung, or to where you bought your phone!
Greetzz, Jojoost.

I just got off the phone with Samsung USA technical support. They said since my phone is an international model, they cannot support/repair it.
This sucks
Do you guys think a i9020A or i9020T sim card slot would be the same as my M200?
Most likely.
Samsung Galaxy S II (SHW-M250S)
I also have a similar - need to replace the sim card tray/slot.
Can someone advise on the best approach? Is there any good online store for this part?

Do you have a PIN SIM lock on your card ? I had the issue when I put my cousins SIM card in my phone and couldn't unlock it (didn't get the PIN popup at start up). I've put it back in his phone and disabled the SIM lock there and put it back in my phone. After that, the network was found and I got the option in Security to set a SIM lock back (it wasn't there when the card was locked).

check if any of sim pins is bended
@lostman.it- it that you say was the problem.
Thank you all for comment, bye
This happened to me once before and it was because I inserted the sim the wrong way. There's only one way to insert the sim following the sim symbol near the slot. Worth a try to double check.

This may sound silly, but make sure you have the sim inserted correctly, i.e. correct orientation, seated well, etc.
Also, did you adjust the APN settings? And as was mentioned before, make sure your local network(s) support the same bands the i9020a does.
Btw, thumbs up if you forgot what GB looks like lol.

I noticed that sim reader was damaged! :banghead:
I have to put a little paper piece to force sim reading!

Nano-SIM from iPhone 5 in Galaxy S III

Hi All,
I have a Nano SIM from my iPhone 5 and I was trying to switch from an iPhone 5 to a GS3. I have a Noosy nanoSim adapter to convert it into microSIM. When I insert the SIM, I can't get it to activate. Are there some APN settings I need to change or something? I Know that AT&T has the same problems:

Any help would be appreciated!

I have the same question. The ICCID on a nano sim and a micro sim are the same length.
both go 89148000000123456789. So I don't think they're incompatible. We're missing something but I'm not sure what the prob is. You might (and I might) try cutting a micro sim down to work in the iphone and then should have no probs.
Hopefully someone will clarify this for both of us.
Edit: Customer service is telling me no.
Edit 2: for Clarity
Found this on a Cnet Article.
I verified this today with my Verizon 4g micro sim. I was able to cut it down to size and did not need to shave anything of of the width. It works perfectly!! We got our demo iPhone 5 in today and I tried right away!

So the best way (so far it seems) is to get a micro and trim to nano.
I'm Gonna check out the iphone forums.

So you were able to get a micro sim specified for Android, cut it down to nano, and be able to use it in a iPhone 5? Were you able to use that same nano, use a MicroSIM converter, and use it in the GS3? Both were able to be activated on the same SIM?
Sorry, No I have not tried this yet. I'll fix my post above. A user on a CNET article is who is confirming that cutting a micro sim down to a nano and they'll be interchangeable.
I don't have a sim cutter yet.
At worst you can just switch between them by using the MyVerizon Page. Each kind of sim card are re-usable So you can just leave your cards in the phones. They don't expire.

I used scissors. It worked. Now the problem is making it bigger again. And amazon comes to the rescue. Have a look at this.
http://www.amazon.com/Nano-Sim-Micr...sr=8-1&keywords=nano+sim+to+micro+sim+adapter
Its a buck fifty with free shipping...how much better can it get?
EDIT: This one is even cheaper!
http://www.amazon.com/iCoolkit-iPhone-Stander-Adapter-Holder/dp/B009ABEA7E/ref=pd_bxgy_pc_text_y
BTW: they are interchangable...i use this adapter all the time. I actually use a ATT sim in my gs3 and it works, so I cant say if the verizon nano sims are for sure, but I think they are if the ATT ones work.

Okay this is just plain wrong. It does work. Its just a different size. Scissors solve that problem.
Okay. Success.
Sorry I forgot about this for a couple of weeks.... but i have success to report. well atleast partial.
I cut down a Micro Sim to nano size and "activated" My nexus. Then put the cut-down micro in my iPhone and it was activated in a few mins.
So to get this to work. Go to a verizon store. "Activate" your S3 w/ a new sim.
Cut it down and itll work in the iphone. Data, calls, texts. All work.
I havent gotten my adapter yet to put it back into my Nexus. I'll report back when I have.
I'm using my iPhone 5's nano sim in my S3 right now. Just need an adapter to correct the size. Didn't have to call Verizon or anything. The joys of SIMs
Right we've seen on multiple threads about AT&T phones having no problems. But OP and I are trying to swap between the Verizon versions and he hadnt had any luck.
I got my adapter today. I put the cut down sim into my Nexus and got calls and text to work. The adapter was a little tight in the sim tray so I may need to file it just a little and it'll work .... I hope.
Forget everything I said.
The iPhone 5's nano sim is completely compatible.
I just reactivated my 5 w/ a nano sim and then put it in my Nexus. As it was turning on it called *22899 it's own. working fine now. Very Sweet.
I did have to file the sides of the Noosi adapter a little it wasn't sliding in easy.
I was re-reading the posts and saw that fuego3048 said "you don't have to call Verizon customer service." Missed that the first time. Sorry, credit to fuego3048.

Sadly, LTE is throttled to 5mbps :/ the AT&T sim would've been a much better choice considering HSPA+ alone is faster.

does the data work when using the phone (voice and data)?
I have att straight talk also and I do agree with att ST I get anywhere from 15mb -20 but I happen to work in a dead zone and I work 12 hour days ...lonely days lol and Verizon ST I get full bars so the trade off is good and still watch YouTube in HD
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
How did you activate the device? I know a few workarounds, but when I try to activate on straight talk it forces the use of the at&t compatible sim card? The only way I know to use the Verizon towers are by giving ST an actual Verizon phone's IMEI, or by taking an already active sim from another Straight Talk - Verizon phone.

Well I tried on the web sight but it kept giving me the run around not letting me activate it, so I called ST and they helped me out and was up and running in about 10 minutes , oh I also bought a Verizon Straight Talk Sim for it

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I have a question regarding ST/Verizon SIM activation.
When I enter my IMEI on StraightTalk's website, it shows it is compatible with the Verizon CMDA network, however the registration/activation process fails. I called ST, and they asked for my IMEI and are now telling me this device will not work with the Verizon network. Website still says it will work.
What process did you go through to get yours active using the ST/Verizon SIM card? The online process asks for my ZIP and IMEI, then SIM card number, then tells me the SIM is invalid. It never asks for the Network Access Code. Where is this used? Thanks for any input anybody can provide. I am currently using the phone with ST/AT&T but the signal in my area is terrible, Verizon is much better here.
I got it figured out. After numerous Straight Talk reps telling me the X Pure is not CDMA compatible, I decided to try activating using the IMEI of the device rather than the ST/VZW SIM card number. This worked like a charm. Still insert the SIM, everything is working as it should, voice, data (LTE).

OnePlus 8t TMobile Version - Question

So I have a kind of odd question maybe. I just purchased a OnePlus 8t but I don't want to make it my active phone yet so the sim card for it is not activated yet. My question is if I rebrand the phone from TMobile to global before I activate sim will it still be able to connect to TMobile to activate the sim?
The sim is not linked to the phone.
Put the sim in an OG Pixel and you should be able to activate it.
I considered switching to Global Rom, but I read that there were issues with the radio & Tmob.
Might be true might not.

Quite a while ago I was on Global with the Tmob device. I did see lower signal strength and poorer 5G performance so I switched back to stock. That being said, I didn't play with adding stock TMob modems to global. It could be at this point they've got it figured out (and if they do I may switch back) but for now I'm happy with the Tmob ROM.

It's true but also to start from what's said earlier, I thought Metro T-Mobile assigned SIM cards to IMEI numbers? I was with Metro once and went from the unlocked phone I was using to an unlocked OnePlus and it wouldn't function until I called them and gave them the information like IMEI then they tried to charge me for it and I told him I could go over to boost if I wanted to and they did it for free one time LOL nonetheless point being it was phone specific
