Ok so I bought transformer pad 300 from bestbuy like 2 days ago, and it was keep rebooting like every 24 hours or something like that! I thought that it was because I updated the firmware and didn't factory reset it. So I decided to factory reset it. But before I did that, I went to asus backup app to backup all my stuff. While it was backing it, my tablet decided to reboot itself! When it got rebooted, there was a screen saying how encryption failed and how I now need to reset it. After I reset it, it rebooted again and showed that screen again! 3rd time, while it was working, I went to settings and then manually reset it. Then it magically made me use the tablet! But now, some actions doesn't work whatsoever and is acting very weirdly! Can someone plz help me?

Take it back, could be a defective unit. Shouldn't be a problem at Best Buy.

Save your self the head ache and take it back and get a new one
The unit is defective
return it. I had to return four before i got one that worked right.

You guys are right. I'm just gonna return it...

Yup, if you haven't already done so, return it. I had the exact same issues with my first one. Except it was rebooting almost every 20 minutes.
Exchanged at Best Buy, and got a good one now. Nice tablet.
Although the charger seems to get extremely hot when charging...

This has bugged me forever, and I've never seen anyone else talk about it, and it's a difficult/impossible thing to search for. If you turn your screen off while docked, then close the netbook, does your screen turn on? Mine does. my screen timeout is set to 5 minutes (since I use it like a laptop) so this is annoying as it drains an extra 5 minutes of battery. Anyone figured out a fix for this?
Sent from my Transformer TF101
mine was doing that all last week and it was killing my batterylife so that i would have 0 in dock and 60 in tab at the end of the day vs my normal 60in dock 100 in tab. i just reflashed revolver and rebooted a couple times and it seemed to have fixed the problem
It definitely is annoying, I agree. One thing that I've been doing is making sure the screen is on before I close the lid. At this point it has become second nature for me to do that when I stop using my tablet, and as such less annoying.
Still, a permanent fix would be nice.

I've reflashed many times and this issue has existed for as long as I can remember (back when I originally bought the device). No amount of reboots has helped, unfortunately...

Holy ****. This is fixed in CM9. It only took a year and unofficial developers to get it done. Now, to try to untrain my muscle memory from turning the screen on every time I close the device...

So, I just bought the tablet today, and I really like it, minus a rather strange issue.
I read about the firmware update to .29 that would resolve the screen flickering issue, but when running the firmware update out of the box I am now on .30, and the screen still flickers.
I have played around with settings and such, but I haven't found a way to get rid of the flickering, even on the latest firmware. Is there a way to resolve this? Perhaps flashing the .29 firmware when in recovery, and if so how do I do that?
And it is not just specifically the "flicker from the left side of the left side of the screen" issue. It seems to happen all over the place, it is really noticeable in the app drawer, all the icons flicker like the image is unstable.

Hi, I just got mine as well. I had some weird flickering issues which I managed to get rid of by turning off the auto-brightness setting. HTH.
No that didn't help...in fact that seemed to make it worse. I am starting to wonder if its a hardware defect. I do have two weeks to exchange it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Try doing a factory reset. If that doesn't work return it for an exchange.

Problem solved! They gave me a full refund!
So my first Transformer had this weird random reboots, so I exchanged it for a new one. This one was working fine until few days ago and it started to randomly reboot again
I did nothing to my Transformer and it is fully stock and the bootloader is locked. Is this a common problem? Is there any fix to it? Thanks

Try doing a factory reset and see if you get the same problem, if you do you should exchange it again. It is also possible that an app or appsre causing the problem, so after the reset just try for a while without restoring the apps you have downloaded

Right, could anyone tell me the problem here? My touchscreen has become crap recently. It's really frustrating now, so much so that i find myself punching the screen! (not too hard though, lol).Usually i'm docked, but even then i use the touchscreen and sometimes it doesn't respond to any input. At other times, it recognises some random input not by me. Like whilst i'm in the browser, i can scroll down properly at times because it starts zooming in or something. It didn't happen a lot initially. but i'm noticing it a lot recently. I asked ASUS and they just told me to factory reset but backup my data. When i asked how, they sent me the entire manual. Could it be a hardware problem? If so, would it be better to get it replaced from where it was bought or to just send it to ASUS?
THANKS for any responses.

I have the same problem. I haven't found any fix yet, the only work around I've found is to turn off the screen. After I turn it on again the problem is gone. I'll try and use a touchscreen tester app when the screen goes crazy again. The random touches seems to be concentrated on the upper right corner of the screen. I doubt that it's hardware problem though.
Yeah, that worked for me sometimes but other times it didn't. Trying a factory reset now.

A factory reset seems to have fixed it for me. Tablet also seems smoother. Chrome is still a bit crap though. I backed up my apps using ASUS app backup.
EDIT: rebooted my tablet afterwards whilst docked and somehow my old wallpaper came back. However, the tablets gone back to performing wose now...

Off topic, but does anyone know how to get my email to check it's inbox automatically without me having to open the app each time? I mean the Asus stock email app. Last I checked, i always have to start the app after which it checks the inbox. I'd rather it be done in the background so i get live updates. Thanks for any help

I has similar issues with my first TF300. I exchanged it for a new one and had no problems. I would probably just exchange the one you've got. My second TF300 had sound issues, and I held on to it past the exchange period and had to send it in to ASUS for repair. They had it for over a month. Should have just exchanged that one also.

Above question and it seems that the touchscreen problem is back. Really don't understand. It can't be a hardware issue if it goes after a factory reset surely?

Hello everyone, I have tf300 with 4.2.1 rooted and busybox installed
It had been amazing but just today, I got a random reboot when I was watching videos with YouTube app.
This isn't a thread where someone goes "baaaaaaaaaaaa somethings wrong!!! Someone help" but I just want to know whether or not it's a problem with my tablet (maybe a bad flash or something) or it is an actual firmware problem.
Thanks!

Yours seems to be worse than mine. I've been running my tablet on 4.2.1 for quite a time now but this is the first time... Maybe it is the bad flash. Used to happen on ICS on my first TF300 (Exchanged it). I guess I'll wait another day or so and see if the problem persists or it's one time thing.

Yea seems to be get it quite often not sure why. Was on all stock when updated got it ota then unlocked the bootloader so not sure why was thinking of sending it back to newegg for and exchange but they're slow as all hell put in for an rma earlier this week like monday they're supposed to send me the shipping label haven't gotten it yet. Was printed already its only good for 7 days by the time it gets here will be no good. Figures. Would rather find a way to fix it maybe ill try a reflash like you mentioned.
Also didn't mention bought it as refurb which may have been the original issue prior to them reselling it. Who knows.

Your not the only one gonna try to reinstall the update when its a good time to go through the whole process of setting it back up. Was gonna root it any way so no point to get an exchange if can be fixed. If send it to asus theres a chance they can repair it and lose unlock bootloader and not be able to regain it happened to a couple people on here. When i try it will repost if anything changes.

Ota really screwed it up glad don't have to send it back to newegg. Although didn't sound like yours had as bad of issue should probably fix it. Good luck.

I got a random reboot today whilst going through the painful experience of browsing with this tablet. It took about 5 minutes or more to start up again and when it did, the system UI kept crashing which made the tablet hard to use as the message kept popping up. Thereafter, when i tried to reboot using the power settings, it froze. Very frustrating. I was able to sort it by holding the power button to turn it off and then turning it back on. It seems to work fine for now but it's something that shouldn't be happening. I'm stock and unrooted

Hm... seems like many people are experiencing this? Maybe it is a problem with the firmware itself?

This was driving me crazy until i realized that every time it rebooted automatic updates were running. Not sure how this happened, maybe corruption caused by play updates running when android updated. Uninstalling the 4 perpetually updating apps and reinstalling seems to have corrected the problem (or it's a lucky coincidence).
I was also having wireless dropouts, not sure how that would be related to updates but seems to have stopped now, possibly the updating process was spinning or using some other resource. I definitely recommend disabling auto updates and seeing if that helps.
