Display turning on by itself for no reason

Does it happens to others that the D2G turns the display on by itself for no reason? This happens to my D2G all the time and for no apparent reason. What can be the real reason or is it just a bug on android 2.2 or a hardware issue?

Do you receiving text messages correlate with your screen turning on?
I DO have the same 'problem' with my desire hd. Every once and a wile the screen turns on by it Self with no reason. Dont know why this is, there is no message comming in or anything else, it just turns on. I know my touch HD had the same thing every night at 2359 hours. Weird stuff these phones;-)

I believe this happens when you tick the "in pocket detection" option under settings>display. It supposedly turns off the screen and locks the phone automatically when its in your pocket.
Try turning that option off and let me know how that goes.

In pocket detection is not checked on my D2G and it does this sometimes, I rarely notice it, but once in a while when it hasn't been touched and is just sitting next to me on the couch and never got a txt message or sort of notification or update it will turn the screen on. It is so rare that I think nothing of it really, but it is definitely weird.
Well, it is not weird, it seems it is a bug on Froyo. It happens all the time and it has nothing to do with text messages coming in. I am not sure about the in pocket detection. It happens while laying over a table by itself. These are the things that make me think Android is still experimental, kind a like windows mobile always was.

Maybe it happens when the phone looses connection with the network.

I noticed my D2G doing this sometimes. Turns out it was crashing and doing a short reboot (just android logo for a few seconds and right to lock screen, not a full reboot with the M logo etc.)
Same here with HTC Desire. Looking for a solution. This is really annoying!
I am beginning to think that when i cancel data and it only works on 2G, it doesnt turn the display on by itself. Maybe it has to do with the phone working on GSM instead of CDMA, which is my case.

I am almost sure display comes on thanks to an application you have installed. If you have time to waste - start fresh (factory reset) and check if phone does it again with no extra apps loaded.
I suspect that the cause of the display turning on is the window that pops up everytime I loose connection with the network asking if I want to switch to Global mode since there are no GSM/UMTS networks available...

Finally I found The Reason
Some installed apps works without permission ,,,, so the screen turns on every short time<<<,
For example the reson of turning on the display on my phone < that i have installed a livewallpaper ""morph.galaxytt.apk or Morphing Galaxy LiveWallpaper" so this livewallpaper ""even if i not using it "" will work on services causind the screen turns on
so you have to go to "setting/Applications/Running Srvices" and stop the apps thats working without permission
Note that i have been forced to uninstall morph.galaxytt.apk after that my phone screen stays off <<<<
Press Thank button if you benefit from this Reply &&& sorry for my bad english

[Q] contacts message drag not working

Hello,
I recently noticed that the function where you drag left on a contact to message the contact is not working. If i drag right, it will call as it is suppose to, so it is just the messaging drag that isnt working. Now if I try it in the messaging screen, it will work fine. Anyone else experience this before? any suggestions?
Thanks,
what rom are you running?
this might be as simple as just pullin the battery out for about 10 seconds for a reset.

[Q] ICS Real Thing

I've installed ICS: The Real Thing and it's a beautiful ROM. I have an issue with deleting an entire message thread. Each time I try to do so, it vibrates, turns black, and says messaging has stopped working. It then force closes.
Also, I am unable to set permissions for TiBu. I went to settings>security>unknown sources (checked the box).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

And for the Good Cop answer: it's a common bug in UCAL4, delete via the menu rather than long pressing the thread/message.
Promiseofcake, thank you.

Is it possible to get a smaller battery icon and signal meter for this beautiful ROM?

4G keeps turning on

Title + I've checked all the settings and can't find where this is coming from. It only started when I reinstalled sky ics update. I have a limited plan and mostly use wifi. The 4G turns on even if I'm connected to wifi. I even have background data restricted. Any ideas?

Like using data turning on? Or just the symbol is showing?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Sometimes it's just the symbol but it's hard to say. When I unlock it I hear a tone and the 4G turns on. Both the widget in the notification bar and my other power bar light up the 4G icon and I see the icon up by the battery indicator show up and show data moving.

Your phone will always send data if you have the autosync (in your notification bar or accounts and sync in settings) but it probably won't send much. If your on I cs then you can keep track of your data usage in the settings menu. The third option.......just turn mobile data on and it will start tracking how much you use. If its using a lot then an app (e.g. facebook) is sending data constantly. You can change the apps (whatever one) setting to not auto update or update less often. My 4g icon is on all the time but uses little data. Hope this helps.
And you can turn your data toggle(4g) off when your on wifi or just when you need to check stuff. You'll still get texts. Just won't be using data
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
It doesn't seem to be using much data, but simply toggling the 4G button doesn't work because it just turns back on by itself. I'd like it to stay off when I set it as off. btw, I'm pretty sure I have no apps set to auto update (I like to have control of what goes on my phone). I'll double check to be sure. Thanks!

[Q] HTC One S Phone not at front

Hello,
I can only access my phone through the "Car" App, so it takes me about 4 clicks to make a call.
I took it back to the shop and they kept it for 3 hours and then gave up.
I will have probably have to send it away, but can anyone advise me?
The Phone icon only appears when I open Manage Apps or All Apps in Settings/Menu.
But I can't move it, drag it, or change (or even open) any of the permissions attached to it
I cannot drag the phone icon anywhere either.
Any help out there???
Thanks,
Rachel
