I downloaded the original fancy widget app a while back, the one that looks like htc's that was banned. It is still loaded on my phone as an app, but I cannot find the apk that I downloaded. Usually they're in my download folder but I may have deleted it by mistake. I wanna send the apk to my brother.. anyone know where I find it to do this? Or do I need the original file? Thanks.

If you are rooted use a app like root explorer and go to your root and navigate to /data/app and long press and hit send you can also long press copy then navigate to your download folder and paste it then send it from there

I was messing with my newly rooted A2 while driving (I know, it's a big no no ><) and I accidentally deleted swype. I tried factory resetting the phone and now all that shows up is the Multi touch keyboard in settings. Can anyone post it so I can re-install it?
Here ya go. And remember no playing with your phone while driving...You could really mess up your phone.
Thank you! I installed it but it's not working?? I did it like a regular app, am I supposed to install it in a different way??

You have to use root explorer and put it into /system/apps/ folder then restart the phone.
I did and still nothing >< do I need to set permissions??
Edit: or maybe I need the .odex file that comes with it?? I'm just giving ideas :/

Ok so I messed around with the permissions a bit and I can get Swype to appear in the settings and input method BUT it keeps FC whenever I try to access swype settings or switch to it as my keyboard. Any suggestions?? DO I need the .odex file??
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
you need to fix permissions and need the odex file, as well as the libSwypeCore.so file from /system/lib
I overwrote the latinIME.apk and latinIME.odex on my atrix 2 and forgot to backup can someone get me the stock apk and odex files? and will using root explorer work or will i have to use adb? thanks in advance, i'm kinda new at this.
nevermind, i found the post with all of the system apps, it's right here if anyone needs it.

Do NOT use root explorer EVER, to put system files in place. ALWAYS use adb to push the files, then chmod them to 550 once they are moved into place.

Working here. Move to system, set permissions, and install are the steps that got it working on my skyrocket. Sky ICS UCLA4 Latest + Modem. Nice visuals.

On pc open up file with winzip or winrar and go into lib and armeabi and copy the .so file onto sdcard. Using root explorer copy .so file into system/lib fix permissions and restart phone and all should be ok. I have heard of people having to find their voice talk and voice command files and delete them because they were conflicting with s-voice.
Installed just fine for me from apk. Works pretty good. But once you say a command it stops it doesn't continue listening.

Installs fine, opens fine, scribes the command you say fine.. But the moment you try and touch any button or click the command you entered it just crashes. And i set permissions...

first thing i did was rename vlingo.apk to .old, and voicetalk.apk to .old. tried copying in the new voicetalk.apk, no luck off the bat, got in, got through the setup screen but force closes after that. Just tried moving the .so file in and wiping the cache's and fixing permissions. still getting a force close. suggestions?
edit: clearing app cache seems to have fixed it, even tried that woodchuck thing. impressive.
edit 2: iphones recognition seems to be about as accurate for what I tried, however it did come up with the answers far quicker.

Same issues getting it to work without FC'ing - same suggestions above apply? Going to mess with it but don't have a lot of free time today and tomorrow
So after a bit of playing around i figured out that if you push it to the system/app folder and fix the permissions, then go back in the system/app folder and install the apk like a normal app, its been working fine. Had one FC since, but working 100% better then before. Goodluck!

fastest way
1) put on SD card
2) use root explorer (or whatever app you use, copy file to system/app
3) set permission (RW- R-- R--)
4) reboot
5) look in app drawer and open. works fine hasn't force closed yet.
If you tried another way and it failed you must delete the one out of your system/app, reboot and then follow the steps exactly.
yes you must be on ICS
Im using Alien ICS ★ Build #8 ★ it works great
thanx romracer
So I recently rooted my phone and decided to flash a .zip to add a wifi toggle to the notifications menu. It was only after I flashed it that I realized that the .zip was for ICS, and I am running OTA Jelly Bean. My phone isn't bricked, but when I turn it on I receive a message stating that "systemui.apk has stopped responding", which makes it impossible to do almost anything on the phone. I found the Jelly Bean systemui.apk, but I have no way of getting it onto my phone or SD card (my computer recognizes my phone as a CD, and I can't find the setting to make it recognized as a media device). My question to you is, is there any way to get the .zip onto my phone without having to buy a card reader for my computer?
Dropbox?

My suggestions: reinstall Samsung drivers, use adb, restore a nandroid, or flash ROM in Odin.

I managed to get the .apk file onto my phone, but I am unable to install it. I have enabled the installation of apps from outside the play store so I am confused as to why I can't install it. Does anyone know how I can install it?
Have you put it in the correct folder? If so, have you changed the permissions of the file to that of the rest of the files in the folder?

I put in in the /system/apps folder, and changed the permissions to match the other files. Still no luck installing. What are my options at this point?
I solved the problem by simply restarting my phone, the systemui.apk is not an app you can manually install!
Guys I have been trying to download apk files on my phone whether it is direct on phone or by pc it will not take. I have unknown sources checked. I am lost on this one.
Any help would be great!

How about trying a different browser?
clean Rom/xda powerd by zero-lemon & tweaked out!!
Whether issue is with not able to download apk files or installing the apk files?
It is with bringing apk file on phone. If coming from pc I have to rename it to a zip file. It like the phone doesn't recognize the file type.

Phone is rooted also.

If the file is renamed to zip. Then when you completed copying file from pc to phone again rename the file with apk extension.
I. E. If you have abc.apk and you rename to abc.zip while copying to phone, then rename file to abc.apk and install it
Thanks doesn't hurt....
I know that thanks for your help though but I hope I fixed it. After rebooting phone several times it dawned on me to unmount and remount sd card. Tried it and worked. We'll see if it worked 100%. Lol
