I was messing with my newly rooted A2 while driving (I know, it's a big no no ><) and I accidentally deleted swype. I tried factory resetting the phone and now all that shows up is the Multi touch keyboard in settings. Can anyone post it so I can re-install it?
Here ya go. And remember no playing with your phone while driving...You could really mess up your phone.
Thank you! I installed it but it's not working?? I did it like a regular app, am I supposed to install it in a different way??

You have to use root explorer and put it into /system/apps/ folder then restart the phone.
I did and still nothing >< do I need to set permissions??
Edit: or maybe I need the .odex file that comes with it?? I'm just giving ideas :/

Ok so I messed around with the permissions a bit and I can get Swype to appear in the settings and input method BUT it keeps FC whenever I try to access swype settings or switch to it as my keyboard. Any suggestions?? DO I need the .odex file??
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
you need to fix permissions and need the odex file, as well as the libSwypeCore.so file from /system/lib
I overwrote the latinIME.apk and latinIME.odex on my atrix 2 and forgot to backup can someone get me the stock apk and odex files? and will using root explorer work or will i have to use adb? thanks in advance, i'm kinda new at this.
nevermind, i found the post with all of the system apps, it's right here if anyone needs it.

Do NOT use root explorer EVER, to put system files in place. ALWAYS use adb to push the files, then chmod them to 550 once they are moved into place.

Hey all.
I was messing around today and decided to post this. If not for the current lack of development, I probably wouldn't even post this.
Just push twframework-res.apk with adb, root explorer or root manager. be sure you overwrite the existing .apk.
The screenshot posted below was taken on the fly. you'll notice I'm using TEAM AERODKNG's Notification bar... Frankly, their theme is radness, but I thought maybe someone would want a little change!
word up, folks. happy MoDding.

LOL Corradokng hooked it up with a flashable framework-res.apk. Im back and will try this again. Im a goof ball and didnt check but since im back up i went into system/framework and see the following files, twframework-res.apk and framework-res.apk. go into framework folder and copy twframework-res.apk to a safe place on your sd card, in case you want to revert. With the file in the OP paste it into that directory, making sure you have w/r in root explorer or whatever you use.

if your follwing the process verbatim and nothing is happening try super manager or another file manager with root permissions. It should work without a hitch

@Ricky download file to your computer hook your phone up to the computer mount phone to computer (USB mass storage) right click file go down to send to and send it to the proper mass storage for your phone I have vista so that's how it works for me that should put the file on the root of your SD card open root explorer first go into system/framework go down to the twres apk long press it and select copy you will see paste at the bottom of your screen hit the back button twice go down to SD and put the copy in any sub folder you may want I use downloads then go down to the new file on your SD card from robbitt long press it hit move go back to system/framework in the upper right hand corner you will see a r/w press that then hit paste it will say it already exists do u want overwrite click yes back out then reboot should work with no problem.I think what u did was move the orig twres file instead of copying it hope this helps you.And thanks to robbitt love this mod sometimes its just the little things

On pc open up file with winzip or winrar and go into lib and armeabi and copy the .so file onto sdcard. Using root explorer copy .so file into system/lib fix permissions and restart phone and all should be ok. I have heard of people having to find their voice talk and voice command files and delete them because they were conflicting with s-voice.
Installed just fine for me from apk. Works pretty good. But once you say a command it stops it doesn't continue listening.

first thing i did was rename vlingo.apk to .old, and voicetalk.apk to .old. tried copying in the new voicetalk.apk, no luck off the bat, got in, got through the setup screen but force closes after that. Just tried moving the .so file in and wiping the cache's and fixing permissions. still getting a force close. suggestions?
edit: clearing app cache seems to have fixed it, even tried that woodchuck thing. impressive.
edit 2: iphones recognition seems to be about as accurate for what I tried, however it did come up with the answers far quicker.

So after a bit of playing around i figured out that if you push it to the system/app folder and fix the permissions, then go back in the system/app folder and install the apk like a normal app, its been working fine. Had one FC since, but working 100% better then before. Goodluck!

fastest way
1) put on SD card
2) use root explorer (or whatever app you use, copy file to system/app
3) set permission (RW- R-- R--)
4) reboot
5) look in app drawer and open. works fine hasn't force closed yet.
If you tried another way and it failed you must delete the one out of your system/app, reboot and then follow the steps exactly.
yes you must be on ICS
Im using Alien ICS ★ Build #8 ★ it works great
thanx romracer
I didn't make this but just wanted to share since it works on our device...
simply unzip the file, use root explorer to copy the lib file and the app, set app permissions correctly, install, then reboot!

These are the steps you have to do if you want this work. Even though it is a zip file you do not flash it in cwm. Its not gonna work that way. You have to extract the files so you can get the apk file and others needed to do the steps above. You will also need a file explorer that allows you to get to the system files. I used es file explorer its free on the market. Follow the steps above and this will work..

Hello. Firts off I have a two part question. I have a sensation 4g hboot 1.27.xxx running bruce2728 cm10 rom, s-off, 4ext recovery touch, fw3.33. I have never had any major problems with this rom. The latest update to 10/25 I lost the sound recorder app. I downloaded the apk and installed it and it shows up in the system/app folder but not in the app drawer. I have tried to install the app from es file manager as well as placing the .apk in the system/app file and rebooting with same results. My first question is in regaurd to this, how do I install this app as a system app? I have done this before with superSU but it isn't working this time. My second question is how do you know what permissions to set for an .apk? I know how to fix permissions via recovery and also how to change them with root explorer but not, how to figure out what they are supposed to be. An explanation in layman's terms please would be appreciated.

*disregard my comment. I observe i have the apk in system folder too but not appearing in the drawer. Apologize for the misunderstanding*
It will show up once you set the right permission... to know what permission to set, just check other apps permission in the same folder. I usually use root explorer, long touh the apk and select permission.
Cant upload pic. Link shows how the permission should look like.

I have checked the permissions and they were the same as all the .apks in the file and it still doesn't show up in the app drawer. I even tried to fix permissions thru recovery and after reboot, still nothing.
The permissions for everything in the file are rw-r--r--.

You can copy a system apk and save it in /sdcard/ for example, and then copy it back to /system/app using a filebrowser with root-function, such as ES File Explorer, Root Explorer etc. No need for adb if you dont want to.
But I doubt the stock camera app will work on an AOSP build.

If you installing the camera from say CM10 which I would call stock for AOSP but I think Goatshocker thinks you on about the Sense camera.
If you use his app then load it up connect it to pc with usb debugging on and then replace Gallery2.apk and then reboot, oh and a tip don't let the app install it but just push the apk.
Also, the All In One Kit can push them too yes?

No idea on that but Goatshocker app works fine for what you want to do.
Did you sort this yet?
When you said "stock camera", I obviously assumed you ment the stock camera that comes with the phone, which means - sense.
Moving the camera between different AOSP roms shouldnt cause any issue. Neither should moving the sense camera between sense roms.
But moving the Sense camera to an AOSP rom - thats what I doubt will work.
In any case, you can always (if youre rooted, obviously ) copy the camera apk and replace it. If it doesnt work it wont start, thats it. The actuall copy/replace will still work.
Do note that you might need to reboot the phone after modifying /system/ applications.
In very rare cases you might have to do it through a recovery, using ADB, because the system might block access (similar to windows "the file is in use" message when trying to change an open file).
In any case, you should always back up the file you are replacing, before replacing it, in case the new file doesnt work.
I usually do it an ugly way, simply renaming the old file to "blabla.apk_"
That way the file will still be there, but the system wont recognize it as an application. If the new file works as it should, I go back and delete the ".apk_" file.
Just to clarify a final time: Replacing the camera app in /system/ will in 99% of the cases work with a root explorer on the phone, the last 1% might need to use ADB while in recovery or bootloader.
