Interesting Read - Motorola Atrix 2

Found this while doing my daily Android reading.

Yeah this looks very nice.... but I am guessing it still is going to have a locked bootloader, and that makes this one a no-way for me..

I do like the way it looks but I'm content with what ive got. Ours will hopefully get there soon.

So if that is the ATRIX 3 then it won't be quad core if its an LTE phone right.

Heres another one that tells the specs.

I think I'm with jimbridgman on this, when the SGS3 comes out I may just take out another 2 year and get that bad bay. Though, I'm not sure if that's just my geekitivity coming out and clouding my better judgement, but I'm considering it. I will keep my A2 as a back up though.

I'm with jim and apex,but sgs3 i don't think it worth a price to replace my a2.
I think i'll wait arm a15 and omap 5.

Yup... gotta say htc is lookin good lately.... the one would have been cool but the non removable bat and lack of sdcard are a deal breaker too..... honestly i dont even know what i want now but an unlocked bootloader is a must on the list...... sucks too i like my a2.....

You might want to read up on htc, if you are talking about the one x. That phone from what I've been reading has quite a few issues. The only way to go for that phone is the international one. Quad Core.

Motorola has definitely heard our out cries about the BL and still haven't done anything. Which makes me think they aren't ever going to. for instance, on their Facebook page they will post something such as, "what is your favorite tv show" and over 50% of the comments are completely unrelated. And those unrelated comments are about unlocking the bootloader.

Kind of stupid if you ask me... the A2 is underrated in the market and didn't have a very successful launch. Only reason I got it was because I loved the first one, and I am happy with this one as well. Motorola would make good money if they unlocked bootloaders and wouldn't have to replace as many handsets if they already came unlocked.. or maybe I'm missing something? Their marketing team has to be smarter than that.

The carrier has some say but ultimately it's up to whoever makes the phones... and Motorola keeps saying that we're going to have unlocked bootloaders but how long has the A2 been out and nothing? That's why people are going to Samsung, easier to mess around with. If I pay for something I wanna be able to use it to it's full potential! But I hate Samsung so I'll remain with my atrix for the time being. And if by the time I can upgrade I don't have an unlocked bootloader or a newer Motorola android w unlocked bootloader then I am going to iPhone (if there's a jailbreak for the 5 by that time).

I really don't care about hacking method for using internal memory. The simple reason that is memory cards in our country are very cheap, just $6/14/25 for geniune 8/16/32G Sandisk class 4.

I notice there's a multi boot app for the gs2 that allows the user to boot into different rims via different button combinations but is there any sort that will work for the skyrocket aswell??

Agreed the only plus for the Inspire was the forum on here for it is really good, and it was easy to root and flash correctly.
Also side note I'd be willing to do some snooping around to figure out how to port some kind of multiboot to the Skyrocket.
However I feel like the major hardware differences will be major problems am I right?

FWIW, Init2Winit recently announced that they are looking for someone to continue development on BootManager Pro. I used it on my old Inspire 4G and it worked great. Still looking for something...Anything...like it for the SGH-i727. I have zero coding skills, so if you think you can do something with it, please contact them for the sake of the community!

Skyrocket worth it?

I currently have an atrix 4g, OG, and I've become real interested in the skyrocket. It has really awesome specs. Do you guys like your phone? I'm going to pick up a skyrocket in a few weeks and would like to know what you guys think of the phone. Do you have a good dev community and support?
Let me know what you guys think!

Forgot to mention that we can flash roms for the T-Mobile galaxy s2 since they are so similar. And a lot of their devs usually bring some of their stuff to our phone blindly developing it so we really have a lot of developers.

Skyrocket is a great phone, but I would get the SIII in a few weeks. Superior phone, and will probably have a ton of DEV support.

I LOVE this phone. No problems. Seriously, it's a great piece of hardware. I think by time my contract comes up next year, it still will feel fresh.
Add me to the list of those who recently "upgraded" from Moto Atrix to S2SR. Atrix was a good phone, but it had a serious restart/reboot problem no matter if I was on a call, texting, listening to music or watching movies/videos. I eventually sold it a month or two ago for a used SR with Otterbox Defender case. Cost of SR - profit from Atrix = $110 out of pocket. I'd say that was worth it...haha!
Anyway, for the S2SR, my only complaint is how often I lose bluetooth and wi-fi (at home) or 4G for data. I'm constantly re-connecting to my headset or checking the "Use Packet Data" box in Mobile Network. I keep a Settings shortcut on my home screen because I lose connection daily...gets annoying.
So do you guys use ODIN frequently? What is a modem? Where does unlocking the boot loader come into place? For the atrix, ODIN is RSD and we usually never use it, its either fast boot or cwm. and we just have kernals and roms and basebands when needed. Sorry for all the questions. I don't want to brick it when I get it

Yep, I've already downoaded the Canadian TWRP (since ATT doesn't have one yet) and Slim Bean 4.2.2.
Just waiting on the hack to be released. Dude isn't holding it back for just nothing I'm sure. Prolly is making sure it works consistently on all phones before releasing.
The thing about software hacks... just because it works on one model of phone, doesn't mean it won't break another phone of the SAME model. Stuff like that happens all the time.
