if you are rooted and have clockworkmod installed you could try wiping battery stats within the clockworkmod settings?
Thanks for letting me know. Forgot to say in the OP that I'm not rooted. I've been shying away since due to the wiping of the device. Might have to do that anyway for a factory reset, to see if that might help.

i have had a look around and it seems you need to have root access - you could try this
1. Run down your device’s battery until it turns itself off
2. Turn it back on and wait for it to turn off again; this may be straight away of after a few minutes
3. Remove the battery for at least 20 seconds
4. Replace the battery and charge until full and then for at least another hour – while the device is off
5. Delete you batterystats.bin file using one of 3 methods (requires root): Terminal Emulator – type su then press enter, next type ‘rm /data/system/batterystats.bin’ (without quotes). Using a Battery Calibration App (from market) – there are many choices available, they just delete your batterystats.bin file. In market, search for battery calibration. Make sure to read review and provided info in case of device incompatibilities. Manually – if for any reason the previous two methods didn’t work you may want to try deleting the file manually. Using a file manager with root access (such as Root Explorer) navigate to ‘data/system/batterystats.bin’. Delete ‘batterystats.bin’
6. Your device will now creates itself a new batterystats.bin file with a correct 100% battery reading
7. Run down the battery until it turns itself off
8. Turn on the device and charge for at least 8 hours
9. Unplug the device, turn off and charge for another hour
10. Unplug the device, turn on and wait for 2 mins
11. Turn off and charge for another hour
12. Use the device as normal

or just root and install cwm and wipe battery stats - hope this helps
No Go Rooted this weekend and still 0% battery. Wiped stats with CWM and deleted the bin file, tried different calibration tools. Still same problem. Charges though, and the indicator light changes once fully charged, but still flying blind...

I'm on Darkyy's v8.0 ROM and without a SIM card. Since I'm without a SIM card the phones time without signal is 100%. My phones standy by time is also equal to the up time of the phone. Is this normal...? My battery is draining unusually fast. I've checked OSmonitor and I get LOTS of errors, but I'm not sure what causes them.
I found the same with that rom suggest use another rom as it fixed my battery drain .

Why not put it in aeroplane mode?

Not sure about other non battery errors:
As for the Battery problem on v8.0
You can either upgrade to V9.1 and/or try the following which is found in their website
(Search for Darky ROM Calibrate Battery)
Calibrating Battery with Darky's ROM:
1. Use your phone until the phone switches itself off (battery empty)
2. Switch on once more to make sure battery really is 0% (it will then immediately switch off once more)
3. Now, keep switched off (!), plug in charger & leave in charging until 100%
4. When battery is full, switch the phone on, unplug & check if the batter immediately drops 1 or 2 %
5. If battery immediately drops, plug in charger once more (while running phone) & let it charge completely
6. Once charging to 100% is done, keep charger plugged in & Reboot into Recovery Mode
7. in Recovery Mode go to: advanced --> Wipe Battery Stats --> Yes-Wipe Battery Stats
8. When done: Go To --> reboot system now
9. Once system has rebooted, unplug charger
Try Simply Galaxy 2.4.1 with ROM JS5, i can run 1.5 day with moderate use of Wifi, browsing and email
Yeah I've had the same experience after upgrading to 9.x, I tried all the usual recalibration tricks and even bought a new battery. i'll give another rom a shot to see if battery life returns to normal.
I highly recommend Juwe's 1.5.5, fast, stable and great battery life.

DO NOT POST QUESTIONS IN THIS THREAD. If you don't know how to perform certain steps then search for how to's elsewhere or pm me or jump into the irc Channel and ask. The point of this thread is to post fixes you've used for issues in cm7 or while trying to flash cm7 without all the clutter in a general cm7 thread to make it easier to find answers and to keep a little clutter out of the other threads. If you have a solution to a problem pm me and ill put it in this thread credit to you. It can be anything from major issues to small annoyances, if you have a fix ill input it here. If you see an error in something I post go ahead and post it so it can be corrected.

One thing to keep in mind if you're having a problem is that you should not assume its a problem with the ROM you are running. Some things to check if you're having issues after flashing a new ROM:
1. If you cant get your rom to flash or boot up correctly, check to make sure the md5 sum of the rom you downloaded matches that of the rom posted. If not, you need to download it again.
2. Boot into recovery by shutting the phone off and holding the volume down+power buttons. Sure you can flash a rom no problem by booting into recovery other ways, but if you do it this way you can be sure you that the recovery booted correctly.
3. Make sure your phone is NOT plugged into anything. Doing this is almost guaranteed to cause headaches. This is very easy to overlook, especially when transfering zips from your computer to your sd card via usb.
4.Patience...After flashing a new rom, especially if you wiped dalvik and/or have a lot of apps can take some time.
5. Before you panic, reboot. If something isnt working it could just be that you need to reboot your phone. [credit to cHarley04 for suggesting this for connection issues via USB cable]
6. If all that checked out and you're still having problems, and you havent already, wipe the cache and wipe the dalvik cache and reflash the rom. And to take it a step further you can do a full data wipe/reset. I generally recommend wiping cache/dalvik cache, but would say that a full data wipe isnt neccessary unless you run into a problem or the developer tells you to do it before flashing a new/different version.
7. Boot issues after flashing Gapps? If you checked all the above then go back and make sure you downloaded the correct Gapps for this ROM.
8. Im saving this one for last so I can put it in a nice big bold text: READ READ READ A quarter of the posts in the CM7 threads are people asking the same questions over and over again that have already been answered. Another chunk is people answering those questions over and over again (nothing wrong with helping others). Its that kind of clutter that makes those threads so hard to read through to get the information you want. Im not saying dont ask questions, but atleast make an effort to read through the threads to try and see if you can find if the question has already been asked/answered. It gets to a point where a thread has thousands of posts and a newcomer sees that and says to themselves that theres no way they're going to read through all that to find the answer to a minor annoyance issue. And I can almost say I dont blame them. But at the same time, if the problem isnt a big enough deal that you dont want to put in a little work to try to find the answer then it cant be that big of an issue...fair enough? Every time a question gets re-asked it just buries some other piece of information even deeper into those thousands of posts. Ok...enough ranting
My GPS doesn't work (at all)
1. Make a nandroid backup of your current cm7 setup.
2. Download and flash cm6 and the proper gapps.
3. Boot up the phone and get a GPS lock using maps or GPS test.
4. Shut phone off.
5. Boot into recovery.
6. Restore the cm7 backup you made.
Your GPS should now work. Install the GPS test app from the market and run it. You should see your GPS icon flashing in your notification bar. If it is then you just have to wait for a lock. This may or may not take some time. If your icon does not show up at all then you can either try the process again or seek another fix.
Sync Facebook Events/Birthdays to Google Calendar
FROM YOUR INTERNET BROWSER:
1. Install the fdCal app for Facebook by clicking on the Google Calendar Icon under 'Subscribe to your friends' Birthday'.
2. Now in your Google Calendar you will see 'fdCal' under 'Other Calendars', Click it and your Facebook birthdays will appear on your calendar on this page.
FROM YOUR PHONE:
3. Now on your phone, go to the calendar app and click 'Settings>More>Calendars. From there ensure that fdCal Birthdays is 'synced, visible' and press 'ok'. (if you dont have auto sync on you will need to go into 'Settings>Accounts & Sync>Google>Google Calendar 'click to sync')
Your facebook birthdays are now synced to your google calendar! No extra apps needed. The link above also has the option to sync your Facebook Events as well.
EDIT: if you were using an app to sync birthdays (such as ebobirthday) than you will want to do the following:

While this will definitely calibrate the battery meter and is the way you'll usually find in forums for calibrating, I dont personally completely agree with it. Im strongly against letting these li-ion batteries fully drain. It degrades the cells of the battery. Charging the battery causes deposits to form inside the cells that take up space inside the cells. This is what causes these batteries to last for shorter periods of time in between chargings until eventually they just wont hold a charge anymore. The lower you let the battery get before charging the more you excellerate the process. I try not to let my battery below 40% and generally only charge it to 100% before going to work. I try to keep it between 40-80% most of the time with bump charging here and there.
The battery meter will calibrate itself over time with regular use. Sure it takes a bit longer. This is usually the strange battery drain people see when first trying a new rom (along with all the playing around they do checking out all the features) that eventually levels out. Often referred to as the ROM "setting in". To keep things level, I try to fully charge my phone before flashing a new rom. Does it make a difference? I dont know, but my battery drainage has remained steady across every nightly Ive flashed.
So again, Im not saying you're wrong in the battery calibration. Because you're absolutely correct that that will calibrate the battery. I just dont subscribe to doing it that way and believe in just letting the phone do its thing. But thats just my opinion.

That makes pure and COMPLETE sense. Thanks for teaching me that! All the scientific evidence is lying there! I always wondered why i ate through batteries like a kid through candy!
I recently noticed after the latest update excessive battery drain as seen in screenshots posted below. I have tried a factory reset and then unlocked bootloader to root and added greenify to try help save my battery. Does anyone have any tips on what else to try?
Have you tried to figure out what the Miscellaneous drain is? At least on my tablet I don't have that category in battery usage.

Miscellaneous is android figuring out the rest of the battery stats, it's normal for new devices.

If by "new" you mean recently flashed/factory restored, then I'm not sure what to say. Even after flashing a recovery image I've never noticed that category. The only reason why I asked was because I assumed that was what you were referencing as being excessive.
If you were referencing the 24+ hour battery life graph shown in your screenshots, then that seems about right. Unfortunately the tablet has never been known to have stellar battery life unless it's on battery saver 24/7.

Seems about right?! He had 7min 2sec screen on time. If thats "about right" to you... you need to RMA your tablet.
Clearly whatever "Miscellaneous" is, is his issue.

Ok, so I noticed the very same thing when I got my Shield, I haven't rooted (I had on KitKat to restore some backups, then didn't do it again in Lollipop yet). I contacted Nvidia's service via livechat and got this answer. It did some considerable difference, although I still think it's draining a little too fast, but my old tablet had a pretty strong battery so I was just spoiled by it it seems >.<
So here it goes:
Nvidia Shield Callibration: (this takes a while)
You will have to calibrate the battery for just one time and observe the device battery backup for 2-3days to see the changes.
1: Drain your Shield tablet battery by using it normally until it turns off by itself.
2: Power-on your Shield tablet, if it wakes up and if you see some power left, follow step 1.
3: If Shield tablet is now drained to the point it can't wake up, set the device to charge for 7-8 hours.
The device should remain off when you set it for charging here.
4: Unplug the charger after 7-8hours, power on and wait for the battery charge to drop down to 90-95%.
5: Once the device battery drops down to 90-95%, plug in the charger and charge for one complete hour.
6: Unplug the charger once the device is fully charged.
7: Go to Shield settings > Shield power control > Apps> select optimize all option.
8: Go to Shield settings > Shield power control > system>
• Set the brightness to auto.
• Change the sleep option to 2 minutes of inactivity instead of default 10 minutes inactivity.
• Change the processor mode to either optimized or Battery savings.
• Check the WiFi optimization on.
Observe the device performance and report to us if you are still facing issue with the battery backup..
And then they gave me some tips for better battery life in general, I follow them (mostly) and my battery seems to hold on decently:
1: Always use the Shield tablet charger and not the computer USB ports or any other charger as the power specifications vary from the device to device.
2: In case if the charger is missing, use the back port of the desktop computer to charge the device instead of front port.
3: Always remember to exit the application instead of tapping the home button which will continue to run the application in the background.
4: Restart your Shield tablet at least once in a week. This will refresh the device making it work faster and efficient.
5: Connect the charger only when the battery comes down to 15% and unplug the charger only when it reaches 90% or above. This will reduce the number of charge cycles which will make battery last longer.
6: Use a third party app manager like Clean Master and free the memory at-least once a day to keep the device running faster.
To notice if the battery is fully/optimally charged when the device is off, look for the led indicator next to the charging port. It should be green, indicating it is fully/optimally charged
Hello, I use Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and it's less than 2 years old. Phone battery "dies" few times a day, it can be around 60% (like it was today) and then it fastly goes to 0% and turns off. I put it on a charger, reboot it and the battery life goes back to 74% sometimes even 93% (while before turning off and instant drain it was around 60-70%). It wouldn't be so bad if I could do that without a charger, but this happened to me three times only today and it's really frustrating when you actually need the phone.
I always have STAMINA mode on and I always make sure to go to settings and turn off all the apps I don't currently use, also the thing that's draining the battery the most is Android system. I don't have a clue what to do and I couldn't find an answer anywhere online so I'm trying this way. Thank you in advance!
Below are screenshots were taken on the same day, one was taken at 07.50 pm when the battery was at 18% (after it went to 0% I put it on a charger for a bit) and 6 minutes after that I rebooted it and it went to 91%. At 08.20 pm while on the charger, it went to 97% and the data about battery usage was not available. As you can see, android system and screen are using the most battery (in "normal" occasions system is still on top while the screen is usually few percents below the usage of the system).
I do have some tips.
Do clean the cache of the device.
Uninstall any battery saver app.
Use any battery callibration apps when battery is 100% and after callibration uninstall the app.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately it did not solve any problem.
If thats the Case then you have one way to follow.
1- backup all apps and data using es file explorer on the external sd card.
2- factory reset device.
3- set your device again.
If that works then great. But if it dosent then
1- root the device
2- download stock rom for your device.
3- factory reset device and flash stock rom as per their guide.
That will help for sure. But if by chance that also didnt worked. Then i am sorry to say the battery is out of its limits. And there can be other hardware damages too

Does your android phone battery instantly drop down to 10% or less in a span of 2 to 3mins?
I found that it is the batterystats.bin log file which gets corrupt due to intense usage sessions. You can reset that file using any battery calibration app. Its safe and works 100%
Search in google play store for battery calibration apps. They all do the same job.
Procedure:- 1) Plugin your android phone and full charge till 100%
2) Click the button in the app to start calibration.
3) Unplug your phone and let it discharge normally.
4) If it does not charge at all, try calibrating it first and then charging.
If this method works for you drop a comment below.
