Sony Xperia Z1 Compact battery life issues - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I use Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and it's less than 2 years old. Phone battery "dies" few times a day, it can be around 60% (like it was today) and then it fastly goes to 0% and turns off. I put it on a charger, reboot it and the battery life goes back to 74% sometimes even 93% (while before turning off and instant drain it was around 60-70%). It wouldn't be so bad if I could do that without a charger, but this happened to me three times only today and it's really frustrating when you actually need the phone.
I always have STAMINA mode on and I always make sure to go to settings and turn off all the apps I don't currently use, also the thing that's draining the battery the most is Android system. I don't have a clue what to do and I couldn't find an answer anywhere online so I'm trying this way. Thank you in advance!
Below are screenshots were taken on the same day, one was taken at 07.50 pm when the battery was at 18% (after it went to 0% I put it on a charger for a bit) and 6 minutes after that I rebooted it and it went to 91%. At 08.20 pm while on the charger, it went to 97% and the data about battery usage was not available. As you can see, android system and screen are using the most battery (in "normal" occasions system is still on top while the screen is usually few percents below the usage of the system).

I do have some tips.
Do clean the cache of the device.
Uninstall any battery saver app.
Use any battery callibration apps when battery is 100% and after callibration uninstall the app.

Thanks for your reply but unfortunately it did not solve any problem.

If thats the Case then you have one way to follow.
1- backup all apps and data using es file explorer on the external sd card.
2- factory reset device.
3- set your device again.
If that works then great. But if it dosent then
1- root the device
2- download stock rom for your device.
3- factory reset device and flash stock rom as per their guide.
That will help for sure. But if by chance that also didnt worked. Then i am sorry to say the battery is out of its limits. And there can be other hardware damages too

Battery Drain - Standby Mode

I'm on Darkyy's v8.0 ROM and without a SIM card. Since I'm without a SIM card the phones time without signal is 100%. My phones standy by time is also equal to the up time of the phone. Is this normal...? My battery is draining unusually fast. I've checked OSmonitor and I get LOTS of errors, but I'm not sure what causes them.
I found the same with that rom suggest use another rom as it fixed my battery drain .

Not sure about other non battery errors:
As for the Battery problem on v8.0
You can either upgrade to V9.1 and/or try the following which is found in their website
(Search for Darky ROM Calibrate Battery)
Calibrating Battery with Darky's ROM:
1. Use your phone until the phone switches itself off (battery empty)
2. Switch on once more to make sure battery really is 0% (it will then immediately switch off once more)
3. Now, keep switched off (!), plug in charger & leave in charging until 100%
4. When battery is full, switch the phone on, unplug & check if the batter immediately drops 1 or 2 %
5. If battery immediately drops, plug in charger once more (while running phone) & let it charge completely
6. Once charging to 100% is done, keep charger plugged in & Reboot into Recovery Mode
7. in Recovery Mode go to: advanced --> Wipe Battery Stats --> Yes-Wipe Battery Stats
8. When done: Go To --> reboot system now
9. Once system has rebooted, unplug charger
Try Simply Galaxy 2.4.1 with ROM JS5, i can run 1.5 day with moderate use of Wifi, browsing and email
Yeah I've had the same experience after upgrading to 9.x, I tried all the usual recalibration tricks and even bought a new battery. i'll give another rom a shot to see if battery life returns to normal.
I highly recommend Juwe's 1.5.5, fast, stable and great battery life.
Shouldn't this thread be in the Q&A section?

Use the app "Battery Mix" available in the Market too identify which apps/services consume an --unwanted-- x amount of power.

3 day battery life on my D2G???

My Droid 2 Global is currently at 2 day 16 hours of uptime since unplugged, standard battery, moderate usage (some gaming, some phone calls, some syncing, some data connection, regular music listening)... and it still shows 40% of battery life left...
So, how did it all start?
I have followed some of the suggestions from the Battery Life Writeup thread
1. froze most of the bloatware in Titanium Backup (except for the Global apps)
2. set screen birghtness to Auto
3. set the battery profile to Custom
4. wifi and data disabled unless i need it, background data on
5. animation - all off
...
6. finally, i flashed the phone to a local CDMA provider, CDMA mode is set to Home Only, and 3G is off unless I need it.
7. i additionally killed and cleared data of the motorola services via built in android app manager
... but that helped only marginally, as I was getting 1.5 days max under minimal use
Until one day... I charge the phone in the morning, use it heavily throughout the day - music + data + phone calls... and it's dead in 12 hours. (( I actually shut off on me in the evening the same day during the phone call... I kinda got frustrated with this phone, since it wouldn't even last through the day when i needed it ....
... so I plugged it in while it was turned off, it charged fully, i unplugged the phone and turned it off before going to bed, now let the WTF begin :
WTF#1: So, I pick the phone up in the morning and it's still @ 100% after like 10 hours of standby (needless to say it usually loses 30% of battery overnight). I am like ok.... must be a batter meter lag.
WTF#2: I use the phone normally for the entire day - phone calls, music player + scrobbling via data connection, some syncing.. and by the end of the day the battery is @ 90%
WTF#3: I pick up the phone next morning after 1.5 day of use and it shows 80% of battery left At this point i start thinking the battery meter is screwed up on me and it will just shut off while @ 70% or something... but that wasn't meant to be.. I seriously start trying to get it discharged - playing games + wifi + syncing + putting in a sim card + checking mail + browsing... and by the end of the day it's only @60%
WTF#3 So, again next morning i pick it up and it's @ 40% of battery. and I have no clue how the hell this happened. right now its approaching 3 full days (2 days, 18 hours) of heavy - moderate use and the battery still shows 40% left.
Any ideas how this could happen? I will try to reproduce it once it finally discharges by letting the battery die completely and charging it while it's turned off. Anyway... your thoughts?
i got similar usage when i wasnt connected to a network i.e. data and wifi was off. i got a full 3 and a half days with minimal usage, turning wifi on when i needed it. with wifi and data on at all times i get about a day and a half of usage.
Plz let us know the outcome
I'm also struggling with batt. life
Sometimes I have to use three batteries per day
(I have many spare batteries just in case I have heavy usage)
It would be great to have three days of battery life!
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
Not sure how you managed the couple days of battery life, but that 100% after 10+ hrs without using the phone is pretty doable. Once you remove the bloatware that is. I can consistently let the phone sit for 10-12hrs and it will at most lose 10% battery life.
If you use your SMARTphone as it was designed, there is no way to get that batt life. If you use it like an old dinosaur nokia(phone calls and texts only no data) then sure, that is possible.

Hi guys, just stopping by to update that since my original post I went through a couple of charge-discharge cycles, always getting 2-3 days of battery life, depending on my usage.
So, as you see, it's possible to get this kind of battery life if using the phone as smartphone cause well.. that's what's happening to mine
I will add the additional details I omitted in my original post:
------------------------------------------------------------------
1. set your default launcher to LauncherPro
2. follow the steps in the Battery Life Writeup thread if you haven't yet
3. turn off wifi and data unless you are using it
4. clear your battery stats using Calibrate Battery app
5. discharge your phone completely until it dies (if you have a wall charger)
6. charge it back up while turned off, turn it on once done.
7. force stop & clear data for the following services - (proceed at your own risk lol it didn't break my phone but it might break yours )
- Task Manager (freeze it)
- Bluetooth Share / Bluetooth Dun (if you don't use bluetooth)
- com.motorola.photowidget
- Email Engine (if you don't use email app)
- Home (if you use launcherpro)
- Motorola Services
- Social Messaging Service
- TTS Service (if you don't use tts)
- Voice commands (if you don't use voice commands)
Then, theoretically you should have the same battery life as I do.

[Q] Help With Nexus S 4G Battery Problem

I have had the Nexus S 4G since November and i like it but it always only charged to 94%. But recently (last month and to now) I have somehow gotten it to sometimes charge up to 96% or even 98%. Well just 15 mins ago from when i'm posting this, the phone just shut down and it still had like 45% or so left of battery, it wouldnt turn on so i pluges it to my laptop and it says its charging so i turned it on while its charging and its still on 0% battery for the past 15 mins now. I go to school every weekday and i need it each day so i need to fix this as soon as i can.
I have it rooted on the OTA 4.1.1 JellyBean.
What I can remember was it started to slow down and kick me out of kik, opera, text+ and so on so i deleted a N64 emulator that sent me ads in my notifications, along with Orbot, NSTools, Kernel Manager, Rom Manager, and a couple more apps. So it may have to do with one of those being uninstalled. Just someone please help because I have alot of people I talk to that get angry at me when i dont msg them soon and I cant hace it pluged in all the time..

Sounds like you have either a power hungry app, or you rbattery calibration is way out of whack.
Power-Hungry Apps:
Check your battery stats and see how much battery a certain app is using by going into Settings>Battery then check for apps that are using a lot of your CPU and using much of your battery charge.
Battery Calibration:
Litium-Ion batteries like the one found in your Nexus S have a small memory chip inside of them to report battery stats to your phone amog other tasks. This chip can become un-calibrated and not report proper stas causing your phone to think you have no battery when you actually do have some juice left.
As you are rooted, you have many options:
Apps:
- http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ignisoft.battery.calibration&hl=en
- http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.jonrichards.batterycalibrator.ui&hl=en
- http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.liteup.calibratebattery.free&hl=en
Recovery:
This depends on your recovery, I will assume you use ClockworkMod or vanilla recovery. If so, you can us this detailed guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1616598
Good luck! If you need anymore info, don't hesitate to ask and please don't forget to click the "Thanks" button if I helped you

1.To overcome battery drain you can also use app Greenify from Google Play, which allows you to hibernate (in time) such of your apps. But, be carefull, not all apps work properly when hibernated (sms, calender etc). You have to try.
2. Also, you can check how it looks with so called "wakelocks" (ratio between awake and real screen on in your phone) with BetterBatteryStats (also from Play). It is a little bit complicated app, but when you understand, its can help a lot.

[Q] Problem whit airplane mode

Hi, I just bought a Mi4, and i'm having problems with the battery on airplane mode, battery goes down about 12-15 % in 8 hours in airplane mode, wich seems too much.
-I've done a clean install of many roms, now i have stock 5.1.23
-I've killed second plane proccesses using greenefy, halt apps with Titanium (mi frameworks)
-I've done a clean fastboot install, without the sim card, with the same battery consuption.
-After checking WakeLockDetector (WLD), it says there is no second plane app consuming battery. Also checked it using Trickster MOD, confirming the phone is in Deepsleep, but anyway the battery is consuming the same.
-I've done a battery calibration with Battery Calibrator.
My phone is black, 16 GB, i've read other users with the same problem, some people say it could be due to the proximity sensor.
Anyone could help? Any idea or way to know what is consuming the battery and how to stop it?
Thanks in advance.
It is a mi4 bug.
Install greenify to increase battery life. This software will close unnecrssary running apps in lock mode.

[Q] Weird Battery Drain + Indicator Problem

I'm not sure if it's more appropriate to post here
or on the custom ROM forum itself, but here's my battery issue:
Issue: Abnormally fast battery drain. My battery would
be fully charged, and almost immediately start draining until
it'd show 1% within 2 hrs. Screen would be off mostly (normal
use).
Been on a custom ROM since January 2017 (crDroid) and have had no problems with it since,
except 3 days ago, when the problem first appeared.
Things that are ON: LTE data (or Wi-fi), Auto apps update on
Google Play Store (never been problematic before), Location,
Things that are OFF: Bluetooth, ScreenCast, Caffeine
When I check Battery in Settings, the numbers don't add up.
I'd have battery indicator at 70% for example, but Screen,
Android System, all other apps would add up to only 7%. So
that's a whopping 23% unaccounted for.
But here's the weird thing: it drains fast until 1%, then at 1%,
the phone is supposed to initiate automatic shutdown like it has before.
When this issue cropped up, the phone keeps going for about 6 hours
or so before shutdown is started. Checking Kernel Adiutor occasionally,
I'd see a much slower decrease in voltage which probably reflects
more accurately the power drawdown situation.
Things I've done:
-clear cache (both through File Explorer and TWRP Recovery)
-clear batterystats.bin
-calibrate battery after full charge/discharge (via Root Essentials,
which basically does the same thing as manually deleting batterystat.bin,
if I'm not mistaken)
-Resetting App Preferences via Setting/Battery
None of the above has worked. Any idea what might be wrong?
My device is a Zuk Z1, with a 4100mAh battery. It usually lasts me more
than a day on normal use, but as the attached pic shows, it's at 96%
yet without having used any apps yet, has only 2 hrs of juice left.
I've tried reflashing my ROM, wiping everything including formatting data
yet nothing has worked.
I'm a light user, as I don't play games or watch videos on my phone.
Neither do I use graphics-intensive apps. I haven't used processor-intensive apps
that require constant GPS (like Google Maps, Waze) since then.

Not yet. Am going to try an AOSP-based ROM later.
I've been deleting apps piecemeal, but have faile to pinpoint the culprit.
I have almost come to the conclusion that it's the ROM that's problematic.
But if that were the case, why haven't I had the same problem since
when I first flashed this custom ROM months ago;
and why is the problem reappearing when that same ROM is re-flashed now?
OK, I've flashed 3 other ROMs: Citrus-CAF, NucleaROM and stock, and the problem persists.
By doing the above, I've crossed out the possibility of it being the ROM. Neither is it the battery
itself, because it would've shut down by itself at 1%, yet at 1% I can last 6 or 7 hours of light use.
Anyone out there have any idea?
If you get the same results, the battery is trashed. Is it aftermarket?

The battery? No, it's the factory original.
It would not be unusual for a battery to fail in a month or two. I've had that happen to a couple laptops where I work.

That would be pretty unusual for reputable companies. If ever it did happen in my case, perhaps it's a lemon batch.
Sadly, I bought this without warranty.
Not really, happens all the time in laptop world. Even with oem batteries.
