Doesnt check e-mails - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Although all my settings for checking e-mails are set for 15 minutes my TF300 doesnt check any until I press power button. None of my previous tablets nor my Galaxy Note behave like this. Do I need another setting here?

Asus settings -> Battery saving -> Disconnect network during sleep ?

My 300 rarely checks email. Constantly get the error message "can't open connection to server". Hugely annoying

[Q] No screenshots in Google PLAY either TEGRAZONE

Hi, to all you guys ! I've recently bought an Asus Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700), and am very happy with it ! Except the little fact that It doesn't show any SCREENSHOTS in Google Play, nor in Tegra Zone ... I can use google play, download apps games ... bt it just says no screenshots and after I press try again still fails !
Anyone having the same problem ? Maybe knows how to solve it ?
PS. Using it through my Home wifi 300mbps router ... and the internet speed is quite nice ...
Please help ! Thank you !

I don't know if this will help with google play or tegra zone, but try opening the stock browser, hit the drop down tab on upper right and choose settings then bandwidth management and make sure load images is checked. Worth a shot as, but I think that only affects the browser.

If you mean that you can't click on screenshots in the Play store (to enlarge them) - then yes, it seems to b a bug - sometimes it works, but most times you just get a blank screen when clicking on any of the screenshots.

Sounds like a firewall is blocking ''media server''. At least, that's what causes this problem for me, when I have the media server blocked with avast, full screenshots in play, videos in YouTube app, thumbnails in TED, all stop displaying
No I dont have any kind of screenshots in Google Play and Tegrazone ... NONE, I checked the browser bandwidth settings (is set to display images).
The problem is more related to the one decribed by scott.m, I dont get any kind of screenshots ... No thumbnails in youtube app as well ! I'm using a wifi acces point through my TP-LINK router (so no AVP blocking problems I quess), also have the notebook connected to wifi - no problems, but the tablet is experiencing some weird difficulties loading screenshots....
Also tried reinstalling Google play app, clearing cache ... none seems to solve the problem.
All hope on you guys !? Any ideas ?

And how did you manage to solve this problem ? What do you mean the firewall is blocking the "media server" ?
I have a router so get direct wifi internet ... not through USB hub+PC ....

Definitely not the issue I'm talking about - in my case - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't (even on the same exact image). I've read at least one other report of this as well...
Thanks for the info though!

Got it cleared ... it seems to depend after all on my wifi connection ... When it's not overcrowded by other devices that use the net is works ok ... So If anyone has the same problem as me, know that it might be your WIFI
In order to get through the routers to the internet, go into your WiFi settings and select the connection you created. On the Infinity, I long pressed it and up popped a screen to either "Forget" or "Modify". Select "Modify", and you'll see "Advanced Settings".
I had to set up my TF700T to connect to my router with a Static IP address. So I chose one from within the range I setup on the routers. Here's basically what mine looks like now.
Proxy Settings = None
IP Settings 192.168.1.102 (the static IP address I want the device to tell the router I'm connecting to rather than the other way around)
Gateway is the IP address of your router (i.e., 192.168.1.1 by example)
Network Prefix length = 24
DNS 1 (use same as your router address above, in this case 192.168.1.1 by example)
DNS 2 used 8.8.8.8
And it all worked !!! It now loads all the pictures and stuff !! Also tested on the Iphone 4 and 4s ... which didnt work as well NOW EVERYTHING IS OK !
Hope this helps.

[Q] The Trio Stealth Pro 7 - Wifi Problems

Hey, I resently brought an new android tablet "The Trio Stealth Pro 7 " which has the ice cream sandwich I tried to connect the Wifi.
No errors it keeps connecting on & off it will never stay connected..any idea how would I go about fixing this problem? thanks, I hope I can get some answers on this, I really wanna get online with this thing,.Oh and my tablet is already rooted thanks again!
Help please?
You said it's new, did they make 'em rooted, or did you root it?
-- Sent from my TouchPad using Communities
Well, I rooted it yeah, well it was already rooted I just did it again for the "superuser" app since it worked really well with my other tablets, and I've noticed everytime I try to browse the web that's when the connection goes down, when I'm not using the connection would stay a bit longer but it never stays connected.
Have you checked if System Settings -> Wi-Fi -> [menu key] -> Advanced -> Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to Always?

Yeah it's already set to that.
Have you tried with another ROM? If you have the same problem with other ROMs, then it's probably a hardware problem.
Was it new or used? Maybe this is the reason they sold it.
-- Sent from my TouchPad using Communities
How do I use another ROM and what would you recommend? I doubt it's a hardware problem and yes, the tablet I have is brand new, it was never used.
I have no idea about your device or compatible ROMs.
I would do 1 more test. Spend some time in another WiFi area, or using another router. If the problems persist, get it replaced. If you try flashing ROMs to fix it, and it doesn't work, you risk being stuck with a defective device due to violating the warranty.
Also, check with others who have the same device if they've had the same problem.
-- Sent from my TouchPad using Communities
I have the same tablet and really haven't had that many wifi problems but it does keep rebooting all the time.
You can try running a script that will add google play and some other improvements to see if it helps.
I used one called newtech25_for_ics4.0.3.zip
Sorry, don't have a link
I would recommend reading this entire thread before trying to flash this tablet:

Purchased two of these for my boys. One works on our wifi without any problems and the other will connect but as soon as you try to download an app or do anything on the internet with it that will put any strain on the wif the connection signal strength displaed lowers and then it completely drops and loses connection to the router. It will be going back to the store.

TF300T Tethering Hell: USB, WiFi, Take your pick...

Hey guys If I am in the wrong place, please let me know. I got my TF300T just a little while ago and am now trying to use it as a my main computer. That requires me to able to connect to the net on it. It works just fine when I am connected to a regular WiFi network. However, I have no Internet connection at home except for my Sprint Motorola Photon Q, which I had been using tethered over USB to my PC to get the PC online. That worked fine. But this past month, I lost my job and needed to sell the PC, so all I have left is the TF300T. I was sure it'd work fine since I got BT tethering to work fine in the past with that phone. However, I was just experimenting at that point. Now, I see it's a little more ... complicated:
I set my Photon Q to act as a WiFi hotspot using PDANet+ a.k.a. FoxFi. Creating a WiFi hotspot, I can see it on the TF300T. Whether I enter the right PSK2 key or don't use encryption at all, connecting is impossible. It will "Authenticate...." after a minute or so and then try to get an IP via DHCP. Then it will "work" a long time and then drop the connection and try again. This is with the phone an inch away. I found it had a lot of trouble just getting an IP, so I tried setting it up with a static IP. I found out that PDAnet+ seems to default to 192.168.43.111 and the gateway is presumably 192.168.43.1. I tried some other things like .100 without luck. It WILL connect but the WiFi strength indicator in the bar stays gray. It shows up and down arrows as though there's activity, and Excellent strength, but won't actually work in any apps, incl. the default Android browser. Also tried pinging the host phone using the terminal only to get Destination Host Unreachable errors.
I then tried Bluetooth tethering. It will connect and works at a decent rate. But, the only programs that work are web browsers! IM clients, Skype, Google Play, Maps, Gmail, nothing else can connect. Android is convinced I am not online at all, yet I can browse web pages at full speed, which I am doing right now. IIRC PdaNet uses some bizarro proxy setup but they tell you on their site to "configure the proxy settings" and give you none of the details like IP or port! How useful. So, this does me little good. It's horribly crippled.
I tried numerous other WiFi tether apps, most of which hard crash the Photon Q so it reboots entirely the moment it turns on the hotspot. Barnacle and one of the WiFi tether apps (1-click? I've tried so many I can barely remember...) will launch, I can see it on the TF300T, but when I try to connect it says "ANDROIDTETHER or whatever the SSID is, Saved". No matter how many times you choose Connect or Forget, then Connect again, nothing. Gets stuck at "Saved."
I'd try connecting the phone via USB via the TF300T dock but I have searched heavily and cannot find any way to do it. Do I have any options at all?
Thank you for any info.
Hi
I'm tethering Internet from my SGS 1 with 4.2.2 rom with no problem at all. I think you have problem with wifi settings.
Try to set both phone and tab wifi to correct region. If you have phone set to USA and tab to Europe it won't work. You'll find it under Wireless-advanced if you have customised roms, for stock I don't know how to set it. Haven't have stock roms for ages.
About proxy, basic proxy settings in Android works only for browser, so you will need something like proxydroid on your client. I'm using it and for me it is working. For settings, check your phone settings-mobile networks-access points and copy them from there, or call your ISP and ask them for settings.
Hope this helps.
WiFi tether for root users. Is the best thing ever. If you aren't rooted. Root your phone. Also, is there a cm ROM available for your phone? If so, switch. Then use it's default tethering. Your phone is definitely the culprit here.

Unfortunately no CM ROM exists for that phone. It is rooted. I tried wifi tether for root-- played with all the settings.... it will turn on and the SSID shows up on the TF300T .. but if you try to connect it just says "Saved." Even though it also says Signal quality is "Excellent"...
I don't get it at all.

Try different profiles. I tried my EVO LTE last night for 2 hrs. Tried all generic settings. I ended up switching it to sg3 profile same chipset as mine. Worked fine after that.

Great suggestions guys! I seem to be making some progress. I can now "connect" and get an IP, but the "wifi signal" bar thingy in the lower-right stays gray, not blue like it usually is when on working WiFi, and apps still cannot get to the net, which I assume is what the gray means (network connection but no internet connection). I will have to go down the list and try every possible configuation, I suppose. Yikes! I'll keep at it...
Thank you!

This may sound dumb, but how do I do that? I guess I need to set it globally in Android and not per-app because most apps don't let you set one. Thanks!

I noticed this option was missing on my stock firmware a few weeks back when wanting to transfer a large file from my phone to the tablet. If I remember right it came out on the Prime during one of it's early updates but was flawed in function. I figured they removed it. I'd check again but don't have my tablet currently.
On CROMI X 4.5 I have the WiFi direct option and can enable it. Working okay I think

Here is a screenshot of the page I get once I click on settings, highlighting wifi and clicking on the 3 dots and clicking on WIFI Direct. There is a name "Android_7c55" but I do not know what the name is for. Is it the name of that has been assigned to the Asus and being broadcast? If you look at the top of the page you will see that WIFI is lite up and WIFI Direct is dark.

Mines the same larto ... Think the grayed out part is how android just marks where you are. Is blacked out because that's the page your already on. WiFi is white because you came from that page so you can click to go back.

It's greyed out under the additional options (Three dots) if WiFi is off.
It is greyed out in "Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi Direct" because that's the visual navigational indicator. It tells you where you are (Grey) and what the parent directory is (White).
Basic mandatory design trick, it's meant to make things clearer for the user. It's the same as D:\mystuff\documents\pictures\9gag (or the icon method Vista and upwards uses) in the URL bar in Windows Explorer, or websites with Home > About > Contact below the buttons. Or even right here on XDA: [Home] > Asus Transformer TF700 > Transformer TF700 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > WiFi Direct greyed out > Reply to Thread.
It's purely navigational. Clicking on 'Wi-Fi' in it will take you back to the Wi-Fi page.
Android_[string] is the name the device has. On the top right it says "Rename Device". If you click it, the exact same name comes up. So obviously, it's the device name you give it. (The same way you do with Bluetooth)
Until you blast another WiFi direct device at it, it'll stick with searching. I turned on WiFi Direct on my SGS3, and voila, it pops up under Peer Devices. Then just click on the device. It works fine.

Cool tip to configure your router with Galaxy S7!

Apparently on Galaxy S7, when you to go Wi-Fi Settings and select connected router, it has a field with a link saying, "Go to webpage".
When you click on it, it opens your router settings.
I think it makes it much easier to configure my Wi-Fi router in the future.
I think this has been on many Samsung (maybe all Android) devices in the past.

Select the network you're connected to
Select the link under "Go to webpage" in the connection info dialog that appears
Router EWS opens.
Or open your browser and type in your routers IP address.

Non, your are connected normal, it's a shortcut to acces your router's settings in case you need to change something.
It's always recommended you change your routers settings with a hard wired connection.
