Yeh i like the htc i've had a 'Hero' for 2 years and i like the way it works, but the 600mhz processer was a bit small on the 'C' but you cud expand the memory. Although i have got around that with the sony i've opened a 'box' account uploaded my music and installed 'cloud around' which streams ur music to your phone brilliantly thought out if i say so myself as i have also read that the sony comes with 50gb of box space once you install the app on ur sony fingers crossed cheers anyway guys phone comes on wednesday i will let you know what i think
Sounds promising.

I thnik you can have better user experience on the Desire C, but the caracteritics are lower than the Xperia U.
Xperia U (Maybe)
Xperia U is much better in all specs except for one thing:
Xperia U doesn't have a microSD card slot, so you'll have to deal with either the 4GB or 8GB versions only. This is a very important deal for me since I use to carry a lot of music and videos on my phone so if I was you I'd search for another Xperia U level option with microSD card slot available.

I have looked at other options aswell the other option to use is on the go 'otg' for short on the experia u which allows you to connect a hard drive and play what you want on it or a small flash drive simples

I have heard on the E4GT that you can get a adapter that alows to to connect usb devices into your phone including a flash drive. Does anyone know if that would work on our phones and what its called? +1 for any help. Thanks

I could be wrong, but this is what I've read:
I don't think anyone's tried it yet. You could be the first to try it and report back!
I bought an OTG cable (this is the adapter you'll need, it's a pretty easy google search) for my HTC Jetstream, but that's still running HC 3.1, and doesn't support this feature yet. Hence, the cable has wound up in an unknown box/drawer/under my bed. If I can find it, I'll test this out with the One X and give'er a shot.

Yeah, that really pisses me off. Everyone does it though. It's the same on the HP Touchpad. 32GB my a**, only 25 is usable. On the One X actually, even 12GB is misleading. 2 of that is dedicated to apps, bringing your "sdcard" down to 10. (9.93 to be more precise.)

It doesnt work. Tried it last week when i got the phone with 3 different usb keys and even a USB 360gig drive on a powered hub A custom rom will be needed.
The international One X just got a custom kernel with USB OTG enabled. Who knows when they'll release the source code for the S4 1X kernel so we can get the same though.

I have rooted mine and done just about everything listed on the internet and I'm unable to get all the data as well as the apps over to the microSD slot.
I have found apps2sd type programs move everything but the Data and most my games are 200-700mb
I have even emailed Samsung over how upset I am at what they have done/Google have done to this device ( and just about every other one with ics/jelly Bean )
So Im selling mine today and I have traded up to a Playbook 64gb for £129 Brand new LOL....
And I wonder why I'm starting to hate Android OS. But at least my Xperia Play can use most my paid for Android Apps.

Do you really need that much space for games and data? And btw its not just ics and JB that prevents that!! I'm sure the reasoning no one has figured a2sd script for this device is because we have more than one gig ram. But hey if you want to go with the Playbook no one is stopping you. But I promise you didn't trade up. Your taking a loss. Have fun with it though. Heck one day you might trade "up" to a diepad.. good luck. I'm happy with my rooted tab2 running cm9/10 beautifully!!!

Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.
I still don't understand why the option in the standard form is not here, the GT-I9100 running 4.0.4 has it. Button should be just to the right of the clear data for a selected app in the Applications manager. Only reason I can think for this variation is that with the GT-I9100 you have to shutdown (remove the battery) to remove the Ext SD card while with the GT-P3113 you can remove without a shutdown. But the GT-I9100 still allows unmounting the ExtSD card so the physical variation is almost moot.
Wether or not it is a partition or a Samsung thing, I agree. It is ridicules. Some have argued that it is nothing more than a way to make more money by forcing the consumer to buy a tab with larger storage. I use directory bind and it is a good substitution but I would love a native option.
What is directory bind?

It is an app that links folders on ext to internal sd. You can store the data on the external and make the tablet think it is in the internal. Works great.

Can you guys help me? I think my Walkman Z's broken. I went into the running applications menu and checked how much RAM is being used. The Z's supposed to have 1GB of RAM. It showed up as 97MB used and 247MB free. This doesn't add up to 1GB and it's worrying me, I know that the system uses some RAM but 700MB? That doesn't seem right.
Thanks!
I have no idea if something is wrong with your phone.
But.. you can always try to do a factory reset. It´s a good start and then check if there is an update to your phone.
Dont forget to back up your stuff.

I think one of the modules is in fact broken. When using this app it only detects 512MB of RAM. I tested it on my Galaxy Tab and it shows 1GB so the app seems to be accurate.

But ohhoho a phone isnt a PC it doesn't have a bios that would recognise the ram first of all or that its even gone. All the parts on the phone work in harmoney and when something internal breaks the whole phone does. And the ram is built into the motherboard so that would mean you have a broke motherboard. Do you really think the phone will function then? Please try to use a little sense lol.

I'm actually using some sense. Ram chips do go bad. If there's disk 512mb chips n one went bad then he wouldn't have 1gb ram. They go bad for many different reasons thus not affecting the motherboard. The only problem is you can't swap out ram like you can with a PC.
You say a cell phone ain't a PC but android is a form of Linux. Linux doesn't need a bios to work. Allot of devices out there run a form of Linux without a bios. Wi-Fi routers, cable boxes, ps3, blu-ray players, Nintendo Wii , etc etc.......
I've had devices where the ram has gone bad n they still worked. Just not at a 100%. I'm speaking for experience n knowledge. I'm a developer for android. I work with the ROM n kernel source code. All the devices I have worked on I haven't seen no fail safe in the android source code that will prevent the phone from booting. I have seen the code that loops at the ram n reports the ram found.

I'm going to the Sony Store today, gonna see what they have to say about this.
They told me that they've repaired it, I bet they didn't do anything
Hey
Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong place!
I'm seriously looking at the LG G2 as my next phone but keep coming back to the fact I'd be getting the 16gb version and the lack of SD support.
Just wanna get opinions on how easy or impractical things like cloud storage would be.
I'll have access to 4g network when I am out at work, WiFi at home and then whatever is available when out and about.
Got the standard 15gb allowance on Google drive and something like 28gb on drop box, neither of which are currently touched an awful lot.
Data plan will for either 10 or 20gb depending which I go for
First up, how I KNOW I currently use phone (nexus 4 got destroyed so currently sans-mobile)
.snap happy with the photos
.bit of music but not masses of it
.usual assortment of daily apps
.few games often small flash type thing, but sometimes big files
.various kindle books/PDFs etc
How I plan to use it going forward
.streaming music
.putting more music on the device than I would now
.using that camera more
.downloading movies over 4g (faster than my home BB)for viewing on big screen later
.using camcorder more (not some thing I do a lot historically)
.access to movies/TV shows when its quiet at work
Now, the 16gb nexus 4 did me alright but I'm thinking, higher res camera and shooting 1080p/60frames video, downloaded movies etc might shift the landscape a bit
Keeps making me think I'll just get a galaxy S4 for the micro SD but I do think the camera on the g2 is great and I like flashy new processors a lot.
So do you guys think the 16gb internal mixed with cloud services would be alright and effortless enough or just take the hit in CPU/GPU stats and camera and go with the galaxy s4 and a 64gb micro sd
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I'm probably not going to be any help but I currently do all that with my Note 2 and everything works great. I don't know what the stats of the G2 are but I stream all my music and movies from Dropbox. (I have 54gb) I use box for all my pictures and I use drive for all my ebooks/pdfs. Never had any issues with cpu/gpu. Movies get blurry once in a while but that's an issue with my wifi or LTE.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Its just the internal storage I'm questioning.
I've only even used dropbox and the like for very light things, bit never used them day to day or to compensate for a small capacity device so I don't know how well that system works in real world terms.
Like I say, 16gb was fine on the nexus 4, but then with that device I wasn't using 4g to download full movies and such, nor was its video footage as rich.
If its a chore I'll just get the s4 and big micro SD and forget about the beefed up specs on the g2, but if the common opinion is that the cloud system thing works real well I'll stop worrying about the limited internal memory and go order one (the g2)

If you rely heavily on the cloud to store most of your content then 16gbs is really a nice amount of space for stuff. I have around 50 apps (that includes a few games) and still have roughly 5gbs left.

And you don't find it a pain in the ass shuffling things on and off of cloud storage?
Anyone know if there is an app that allows me to see all my cloud photos in one place? Like everything on internal storage, Google drive , drop box, skydrive etc from one app?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Hi there, hold tight, i have a solution for you. I've got myself an LG G2 as well, and was first quite sad about the lack of micro sd slot. The mobile connectivity around here is not as good, so cloud storage is not a good idea.
Till i found this: http://www.meenova.com/st/p/m3r.html
It's a tiny micro sd reader, which allow you to expand your phone with any micro sd or micro sdxc up to 64 gb.
There's a short YouTube video showing how it works on G2. Basically it's recognized instantly as an external storage. You can plug it in whenever you need the app or music or whatever else stored in it.

So you guessed it right from the title, my Xperia L doesn't have network connectivity or a very weak one thanks to an idiot local mechanic who f*cked it up trying to fix lose USB port. Now I am not even getting deals for this phone as no other mechanic is able to fix this thing.
So I want to know some good uses I can make out of this phone other than my kernel development!
Using it to play songs through AUX cable is one use I found but would like to know what you guys think.

So WiFi still works? , or is it both 3G & WiFi? If the WiFi still works and you have a Chromecast, use it as a remote for Youtube/Netflix/HBOGO playback on Chromecast.
Wait for Flipkart Exchange offer and Exchange it.

I think you went to a Butcher rather than a mechanic!
Anyway, it's a long shot, but have you tried dismantling the phone yourself? what may have happened is that the antenna might have come loose i.e the contact to the cable or the cable itself. if you can stablise it or repair the contact, it may give you full connectivity again!
