[TUT] Remove Google Play! **OldMarket app not required** *ROOT needed!* - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey XDA world!
Do you also want to get rid of that Google Play app? Do you want the old market back? Well... I just found a way to do this without using OldMarket!
This method also needs root, but it's working for my Galaxy Mini with stock ROM and Android 2.3.5.
OldMarket didn't work for me. And this method did! Read the steps below.
Before doing anything you must remove the market updates from manage applications tab (settings) and disable the internet completely (Wifi and data connection) after you have downloaded the required apps.
You know what I mean.
Get AndroZip from the Market. You will need it for the zip file with The old Android Market apk I attached with this post.
Get NoBloat Free from the market and fire it up.
Open the 'remove apps' tab and search for "com.android.vending.updater''. AKA AndroidUpdater.apk.
Disable it or remove it with a backup. Your phone will shut down. Wait around 10 seconds and boot it up.
After your phone is rebooted, fire up AndroZip and unzip the .zip file you can download from below.
Install the Old Market apk and you are done! See how it doesn't update itself when you reconnect to the internet! Have market fun!

Worked perfectly for me on my Galaxy Note N7000 under GB XXLA4
The app I had to uninstall was "Market Updater" - I used Titanium Backup to uninstall
I left 'Market Feedback' in place
Had to uninstall updates from "Google Play" as described.
The background process spawned by Google Play has now disappeared (as expected) and a second instance of Google Maps service has also disappeared. Maybe the new Play keeps asking where I am (in the background)... Not nice, Google...
Thanks OP

Worked on my SD-card-bootable Nook Color with CyanogenMod 7, too Thanks again

how to fix market links?

i somehow lost all my app links in the market, i have about 130 apps installed and would like to have the possibility again to update them.
is there any way to get my app links back in the market?
Titanium Backup
already tried Titanum Backup but it says that there are no recoverable links or something like that....
any other methods other than reinstalling all the apps?
Lol, if you don't want to reïnstall all the apps, how would youvlike it?
Only way is backing up your app + data to restore with links
i have them all backed up with titanium but reinstalling them with TB doesnt fix the market problem...
In titanium delete the data for the market and install one app on the market and uninstall it
well i had to reinstall all the apps for them to be visible again... i hope that doesnt happen again.
now i have an other problem, whenever i move a app to the SD card it also disappears from the market.
any way to display them if they are on the SD card?
I´m with the same problem. After installing CM7 last build I receive the new Android Market (2.2.11) and all my downloaded links gone from the market.
When I look for an already installed application its appear as not installed and then I have to download and install it again to its appear in market downloaded list.
Any way to fix that?

i could not find a other solution, in titanium backup/restore you can long hold on the apps and then go directly to the market to download them, that made it a bit less painful to install them again

Yeah I find another similar stupied solution: QuikMarketLinks, this app will list all your installed applications and link to their market page. I downloaded again 60 programs.
If you install AppBrain application you'll be able to reinstall all your applications in one shot (provided that you had already synchronized your phone with the site) as the list is saved on the site. I'm not sure it will reinstall your market links yet but this isn't a big problem as AppBrain - like the official market - shows when there are updates .
I've also noticed that the applications that I've got on my SD card are displayed as non-installed in the market whereas they are displayed as installed in AppBrain app.
The bonus of the application is that you can browse the Appbrain site on your PC, select the applications that you want to install and when you synchronize your phone it will install these applications.
Really a great app!
You might want to try this as it worked for me.
I installed several apps manually by running the apk and selecting install. These apps didnt appear in market as installed, and presumably werent being checked for updates.
I went into settings->Applications->Manage Applications->All->Market->Force Stop & Clear Data
Launched Market again and after re-accepting the terms, all the apps that I had manually installed now appear in my list of installed apps.

I have tried this out - worked for me in under 10 seconds on HD2 running CoreDroid. I had over 65 'misssing' apps

well i tried the market fix and it did nothing...
also as soon as i move a app 2 SD i no longer have it in the market:/
someone has his apps on the SD and is still able to see them in the market?

[APP][Update] How to update app system in Rom MiuiXt_Final_V2?

Hi everybody!
I have been flash my phone with Rom MiuiXt_Final_V2 in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085683 . It is a great ROM, so beautiful and fast but i have a problem with it. I can't update my apps in the phone (Example: Facebook, Google Maps...)
I try anyway such as via cable, market but result is zero! I have used Titanum to uninstall or used Root explorer to delete that app in /system/app... after that i install the newest version but i still say: "not install" >"<
What should i do? Please help me!
Regard!
in the development thread for the rom (the link you posted), it explains how to update google maps, (can't remember what page..but theres a step by step instruction). Involves using titanuim backup and a 3rd party google map fix. i think this is quite important because it gives you all the new map features.
You can try this for maps & then see if it will update via Market.
Thanks for your help. I will try!

[Guide] How to install any app from the market that is not available in your country

Tired from using different market unlocker or enabler apps that are not responding well and not downloading the apps that are not available in your country..
Are you fed-up from searching for the apk file of that app and can't find it..
Now you can follow these steps and I can assure you that most of market apps will be available in your country for installation (or buying --> need test).. "Some of them still can't be accessed by this guide.!!"
This guide was tested on Motorola Xoom and it went perfect..
So here we go (No need for any third party program ):
1) Go to your ordinary android internet browser that comes with your android device.
2) In google search, go to android market.

3) If it asks by which app you will open the market website, choose "Browser".

4) Now you are in android market website.

5) Search for the app that is not available in your country; here is 'drive mount' app as an example.

6) If it asks by which app you will open the page, choose "Browser".

7) Now tap on the app that you are searching for (don't tap on install button); here is 'drive mount' app as an example.

8) If it asks by which app you will open the app, choose "Market".

9) As you can see, the install button is active..

10) Set back till installation finish
GIVE IT A TRY NOW
tried on my SGS2(2.3.5) and the market version 3.4.4.
it worked only once, opening an app link with the market app but it says I'm not allow to install this app so exit from the market app and opened the link with the default browser instead, then hit INSTALL and logged in and hit back key, choose the market app, finally started downloading.
this procedure didn't work for the next time. maybe I need to be logged out before trying this.
thanks anyway for showing me the way around.
Thanks for nice tips,
it easy than update MNC and MCC code in pros
oky
I`m using Orbot and it`s great
with the market enabler I can be where ever I want and it solve the problem for me in syria
i tried this tip with my HTC Sensation, market version 3.4.4, app : Pandora
but it's not work !
thank you anyway
Worked only once galaxy ace, market v. 3.4.4 thanx anyway
why not try Market Unlocker? just one click to let you install these apps:
http://support.evanhe.com/2012/03/08/introduction-to-market-unlocker-2/
tried with both market enabler and market unlocker and no joy. even this workaround doesn't seem to work which sucks.
anyone know any other way round this.
using a htc hero with one of the MIUI roms
try apk downloader which is chrome extension. this is the ultimate solution for me.

[Q] apk from android market

hello i downloaded some free apps from the market with a friends rooted phone and backed them up using systemapp remover. i then mailed the apks to my mail address and downloaded them on my tab (which does not have access to the market), i then tried to install them everything looked alright but then i got the message: application not installed and that was for all three free apps from the market. do i have somehow manipulate them before i can install them? thanks for any tips
Maybe those free apps are not compatible with the tab's kernel?
You already said that you backed up those apps from a phone. Try getting a market app and then download them, they'll work.
Use gapps for gingerbread from the development section, and apply them using recovery.

Your apps might not be compatible with your Tab's Kernel.
I would suggest you to install Vending.apk (PlayStore app) first on your tab with the help of root manager and then see if it works or not or search the apps in tab section (PlayStore), follow the old steps and then see if it works.
Good luck!
Try installing the latest version of gapps
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA
Is the phone you are installing these apps to rooted itself? I've had problems with USENET APK downloads in the past, but after rooting just about everything works. Not sure why though.
Out of curiosity, why not download the free apps directly yourself from the market instead of attemting a direct install?
many thanks to all for the tips. will try them in a few hours when its more quite at work.
the reason i can not install it from the market is that my device is not up to the specifications, its one of those hp zeen thingys, not a great tab at all but nice enough to play around with a bit. however what i will try is to install google play as it might work (the new market) but i doubt it, it had the old vending market on it but i removed since it was not working.
what i did also is that i moved those free market apps with root explorer to the tabs memory and try install it from there but it didn't work.
is it maybe because my device is not 'strong' enough for those apps? its just normal bus and train information apps....
and yes the tab is rooted

[Q] Titanium, Detach from market, not stick

Sprint gs5, CM-root, TWRP, SDfix...
I have an app which I do not want updates to...
The developer is making changes to the app to fix issues with other brands/models...
The current version works well on mine and I don't want it to update to a version which might break it for my brand/model...
In the playstore I disabled auto-update, but it still shows up in the manual and group update list...
I went into titanium (pro) and detached it from the market and it showed 'attach to market (forced)'
I checked playstore and it is off my app list...
Several minutes later it re-appeared in playstore and titanium went back to 'detach from market'
So the detach function is not sticking...
Any Ideas?

Its been an issue with Titaniium before and appears as it does on your device. Try this:
1) get the Apk you wanna detach (ex using TitaniumBackup) into location you can easily get to (ex. SD card)
2) install ZipSigner from play store
3) re-sign the extracted Apk using ZipSigner and test key
4) uninstall the original app and install the re-signed Apk you made
5) profit
Hi, I realise this is an old post but it's something I've been trying to do for a while too. I've finally accomplished it successfully so I thought I'd share it on in some of the topics.
It works by changing the apk signature so the app typically becomes 'different' to the one on the Google Play Store and therefore doesn't appear in your Google Play Store list. But by doing this, you won't be able to update the app from Play Store.
How to:
Need Root.
First do a TB backup of current apk just to keep it.
With a file explorer, go to root\data\app and copy the app apk that you want to change and paste it somewhere on SD card.
Now uninstall the app
Download and install: ZipSigner by Ken Ellinwood from Play Store.
Open ZipSigner, choose input file and navigate to earlier copied apk
I used key/mode: auto-testkey
Sign the file
The new signed apk will be put in the same directory the original file was.
Now install that signed apk and your're done. Check market.
Worked for me - hope it works for you!
