4.0.4 Update - How long to boot? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've successfully updated to 4.0.4 but now the splash screen seems to be going on FOREVER....is this normal? It's been less than 15 mins so far....if it goes on longer, I may have to reboot and see what happens....Any thoughts?

Ok, now I'm nervous. Rebooted into recovery, wiped cache, dalvik-cache and fixed permissions then rebooted and it's still not progressing past the splash animation in boot. Any ideas?

Yes. Just flash the rom again. It is recommended you download it again first with correct checksum.

[Q] Stuck unable to boot after applying wifi fix

Hi,would appreciate some pointers from experienced folk:
My Saga is s-off, flashed with Virtuous Unity 1.27.0 using ROM Manager's Clockwork Recovery installation.
I added the Fitted ROSIE v.1.0 version from here.
Then tried to add the wifi fix from here (saga_wifi_fix_1.28.401.1_v3.zip), both using ROM Manager.
BUT, the reboot got stuck at the white HTC screen.
I pulled the battery after 10 minutes and restored the backed-up version of the rom prior to the two add-ons, using the ClockworkMOD Recovery that ROM Manager installed, but now the phone gets stuck in a reboot cycle - i.e. vibrates, shows the white HTC screen, switches off, reboots, shows the white screen etc.
Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks
Boot into recovery, try wipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot.
If that doesn't work do a fullwipe, reflash the rom, flash the fix and reboot
Full wipe and re-flashing the ROM was the only way I could get it going again

Ahh you should have waited. I had the same issue and I was able to log in by "unfixing" the fix.
I installed the FITTED ROSIE and the same happened to me......

[Q] Bricked ns4g?

I have a Nexus S 4g with ICS. Phone was rooted last year. Ran stock ICS for the past month (Sprint OTA update). Last week it rebooted when downloading an app. After the reboot all of my apps were "closing unexpectedly", not force closing. After about 10 minutes it tried to reboot and got stuck on the boot animation.
-Tried doing factory wipe/reset through the OS, TWRP, CWM and Fastboot. When it reboots, nothing has been wiped.
-Flashed Stock ICS and Gingerbread images. ICS will start and get the app close cascade, then get stuck on the splashscreen. Gingerbread hangs on the google screen/does not boot.
-Cannot write to sdcard but can copy everything off the phone to my PC. Toggling USB Debugging does not help.
Flashed stock rom using odin. It said that everything was successful but it booted up to the same problem.

I am out of ideas. I tried using Odin but could not find the PIT file for my phone.

if u have installed stock rom go to recovery and do a factory reset and clear cache
clear caches
I have done factory reset from the ICS UI, stock recovery (ICS and GB), CWM, and TWRP. I've cleared the regular cache, Dalvik cache, sdcard and everything that is clearable or wipeable in in CWM, TWRP, stock recovery. I've cleared the cache in fastboot and did "fastboot -w" (don't know exactly what that wipes) with no effect. I even had Windows try to format the phone. I have done any and all combinations at least three to four times apiece.

Wont pass the startup animation

I rooted my tf101 with PERI 0.4 via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155
And in the recovery mode i flashed either ASOP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779133
or CM10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858295
They all stuck at the startup animation.
For CM10, the animation keeps going on forever for 10 mins then i shut it down.
For ASOP, the startup animation finished and then I had a black screen and cant do nothing.
Idk if i did anything wrong, plz help
Thanks,
wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache. then reflash

[Q] Stuck on MOAR rom boot screen

After flashing MOAR 5.01 (with a complete wipe of dalvik + cache), I go through the Aroma installer, then reboot. When booting up the phone it showed the MOAR splash page for somewhere between 15-30min. I wound up pulling the battery because I didn't wanna drain it completely.
Any idea of what could cause this?

An initial boot takes a long sometimes, try to boot it up again and let it sit. 10 minutes isn't too unusual.
If that still doesn't work, a factory reset in recovery should fix it.

after the third try I got it working.. loving MOAR.
Thanks!
Did you do anything special to get it to work? I'm currently stuck on the "android" animation boot screen, I've reflashed, reformatted, wiped, and still can't get by this screen, I've let it sit for up to 20 minutes...
Was your battery charged fully?

you need to do a complete factory+data reset. not just wipe dalvik and cache. wipe system and data as well for good measure.

Nexus 5 stuck at boot animation

I have an unlocked bootloader. I flashed the factory images. The MD5 sum matched that on Google's download page. After it does the automatic reboot, my phone just stays at the boot animate and never actually boots. I've let it sit for about 10 minutes.
I've flashed factory images many times, including on this Nexus 5, and never had this happen before.
I'm using the USB cable that came with the Nexus 5.
I can boot back into fastboot, and everything works. I even flashed TWRP and can boot into TWRP. But in TWRP I can't mount anything, and if I try to do a system wipe, it fails.
Any thoughts? Has something somehow gone wrong while flashing the factory images? Help appreciated.
Edit: Booted into Stock Recovery and wiped cache and did a factory reset. Then rebooted from recovery and let it sit for awhile. It finally booted all the way up. Absolutely no idea what was going on there. Anybody else had a similar experience?
Doing a factory reset in the stock recovery almost always gets your past a boot loop.
