[Q] Change i9001 kernel for polar wearlink compatibility - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I bought myself a Polar wearlink bluetooth heart rate sensor to pair with my Samsung Galaxy S Plus.
Paring didn't work and I found out that devices with kernel 2.6.35.7 are not compatible because of a bug. (forum.polar.fi/announcement.php?f=112)
Since I have theI9001XXKQE ROM with kernel 2.6.35.7-perf I'd like to know if there is a possibility to change the kernel of this stock rom in an easy way and are there consequences if I do this?
Thx in advance for your advice
Tom

Hi, I had same problem, only way is change rom to android 4 with other version of kernel. I use CM9 on my galaxy mini and polar wearlink works. But ROM is quite unstable on my device (slow CPU, low RAM ). If you find other way to fix this problem with stock rom, let mi know! THX

Flash another kernel like that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345671
and the problem will go. There is no need to flash cm 9. You can flash a stock rom.

Well there is one little thing we need to know? How important is the phones camera to you?
There are ROMs which are based on stock and have modifications to speed up your phone and apply one theme.
But there are also ROMs which are based on another android version and they use open source drivers. (MIUI; CyanogenMod, short CM) Unfortunately the camera and some other little things (e.g. Hardware supported HD video playback) are currently not working as they should. But they go some steps further in terms of speed and customisation.

Well, it's a long time ago that I've installed a stock based cROM. But one I would try would be:
vurrutROM for XXKPU with vurrutKernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451218
Guides for installing cROMs and updating to XXKPU are all found in the development section...
P.S. There is really no need to create thousands of threads, this only makes everything confusing and splits the discussion. This is no chat room, so it can take some time untill you get an answer. I will report the threads to a mod so that he can merge them...

[Q] Best Kernel for rooted Note 2 AOSP Rom?

Hello everyone, i have an AT&T Galaxy note 2 rooted with android 4.3 and and custom AOSP Rom, i would like to know what kernel is best for OCing my note 2 to 1.8 ghz or above on an android 4.3 AOSP rom and is also compatible with note 2. Oh and undervolting is not really needed, but nice if it has it.
AOSP Rom+Android 4.3+AT&T Note 2
I'm wondering this too, I've tried looking for a good kernel but I'm not having luck. The ones I'm flashing are just causing problems on every AOSP ROM I've tried.

You should always stick with the STOCK KERNEL on an AOSP rom, hence always having problems on AOSP Rom

[Q] Why do some kernels work outside their intended Android versions and others don't?

I've recently installed the latest Hades ROM which is Android 10 on a friend's Note 8. I tried to pair it with the A2N kernel because it seems to be an incredibly good kernel... But it doesn't boot, or even go past the initial logo.
The problem is that on one of my phones, a Galaxy J5 2015, i can install any Android version while using the same kernel, Jet Cooled Kernel OC, which was made for Android 8. Tried it even on Android 11 and it works perfectly. Currently running AEX, Android 9, because it offers the most customization.
So why is that? Can somebody explain it to me? (To be clear, i'm not saying that people's work is poorly made or something.)
