Using the taskmanager removes the .apk files and any other database files/cache it created during install.
Using root explorer to directly delete the .apk file will probably leave database files/preferences etc. still laying around somewhere.

If possible you should click on them to install its cleaner.
Copying files directly into the app directy is usually only needed when you exchange system apps, because you can not install them.

Apps in /data/app can be updated through market, but won't survive a factory reset.
Apps in /system/app can NOT be updated through market, but WILL survive a factory reset.
thanks a lot (i pressed the thanks button too )
Any difference in uninstalling from the app manager or the market?

[Q] DSP Manager

I flashed Cyangenmod 7.1 RC, flashed Frank's Mod to remove all CM7 apps, flashed dark launcher theme.
I copied DSPManager.apk to SDcard prior to flashing Frank's Mod. But it says it can't be installed.
Is there a way to install DSPManager again?
Thanks!
You have to install it back to system/app folder and set permissions if using root explorer or adb push it back. Just hitting install will not do it.

Thanks for the reply.
But how do I do that?
I moved the apk file to system/app, changed Permission (selected RWX for owners) but it still won't install.
It won't let me change permissions at all inside sdcard.
Instructions for installing apk with root explorer:
1. navigate to file and copy apk
2. navigate to system/app
3. tap on r/w at the top
4. paste all apk
5. change permissions to match the other apks's in the system/app directory.
6. Reboot

Use root explorer to install it.
Copy/move apk file to system, change permissions to rw-r--r-- then move to the app folder .
reboot
Don't use root explorer. I use es file manager but can't set permissions with it. Could I fix permissions in recovery?

You need to delete some of the apps first because the rom is too big..
Change the keyboard, install a new one and delete the old one..also delete the launcher & use a small size one..
delete ringtones from system/media (use link2sd+root explorer for that)
And install light gapps from here..
Read the thread again before posting...people there have mentioned how to flash gapps..

In system/app delete these:
CMWallpapers.apk
Development.apk
Email.apk
Exchange2.apk
Galaxy4.apk
HoloSpiralWallpaper.apk
LiveWallpapers.apk
LiveWallpapersPicker.apk
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk
QuickSearchBox.apk
Rom Manager
SoundRecorder.apk
SpareParts.apk
VideoEditor.apk
In system/media/audo remove ringtones.
Some of these applications is not in the ROM, but I do not know which.
What's up, remove it and Add to archive with winrar or 7z and make .zip file.
Thanks for your reply..

I do not know. I've not have such a case. The important thing is that before you paste the file in
Root Explorer to set the R / O instead of the R / W.
Yes before i paste the file in Root Explorer i set the R / O instead of the R / W.
I also tried to replace the lib folder already present in the internal memory with the folder that I downloaded from the post, but then I can't change the permissions of the file...
