[Q] DSP Manager - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed Cyangenmod 7.1 RC, flashed Frank's Mod to remove all CM7 apps, flashed dark launcher theme.
I copied DSPManager.apk to SDcard prior to flashing Frank's Mod. But it says it can't be installed.
Is there a way to install DSPManager again?
Thanks!

You have to install it back to system/app folder and set permissions if using root explorer or adb push it back. Just hitting install will not do it.

Thanks for the reply.
But how do I do that?
I moved the apk file to system/app, changed Permission (selected RWX for owners) but it still won't install.
It won't let me change permissions at all inside sdcard.

Instructions for installing apk with root explorer:
1. navigate to file and copy apk
2. navigate to system/app
3. tap on r/w at the top
4. paste all apk
5. change permissions to match the other apks's in the system/app directory.
6. Reboot

Can we have this bootanimation ?

Hello everybody, can we have this awesome bootanimation ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11879611#post11879611
If yes, wich file must we download and how apply it? I'm on 2.2 CM 6.1.3
I just tried it... and it works on the X10i. But it is rather very slow and laggy.
I downloaded the one with the black background instead of grey.
1. Once downloaded, rename the file to bootanimation.zip
2. Install Root Explorer if you dont have it.
3. Mount your sdcard and copy bootanimation.zip onto it and then unmount.
4. Open root explorer.
5. Copy the bootanimation.zip file from your sdcard and then go to /system/media.
6. Paste bootanimation.zip in /system/media. Make sure you have r/w mounted in order to paste/overwrite the default boot animation.
7. You are done. Reboot phone to see.

-Install Script manager from market.
-Open script manager, navigate till system/etc/init.d and run the 2 scripts at boot.

There's ES File Explorer installed. Update to latest version in market if needed.
Open up app
Press Settings
Scroll down to root settings...
Check Root Explorer and Mount File System. If you fail to check Root Explorer, update to latest version of ES File Explorer in market.
Now that you got root explorer mode...
Press back till you go back to the file explorer.
Press the Sdcard looking icon on the row of icons. Its the leftmost icon in that row of 6 icons.
After you've pressed it, click into system folder
Next, click into etc folder
Next, click into init.d folder
You will see two files in there.
Hold down on the file (whichever first doesn't matter), then press properties.
Click Change in the permissions section, and then check everything.
Press Okay and repeat for the 2nd file.
After you are done, restart the phone.
After phone is restarted, go check to see if the permissions are changed.
thank you very much for the detailed instruction. i love this forum i tried em and it works

Cyanogenmod 7 DSP problems

While removing some apps I didn't need I accidentally deleter the DSP manager. I Google searched for the APK and found out I could extract it from the original zip file for the rom. I managed to find the APK for it, tried to install and it just says "app not installed" and it never installs. How can I fix this? I liked the DSP manager and want it back.
You need to put DSPManager.apk into /system/app and reboot.
It can't be installed like an ordinary app.
Way 1: Copy the APK to your SD card
Use a Filemanager to move the file to /system/app
Reboot.
Way 2: Connect your phone by USB, enable USB debugging, run...
adb push C:\Path\to\DSPManager.apk /system/app
Reboot.

That didn't work sadly. I'm using a file managed which has root access and what not. Copied to that directory, rebooted and it didn't do anything.

[Q] Cannot Change Permission.

I Want To Add New Boot Animation. I Download One With Zip File I Want To Paste It In System/media Folder. With Root Explorer I Am Not Able To Delete Old File Or Paste New File Or Change Permission. Please Help.
There should be a setting to mount R/W in Root Explorer if I remember correctly...then you should be able to change permissions.
I Checked Everything. Nothing Happens.
Solved : I Download An App Called Mount /System From Playstore And It Worked. Thanks A Lot

[Q] Uninstalled TaskManager by mistake

Could someone help me? I uninstalled the Task Manager by mistake. I already extracted it from the zip file of the rom, but i am not sure about how to reinstall it. I am using NExtGen Rom
If you already have the apk, simply use a root explorer and copy the apk to system/app folder. Change permissions to rw-r--r--. Reboot, and done!
