Atrix 2 freezing up on start-up. - Motorola Atrix 2

My Atrix 2 is all of a sudden freezing up on start-up.It goes through the Motorola Dual Core screen and th At&t Screen but as soon as it gets to the lock-screen it freezes, after a few minutes the screen goes dark and wont turn back on.I've pulled the battery countless times and it still wont boot up and work?
I am running stock and did not do anything or install any new apps today.I have no idea what happened.
Please any help would be great,I really need my pictures and videos.

Tried a factory reset?

is that the only option?I need my pictures and notes. Is there a way to get it to boot up normally or is there a way to back my stuff up?

Pictures and notes are usually on sd card and facrory reset let sd intact. You can try first only "wipe cache" from stock recovery maybe helps.

Also, you can take out your sdcard then flash or reset your phone.

Still cant get it to work, have been using my old phone.
How do I do a "clean wipe".
If I turn it on ,it goes to the unlock screen but wont unlock and the screen goes black but if I call the phone it goes through and the dial screen works fine.
I really need to get this working as I need the texts I have sent and received as well as everything else.
Can anyone offer any help or advice?
Biggest mistake to ever get a Motorola phone, should have stuck with Samsung.

i think ur blur launcher is having problem or u deleted it by mistake.
If any expert here makes a flashable zip of any launcher, or u can install it by adb

At this point I would recommended to reflash back to factory 2.3.5 using the fxz, and the update over the air afterwards.
Remember to always have a backup and use CWM in boot!
Follow this link and look at the instructions on how to flash the fxz: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650

Download "fxz" and "replace" files from Noob thread and flash it using rsd lite if its a software issue then it will be resolved if not i m afraid you will have to service it.

If you're using stock then you shouldn't have to FXZ your phone. With the phone OFF hold the up & down volume keys, and then press your power button. It should pop up the "Boot Mode Selection Menu" Release both the volume keys and then press the down volume once to highlight "Recovery." Then press the volume up button to start your recovery. Scroll to "wipe data/factory reset" using the volume down key and when it is selected press the power button. Then navigate to the "Yes -- delete all user data" using the volume keys (up or down) and press the power key when it is selected. After it has finished, it will show the first menu again. Then navigate to the "wipe cache partition" and follow the same steps as the wipe data/factory reset instructions. Once it goes back to the first menu after wiping the cache partition, then press the power button ("reboot system now" should be selected) and when your phone boots back up it will be like you just got it out of the box except you WILL still have all of your pictures and your videos.

Is there a way to get to my texts and call history?
I need those texts as they have numbers and things i do not have saved anywhere else.
Basically,is there a way to fix this problem without factory resetting is what im asking.
I will try anything,please.

are you rooted? if so you can reset then get all of your data back (I can explain how if you are)
If not, do you have usb debugging enabled? if so you can do a temporary root, just enough to dump your system so you can reset then restore your data the same way

Let's start here, try telling us exactly what happened and what you did to get yourself into this situation. For instance, are you rooted, running any custom roms, or are you on stock Android 2.3.6.? Which model of ATRIX 2: MB865 or ME865? Anything else you can tell us that you have done? The more information you can give, the better!

this would all be helpful. as long as he has usb debugging on he can use the root exploit to open things up enough to try pushing a launcher and if that fails dump the system so that data can be restored

100% stock.I have themb865.Only thing changed is I updated it when Motorola released that update, the one people said fixed the cam.
Here is a video of it,notice how long it takes to start up and when it reaches the screen, nothing happens. If I were to call the phone however it would work and I can receive calls. Also if I press the power button the screen wont turn back on unless I call it.It will run very hot as well.

Video of the problem.

1. Can you try bringing it up without the SD card? If you can, the card may be corrupted, may be need to put to a computer for fsck.
2. Can you connect to it via ADB? Then there are ways (google for exact command syntax: adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases ... in fact pull out entire /data/data, you can extract all your contacts, sms, call log from there) to dump/restore your data.

Like i said a few posts up bud, follow the link i provided and flash the fxz. It will fix your issue. Your pics will remain on the sd card, but yes you will lose your texts. Your contacts are backed up by your google account.

I tried to take the SD card out, same thing. The SD card I got in there now is a different one I popped in the phone so I dont misplace it.It's definitely not the SD card.
I am using an older phone,my contacts are not all there, infact most arent. I need my texts as there is numbers and info in there I cant lose.
I will try what you suggested,is there any other things I should do?

I should add,the last app I installed was that Lookout Security app.
I should have stuck with Samsung, never again will I get a Motorola phone.

Try resetting your device. Turn it off then turn it on and keep the volume down button pressed.
The phone wont turn on now
Take out battery, hold both volume buttons down and plug usb cable in

About 47 minutes, until your screen rapidly starts changing colors.
first off wrong section.
not sure if it works with this works with this phone but you can try oden.
you will have to find a oden flashable rom and boot your phone into download mode.
or you could put your phone in a microwave for 10 secs and take it back to the store and tell them it wont work. they will replace it as long as the water meters arent red.
Look at the post for one click installing clockwork mod and do that. Then find the post with the stock nandroid (or eagleblood) download it either put the files on sd via a reader or boot to recovery and use adb push to get the files on the sd card.
Then wipe the data and cache and apply the new rom. That should work. Don't use Odin as that's only for Samsung phones.

Do you have clockwork recovery installed via nvflash? If not, you need to do that, then download the stock rooted backed that is posted in the development thread...Once you do that, download SuperOneClick and unroot your phone, you should not be messing with this stuff if you don't know what your're doing...After that, check out the stickies in the G2x forums and read the rules about what should and should not be posted in the each of the forums.
sorry about the miss posting never posted before and thanks for the help.
still no success i cant get the phone to stay in recovery to flash nvflash im pressing power and down volume but the phone reboots and begins to boot loop again
You don't go into recovery to flash nvflash. You hold down the volume buttons while plugging it into usb with the battery removed. Search for the thread on one click nvflash.

Extremely frustrated, need some advice for PIN lock

I locked my phone a week ago (drank a little, was incredibly angry) and forgot the password the following morning. Tried every combination under the sun that was close to my usual lock PIN and had no luck. I read about the pattern unlock asking for a Gmail login, and I was never prompted.
I tried many solutions, including the ADB program but my phone was not set for debug. I decided to change my Gmail password online with the hopes my phone would prompt me, but no such luck. A day ago I found a program that would bypass the screen lock, but it had to be installed from the Android Market. Installation didnt work because I changed my Gmail password, but cant set it on my phone now.
I really dont want to lose my photos and data, it would be a huge setback and Im already having a difficult time with it.
Is it possible to install a custom recovery image WITHOUT losing all of my data, or will it wipe everything clean in the process? Are there any realistic options I have to be able to remove my PIN lock or recover my data?
I would really appreciate any help I can get, because it seems I have no other options left and Im left with a phone I want to throw in the trash.
You didn't say if you are rooted or not. If you do have root then you can probably just flash another rom and you wont lose anything. If you don't have root.. then I got nothing. If you don't already have a rom on your device but you are rooted you could probably find a app that would allow you to get right into your phones flash memory and put a rom in that way.
Also, pull our your micro sd card on there. If thats where all the data that you want to save then you could be in luck that way. You didn't mention where the data is saved. Pm me if you have any questions or you don't understand

Sorry, didnt think to mention those details. Phone isnt rooted, all data like photos and such is saved internally.
I never really looked into digging into the phone like this, but after I locked it I started looking at every possible option. Even sending the phone out to a data recovery specialist. Im basically at the end of a fraying rope, and it really sucks, Im so stressed.

So you tried your passcode those thirty times and then what happened? Nothing? I think that you should just keep on trying your passcode over and over again and maybe it will come up with you signing into your google account... maybe.
Data like photos, videos, files, etc etc are all stored on SD card (internal), except application data. Only application specific data like its configuration, etc go to internal partitions that get erased when loading custom ROM.
So your best bet would be to install a custom ROM and then get the data from your SD card. When a custom ROM says it is going to wipe everything, it means partitions like /system, /cache, etc, and not the internal or external sd card.
But for this you would need to be rooted. So try the one click to restore to stock (in one of the threads here). This is worth a try since this method should not clear internal SD card.
why dont you flash the community kernel giving you CWM, then flash a rom?

Idk if you can get into download mode if you're not rooted.. never tried it.
If you can't get into download mode you might be able to do the stock reset. I would make that a last resort though, it will probably wipe your pictures.
You do this by powering down the phone and then using the three finger method, holding down the power, volume up and down buttons. Let go of the power at the Samsung logo and then it will boot into a green screen. From there.. you have to figure it out because I don't know what the screen looks like. I can't remember from all those months ago when the last time that I was on the stock firmware for a while.
Optimus is right....just pull the battery...put phone in download mode and flash community kernel...when it starts booting...3 button back to recovery...if you don't have a custom rom on your phone...when you get to recovery..go to apply update zip and select and flash it...that will give you green cwm ...then go to mounts and storage and select mount usb storage...you computer will recognized your internal memory then you just transfer another rom on your SD card ....unmkunt usb and flash like normal...hope that helps...

Download mode screen has a small exclamation mark, something like in the pic I have attached. It is totally different than recovery. Recovery allows for a bunch of options that can be manipulated on the phone itself. Download mode allows phone to be updated only via a connected device i.e., a computer that pumps in data to the phone. By data I mean OS.
You cannot mount anything like USB storage in this mode. This mode is more like a mode that the manufacturer uses for automating initial OS onto the device, in a totally automated process. This method is also sometimes referred to as "restoring stock" meaning, restoring phone to how it was when out of factory.

To add to this:
Since you seem to be new, try to ensure you don't disconnect the phone from the PC until this process is complete. And get the phone drivers loaded onto your computer before you start this process.
Most importantly, as mentioned above, open odin first, and then connect the phone in download mode for odin to recognize the phone.

I find it odd that you were never prompted to unlock with gmail password as well, it actually says pin lock, not puk lock correct?
Did you try changing your gmail password back to what your phone thinks it is so you can run this program you heard of, that might work right? Just thought i would throw this out there if your having toruble with the more technical solutions being offered to you.

Its the PIN lock, rather than a pattern or SIM lock. I did try that actually, but Gmail wont allow me to use the same password twice. I spoke with someone at Google who referred me to a specialist, and I will ask for their help on doing this. I was told by someone else that with the phone not seeing the correct password it will essentially be logged out, but Im really hoping that is not the case.

[Q] Blank screen / No launcher / Only status bar on Android phone

Hi,
I need a help.
I have a phone LG VM701 (LG optimus slider) with virgin mobile.
I reset my phone and now I have no launcher and have a blank screen. I can only receive phone call or message.
To install a launcher I tried several things, but nothing worked.
When I got phone call, I went to contacts to add my Google account.
Then, I went to Google play on PC, to download a launcher automatically to my phone but my phone wasn't on the list of possible devices.
Then, I send me an email with attachment with launcher but there was no alarm on new email on status bar.
So that doesn't work too.
Next thing I did is making a friend to send an URL through message.
When I click the URL in message, the message program shut down.
(I was trying to connect internet app to download a launcher)
Then, I tried to use adb to install. When I connected phone to PC, I found there was no debugging mode.
I cannot type any thing because it simply doesn't connect to my phone.
I really don't know what to try next.
Help me if you know any other way to try.

ADB is always an option. If you do a search, there should be info about pushing a recovery image onto your device. Just as long as you have the latest drivers for your device, this should be possible.

Hi, noob here.
I have the same problem, everything works (camara button, notifications bar, etc.) but I have a blank screen and can"t access anything that its not a shortcurt through the devices buttons (can"t access the menu).
Its a Droid x and I rooted it, i deleted some things with titanium backup (nothing that said launcher and i supposed that if I stayed away from the green ones there was no problem but I backed them up anyway) and think this is the problem, I tried to back everything with CWD but could not get it to CWM recovery mode so I uninstalled it....I was gonna give the phone to my gf but found out that I could not add accounts and could not change the main one so I reset the phone and here I am.
Is the problem that I messed my launcher? can I apply an update from the sd card in recovery mode from a zip file or do I have to use ADB? or is the problem something else entirely?
PD: Sorry if this are dumb questions and the long post, thanks in advance.

[Q] Droid 3 stuck in bootloop

I realize there are multiple threads like this but throughout all of them I have not found any that relate to my issue or a combination of them. If I have missed one I apologize in advance and please direct me to that thread then. I was running steel droid what I thought was 5.5 ICS but it looks like it is 5.1 according to the forums. I was previously running steel droid 4.5 GB. I was switching back to 4.5 because I could not get wifi hotspotting to work. I forgot to wipe my cache and went to install 4.5 and I am stuck in bootloop. X+Power gives me the android error screen, M+Power allows me into the main menu but I cannot use AP fastboot, SBF motorola will not pick up my phone and the screen will show a connection to the USB cable. I've never had a problem before but also have never forgotten to wipe the cache so any thoughts would help.

Not wiping cache won't give you boot loop lol just go back into recovery wipe everything and flash a working ROM solved

I would but I get android error screen with exclamation mark each time regardless of how I access recovery X+Power or vol +,- and Power then going to recovery, I wouldn't have thought that not wiping the cache would have been the cause but it was the one step I didn't do that I normally always do so I was just adding it in for information but thanks for the know how that it wasn't the cause. Any other thoughts since I cant even get into my backup ROM or recovery, I have another SD card not sure if my SD card has become fried for some reason, I will be trying that to see if maybe that is all it is.

Yep but phone isn't picking up my data cable and how ever many issues that have come about here, I think I am SOL but gonna try an SD card hoping that it is just a bad SD card or something like that. May end up having to use part of that great tax return also, thanks for the help, I'm going samsung next, that whole fore sight wasn't there two years ago.
In it's current state, is it in any way possible to tell that it is rooted? Is the boy animation stock or a different one? Motorola might repair it for you if you can't tell that it's been rooted

Unfortunately you can easily tell that it is not stock ROM by bootloop
Well your computer should recognize your droid that's a common problem with Odin and Samsung one of these steps always work so try then and seen if we can't get your droid recognized NUMBER 4 WILL WORK 99% OF THE TIME BUT TRY THE OTHER METHODS FIRST 1. Use the stock cable or try a difrent port 2. If its possible on your program take out the battery and SD card as leaving them in course problems 3. Run the program as aminstrative 4. Plug the phone in and have it in download mode or whatever you call it WHILE THE COMPUTER IS BOOTING Up This will force the computer to recognize it not the best method but it always works

Thanks step 4 ended up being the working method, happened again when loading gingerbread back on, so I walked through it again, removed ICS from memory card wiped phone completely and then loaded gingerbread back on and finally had success. Thanks for all the help

Unfortunately, LGSetupWizard has stopped problem.

Bought this phone and didn't like it. Felt like my G3 was a better phone, so I went and bought myself the Note 5. Anyways....
I backed up everything from my G4 and did Factory reset. Now when I try to setup the phone, I complete the last step and I'm greeted with the "Unfortunately, LGSetupWizard has stopped" Message and then it returns to the first setup (choose language) screen. Just happens over and over. I just have this phone and don't know what to do. I really don't want to flash the PR stock file to my phone. Does anyone know of a solution or some sort of setup bypass?
Thanks in advance
do a hard reset, turn off the device, then hold volume down and press the power button until the lg logo comes up, release the power button and immediately press it again until you boot into the factory reset. Keep the volume down button pressed continuously until the factory reset screen comes up.
Yea, I tried that a while back but still the same problem...

Did you root before? replaced some app to system? I have this problem before cause of deodex home..but still can access it..
If you can reach wifi setting after start screen, try to pull status bar down...then go to setting>home screen>select home..
My advice is you have to reflash stock image but the problem will be MTP mode..
download sg usb mass storage enabler for access storage via pc..
Yes the phone was rooted.
I don't think I debloated by removing system apps. I think my problem might have came from using the debloated tool by gatesjunior. Though nothing of it when I reset the phone. If disabling the apps wasn't the problem then I guess I did go delete system apps.
But if I deleted Setupwizard, I wouldn't have the setup at all correct?

Still nothing. I brought it to a ATT device support center and they'd replace it but there was non in stock, so ATT will send me one in 4 bussiness days.
The device center will swap out the phone if they can't fix it and once its under its 1yr manufacture warranty. You don't ATT mobile insurance either. I had my Note 4 swapped out by them in store before.
You should just have to reflash the system img and it would work.

I had this problem too.. Couldn't find an answer short of flashing it to PR... After a loooooong time on the phone with AT&T tech support, finally did an RMA... Send the other one back this morning, I hope it doesn't come back and bite me later bc it was rooted.
I had serious thoughts of flashing an international system image to it so it could brick. But couldn't bring myself to do it...
I would however like to know what I did to get that.. I did just like the OP and did a simple factory reset. I did delete a few things from system manually, but that was mainly att stuff and Google books, magazines etc. I haven't rooted the new one yet bc now I'm skeptical on doing anything with this damn phone.
