Soo.. yeah.
Today, i was curious to see how much can Galaxy S users OC to.. from my understanding OUR maximum overclock is 1380Ghz.. okay.. good enough..
But..wait.
They can OC to 2.25Ghz? ??? i don't get this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419274
Explain please?
Thats nice. They are able to overclock to 1.5 Ghz without any issues.

Yeah i understand now, but one of them reached 1.5Ghz.. lol
I have used i9000 with 1.5 Ghz OC and it's buttery smooth on AOKP for i9000. Even with 1 ghz, smoothness and performance of it is ahead of my i9003 with 1.3 Ghz OC on AOKP. And mind you, i am talking about the UI and General Rom, Not games and stuff.
Can anyone experienced tell what's wrong with our phone? The CPU is more powerful than that of i9000, excluding GPU of course. Can't we OC our phone to 1.5 Ghz too?

our phone does give battery temp warning
once i was watching a movie , thor 720p mkv on software decode on mobo player using my headphones, 1.2ghz-300mhz,after watching continously for about an hour and 30 mins, my battery level was at about 12%, so i plugged in the charger , i charged for about 5 mins the i got a promt battery temp to high or battery to low there cannot charge and it stopped charging , i checked the battery temp and it showed 59 C the phone was really hot, i tried to unplug and againg plug in the charger but same promt, i finaaly switched off

But even in samsung's manual, they recommend not even using the phone when it's charging.

Hi Guys I have a Galaxy S 4G I have noticed that max stable overlclock is 1.508Ghz If I bump up to 1.516Ghz It is stable but at watching videos for a long time it crashes, I have noticed that the normal max temp is below 60 C or 55 C, that's stress testing for long time, normal everyday is 41~43 or, I Think It can go higher but I t would need 1500mV or 1600mV core Voltage also to achieve 1.6, 1.7 or 1.8 even 2.0Ghz It takes 1600mV or 1800mV, temps would be 45~47 normal, and above 60~65 on stress testing. But tegrak doesn't support these volatges, It would need to tweak the code. With proper cooling temps can go down to 33 or 30, lets say using the phone in a cool room.
Do you know when are they gonna support higher core voltages(Tegrak OC)?
Do you really need to oc that high?

At 1.5 is goood but for proper PC like performance it would be a bit higher.
2.0ghz would beat samsung sgs2
I know anything higher than 2.0Ghz the phone would suffer, I don't know if the main board can support 2.5Ghz or 3.0Ghz. The battery doesn't handle that much power not even 3500mah battery
Mine runs stable and quite cool @ 1.62 and I get 4128 quad score, but I have no need to oc the phone with all the tweaks.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Thanks I'm gonna try out your setup, but that's the highest it can go?
I get a max of 2300+ because I have no tweaks and I am at Stock 2.3.5 UVUKJ3
I really don't see the need for oc other than for playing a REALLY graphical intensive game. For me, I get a better performance boost from the tweaks incorporated into roms than oc. I tried running a 1.5 for a week and I honestly didn't even notice a difference other than less battery life.

Well I notice a difference but anything above 2.0 GHz it is nearly impposible, even if it is gotten above that it would not match new dual and quad Core CPU because they have a different architecture but the battery is the first thing that you notice but the things that I do on the phone require much more processing power than stock. Well the highest is 1.6ish that I think the phone has been able to handle. But definitely overclocking the phone will get you up to speed work new games coming out

The overheat notice is built in. If you're overclocking, you may need to step it down a notch! Also, you might want to use something like watchdog to make sure you don't have an app hogging CPU while idle, because even overclocked, it shouldn't be using so much CPU while idle to trigger the overheat warning.
I've actually decided NOT to overclock because of that... I thought my phone was immune to overheat, as it benched /stress tested fine.. then I handed it to my girlfriend and she played Princess Punt for an hour, and ignored the overheat warnings till it crashed! Ooops.

i use setcpu and a profile that underclocks my phone when the screen is off. i use the last cm7 nightly with newest trinity kernel, which gives me more control with the cpu clock

Dear all,
Is it a must that OC will consume much alot battery?
I am currently using Thiaiz V21a without OC, before tried the OC of Thiaiz and Accura V5 OC 1.18,, seems the battery drop much faster when OC..even it feel faster but not consistantly stable at all.
HOw about Accura V6.1 oc? Would it consume much alot battery?
You know the battery is not good at all so dont want to add burden to the battery by oc.
Thanks~

Oc'ed cpu eats more battery but not much coz we dont able to increase voltage yet, cpu runs at ref. Voltage.
Next point, the cpu runs on diffrent frequencies, matter of its using, a lot of time at 300 mhz.
Take more attention that custom roms has many tweaks to increase performance, so it's maybe battery killer.

for me max. 6-8 hrs for normal usage with keeping screen on/off and 2.75G signal or wifi on.
If in sleep time it drop about 15% for 7 hrs. (2%/hr)
It deppends
It deppends of the over clock and how is it made.
I've got mine overclocked and i haven't noticed a big difference between the stock clock and the new one.
Got mine at: 1188mhz tekahuna occ module.

i use acura v6 o/cd to 1230 and have not faced much battery issue. What do you need the phone to do if you want it to be constantly at 1.5ghz?
You can try using Faux's or Trinity kernel. Both have versions that are already UV'd upon flash. Although some chips can't handle UV. Also, I believe you have to use a different app to control your voltage.
When i play games or watch movies i set it up to 1.5ghz and since school is out and no job... im kinda on my phone for a few hours. Also, i tend to forget to turn it down.
Oh yea my bad, its cpu master. I tried -100mv to all frequencies and it'll work for like a minute then it'll freeze and have to pull out the batt.
I'll check out those other kernels but this one has really fast boot. Although, which of the other kernels gets updated the most?

so what exactly does this do for the performance of your phone? Is it just apps opening up faster and games a little better?
I understand the performance gains in cpu overclocking for computers in that you get faster encoding for videos, maybe a few more fps in gaming etc but how noticeable is doing an overclock for your phone?
Is it more of a just because you can or is there a real benefit to the user that they can notice?
A 30% overclock on your PC might give you 10-15% better performance but does that equate to similar improvements with a moving to 1.5 or 1.78ghz on your phone?
