[Q] Backup not starting - HTC Desire S

My htc desire s is htcdev unlocked.
I installed the fallout ics rom after rooting the phone. But before i had made a backup using CWM rcovery. when i had flashed the fallout rom i also flashed boot.img file [which came with the rom] separately as it did not boot without it. Now when i try to restore my backup all goes well but the phone does not start. htc logo comes and then after 5 seconds or so it turns off and recovery boots. I thought that this is a boot.img error. so i also flashed the boot.img file present in backup using adb. But still the same result. I cant use unstable builds as it is my daily phone so i would like to go back to the original htc 3.0 stock rom. Rooted preferably. Any ideas how i can do it. I cant find any stock flashable zip sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5 rom which was released last year. If anyone could upload it for me i would be very grateful of help out with my backup. I know its long but please help. Im stuck..

This thread has the flashable zip of the latest rooted stock ROM. I don't think the link in the first post works, but there is a 4shared mirror later in the thread.

[Q] Stock image and recovery

Well i am new to htc and just moved from samsung which has a very different boot loader. I rooted my htc sensation, super cid it and s-off. However when i flashed a custom rom insert coin. I did not make any backup or any nandroid backup (really stupid of me) since samsung has the download mode to go back to stock recovery easily. The thing i am facing is i can go to boot loader it displays s-off hboot and radio. However when i put the PG58IMG.exe it updates the recovery but when i take it off my sd card it shows image not found. I have team win recovery at the moment and i can boot into that as well. I have tried to flash the rom over and over again. This whole problem occured when i flashed the firmware update for insert coin. It runs into boot loop. Is there any way i can recover the stock version.
Thanks in advance i am really a noob for htc. And can you please provide me with the exact files please i have looked into htc sensation thread for 2 hours almost flashed everything but doesnt work for me. And i am using my laptop for the transfer of files since i cannot put any files while the phone plugged in.
hey, mate, i feel for you..
try to reinstall 4ext recovery, then re-flash the rom u are trying
Hey thanks for the reply bro...just a quick question but how can i install the 4ext recovery cuz i can stary the cell phone. Can i flash the 4ext in win team recovery? Can you please elaborate on that

MY Stuck Rezound after NeWts install...HELP

I bought a rooted rezound from a guy which had the ICS clean rom root. I wanted to resore it back to factory specs but then seen the NeWts-One-XXX which had the sense 4.0 with along with ICS 4.0.3. I installed the .zip file which it said was installed complete but now my phone wont boot past the htc ONE main logo. Can someone please help me.
Boot into recovery and reflash the Kernel. It is possible you flashed only the rom but not the new kernel that goes along with it.

[Q] Restoring stock boot.img

I intend to flash a custom ROM on my One S. I've noticed all roms require flashing boot.img
I did some searching on what boot.img is and found that it has the kernel and booting instructions.. Now, if I flash a new boot.img and some time in the future wanted to restore the stock rom, how do I restore the original one?
I have my nandroid and apps backup. Is that sufficient?

Restoring the Nandroid will restore the boot image, it is backed up during the Nandroid
If you use TWRP as your recovery, you won't need to flash boot image separate. TWRP bypasses the HTC restriction, allowing the boot image to be flashed with the rom.
If you want a copy of the stock boot.img, I know LeeDroid's Supreme ROM has it linked in the thread there. If you dig that thread out, you can download it and keep a copy of it.
Or run ruu if u want to go back to stock completely

Thanks all..
I should start my journey then
Good Luck and enjoy
Do as it seems you have done--read OP pages and beginning and ending pages of threads and include System wipes when wiping before flashing--
An update..
As I begun testing various roms.. I found out that neither TWRP nor CWM could manage to flash the boot.img from a nandroid.. I had to flash it via fastboot EVERY time.. TWRP took around 5 min just to flash the boot image and although it reported success, it didn't work! I got stuck at boot animation after flashing my stock nandroid until I flashed a stock boot.img..
No big deal, but just a note for those adventurers..
Flashing With RUU
I'm really new to Android. I've rooted my phone and installed something called TWRP. So will installing a RUU restore the original Boot Image and the Bootloader ? Please repli. Soon Thanks in advance.
AW: [Q] Restoring stock boot.img
The RUU will install stock recovery, stock boot.img and stock rom to your phone. You will lose root, custom recovery and your custom rom.
You have to relock your bootloader for running a RUU.

Phone boots then when an action is taken reboots

I just got this phone and I think I screwed the pooch?
I followed the tutorial for doing S-Off and then rooting and installing CWM which all worked. I created a backup for my Sense OS and then decided it was time to put a new rom on so I copied the .Zip for Cyrogen Mod9 and installed it but when ever I tried unlocking it it would freeze and then reboot so I decided to restore the old one and read more. I read that it needed the right firmware so I updated to 3.33 Universal and then installed Cyrogen Mod9 and now it still has the issue and if I restore the old one it just shows the htc screen then reboots. How can I fix this?

[Q&A] OTA Collection

Q&A for OTA Collection
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for OTA Collection. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Problem with falshed x920e
hello all,
for a long time now i have some troubles using my htc butterfly x920e.
when i bought it, back in 2013 there was no 4.3 OTA available. so i dicided to root the phone and flash a custom rom.
the first issues came along because of the confusing different model numbers out there (dlxu, dlxub1, x920e, x920d) but finally flashed hboot 1.54, rooted it and the most importend, installed sense 6 + 4.4 KitKat in InsertCoin 2.4.0 Kernel. Erverything seems to run just fine that days after flashing my device.
nower days
there are many little things that comes along with the not perfect ported kernel,
but one thing drive me crazy!
the battery wont hold for more than 10h, maybe 12h if i just turn off everything + less than 10% brightniss (i even cant remember when i last used more than 40%) + just use the phone as clock! , running every day 2-3x to my power adapter.
it seems there be huge problems with the kernel and my device. just flash a new version of insert coin isnt that easy.
so i want to go back to ANY stock ROM that will improve the battery. i installed twrp 2.8.0.0 and downloaded the recovery out of this thread (4.3 for twrp) unzipped the .rar and copy it to the backup folder from trwp.
the device detect the recovery file, start to do his job. it runs through, finish and when it restart nothing happen! the HTC logo on white ground will show, after that it just get black an turns off.
so i get back to insert coin, just to have a working phone again.
is there a huge mistake when i think, that i can just restore with a recovery and stock ROM which i get here?
is there another step i have to think about when my devive is root and falshed with another kernel + ROM than the stock one, to get back to stock?

Have a look on here somewhere. There is a stock TWRP backup. Give that a try. Or you can find a Boa rom and flash that.
Let me know how you go.
I just tried to install the stock 4.3 twrp backup, a user posted in the OTA x920e thread. It runs complet through but after reboot, the HTC Banner just disappear, followed by black screen / device off. Maybe because of the trwp Version? I installed 2.8.0.0 , for dlxub1 .
What means "boa update" , sry about the bad knowlegde.

It's not because of twrp. You have incompatible firmware with stock 4.3.
Do you know how to post info from fastboot?
Just go into fastboot and use command "fastboot getvar all" and post that info here, so I can figure out what you have to do.

Because you are S-ON, You have to flash boot.img from backup manually from fastboot.
Or you can S-OFF your phone and just restore backup from twrp.
Procedure for flashing boot.mg S-ON users:
1. Go into recovery and do a backup
2. Download this stock x920e 4.3 boot image and rename it to boot.img
2. Follow this guide on flashing boot.img :LINK or this video guide :Video LINK
3. After that go into recovery, restore 4.3 backup from there, reboot and wait for ROM to boot.
I did it just the way you told.
the boot.img flash was successful.
after that i tried to restore with twrp and the 4.3 backup.
now i stuck right at the green logo on whte ground. nothing else happen..
what did i wrong?

You did nothing wrong.
Maybe firmware is not compatible with this stock rom backup. Radio is same as mine (updated on stock 4.3) so I thought it should work.
Also try 4.2.2 twrp backup. I think that one is the same as your original one before you started messing with roms. flash 4.2.2 stock boot.img same way.
