Just throwing this out there to see which broswers everyone is using. I personally like the stock one. I used firefox for a little bit but since it was only still in beta it wasn't the greatest. Ie wouldn't format correctly with zoom and radio buttons and txt boxes wouldn't function properly. I haven't given dolphin a try or any other browser that might be out there. Let's see what your opinions are.........

I use FireFox just because of the FF sync with my laptop and desktop, but it sucks that I have to switch to the default to watch flash content.

+1 Miren!
10Char
depending on device, I use many:
Low end phone (huawei ascend on cm7) maxathon browser, renders pages astronomically faster than any other browser
Mid-end phone (htc hd2 -hyperdroid cm7) stock, kills miren/skyfire/maxathon/dolphin on my phone, easily. The flash integration is amazing in android's stock browser is more than enough to get the job done, completely content with my 6 second loading time for massive pages.
Tablets (transformer-stock 3.1 rom) I have no clue, the stock browser feels like the ipad in responsiveness and rendering (great thing) but occasionally "freaks out" and acts glitchy, have yet to experiment

Miren
.......
What is it about Miren that everyone likes? I installed it hoping to configure it differently than the stock browser for use with certain websites. I quickly found out it is just an overlay of the stock browser and the settings where the same for both. I did like the tabbed feature it added. Can someone tell me if Dolphin is the same, an overlay that uses the stock browser?

Opera Mini is the best, hands down.

Try Dolphin HD. I have Miren and Dolphin but prefer Dolphin. Then again I don't have a problem with the stock one...
the stock one is fine by me....
Although I don't use....I believe Dolphin HD is prob. the best alternative
Firefox (which I am avid Firefox user) is HORRIBLE....well not horrible but horribly slow ATM.....I will wait til' they develop it more
I use stock........nothing seems worth it to trade for (although havn't tried Miren, so I will)
I kept going back to the stock one as well...

I'm experimenting with Dolphin Mini now. Definitely seems better than Opera mini. For just general browsing I like it because of the reduced data consumption.

Then you haven't tried Miren. Seriously, I won't ever use stock again.
Instant forward and back, use volume keys or swipe direction to do so. That sold it for me.

I have the stock browser auto launching news articles from my readers as the page rendering is fast and nice. I use Dolphin HD to surf and search with.

Are you seeing google movies? The new market looks a little strange on my transformer. I can't find the featured tablet apps or movies.
Wow it is badass

Yeah on the tf its an additional app.
On my nexus one out actually replaced the market. Guessing its not HC optimized yet
Looks like I will have to wait a little longer for google movies.
looks pretty sweet I guss well have to wait for the movies though:/ but is it just me or is it a little bit laggy?
it looks like not optimized for tablet, how can I revert to stock market app?

Does anyone who's used the new market know if Google have improved
a) The damned search engine
b) A way of differentiating "tablet optimised" or "universal" apps from phone only ones?
(I know it'll probably be redundant by the time Ice Cream Sandwich comes out - but still)
I see movies on my phone

Has anyone tried it who is not rooted? While using temp root on my evo3d I don't have the options for movies but as soon as I reboot and loose temp root I do.
May be the same with our tablets. The movies only show without root.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Ok, I was able to verify that even without Root that the movies don't show up on the tab.
This is a bit frustrating.
On my EVO 3D that had temp root, the new market simply had no spot for the movies but I remembered that Google said rooted devices wouldn't be able to use that function. I then rebooted my EVO 3D and voila, I now am able to preview/rent movies on the market so I was hoping that you guys just had not tried that yet here since there is already permanent root for the transformer.
How is this not an option on our tablet? I don't get it.
There is an article that was written a couple of months ago about Google Movies which might be of interest for some people.
The new market is supposed to be for phones. http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/07/new-android-market-for-phones.html Read the title.
I have a rooted MT4G and the new market works just fine. I even have the movies tab, btw I like the new market, it looks great.
How is working on the TF ?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
This works great on my Samsung Fascinate and looks nice. Haven't tried it on my TF yet but will later today.
Hey the next market is for phones. Wouldn't install it on your tablets, it's not even tablet optimized. Step backwards.

Is working super great on my TF so I recomend.
Its working better than the original.
You can unistall if you want to dont replace your original when you install so that means that you will have 2 markets.

Can anyone access Chrome Beta for Android (4.0) from the market? I'm running Kindle Zone, but it's not showing up. If anyone has downloaded it, can you post a link?
thanks much!
http://www.mediafire.com/?iu3mpcbdzrwbdez
On both my htc desire and kindle fire, it doesn't work though, showing a blank white screen when pages load. I think it is due to lack of ha on both ics builds.
thank you so much! I'll give it a try!
it works for me!
edit, no it doesn't. I see program and all the settings and everything, but it doesn't display pages.

F*ck it. Worth a shot. Downloading now.
EDIT: No dice.
Same here. No Chrome on ICS.
Cant seem to get it work on cm7 either...
blank screen for me too. running kang 4.0.3 CM9 build that was downloaded yesterday.
The problem is HWA (as per my post in the ICS dev thread):
"EUREKA EUREKA, although many others have argued this viciously, full HWA is the problem for Chrome not working. My proof? The HTC Desire just received an ICS build with full HWA tonight, and suddenly Chrome is working. So now we know the problem, on to the solution!!"
got it running on EOS ics but looks like no flash support atm :-( or is it just me....

someone worked in a chrome kindle Fire with CM9?
Yeah as far as I know it isn't working due to hardware acceleration, because my friend has an Incredible rooted running a ported ICS (no hardware acceleration), and he has the same blank page issue as we do on the KF. Hopefully we'll get HA soon...
Do me a favor and from your stock browser on your ICS phone, try to access this web site:
http://goo.gl/JvqyR
You can't can ya? But my gingerbread stock browser can.
All this web site is, is a login page from my favorite late night talk radio program Coast To Coast AM. From your computer, and from any level of Android your able to access this page except ICS and JB.
Right now, my phone is running gingerbread and I'm able to select the link and view the login page. If i upgraded my phone to ICS, i wouldn't be able to view it!
I don't believe the carriers make any difference.
Now, there are only a few browsers that can access the link.
Firefox - yes
Dolphin HD - no
Chrome - no
Oracle - yes
Stock - no
When Samsung released ICS for my Galaxy S 2, i couldn't access this website from my favorite browsers anymore. It's like the upgrade brake my phone from the start.
Why? Can your stock ICS browser can? if so, what phone are you on, and rom?

Some of these browsers access broken core services that belong with ICS (Dolphin HD), and some other browsers somehow bypass these ICS service because they have their own (example: Firefox).
My instinct is leaning towards a kernel issue.. but Im a total noob, so i don't know.

Can't access it either using Chrome on Jelly Bean. Doubt it's the OS's fault since different browsers behave differently. The upgrade probably changed the stock browser (for worse).

I believe it has something to do with a core service built into ICS and possibly JB that the 'stock' browser and some others depend on. In my opinion, Firefox is a 'walled garden' meaning it doesn't depend an any service within the phone, so it works. Yet, Google Chrome browser depends on some 'lib' file somewhere that doesn't understand secure long URLs.

JB on TF 101 seem good
What was originally a request to find floating apps, turned into a list:
Browsers:
OverSkreen (Jelly Bean currently not supported, says in change notes it is work in progress. There are mixed results when sideloaded)
Floating Browser Flux
Video Players:
Stick it (Supports YouTube)
Super Video
DicePlayer
BSPlayer
Other:
hovernote - Notepad
LilyPad - Facebook, Google Talk, MSN messenger (other services like skype are said to be coming)
AirCalc - Calculator
AirTerm - Terminal
More information here
Any others?
sadly the browser is not comaptible with the tf700
someone tried to sideload it ?
I've used LilyPad HD and HoverNote. I use HoverNote primarily for taking notes while reading PDFs. LilyPad seems to drain battery a bit much so I don't leave it on as a service
I really miss Overskreen on my TF700 after upgrading to Jelly Bean!
I do, however, still use Air Term, Hover Note and Floating Calculator.... Eagerly awaiting a JB version of Overskreen!

Interesting - I sideloaded Overskreen and while it installed fine and *seemed* to work, I found that it kept locking up on my while trying to actually use it. I'd be curious to hear from others who have sideloaded it in Jelly Bean, along with their results... I would *love* to be able to use it, but being that even the developer says that it doesn't work properly with Jelly Bean, I'm a little skeptical that it actually works properly...

what do you exactly mean with "locking up"? Sorry but english is not my native language.
if you start overskreen, your Tf700 will just activate your lockscreen?

Sorry, what I mean was that after I start using Overskeen, the Overskeen app itself will just "freeze" - I can close it, but otherwise, it just sits there and does nothing. It happened multiple times in the 10 minutes that I tried to use it. Haven't had any issues with any other apps, so I suspect that it is a problem with Overskreen (especially since the author says that it's not ready for Jelly Bean). If you are able to use it without any issues, maybe I'll give it another shot later...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
No freezing at all. Its a bit laggy if you drag it across the screen.
But there is no problem using 2 or 3 "windows" at all.
BTW: Do anyone know a floating PDF Viewer app?
I had Overskreen installed before I updated to JB, Still works after, no locking up or lags. Though, I do notice it seems less responsive when I touch/click links.
there is also floatIRC for those who still stuck in the 90's like me
I brought Hover note a while back for University note taking and revision purposes and its great. It also works fine on both my JB nexus 7 and Galaxy s2, Check out my review
