[Q] no spelling correction option!! - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi evebody
I just got my tab 2 10.1 today and one of the reasons I moved from my old tablet with honeycomb is the spellchecking option, the one that underline the wrong ones, but is not here!!!, after reading some post about it, there should be a spelling correction option in languages and inputs but there isn't, any idea what may be wrong here?
I REALLY meet it hehe
Thank in advance
Cheers!!

Tab 2 10.1 Spell Checker
Page 184 of the GT-P5113 user manual has the answer to your question....

Thanks mate, but that page just talk about the predictive text, which is the same as honeycomb Android. And like I said in my original post I'm looking for how to turn on the new "fancy" spellcheck system, just like office, which underlines all the wrong spelled words in a document.
Anybody????
Thanks

I would think that spell checking would be contingent on your word processing program. I'm hoping that you weren't expecting the tablet to spell check everything that it comes across.

Well supposedly ICS has a built in spell checker, you can see it the following link, just like in many others.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4318?noredirect=true
And yes it's supposed to spell check in multiple applications
No body here is using it????
Cheers!

That is the stock ics (Google aosp) keyboard. Samsung has their own, and even my phone, has HTC trace as it's stock keyboard.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using Tapatalk 2

And does your HTC trace keyboard underline the wrong spelled words??
The Samsung keyboard doesn't
And do you have ics too?
Thanks
PD just another post about what I'm talking about
http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...lt-spell-check-android-word-processors-2.html

I actually finally ran into the red underlined spell check.. I was on the Nike store, and filling out my billing info of all places.. Unfortunately, I it was with my phone (ics).. I'll check with my tablet.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2

Don't worry. I know exactly what you mean, i had the feature on my Samsung vibrant running cm9. Now i use an HTC one s, which has ics/sense 4.0 with the HTC trace keyboard, but it still has the same feature. That feature is implemented into ics and operates independently from the keyboard. It seems though, that sammy took it out. It's not the only ics feature they took out, so them taking this one out doesn't come to a surprise. Either aosp based rom or sammy update is your only hope, just don't hold your breath on the latter.

no I've had spelling correction while filling out fields on the tablet. Click on a word when you are typing.

Sorry about the wrong place for posting
so, really? the only solution is to install a new rom? This mean root the tablet right?
Cheers!!

Anybody? ?

XDA Forum slang guide?

Is there any guide on commonly used slang & abbreviations used in the XDA forums?
Words like FC what does it mean etc?
It's o the very bottom of the main forum page .
Thanks! Found it, still FC is not explained on any of the 5 pages....
FC = Force Close
Some of the main things that might confuse you are abbreviations for phone names. For example, DHD would be an HTC Desire HD, Inc would be an Incredible, Mes would be a Mesmerize, etc.

Is there a way to auto update cracked android apps?

I've recently made the switch from iPhone to android and i'm still getting used to all of the ins and outs. I've recently seen that snappz market has been shut down unfortunately (side note anyone have another Site?). Is there a way to auto update the cracked apps like the normal apps?

Well hello there, new user who rushed into not only using the xda forums, but also downloading the XDA app and posting without reading the rules!
I believe you are going to be extremely happy with what I have to offer. You see, unlike the above post who just told you to read the rules -although in an indirect way, I'm going to be more helpful and give you the link so you don't have to bother searching!
There it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=530
Now you have to be extremely careful with the following process: anything you do wrong may result in permanent and irreversible damage.
First of all, make sure your mouse is plugged. If not, plug it in. You might need to install drivers. Next, hover your mouse cursor (that little pointer like object on your screen) over the link I just posted above (should be in orange text). As soon as the pointer turns into a hand of some sort, RELEASE YOUR MOUSE STRAIGHT AWAY. This is crucial. Now all you have to do is to click (use the left click button!), and read the rules!
Was that so hard? I most certainly hope not
I also think I should remind you -in a very friendly way- that you have already read and agreed upon these rules. Or should have. Now imagine the cure for all diseases was written in there. You wouldn't want to miss that, huh? I don't think so. So next time, please take a minute of your -certainly precious- time reading the ****ing rules before clicking on that shiny "New Thread" button.
Thanks.

This should be an automated response to any thread that breaks the rules.
now please close this thread and take action against member mex911 for fomenting piracy. That shouldn't be allowed, this is a devs site for God sake!

I pray that you get banned for some time or even permanent would be great that would do good for us. If you are so much into piracy please do me a favour, dont come back and ruin xda. You can pirate apps and have fun there. no need to actually learn something over here. Adios. Love to see someone take action against you
PS : i love you both xD

I know a great site too.
its very popular, i wonder why this isnt closed yet
its: HTTP://ISHALLNOTASKFORWAREZ.JUSTBUY.COM
you get updates, and stuff.
its hilarious, but you can also get movies and books there.
Warez are not only against XDA rules but installing them is just plain stupid. Most contain keyloggers and other info stealing code.
Thread closed and only warning.

Hey Mods! 'i535' in the forum name please?

Mods-
With all the samsung gsIII devices in the forum, it is hard to find this one in particular. Can we get the name i535 in the root name of this forum please? With an old device, I had been using it's model number to search for the forum and find it quickly.
What's hard of finding "verizon Galaxy S3"

Just type in verizon s3
Gs3
Typing 535 is 500% less typing than verizon galaxy s3. I need to save all those keystrokes for searching for XXX materials.
For ****s sake... your browser has a bookmark function and XDA has a favorites function that carry over into other apps like tapatalk to make getting to your most often used forums easy and convenient.
But maybe admin should change a bunch of **** to make things easier for you still.
Better and funnier than your tapatalk signature
Actually, I'm for this idea too, though for a different reason. I see a lot of posts in ROM threads like "is this for i9300" and stuff like that, this seems like it could possibly cut down on that...
But it's not really hard how can you get a forum confused clearly says VERIZON GALAXY S3..forum... sorry but if you get that confused you need to do little more careful reading& research ...

I think Verizon is easier then i535.

Exactly, if you cannot tell this is for the Verizon version of the S3 and you do not know if you are on Verizon or not should you really be messing with your phone to begin with?
Thread Closed, not needed. If you want to save a few key presses, just bookmark the forum link
There is also a thread, for forum request that would be better to post when requesting things related to new devices / names.

[Q] Spell Check

Spell Checker seems to be missing from the S3. Where when you miss spelled a word it would underline it in red and you could tap it to see a list of suggested correct spellings. Searched around a bit and it seems that Samsung removed for whatever reason. Would love to see this come back. Anyone know of a mod/addon that would get this back?
After some more reading it seems that CM has this. I prefer to stay on TW (specifically Bonestock ROM)
