[Q] Will installing new boot img also flash radio - HTC One S

I installed LeeDroid ROM (in this thread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658158
Also, I flashed the boot image via the script provided.
Presently my RADIO is: 0.16.31501S.02_10.18.31501S.08L. Is this a US version radio? or Flashing the Boot Image also changes the radio version?
What is the default version of the Stock Tmobile US Radio for OneS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will not change the radio. We currently only have a newer EU version of the radio. However, TMobile released a new update today.
Your radio is the US current excluding the tmobile update that no one has quite yet.
I also noticed that your build is 1.53, when LeeDroid is 1.78. Was this a pre-rom screenshot?

Thanks for your response.
Yes U R Right. his was taken immediately after rooting and a back up.
Then I installed LeeDroid 2.1.
Thanks for the information. I downloaded the new Radio from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684477&page=3
I should be able to flash the Radio Images just as I would flash other updates from ClockworkMod.. right? I have 5.8.3.1

Nope, you have to relock your device before the RUU can be applied, which is currently the only method to update radio software.
Of course, a device with stock rom/recovery, and (re)locked hboot can also update radio via OTA.
If you had a S-OFF device, the radio update would be as simple as flashing a new rom.
-----------------------
However, a different CID may also prevent you from installing a T mobils's radio.
This RUU update can only be applied to those who have T mobile's or the super CID(11111111)

Cerebeln,
I don't think that having root / unlocked boot loader prevents you from installing a new radio. I just booted to CWM and selected the apply update from zip and selected the radio zip and it flashed correctly. Also I believe if you look in this thread you will see that confirmed there also:

[Q] about hboot and ICS

Dear friends, I am about to install ICS and have read a loft of materials about it. But I have some questions that I couldn't find. Could you please guide me on that.
1. It is required to install a new firmware v. 3.24 in order to run the ROM. Then it is recommended to install new radio. Does firmware include new radio and if not what does it include?
2. As far as I understood new firmware updates hboot making it version 1.24, and it is written in the forums that only 1.17 hboot is unlocked. Could you please tell what difference does it make? Why can't I use fastboot in new hboot and why do I need it for?
3. If I make a full backup of my system does it revert everything back, or hboot and new radio is not the part of a backup?
4. I also have read that if radio and IPL do not match it could brick the device. How do I know what IPL I have and how to match recommended radio with IPL?
5. Once more could you please tell what components does new firmware include and why should I update the firmware in order to run ARDH 6.1.0?
Thank you for your replies, as I'm not doing anything until I clearly understand what I am doing.
Mikhail.
Newest ics. Puts boot up to 1.27 unlocked which means it gives you advance fast boot commands which allows you fasbiot flash radio and splash screens etc. Etc. Same goes for 1.17
Also yes newest firmware does put new radio in
Can't answer all but remember, if you update to hboot 1.27, say goodbye to GB roms as they are not supported on hboot 1.27... You have to stick with ICS roms in future... You can't revert back but that i am not sure about...
You can go can go back long as your super cid

It that right if I say that new firmware updates new hboot and radio? Or there is something else that the new firmware includes? I also a bit confused what all mean by "firmware" because in wiki it means the ROM + firmware and kernel.

Yes it does look at your current hboot and radio once you update to firmware 3.24 you will have hboot 1.27 and radio 11.x. x. X when I mean firmware I mean the pdimg that is needed to flash new ics roms

Desire S Orange UK downgrading woes

Hi all,
New to the developer scene in terms of android phones so this current situation is causing a head scratch.
I think the problem lies because i've i tried flashing the x.x.401.x version when my phones branded software is x.x.61.x and i can't seem to find a RUU for it (20+ forum pages later). I've unlocked the HBOOT using HTCDev and i've managed to get clockworkmod on it under the recovery but the phone is still S-On and while I keep installing SU-3.0 through clockworkmod I still don't think I have root access according to ROM manager.
Any custom ROM I try to install (CyanogenMod, MIUI english fan version, MIUI official version) successfully installs on clockworkmod but just hangs on the HTC logo upon reboot and has been left for hours to make sure. I'm guessing this is down to actually having root or not?
As i've said I can't find the downgraded software version but the Europe RUU has the same radio as my phone, I am guessing that the branded software version is more important than matching radio's?
If anyone can help i'll be greatly appreciated because i'm starting to tear my hair out
Seany
EDIT: there is a x.x.61.x RUU for orange UK online somewhere but the radio is not the same (Radio_20.28b.30.0805U _38.03.02.11_M_release, as opposed to mine: 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M) i'm guessing it would be a bad idea to flash until I get confirmation as I have no idea what would happen.
EDIT EDIT: That RUU is for an older version of gingerbread (V2.3.3 compared to V2.3.5 on mine) and HTC Sense V2.1 of which mine is V3.0
Then you should keep reading. Not sure what you getting at with the RUU stuff.
As for the custom ROM,.......
You need to flash the boot.img of the ROM you are trying to flash. Look into it.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
From what I've researched the RUU was needed in order to downgrade the bootloader from 2.00.0002 to 0.98.0000 in order to use the Revolutionary io in order to S-Off.
As for the custom ROM I've flashed the boot and now I've got bootloop for the cyanogenmod ROM, going to try the MIUI and see what happens. It's like it isn't installing the files but I can flash the boot
EDIT: MIUI also in bootloop, I'm thinking it has something to do with the flashing of the ROM using clockworkmod because it seems like it has no progression from the boot file.
Thankyou so much foX2delta, it was a boot.img issue and to do with flashing the boot, problem resolved

[Q] Question about Radio 20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.110

I download the "[RADIO] [FIRMWARE] ICS firmware and radio from WWE RUU" and flash in bootloader, there show me 4 thing:
1. userdata
2. tp
3. Radio_v2
4. Radio_cust
I know the Radio should be the 3 Radio_v2, what is the other things.
I remember I flash the other radio version before, it just show me the Radio_v2, why this new one have 4 items, the others is the firmware files?
Should I flash all the 4 items? What do the others except Radio_v2 use for?
If I only want to update my Radio, How to do?
Thans!
only flash the radio.img file... I've tried to flash all of them via hboot before and it messed up my mobile data connection...
Note: don't flash any radio if you're not experiencing any errors or weird things on your current radio when flashing any custom roms...

What was your data connection problem?
I lost 3G connectivity after upgrading to ICS and can't get it back working (checked apn, changed radio but nothing worked...)
Any advice?

Actually I dont have problem with the old radio 20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M. Only becasue I would like to flash the ICE DS, that recommand radio 20.72..., but I dont find the radio 20.72... img file, so I update the 20.76...
Now I only update the radio_v2.img, every things look like ok.
Btw, maybe use the old radio 20.28i also ok. I cant find any difference.
Did you only flash the radio_v2.img? if not, maybe that is the problem.

When i flash the radio including the firmware, my mobile data (downloading) messed up. Its like stopping every time i download ang wont continue.
I've solved it by flashing another radio and firmware
like overwriting it all.

I did not download and flash my old radio but I've flashed the firmware and radio 3831.17.00.16 over my DS and it solved my mobile data problem....
Edit: Before flashing, be sure to make a nandroid backup and this firmware and radio will erase your installed ROM and you will be stucked in HTC logo.... I know that it is wrong but I have to pull out my battery, wait after 5 - 7 mins and reboot to recovery and install my current rom... maybe you should use adb commands instead of pulling out your battery to reboot your DS to recovery after flashing it....

You can't backup your radio. What you can do is look in system setting and look for the smalband version.
Most of the radio's you can find in this forum
Reboot your phone in the recovery mode and do a nandroid backup
And the easiest way to flash a radio is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860253
download the file and flash the radio.
Good luck!

It was long time ago, I don't remember which one but after install I got black screen, and all night I've tried to install back recovery and return back to the custom rom.
My current info:
HTC Desire S, S-OFF (revolutionary)
HBOOT - 6.98.1002
RADIO - 3831.19.00.110
ROM - Virtuous Unity
what actions, should I take, to get stock rom on my phone. Thank you!

If it was a 2.xx ruu or the ics ruu, then your Hboot version was the problem. Hboot 6.98 doesn't have the separate /system/lib partition that the more recent stock Roms use, so you could try updating your Hboot (to 7.00.1002) and flashing the ruu again.

The revolutionary 6.98... is write

I couldn't find firmware in this thread, that you linked. Where did you get it? Or did you flash this PAC-Man ROM and it flashed radio and firmware also? Were they, sort of, "build-in"?
I might have to uninstall firmware from "[RADIO] [FIRMWARE] ICS firmware and radio from WWE RUU" thread, too...

[Q] How do I flash a new radio?

I see the thread that showed the new 3.18 radio for AT&T is out. I have SCID, root, S-OFF, and viper XL installed - I've gotten that much, however, how do I upgrade the radio?
I see in the radio thread that there are 2 downloads, one that has RLL files and one that does not - which do I need? Thanks for the help!
use the 3.18 Radio from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1694012
in youre case, you can Flash the zip in TWRP as you do with a ROM.
the RIL files maybe can make Problems.

[Q] Stock HBoot to replace JB HBoot

Hello all,
So finally, I have managed to S-OFF my phone using JuonoputBear (I never get this spelling right!). Downloaded the latest version for Ubuntu and can't believe I only did the wire trick once and it was done.
But anynow, to my surprise, the JB tool went on installing the JB hboot itself. Initially I thought it would ask me to install it or not and I would refuse it but... it didn't even give me the option. So now I am stuck with the JB hboot which I dont want.
So the questions is, is there any way I can revert back to the stock hboot?
Thanks guys, all your help made it possible for me to S-OFF my phone.
Regards
just to know that with patched hboot you are fully unlocked and you can use all fastboot commands
i don't find a reason to return to official hboot

Thanks for the reply. The reason I wanted to go back to stock hboot was that its highly unlikely that I would be using those extra fastboot commands. Besides, I dont like the Juoponutbear logo on top of the hboot.
Also, now that I am S-OFF, I am kind of gone sensitive to installing any ROM. I intend to install Android Revolution HD ROM but I dont want to flash anything wrong on my device like Radio etc. I only want to flash whats need to run that new custom ROM. I guess that doesn't include the kernel as I already have ICS stock ROM.
Can anyone point me to the right direction? Where I can find the steps to install custom ROM without any risk of flashing something wrong?
Thanks.

Hi,
There is no way you can "Accidently" install a radio.
You are not in bootloader for any length of time normally,so ,it should not matter what is written at the top.
That is just the way Juoponutbear operates and leaves it's mark.
It is the only way to s-off for you,so ,you are stuck with it.
Unless you s-on again.
As for flashing ROMS,put it on the root of your sd card, choose zip, install zip.
That's it.
EDIT:
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
If you flash Kohr-Ah's Universal 3.33 firmware, does it say Universal at the top?

Is that all? I thought that once you have flashed the zip package, you have to extract the "boot.img" from that zip package of the ROM and flash it separately?

Sorry I had to come back on this one. I was checking the Android Rev. HD thread and in the download section it said it is necessary to flash new firmware package before flashing this ROM/ And the firmware package also contains radio flashing.
Since I am on Stock ICS at the moment and my firmware is 3.32. Do I still need to flash my firmware?
