Guys I have a big problem. I just bought a galaxy tab 2 10.1. I rooted and than I installed Rom manager. And I used Rom manager to update the CWM. When I did that it asked me what device I have, and by mistake I choose galaxy tab 10.1 (the first one) and after reboot the tab is not turning on anymore. Can't go in recovery or download mode. I tried everything.
Its weird because Its just a recovery not a kernel or a Rom. Please any ideas?
The main question here is : how can I go to download mode without a button combinaton . Or how can I rewrite the bootloader or recovery.
Thanks

Okey, this seems to be bad. The regular answer would be: take it to a service and get it looked at.
The long answer involves a few questions first:
1. Is your tab charged?
2. What can you see when you plug it into a charger?
3. Does the screen light up when you power it up?
4. Do you get to see the "Galaxy Tab 2" logo after powering on?
Also, please describe EXACTLY what you did and what HAPPENED. It is very important to go into as much detail as possible (did the tab reboot and when, did you get any errors, how did you flash etc.)
Cheers,
C.
It probably is charged.. When I plug the charger the screen shows nothing but if I leave it with the charger plugged in for some time I can feel the back cover being warm so I presume its charging. When I power on the screen backlight does not activate.
When I plug the usb into computer I just hear the sound that windows make for " new device detected" and an instant later the sound for " device disconected of unrecognized". I checked the device manager when I plug it in and it just shows TIOMAP 4460 for half a second, the cpu code nr.
What I did is exactly what I said..after I installed Rom manager I just thought its a good idea to update cwm and I used the option in Rom manager to do that. When the app asked me what device i have I selected galaxy tab 10.1" . In dont know why I did it...I have android devices since 2 years ago and I tinker with them, I usually know what I'm doing. Anyways, the app downloaded the recovery and rebooted. And that's where I am now. A dead tablet. Thanks for trying to help.
The thing is I bought the tab from Costco and I initially bought the 7" and by mistake the salesman gave me the 10" ... So I don't really want to take it back yet because I will and up with a 7". And I love this one Already.

Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not development forums.
Thread moved.
I would say it is completely broken. You installed a different recovery which on another device is located differently than on this tablet, so basically you wrote over something that was necessary for the tablet to boot. Your only option is to take it back.
Screen not turning on is a bad sign.
The second tab generation has separate recovery images, so what you did has little chances of bricking the device. To test this, I have intentionally flashed the recovery of the 1st generation 10.1 tab using ODIN. Flashed fine, recovery didn't work anymore, but I was still able to reach download mode and flash a proper recovery.
So, try to charge up your tab for a few hours (maybe over night) using a power outlet, and try again tomorrow. If the screen still does not turn on (i.e. receive power - should lighten up just a bit, not turn all white) then my opinion is that you have a hardware failure.
I encountered a similar problem with my P1000 in the past, so just be patient. In the end, if it doesn't turn on, think about it this way: a smaller tablet is better than no tablet, right?

Pay Costco the difference and then return it to Samsung for repairs.
I should I pay Costco anyhing ? I can just take it to Samsung myself... The problem is that I'm a seaman sailing in Alaska...not to many Samsung service centers here. Well I still have 8 days untill I reach the town where Costco is so if I can't fix it untill then I'm just gonna take it back and hope they give me a new one (7" or 10.1" doesn't matter).
Thanks for all the replies guys.

After you get your new tab or repaire this one get rid of rom mngr. This program causes more problems than what it's worth.

Ok i returned the tablet and got a full refund.
What should i get now? Wal mart sells the GT 10.1 first model at 300$... and i think this one is better than the tab 2.... advice please

Tab 2 is better, having original before Tab 2 is quicker , sound quality is much better with front facing speakers . No camera flash? No big deal, its a Tablet not a camera. External SD is better than no ext SD.

Okay, I bought a used MT4GS from a fairly reputable phone reseller called CPR (cell phone repair.) I bought it back in March or April of this year. I immediately rooted and installed a custom rom and CWM. A few months ago I upgraded my rom to CM9 and about a month ago I began having problems. The isses were minor at first, the hardware buttons on the outside of the phone would stop working but I could open the phone and use the ones on the keyboard. Then in the past two weeks all of the buttons would stop working. I thought it was a hardware problem so today I dropped it off at CPR and they took it apart and tested all of the buttons. According to them all the buttons tested out fine. So I have a phone that the only thing that works is the touch screen. Here is the odd thing. If I hold the volume down while booting I get the fastboot menu and can navigate it using the volume keys. If I go into recovery mode none of the buttons work same as in the phone. So either this is a software problem or a systemboard problem. Because my power and volume buttons work on the recovery menu I'm inclined to believe it's a software problem but I'm a little lost on how to fix it. I just tried to boot the phone again and it's now stuck on the boot animation and does nothing. Please help!!!
I was curious if you tried a reinstall before your keys went completely berserk...but no matter now. Sometimes a person will get a bad download though and you can get some WEIRD results from them.
Anyway....this is how I answered on the CM9 Thread if you hadn't seen it......
I've never heard of a ROM brickng a phone especially gradually but I suppose anything is possible. If what you're wanting to do is to return to stock & just kinda "start over" then just go to This Thread and scroll down to the files labeled as "Return to Stock" & download the correct file according to your installed software. Then you can just place it in the root directory of your SD card and reboot into Hboot. PG59IMG files are designed to run from your bootloader and you just answer the few questions it asks as it does.

Yeah I actually did that last night. Got to watch the intro animation from HTC/T-Mobile etc. Still no buttons. I'm guessing that the system board has a bad chip since the buttons tested out okay. That is more consistent with the gradual failure than a software bug. Now if there were a rom made for a phone without buttons then I'd be in good shape. Luckily I found an identical phone on Craigslist for $85 which I feel is reasonable for a discontinued phone. Does anybody have recommendations on QWERTY Android phones for T-Mobile that are better than the MT4GS?
Someone mentioned that Samsung is coming out with one soon but I can't remember the name for squat.
If it's for T-Mobile then I suggest the Samsung Relay 4G. Else better wait for Samsung Stratosphere 2 fior Verizon if you might consider changing networks for the sake of a better phone.
THAAAAT'S the one! Samsung Relay 4G. Thank you kind sir!:good:

Samsung also.
First off let me say I'm sorry about the death of your MT4GS - mine died over a month ago and I'm still in mourning. However, the Relay is a nice little device. I don't want to be accused of attempting to recruit people again, but at the risk of saying so it is an upgrade from the HTC product in MOST ways - some people don't like the screen as much and the camera is definitely inferior. However, it's a nice device. I'm happy with it honestly. TouchWIZ takes some getting used to but since HTC didn't give us ICS, even ICSense... and Samsung has ICS on here with JB to come... I'm satisfied. If you are still curious we have a thread in the G2/Desire forum that we are using until XDA gives us a dedicated forum.

I recently bought a Samsung Blaze from my friend who upgraded to an Iphone 5 for $50.
I really enjoyed the phone, but being the autist I am I couldn't handle the bloaty pink addons that tmobile had provided. In addition I had numerous prompts about how my phone couldn't complete wireless calling due to my dated prepaid sim card.
I decided to use keyes to upgrade to ICS, which provided no new differences.
I then decided to go to my local library to root my phone on a windows machine.
During my first attempt I was rushed, and ended up soft bricking my phone.
My second attempt was sucessfull in rooting and installing the clockwork mod.
I tried downloading liquid smooth and installing it, like a moron ( i assumed all roms would work with any device considering that I really couldn't find a specific set of roms for the device). I ended up hard bricking it.
Now, what do I do?
Can I go to tmobile and play dumb, despite the fact that I do not have a contract with them and just a prepaid sim? Would they offer a replacement even without a receipt (its got TMOBILE plastered all over the front in that respect).
or
Should I just play dumb with Samsung? Say that my power went out when installing ICS on kies and my phone wont turn on? Will they send me a refurbished one?
or should I just sent it here mobiletech videos .mybigc om merce.co m/s amsung-gala xy-blaze-4g-jt ag-bric k-repa ir/
It might be nice to have it unlocked and rooted, and I guess I could have them install a rom I want in that event.
Any insights are much appreciated.
I've hard-bricked my Blaze once. All I did was send it back(not in store) and get a new replacement one.. As some people suggested, have you tried getting in download mode? ROMs as you've learned don't work with any device. That's why we have a separate forum for our device . Which LiquidSmooth did you use? In the Dev forum(for the Blaze) we have a LiquidSmooth ROM..
Neither T-Mobile nor Samsung are obligated to replace the phone for a number of reasons, but you could give calling them a try if all else fails. Samsung might be willing to replace it if it has been less than a year since it was purchased, but my experience with them is that they wont honor a warranty without a receipt if you're not the original owner.
First try getting the phone into download mode and using ODIN to reflash the stock rom tar, following the directions of course: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591601
You really can't hard brick this phone... I've even wiped all partitions abd got it back..
Get it to download mode and you are good

To specify, it is not reacting to any button presses at all. The soft brick that I previously did just made it freeze at the tmobile spash screen, which I fixed by returning to stock.
I cannot currently turn on the phone, nor get it to download mode. I will not indicate if it is charging, and plugging it into the computer brings up "improppertly removed media" prompts on my computer screen.
I only have osx and linux, so I kind of rushed when the library was closing and downloaded a stable version of liquid smooth, turned on usb storage on my phone, then launched the zip file from clockwork rom manager, just as some random web page told me to.
When you said you returned it back, did you mean tmobile or samsung? Did they ask for receipt or for your sim card to still be in the device; or did they just take it and give you a new one because it was clearly marked as a tmobile device?

I once accessed hidden secret settings on my Samsung galaxy ace plus s7500 and i changed some settings there i dont remember what i changed.
Since then my phone is stuck in boot loop
Its not rooted its not going in download mode also any suggestion?
Hi,
I'll have your thread moved to your device section so the experts who own your device can offer suggestions. Without getting into download mode, you may have a problem though.
Good luck!
Thanks darth
what u changed?
Recovery download mode, nothing accessible?
Nothing is accessible
After switching on samsung logo appears and vanishes there is vibration and again bit of back light then again vibration and again logo and this cycle goes on until u pull out battery
I tried using key combination to put in download mode then there is nothing on screen only vibration is goes on.
I contacted the service team (its not in warranty) they said we are unable to get the cause we have to replace the motherboard and memory chip inside it
Some months ago some people on this forum had similar problem which was solved by replacing power button.
But if your warranty team says its a motherboard problem, you'd better get a new device. (I would recommend you staying away from Samsung)
Yes now i dont buy samsung products though as i had similar experience in terms of service and warranty on other products too they give 10 year warranty but they say your issue is exceptional. I had s4 also which was in warranty it had certain issue with sim slot and when i contacted them they said sorry this is not covered in warranty. For ace plus also they are asking almost the whole price of device.
Now i am a happy Moto G user
Thanx everyone for all the help i guess i should throw this samsung device away
Are you sure power button can solve this issue?
Thanks

hey guys, we have all been there when a family member hands us a piece of tech and just says fix it.
So anyway got a samsung tab 2 GT-p3110 which looks like its been bricked somehow, wont turn on at all and when connected to a PC will just pop up with USB device not recognised and won't show up in any kind of device list.
Apparently its already been taken to a PC shop and they were told to "download the samsung software, and just recover the data" so my task is to try get some pictures off what seems to be a dead tab 2.
Ive tried having a look around and ended up here, so if anyone could help that would be great
Do you see the charging icon when you charge you device?
If it is then try going to download mode
And flash the official firmware using odin.
Today my Galaxy S4 broke and the screen shows nothing and the touch does not work. I know its broken by the fact its shadered too. Im getting a new phone but I need to get some things off of it before I do but there is one fatal flaw... USB debugging is off. This means i can't use adb or any programs like [email protected] to get the files off or enable debugging. Iv been spending hours trying to figure out how to get my pictures and files off but with no luck and im getting kinda frustrated.
I am using a Galaxy S4 running Android 4.4.2 and it is Rooted with SuperUser, if that will help at all.
Any way I can get my pictures and files off is welcome, but please do not just point me to a different forum as iv been looking for hours and can't find anything. Google was not in my favor this time...
Also note I am not using a SD card, kinda dumb on my part...
please help...

I don't really know if you're on a custom rom but found something with Kies
Kies will not let you access your phone unless you unlock the screen on the device, this can be done relatively easily!
Go onto the Samsung website and click the 'find my phone' button (or simply google this).
Log in and there will be an option on the left hand side of the screen to unlock your screen remotely, click this and when the progress bar filled it will say 'your phone is now unlocked'.
Connect with your USB Cable and Kies will allow you access to your files.

This just happened to me! Phone works but screen and LCD broken and unresponsive. I had a screen lock too so what I did was I took off the back plate, removed the battery, and unscrewed the six screws to uncover the PCB board under the back housing. Then I carefully disconnected all the tiny ribbon connectors. I waited a minute just to be superstitious and then reconnected all the ribbon connectors and put everything back to how it was. Then I downloaded Kies from the Samsung website, plugged my phone into a computer via USB and was able to view all my files! Something about disconnecting the PCB board resets the default settings to factory state but doesn't delete any data at all.

The first one with "Find my phone" doesn't work anymore, plus i don't have a samsung account i use Google for everything.
The second one i don't want to open up my phone because im using it with US cellar on a 2-year contract, meaning if i totally break it (not just the screen like it is now), then i wont be able to trade it back in and get at least some of my money back.
