HTC 7 PRO or HTC TITAN - HTC 7 Pro

hello,
I have a doubt that I would like a reply here. I am thinking of buying a HTC 7 PRO or HTC Titan. I know they're two completely different phones, but my question has more to do with the updates. It is anticipated that when updates come out the HTC PRO 7 will be entitled to them? if not is likely to appear here on xda?
Greetings

I think its pretty safe to say at some point the updates will be available on XDA. It looked like there was no hope for custom ROMs on the 7pro/arrive and we did eventually get them. Not so sure about the carriers pushing the updates for the 7 pro though. Hope that answers your question

so we have updates like tango or the windows phone 8 ...
I am search because i am divide by android too

[Q] HTC Support History - Ditch HTC??

HTC seem to be developing a history of dropping development and support on their models after 6 months, which is extremely annoying unless you like to upgrade every 6 months. Is this false? Or should we all migrate away from HTC to other phones for this reason? My particular interest is in Android.
I was going to get my wife a HTC Desire Z but now I'm wondering if she's better off with an Android phone from a brand with a support history longer than 6 months.
Which Android vendor provides you with long support?
For me, I have just bought a HTC Dream more than 2 years after its release because there are tons of custom roms on xda. The Dream lives on because of the large community.
Make sure what you buy is a popular phone, so when official support stops you would stil get new roms from the community.
Inclined to agree, I have the original Desire so I am reading up on rooting and custom ROMs. Any suggestions or warnings?

Take your time and read those stickies on the Desire forums. You'll be glad you did.
To OP, I think most are about the same. Though, I am still a little annoyed at the whole TyTN II debacle a few years ago, lol. For me, it really comes down to build quality and not much competes with HTC. Especially when they try. Like the HD2.
I sure am taking my time. I am the kind of person who drives everyone nuts with questions on every detail.

This site is a benefit to anyone who uses it. It will extend the life of your phone. Many of the manufacturers will drop support after a few months. Most don't provide upgrades to software. Being able to use this site provides you with both: technical support for problems and upgraded software as newer versions becomes available.
My advice to you; buy a phone supported by XDA. If its not on here, don't buy it...

Wise words. I am so thankful I got the STOCK factory standard unlocked / unbranded AMOLED UK HTC Desire now, that's about as 'vanilla' as you can get by the sounds of it and I should be ok for ROM support then. Now to work out the right rooting / ROM procedure and which ROM to use!!

[Resolved] [Q] Q: what should i buy Hd7 or HD2 or?

Hello everyone;
hope you keeping well, I have HTC Touch Pro in mean time and I wanna replace it, so with what I should replace it, HD7 or Hd2 or HTC Touch Pro2 ? Please help me decide one and why?
Thanks in advanced
You really want WP7 without basic features? For example: No SD Card support, no copy and paste, no default browser selection, no multitasking.
WM6.5 is not supported by Microsoft, so there willn't be any new updates.
Think about alternative platforms Android, Bada OS.
But if you really want Windows, I'd choose HD2.
First of all are you a tmobile customer? Most likely I'd say. But give some more options to choose from. Hd2 and touch pro 2 are both outdated already. Even though hd 7 looks pretty tempting but nah windows phone 7 is still a pretty weak platform. Consider buy a g2 or my touch 4g or vibrant 4g instead. But here of you decide the vibrant make sure it's vibrant 4g not the original one ok?

out of those two id choose the hd7..its much more current hardware wise and it has the newer version of the windows mobile os...also in response to AdmcPL, those features arent available now but they will be released in a major update due out this spring, and even more features will be out in another update later this year
Why not go with the HTC Desire HD?
It's basically the same phone as the HD2, but comes with FroYo
I'd say HD7 is good , but not good enough .. wait and get something like dual core with better screen .. because soon HD2 & HD7 will be last gen. smartphones.
good luck anyway
If you have only these 3 options I'd go for the HD2 without any hesitation (I had one before my Z and had a Touch Pro before that one). You'll be able to flash all kinds of ROMS and install almost every OS on it (Android, WP7 etc.). There's a lot of support for this device.
Touch Pro2: only if you want to keep both a hard keyboard and WM. Otherwise forget it. Too old as already said by a previous poster.
HD7: I really don't like WP7. It looks so boring and ugly. Will there be as much applications and development as for Android or WM? I don't think so but that's just my opinion.
On the other way if you are not against other options I'd suggest you to buy an Android device like the Desire Z or HD as Android is really the best OS. You could install it on the HD2 but IMO the physical buttons are not appropriate and make the user experience less pleasant than with the soft keys on Android devices. I noticed immediately the difference when I switched from my HD2/Android to my Desire Z.
Hope it'll be helpful

I doubt that there is any difference in hardware between HD7 and HD2 except for the kickstand in HD7.
But if anybody would ask me I will tell then to get HD2.
It can run WM6.5, Android and WP7 as good as any other phone.
@all thank u so much guys seriously I'm so greatful , and yes I will go and buy the HD2 today. I'll give my touch pro away I really liked the keyboard on it, guess ill buy external keyboard for the HD2 and for andorid I don't know didn't really use it that much but ill give it a shoot on my next HD2 hehe ... Thank you so so much

[Q] Best prepared phone for Mango

I currently have a Pre 2 which in itself is a fantastic phone has alot of cool things going for it. thing is im a bit of an app geek really didnt release until i went to webOS with limited number of apps.
I am very short on cash and am tied down to a contract for another 20 months after firstly upgrading and selling my phone to get a pre. Now i wanna have a WP7 but i no for a fact i wont be able to afford a new device.
SO question is what current WP7 is best prepared to update to Mango?
Just to let u no i have a hate relationship with Samsung!
Any advice would be appreciated otherwise im sticking with the pre 2 :-(
Any and all. All WP7 phones will be getting the Mango update!
i am aware that alll current windows phone 7 will be getting the mango update but which current device will best suit mango is what i was trying to say.
i am aware that all current wp7 are pretty similar but they are unique in there own individual way
i am tempted by the either the LG Optimus 7 or the HTC Pro 7 both are in my price range. i just wanted some peoples opinions on actually living with the phones and the expectations with Mango coming on and its 500 or so new features.
Also just a quick question someone might be able to tell me... i've read there has been a slow down in the release of apps. Is this due to the Mango update being released soon? Will all current apps be able to work on Mango?
Once again, any and all phones will work great with Mango due to the software being coded for the minimum hardware requirements (which all phones meet or even exceed!)
So just go with what screen size and/or features suit you Personally I wanted an AMOLED screen so I went with a Samsung Omnia 7 as it was cheap as well.
Many developers will wait until Mango is released because Mango will offer more API's so the hardware is better utilised. Current apps will work on Mango AFAIK.
All current devices will be about the same. They are all missing gyroscopes & front facing cameras, so certain mango features won't be enabled across the board with all current devices.
Just pick the one you like the form factor of, screen size ect.
As for which is the best? Its opinionated, but I would get the Samsung. Samsung uses better NAND memory and has a much better screen. Other than that it will perform the same as the HD7.
You will see a large surge in new apps come mango. Developers are waiting till they can submit their new apps with all the abilities and API's opened up to them.

Thanks for your opinion this is what i was after
FFC dont really bother me as i have great desire to use Skype on a phone. Interestingly i am wondering how the gyroscope on the new devices will work?
Also i was wondering what NAND is?
Coming from a Palm Pre 2 i was thinking about the DELL Venue as it has a slide out keyboard. a 4.1" AMOLED screen. Thing is if its anything like other DELL then ill stay clear!
What about the HTC Pro 7? worth a look? i like the fact of having an option to have a physical keyboard though this is not essential.
I've read that the LG Optimus 7 has a few, nice extra features that other phones dont?!
I liked my friends HTC Desire HD but am not a fan of android so im also thinking about the HTC HD7
Choices choices choices. HELP!!!

Hi! I too just came from a Palm Pre 2! What a coincidence. I advise you not to go with Android. I in fact switched from a Motorola Droid to a Pre Plus in September of 2010 and then a Pre 2 in March of 2011. I have since upgraded to an HTC Trophy and I love my phone. I'm on Verizon, so the Trophy was my only WP7 choice. But it wasn't a bad one at all! While Web OS is a gorgeous operating system, I find WP7 more attractive and easier to use at times. The bigger screen and the keyboardlessness is what really tickles my fancy. Anyway, I would have to agree with the above poster and say a Samsung Focus is the best choice. I myself would have chosen one if I could because of the simple black, and sleekness of the device. Also, I became an early adopter of Mango and 7712 is absolutely amazing, you won't regret it! Variety is fun when it comes to smartphones.
Nexus One -> BB Torch -> Omnia 7 -> Pre 2
Above is my History of Smartphones and i'm anti Apple so i'm not getting an iPhone. I had the Omnia 7 in just in time for the NoDo update and i enojyed it but had lusted for a Pre 2 and webOS.
I am in the UK so i am limited to the phones available in the UK with the HTC Trophy, HD7, Pro7, Mozart, LG Optimus 7, and the Dell Venue Pro 7. I don't really want another Omnia 7 as i have already had it.
The only thing i didnt like about the WP7 was the ringtones and alert tones were not change to my own. Has this been sorted now? is this supported officially?
Anyone any experience in UK with an imported HTC Surrond?
Whats the difference between the HTC Pro 7 and the HTC Arrive ?

Internet Connection Sharing

Has anyone seen which WiFi chip is in the Arrive? Is it the one that support ICS? Will this be a feature that's available later or is it a case of needing to get updated hardware in order to get the feature?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-arrive-7-pro/144512-htc-arrive-disassembly.html This is all I've seen and the FCC filing has nothing as well....
Anyone have any luck with these leads? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-arrive-7-pro/142197-tethering-arrive-11.html
It contains the proper chipset
Have you seen this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1279989
this is now the 3rd thread or 4th thread on the subject within the htc 7 pro forums
Hopefully the next DFT ROM with wifi tethering enabled will support the 7 Pro Fingers crossed.
HTC Drivers
Has anyone heard anything further on official HTC supported wifi drivers coming out to support the Wifi Hotspot on the HTC 7 Pro?
I've read on multiple websites that HTC is going to release these for all their current win phone devices. But of course, it's all hearsay until one actually comes out.
If it's up to the cell carrier, I find it hard to believe that US Cell will say "no" as they've never really removed this feature in the past.

i'm using the 7 pro in singapore
if the us/uk carriers really says NO, then i'm afraid i'll be affected
maybe i should just email htc uk and make some noise
I emailed HTC to ask about if an update would be made available to enable the wifi hotspot feature. I just got a reply stating the WP7.5 (mango) does support it but the support guy said HTC were NOT making a driver/update to enable on the 7 Pro. Not to much of a problem since I can use USBmodeswitch to USB tether and hope the DFT version 2 ROM will support the hotspot feature.
From today already exist update for HTC Mozart and HD7 with Internet Sharing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19413277
Anybody (of course with original ROM) got this update on HTC 7 Pro ?
PS
Now I have customROM by Ansar and I can't check that.
No update for HTC 7 Pro, yet (unbranded, Poland).

I tried my luck with the German HTC Support to no avail. They claim only devices shipped with Mango have ICS enabled, and there are no plans for older devices. The latter one is particularly funny as I basically prompted them that they are currentlc rolling out this update for a few devices like Mozart and HD7. I even read on another forum that the Trophy got the ICS update... So why not the 7 Pro??

Yeah this is driving me crazy, if I could get ICS and the damn compass to work I would be happy.
Anyone with the other htc devices able to pick it apart for those of us with the 7pro/arrive?
Received a "HTC Update" last night and ICS is now integrated into system.
HTC Pro sim lock free, branded to O2 Germany.

Great news!
Would you mind getting in touch with Heathcliff74 and see if we can pull this update for his library? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
I can confirm the ICS update is being rolled out. My girlfriend's 7 Pro can now tether...

Question to people who have done this update: what you have SPL number now ?
Sweet to hear, hope we get it for the Sprint Arrive (7Pro) as well.
Hopefully this update will come to all users. My 7Pro (not branded) has it not yet. If Nokia will release a phone with hardware keyboard, I will switch. HTC does not really seem to be interested in its 7Pro Users

Windows Phone on OnePlus One possible?

Hey,
Before I bought my beloved oneplus one I had a couple of devices before. The HTC Sensation, the galaxy nexus (which was.. made be nearly turn my back against android) and as my name may suggest the legendary HD2.
All of them had their quirks etc. but what I really loved about the HD2 was the possibility of switching between Windows Phone and Android.
So today I'd like to ask you about the possibility of seeing a port from Windows Phone 8(.1) to our gorgeous OnePlus One. I know that its a contradiction to the CM philosophy but still.. I never hated Windows phone and I'd like to give it a try without giving up on the Oneplus one.
The M8 and opo qre using a quite similar chipset so.. Chances arent too bad, arent they?

Had you followed the rules you would know that this is not possible on any newer android device. Not only is the bootloaders locked down and would need to be rewritten for WP. The HD2 was also a WM device3 first so the bootloader was made for MS products. But this has been covered already.
