Hi,
I have XT720, i dont know how to use tethernet function in my mobile to connect my mobile to PC for internet access. its 2.1 version.
also can i get upgrade from motorola for this model still now???
If i remember correctly for 2.1 version, the only workable solution is to use "Wireless Tether for Root Users".
Probably porting of the 3g-hotspot (e.g. MyNet.apk) from motoroi froyo can be done, but i don't know if anybody has tried that...
I bet, that you are with the latest update from Motorola

After some searching I found out that it's apparently impossible to root an Android device with Android 2.2.1.
Now I'm in desperate need to install milk's touchscreen lag fix, so I need to root.
So I ask,
Is there a method to root 2.2.1? If not, how does one downgrade to 2.2 and would it cause any problems?

The method to download original 2.2 firmware doesn't work anymore
I have a SE Xperia 10 in the US with android 1.6. I want to upgrade desperately to 2.2,etc. All my research shows that I must root the phone with Z4root. Problem is that At&t won't allow me to install the app because it is not in the Market or was not downloaded from the market.
I then learned that sideloading or debranding were possibly my only options for installing apps such as this. Only issue is that I am on a Mac running 10.5.8 and cannot seem to find any thing to assist in this. I have read about the sideload wonder machine, but I cannot find a download for macs.
Has anyone had to go through all this At&t BS and successfully updated their phone without getting into astro-physics? If so I need your help.
Thanks- TheShamel
I have a Motorola Motoroi XT720 (South Korea) android.
Was running 2.1 and was able to root my phone using the Universal Androot "One-Click" app. Everything worked perfectly.
However, I just upgraded to 2.2 via Motorola's website and I can no longer root my phone.
Any ideas?
Please disregard...I guess Universal Androot doesnt work for my phone on 2.2, but I found a different program to root.
Please close or delete thread.
I recently upgraded my Samsung Intercept to Android 2.2.2 and now Z4Root is not working. I'll assume my carrier has blocked whatever method Z4 was using to get root access. This was by far the easiest and safest method I had found to temporarily root my phone. Am I out of luck or is development still going on for the application? Is there a safe method for rolling back the update to a previous version of android.
how did you upgrade to 2.2 after using z4root on 2.1.
apparently z4root changes some file permanently even after rebooting/unrooting that prevents installing the 2.2 update.
so how can i get 2.2 on my phone now?
lemora
I only used the temporary root for that very reason.
I have a LG-C55 smartphone from Telus running Android 2.2.2.
I want to root the phone and possibly install newer Android firmware on the device. I have done research and have found no information whatsoever.
Thanks in advance

Click to collapse
Install LG USB Drivers
Download SuperOneClick 2.2.3 (google for it)
Run SuperOneCLick with the Auto mode selected
That worked for me. I'm still hunting for a custom ROM, though...
