Lately past couple weeks on my captivate ive been trying out different roms for i9000 and i897 and for some reason market will not download anything. it just says starting download and never finishes, and in the notification bar it shows random apps that i never clicked to download say download unsuccessfull. if i do a hard data reset the market will work for a bit, but then does the same thing again. ive tried using 2 different gmail accounts with no luck.
the weird thing is that i thought i might have messed up some settings in my phone from flashing different roms, but the market works perfectly while running i9000 2.2 froyo jp3 and jpc roms. Ive tried various 2.1 roms, i897 jf6,jh2,jh3,jh7 and i9000 jm6, jm7, jm8 and all of them have the same market stalling.
Has anyone found a fix for this or are having this same problem? its really frustrating, but since 2.2 has a working market then i guess i just have to wait for OTA update captivate to froyo if there is no fix for this.
Are you on Wifi or 3G? I've had this same problem sometimes. For whatever reason it woulnd't download on the specific access point I was connected to, but when I switched to 3G it worked just fine. Other Wifi access points work just fine for me except for that one.
happens to me at home sometimes.. i noticed when the screen blacks out to nap.. and i turn it on.. the download starts
I get the same thing every once in a while. I fix it by going to Settings -> Applications-> Manage Applications, then Filter to show all applications. Scroll down and hit "Download Manager" and in there, hit "Clear Data." That seems to do the trick for me.
Yea it doesnt matter if its on wifi or 3g the download is stuck. Ive tried clearing cache & data on download manager & market with no success. I flashed i9000 jm8 last night on my i897 captivate and the market worked for about 20 mins even tho half of downloads wouldnt finish so i had to restart them...but now the market still is stuck on starting download. I ran i9000 jp3 2.2 yesterday and market worked perfectly, this is weird wtf google?

this happened to me when I moved for JF6 to JH3. I retraced my steps and it turned out that if I loaded my accounts from Titanium backup, I couldn't download apps from the market and it was stuck at starting to download. My suggestion is once you have your phone flashed the way you want it, restore only your apps, system settings, email, sms & mms..... restore your accounts manually.
I manual entering my email accounts, not using titanium backup to back up anything.

Im running auxura 2.2 on my vibrant and everyday about half the time I use the app it either gives me an error code 2 or will pop up ask me to login and once I do it loads and asks me login in again. Sometimes after trying a couple times it works sometimes not. I tried reinstalling. So is anyone else having these issues? Or a way to fix the app?
Anyone else dying to play Words with Friends on you new Inspire but keeps getting the force close everytime you run the app? I tried rebooting and reinstalling this app but to no avail.
Running on stock rom, waiting for my extra microsd card to arrive so I can root and install custom roms.

Same issue here on custom ROM, been happening for a day or so since Words with Friends updated. Extra frustrating is the fact that the app resets itself after FC, forcing me to re-enter account info.
Good to know I'm not the only one. I hope we get an update to fix this issue soon...
Working fine here. I had issues when I did the update without un-installing it first but after I did that everything is good. I'm running CM7 if that matters.
I gave up on words with friends and went back to wordfeud. Hopefully the devs of words with friends will get it straightened out soon.

Aha! I actually tried installing the app again today and it now works. They must have fixed the issue and I'm glad they did.
Words with Friends worked for me on stock ROM since day 1. The first day I rooted and flashed Anrdoid Revolution, I installed Words with Friends and it worked fine. I've seen 1 FC from the app since I've had the phone, but all I had to do was restart the app and it loaded right back to my games
It worked for me for a little while but now it pops up with some wierd web address
Have you tried rebooting and/or installing the app?

If you are using Android Revolution(or some other custom ROMs), the hosts file blocks the ads in the app. Either revert to a non-adblocking hosts file or a different ROM.
they just had an update, uninstall words and redownload. i havnt had a fc since then. good luck
even on the latest version, I can't even play! Just force closes when I log in!
Judging by the stack trace I think something in the logon was breaking it. I saw in the stack trace that the app was trying to parse a null value as an integer, which isn't so cool.
I just set up for a packet capture -- but I'm now able to log in again and the game is working fine. Hopefully they don't break their login protocol again, and ideally they make the app a little more robust if the server sends back unexpected data.
I was also getting tons of FC's on custom roms until i ran a fix permissions in CMR. Now it works perfectly
So what do you guys suggest for those who are using unrooted, stock ROMs? Any suggestions?
I go into the apps settings and clear the cache and force close it.. this usually makes it reload the game data which takes a few min, but it works again for me for a while. I do need to tweak the hosts file blocking ads. It causes huge broken ads that make the game unplayable at times.
Yeah when wwf starts acting up again and comes up with a force close (or any bug at all!) all the time, clear your cache and data and try again. Reboot in between if you have to. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling again. Sometimes you just need to reboot to fix the issue is what I found out based on my phone. Hope this helps!
Just did a complete wipe and installed the latest Emancipation release this morning.
When my text messages are a certain length, the sms message fails to send.
When I try to download dialers or themes using the OTA, the downloads are unsuccessful.
Did the lock screen option menu get moved somewhere else from the first release because I dont see it.
Im just wondering if I need to add another APN?

hmmm... i've been cruising the Eman thread all day and no one else seems to have these issues. My first guess would be possible bad download and/or flash. Did u try to flash again?

What length SMS seems to cause an issue? I have not seen any issues with SMS so far, but granted my messages are generally pretty short anyway.
When you try and download the dialers or themes are you using the stock browser? I think there is a known issue with that. Nun had said "Q. I try to download from the ota and I always get "download unsucessful. How do I fix this?
A. Many have stated that trying a browser other than stock will help...Opera, Dolphin, etc should work. If you prefer to use stock...try this: Download Astro File Explorer, open preferences, and scroll to the bottom and select "enable browser downloads"...then ownload like a good boy should!"
I followed his suggestion and had no more troubles trying to download the OTA stuff.
Lock screen stuff is in display settings. Don't remember where it was on the previous build.
Thank you for the info, you pretty much answered all my questions. I had a brain fart on the lock screen- it was under display. I thought it was in the Emancipation OTA previously.
As far as the text messaging, I cant put a finger on the length because sometimes it works... Not sure whats up with that. But I do know that usually long texts do fail and they will go through if i try to resend them a few times...
What browser do you recommend? Is there an agreed upon one that everyone uses?

I just use the stock browser. I loaded the Astro File Explorer and everything worked fine.
I know there are better browsers out there but the audio book service I use only works the stock browser and Firefox. I have tried it with Firefox, but it just works better with the stock browser. My commute is about 80 minutes each way; so I would go crazy without my audio books.
I have always used the app "Download All Files" its a super light app that works with all files in any app or browser and then I can just use the stock browser

I'm having a problem sending and recieving MMS, which I had once before ever flashing my infuse. APN settings got changed somehow (probably me). Reset the APN and it was fixed. Problem crept again after flashing Emancipation. Under the available APN types the list I'm given only has:
Internet+MMS
Internet
MMS
I think I'm needing an "supl" option. Am I missing that due to a bad flash and need to redo it. Or is it simply not available o Emanc and need to try a ROM i can edit the APN by typing like CM7?

Its official, both my Infuse and my wifes cannot send long text messages. We have to cut them in half for whatever reason. Any ideas?
Also my data is ridiculously slow. Youtube videos are taking upwards of an hour to load on both phones too. This wasnt a problem on Zeus and I was wondering if there are something I should look into? Thanks!
I have the same issue also can't send/receive pics to my ended phone started when I flashed this ROM. Worked great in last.

I can't seem to send long texts or send or receive pix with my wife. she's the only person I send pix to. And she never gets them. And when I get one from her I can see the message info but never get the picture.

What modem are you using? I had a similar issue running another ROM. I flashed UCLB3 and it resolved the issue.

Emancipation OTA Problem
Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for the awesome community and work that goes on here at XDA. I've been reading through all the forums the last several weeks and learned so much about my new phone (Samsung Infuse 4G). Through all the tutorials, Q&As etc. I have successfully flashed my firmware three different times. Started out with Zeus v6, Aeon and now I'm finally settled on Emancipation1 with the Dark Blue theme. I really like this ROM.
Now my problem/question. For the ROM flash and Dark Blue theme flash I just downloaded the files to my PC and moved them over to the phone. Everything at that point was fine. Everything on my phone works great except for the Emancipation OTA. It worked the first time immediately after the flash (just checking it out), however now whenever I try to use the Emanicaption OTA I get an error on my phone screen that says "Sorry - The application Settings (process.com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. - Force close)
I've tried with wi-fi enabled and disabled. My stock browser works fine and I went ahead and installed Astro File Manager Explorer. I also booted the phone into Recovery Mode and wiped the cache and Davlik cache.
Any ideas on what might be wrong or causing my inability to use the Emancipation OTA? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, the only known solutions when that consistently pops up is a reflash. Something did not take right or is interferring with that working properly. Back it up and reflash.

Does anyone know if the themes and other content available through the EmancipationOTA is available for direct download (say from the server to a PC so it can then be moved to the phone the old fashioned way?)
Nope. All themes go though the OTA.
Searched this forum and couldn't really find anything, so here goes..
Over the past month or so i've been having non stop issues with skype, to name a few:
- Can't sign in.
- Contacts status won't update.
- IMs won't go through.
And the list continues...
Over the past 2 weeks though, I can't even sign in, skype will just hang on the sign in screen until i force close it.
Tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times, no luck, sometimes it will sign in followed by a random sign out.
When it does sign in, I can't make calls or send IM's anyway.
Using CleanRom 2 (didn't have a chance to upgrade to the latest one).
I'll note that skype is working just fine on my gf's RAZR M.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Have you cleared app data? Even uninstalling and reinstalling leaves the data.

Ok, so i had some time to mess with this today.
At first i was planning to try flashing another rom just to test, then decided to just flash the newest modem version (G7) - that did the trick.
Skype seems to be back to normal now, some minor glitches but i believe that's already skype being... skype.
