I'm using victory_8G_100528.pit
You don't need the pit with the tar file.

This is a full Odin .tar -- no pit file needed.
Question: I had DK17 with Quantum ROM 1.5...I just flashed the .tar in Odin. No PIT file. I also unchecked F.Reset Time (I think thats what it said). I flashed correctly, right? I have 100% stock DK28 now, correct.
Also, is this the official Froyo build?
Everything seems to be working correctly. Rotation is still a tad slow though. Lock screen lag is 100% gone.

That's because the mods took it down, then put it back up again.
Man, what a mess. Mine's still in "quarantine" for some reason. Ah well, guess it's good to have at least one thread that's working!

I'm less annoyed now I guess since people have already posted rooted versions etc. As long as the stuff gets to the users, in the end I'm happy. I'm giving up on getting a response from the mod, I think - this here is turning into a good thread so let's go with it.

Sorry guys, didn't seen any other thread with the .tar (because it was deleted I guess). Got mine from a source and posted it. Didn't know anyone else posted it. This one is a little different anyway, because it doesn't require the victory .pit to work.
OP can you please remind the users that they will BREAK ROOT and recovery if they flash this.... They will also not be able to install Themes........
Thank you

I will add that, but users can always root again with one click.
It's ok - theres always silly drama around release time so mine must have already been hidden. Keep this going!

This will erase data, root, and CWM. Your phone will be stock DK28 if you flash this.
Okay, I had soft-bricked my phone and recovery was not working, so, after a few minutes of tech time with T-Mo they shipped me a new phone.
Even though i called them to cancel the shipment when I managed to get Odin working and get the phone back up...
Long story short - the brand spankin' new device just landed on my desk updating stock apps as I type.
KB5 stock.
Is there anyway to back this up as is before I add CWM? Can I somehow dump it with Odin? I still have not played with Odin enough to know this....
I'd like to preserve the stock rom if it all possible, for 'just in case'
You could pull ur /system/app thru adb or you could use titanium backup.

That I can do, I meant something similar to a nand, the whole system backed up.
Thought it might come in handy... no worries though, grabbing the Kd1 update then I'll root/cwm and nand that... just figured since I had a virgin phone I'd back it up if I could.

Fek, sorry guys, I just got done grabbing the Kies KD1 - literally right before I rad this it finished installing.
I haven't flashed anything, this is still just the stock phone, with the T-Mo/Samsung ROM, upgaded, but not with any custom roms, on it if that will do it, I'll hold off rooting, etc until I can get the sbl and boot pulled if these will still work?

Wow since 2007 you actually tired 5 to 6 ROMs? And they look to kiddie for you....wow Did you by chance look in the Development section?
hahaha member since 2007, only used the forums for the past year or so when I got my infuse4g.
a lot of Rom's are so DARK, they're dark and evil looking lol
All I want is a fast rom with great battery life and a light theme.
Which file is right?
So I searched around and found this thread while looking for the community kernel (old I know). But when I'm flashing this kernel, which of the files am I supposed to choose? I see a cert.sf, cert.rsa, manifest.mf, update-binary, updater-script, and then in the other folder a redbend_ua, and zImage...I'm kind of new to this Thanks for the help!
EDIT: I managed to figure out it was the zImage file. But my problem is that when I try to flash that, it takes a little while before it just tells me it failed to verify kernel (something along those lines) and then it doesn't flash it. Am I doing something brutally wrong? I already have CWM installed as per the video linked by the "Super Everything" thread on XDA. Could somebody maybe re-upload this kernel please?
Also, if I were to flash a different ROM, like say Serendipity VII, then do I still need to flash a kernel before hand? Or can I just download the ROM to my sdcard and install it with CWM? Thanks for the help!

I ran Serendipity as my first ROM, and ran it on my cappy also, to include my boys cappys
http://serendipityinfuse.weebly.com/index.html
Just follow the instructions on the above.
But if you want to try another ROM, you will have to go back to stock, well I had but I do on a regular bases...use this below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
Do not unzip the PDA_Community_Voodoo_Kernel_v8.tar.md5 file. Use Odin and because the file name starts with PDA, load it in the PDA slot and flash.
Bigjoe: So just to confirm, I can go straight from UCKH1 with cwm and rom manager and NO community kernel flashed to serendipity? All I have to do is put the file onto my phone and boot into CWM(mine usually goes into blue then I click reinstall packages and then it goes to green) and then wipe data and cache and then install the file from my sdcard? He isn't very clear in his instructions when he says just flash the rom as one step haha
Also, on the original topic, the file that was uploaded on minus at the to of this thread isn't a PDA tar file. It's the community kernel zip. So I was trying to flash it with sgs kernel flasher. Is that wrong?

lol... that root thread, kinda classic. Just wondering how long before it re-manifests itself.
Here is the zip file to apply to the 2.3.5 fxz, to make RSDlite flash the FXZ files properly, from the ICS leak. The steps are the same as they were for the 2.3.6 fix. Just unzip these files over top of the original fxz files.
+++++++++++++++++++++++NOTE++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have pulled these files, so that no else attempts to flash the fxz and brick thier phone. DO NOT ASK FOR THE FILES, I will not give them out knowing what happens to those on ICS that try to fxz back to GB.

LOL... You forget I had to think of several ways to possibly break this before I posted it for the rest of the world, so if there were issues, I knew what to do... How do you think I was able to flash that whole process 4 times... I built this yesterday afternoon, before I even started the process of testing the OTA out. I HAD to make sure we could flash back, so we were not like the OG Atrix guys, who can't flash an SBF now.

the first time it would not boot, because the lbl file and the mbm were not loaded, and it is critical in this move back.... they have done something to the BL, to make flashing a little harder. I did a hex dump and a decompile of the new mbm file and it has a spot in it that looks like a check for correct lbl file being loaded from the fastboot flash.
The issue with the recovery is because it flashes a new recovery, and that was on the second time I had to flash the fxz, due to a bad root...

Did you use my patch to patch the 2.3.5 fxz for the ICS leak that I posted yesterday?
I am thinking the secret is using a script and not RSDlite. That is how I always restore my phone is with my own scripts, that I was getting ready to release before all this started.

Yea, that probably isn't going to work. You'd need to hack up a working ramdisk (assuming b2g doesn't create one for you) from like the gnex or something.

Ok I messed around with this for my last device the HTC Sensation. I noticed that the OP cpu999 said he thought it was something in the ramdisk. I know you may be following these instructions already. But have you rebuilt the boot.img per the instructions here. Also I this is my first Samsung device so I have a lot to learn about working with them so if I made any errors in this post please over look them.
