WiiMote works too

How about xbox 360?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium

The Wiimote and XBox 360 are both bluetooth? Are there apps for emulators that need to be installed for them to work?

There is an app called Wiimote Controller (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ccpcreations.android.WiiUseAndroid&hl=en) that can be used to establish a connection to the Wiimote over bluetooth and add an Input Method that puts out the Wiimote button presses which can then be assinged in certain emulators... However this method might be problematic with games in general that don't have customisable controls...

Thanks for that tip!

I'm pretty sure 360 remotes are not Bluetooth based.

Noted. I've never used an xBox controller, but I am familiar with the PS3 game pads -plus, I think the layout and feel is way better... but that's just my opinion!

Do I need a Bluetooth dongle for Wiimote, or how is the setup?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium

Wiimotes use Bluetooth for the buttons and pad. The the "attitude" of the controller is reported that way too. The actual positioning is via infrared...though interestingly enough, the sensor is in the remote, and the LEDs are in the "sensor bar" and that is reported back by Bluetooth as well.
Oh, right. Do you need a dongle. Nope, shouldn't. Haven't tried it myself though.

Edit: Whoops, meant to make it clear that this is an "as far as I can remember" thing...its been a while since I looked at it!

Yes, that's exactly how it works and you do NOT need any additional hardware. The app I linked to earlier has some simple and straightforward instructions that you can't miss, simply put the wiimote into "connect-mode" by pressing 1&2 simultaneously and then let the app search for it.

Xoom Controller Q's

I know there is that thread for the Xbox controller, but how about ps3, can that connect wirelessly? Or even with the cord? Is the only thing I need to get this working is a USB OTG deal?
Also what games are you guys using with these controllers, I know a lot of people are using emulators, but what apps are you using to get them and the ROMs? Also besides emulators, what other games are working well with controllers?

Yea man this is pretty sweet. You just have to map the keys correctly and it works flawlessly. I like the feeling of the ps3 controller more than my xbox 360 controller.

Do you map it through android settings or what? I had a wiimote hooked up when i got the Xoom, but pretty much just to test it. I wasn't ver thrilled. But for that there was an app since it was wireless.

I was curious about this too. The 3.1 update comes with the additional keylayout files for the controllers and their mappings (there's even one for a logitech racing wheel) so would you really NEED to remap them?

He must be talking about remapping in the emulators themselves. The 3.1 update, even if it does have full profiles for the various compatible controllers, will only map keys in the OS itself. Programs that support the profiles will work automatically, or that happen to use the same keys i.e. just because the triangle button on the dualshock is mapped to "g" doesn't mean that SNESoid automatically maps the y button to g. This is what I would expect the case to be, anyway

Sixaxis Compatibility App

Did anyone try this on their rooted SR yet. I'm new to rooting so I would like to get more info before I root it. It would be nice to know if the Bluetooth controller is compatible on our device.
Thanks

Its not working for me, but this is my first Android phone so its very possible the issue is user error.
no it doesnt work.. the dev for sixaxis got it working for the galaxy s II but i guess the bluetooth stack in the skyrocket is different from the standard galaxy SII so it doesnt work for us.
Yep, I couldn't get it to work on mine either. Oh would be nice to have that controller though.. Uggh..
The ps3 controllers now works. The phonejoy controllers also works.

You can use your PS3 controller (if you have one). You will need root in order to do this. Just go into the market and get the app called Sixaxis Controller and just follow the instructions in the app description to set up your controller. I have done this and it works, I play ShadowGun THD with my ps3 controller
I have also heard of people saying that wiimotes work too.

AFAIK the only way to get the PS3 controller without rooting is connecting it through an usb adapter to the tablet. With what company do you have your accidental damage warranty?

Lolz, I guess you should contact them and ask if rooting voids the warranty. If it ever gets bricked you can just pour some coffee on it and say it was an accident
I highly recommend the PS3 controller too. Not only is the DualShock 3/Sixaxis controller very good (I've always liked Sony's controller layout) in and of itself, the driver/app is surprisingly polished.
On top of direct controller usage, you can also emulate keyboard and mouse and go as far as emulating touch presses on the screen for games that support nothing else. Made Galaxy on Fire 2 playable for me (hate virtual joysticks).

Does it exist? App to use Xperia Play controls on tablet.

Is there an app that will allow you to use the Xperia Play physical gamepad on other Android devices like a tablet?
I've seen a lot of remote control apps but they are only for controlling using buttons on the touchscreen.
It would be best if it didn't require root.
Check a post of that in this section

It puts Xplay controls on the screen of the phone, so if your tablet has a game that supports Xperia Play you can use that. As of now it doesn't map the physical controller inputs.

Doesn't droidmote server work? It needs root and isn't free but surely if it doesn't work you could get a quick refund? i don't have root and i'm still looking. Tablet remote seems to be the best so far. If only the developer updated it to make it work with the physical buttons...

[HELP] Gamepad right analog on android devices

hello everyone,
i'm new to xda , i have a problem with my gamepad with 2 analog sticks (playstation like controller), i have a galaxy S2 with supernexus rom 4.1, and a galaxy tab 2 7.0 also with OTA firmware 4.1 .
the gamepad works great expect for the right analog stick (camera control in dead trigger or even shadowgun ), left is switched with up, and right with down , and this with both devices , is there any way to change the mapping i've been looking around the net and found nothing , i would really appreciate your help , thanks in advance

thanks for your quick reply , there isn't any way to change the mapping for the camera in these games, i can only map fire/use buttons if you see what i mean thanks
Probably but it would have to be implemented by the devs of the game which wouldn't happen
