Bottom region of screen doesn't work sometimes, software or hardware? - HTC One S

Sometimes the spacebar/v and launcher area doesn't respond/have to press really hard to work until I reboot my phone. Is this a software problem or a hardware problem?

Try to do factory reset, and see if its gonna solve the issue. If not It might be defective digitizer. So you should Go and get replacement phone.

I get this too sometimes, like the b/n region of the keyboard won't register presses. If I lock and unlock the screen it starts working again. I'm on leedroid and it does it in that and any other rom I've been on before so a factory reset doesn't seem to fix it.

Yeah the factory reset isn't helping

The only time this happens to me is when I'm using portrait keyboard. As soon as I close keyboard n press on screen its registers... I have yet to have this happen to me on any app or homescreen.

I noticed this too but didnt think much of it at the time.
Dont think it is hardware though....
I was trying to open a folder in the HTC launcher but it wouldnt recognize the taps.
But it did let me move the folder onto screen using long press and hold.
So digitizer is fine (in my case anyway)

I was using swiftkey and noticed that the video button stopped working properly and I. Had to press really hard on it to work. Same problem with launcher. I'm still not convinced that it's a software issue alone. This is my 3rd one s and none of my other ones had this problem

T-Mobile Sensation 4G screenshot bug

So I found a bug where in I was able to take screenshots when pressing the home button. But it would happen everytime I pressed the home button so I kept taking screenshots all the time. This happened when I just sent a message on Gtalk, the keyboard was still active and pressed home and it said something along the lines of screenshot saved. The only way to stop this was to turn it off then on, but the first try to press the power down button, it did not want to turn the screen off.
Anyway, just letting the crowd know out there what they could expect. Seems more bugs that I've personally come across than before the update.
This is annoying the hell out of me!
Since the update I did earlier this has happened numerous times and the only way out of it is pressing the arrow key.
It goes back to normal after a few minutes then acts up again...
VERY odd.
Just checked out some other forums. This seems to be a pretty common error. The update did provide the ability to take a screen shot by holding the power button and hitting the home key.

Mine was doing the same, hitting power made it stop.
Hi there. Im from Russia and I had this bug for a several times too. I have original non-operator version of Sensation 3g, so I don't think the reason is your operator or 4g ability.
Freaking hate this bug!

Mine only does it when I use gtalk with sound or video. Other than that it never happens. To get rid of it I have to restart the device.

If interested, there is a temporary workaround if you are rooted.
That is, edit your build.prop file (/system/build.prop) with terminal or file explorer with root privileges and look for the line "ro.htc.framework.screencapture = true".
Either comment this line ("#") or change "true" to "false" then save build.prop and reboot twice.
THIS WILL DISABLE BUILT-IN SCREEN SHOOTS!! But it will also get rid of this bug.
Now go grab an app from Market if you need to take screen shoots, but don't like this bug.

I have this bug too and it's VERY annoying. I would rather HTC fix it than me having to disable a function of the phone!
I have the same problem!
Also the power button doesn't always turn the screen off and vice versa, it doesn't always turn it on. The screen comes on by itself at random times and sometimes when you press the power button, the screen turns off but then back on by itself.

I've not rooted unfortunately
Has anyone heard more on this? My girlfriend's phone is doing it and she's afraid of voiding her warranty by rooting it.
Is there a way to stop this bug without the rooting of the phone ?
Mine just did this for the first time today. I didn't even know the Sensation was capable of taking screenshots until the home button just randomly started snapping them today. That was annoying.

[Q]Touchscreen sometimes stops working

I have a T-Mobile myTouch 4g Slide and The touchscreen sometimes doesn't work, I've noticed it happens more often when my battery is low and that it'll be working fine but when I use the phyical keyboard it won't work after that until I charge it up and restart it many times. There is a crack on the front so would replacing the digitalizer fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
I wouldn't think replacing the digitizer would help being it stops working intermittently otherwise it wouldn't work all the time. If it only does it when the battery is low then check your settings to see what is turned off if you have a battery saver mode. Easiest thing to do in my opinion is wipe the phone. That usually fixes this (I have even seen it fix physical buttons not working as well)

My entire screen never stops working, but sometimes when I'm touch typing, certain keys will refuse to register.
I don't know if that's a problem with my screen, or a problem with the keyboard app I use (Swiftkey X)

Keyboard?
Wanting to buy a MTG4 slide for my wife. Does the phone have an on screen virtual keyboard along with the actual slide keyboard?:

Yes, and there are many on the market if she prefers others then the HTC "Touch Input" and Swype that come pre-installed on the phone.

Phone is becoming unresponsive about 15-20 minutes after reboot

Hello,
Hard reset, factory. My one x is becoming unresponsive and sluggish, usually about 20 minutes after a reboot. I have nothing on this phone. we're just using the web browser, and touches don't register. I thought that it may be a screen defect, and it still may well be. But it seems odd to me that after a fresh reboot, or by turning off the phone and letting it "chill out" the phone becomes responsive again.
Basically how do I tell if this is a hardware defect or a software defect? I am locked, running at&t 1.85 stock. I have tried the hardware tests and of course everything passes.
Thanks
Did you try the ruu yet and if it still happens probably the digitizer or whatever has a defect

Do you have fastboot enabled still? I don't think you'll get true, full reboot if it is. You've not down loaded any apps or anything? Was it doing this since you bought the phone or did it start occurring just out of the blue? I'm assuming your not rooted or anything, right?
It's a rather odd issue that I've never heard of before.

To find out if the touchscreen is registering touches, do this when it starts becoming sluggish:
Go to settings -> developer options -> pointer location
See if whenever you touch the phone it overlays a blue line.

The "Fast boot" option in Setting/Power only apply to powering off, than on again. Holding down the power button, then selecting Restart will give you a true reboot, even with fast boot enabled.

Thanks alot. I am still investigating this. I thought that I did not have any third party apps installed, but it looks like the culprit may be Virtua Tennis.
I have found that some Android apps even after closed or reboot still take control of certain aspects of the phone. The pin ball games do it. Its not until I delete them does it stop.

Touchscreen a little wonky on Sense Viperxl3.2.8

Just wondering if any of you guys are getting the same prob as me where the screen doesn't seem as responsive. As in when scrolling thru apps. Sometimes after scrolling, it will register the last touch point as a click. Also. When typing in whatsapp I can't seem to be able to press the send button without closing the keyboard. The touchscreen seems to be registering the touch points somewhat lower or higher than where I'm pressing. Thanks for any replies!! Even right now I have problems pressing the submit button without closing the keyboard :/

Did it start hapenning right away? Are you using stock kernel? What hboot are you on?
Nope! Have been using viper for about 3 plus months now. Since 3.2.4 I've been using those ota updates and haven't really done much. I'm running elementalX 6.5. and I downgraded the touchscreen firmware so that if I wanted to play ard with aosp I could. Am on 2.14 hboot
Try upgrading touch firmware back? That would probably be the easiest thing to try first.

Next thing to do is a clean flash. I'm sure that will work, I don't see any way to avoid it.

Stuck on landscape

My phone stays in landscape since yesterday... I've searched the web but no solutions :-\ some say hardware, some say software.
Opening a vertical app rotates the screen, but when I leave it I go back to landscape..
Any idea? Don't want to to reset to fast or bring him to service.
Stock rom
There was a thread similar to yours a few days or weeks back. You may want to take a look at it, if you haven't already.
i've read soms topics on One S and One X... No solution found.
I had contact with HTC Holland and they told me to put the phone in Safe Mode (didnt even know this excisted - Reboot phone and press Vol down when the screen lights up not earlier or you go in fastboot) to see if its a HTC problem or third party app (because you cant use third party apps). In safe mode I didnt have the problem but when I returned to normal mode I have portrait view too. Strange thing
1 thing is still changed: even lockscreen goes landscape.. This is not normal I think? Can anyone confirm?
I wiped android secure in twrp and it fixed the landscape problem for me
