Stereo speakers missing...why....? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone explain why was problem add stereo speakers.Sound quality of one speaker is good, but I find quite annoying have sound just from one side...

I suspect its because of the dock.
The two stereo speakers on the iconia a510 for example fire downward from the bottom edge of the tablet. If Asus put them there, they would be blocked when the tablet is in the dock.
Putting them on the front or sides would seem an option, but wasn't there some sort of patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung for stealing the iPads design, and wasn't speaker placement part of that. Asus may be afraid of using front or side positioning for fear of some sort of patent infringement.
So I guess the single speaker is a trade-off for the dock. Incidently, I have an iconia a510 as well and the speakers are very good. Loud enough to actually hear a movie, and there is some actual stereo separation to the sound.
Of course, I can't put my iconia into a keyboard dock, so you have to take the good with the bad i guess.
Here's a suggestion for Asus for the TF Infinity or its successor : Put a couple of good stereo speakers into dock itself ! At least then you would have the option of using them when watching a movie. Motorola actually offered a multimedia dock for the XOOM which had its own, powered built in speaker. A multimedia dock for the TF tablets would be great, not everyone wants a keyboard all the time.

The single speaker and placement is horrendous. Probably a cost saving measure. I like the placement they are using on the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

The Transformer Pad 300 HAS stereo speakers, but they are beside each other! Just like in the prime.. Anyway, the speakers are GREAT! They are really loud, have really good bass (for a tab), and I think it's the 2nd best! Behind Iconia Tab A510.

I don't mind the speaker(-s) either.
I use a leather case that can let the pad stand up. The design is such that the sound is reflected by the back pane of the case. And quite frankly that "boosts" the speakersound.
When I want a big sound, I simply connect it to my 40inch Samsung TV that redirects the sound to my reciever. Not a bad way of watching a movie
Then again, expecting a tablet (or even a laptop) to have great audio, that's a bit silly isn't it?
And stereo sound? When speakers are placed that close together? Come on! Use a headphone instead.

If overall loudness is a problem, try using the Loudness boost option in Dice Player.
Helps a lot with the Asus speakers, can hear movie dialog a lot better with it on.

YES----TF300 and TF 201 have stereo speakers, but on the same spot... Sound is good anyway..

I looked into external speakers like the "Music Bullet" or a pair of "Volcano Mini Speakers", but they just seemed too unwieldy to lug around. The only plus was they run off USB/rechargeable Batteries. I just go with earbuds.

Sound is good enough for me for such mobile device but if want listening a music I use Bluetooth receiver connected to my AV receiver .not that bad and no cable

Yea. There are definitely two. Ive had previous TF300's apart.

I think that the sound is good,it is lound...but sometimes I just don't like when the sound is coming just from one side when I play games or watch some videos...

How many speakers on the Asus Slider??

Question as above. I just got a Slider and really like it, however t was to replace my touchpad whose speakers are fantastic. The Slider has two speaker grilles but it sounds like only the right side is working. I thought the innards were the same as the Tranformer (2 speakers?) however the Asus website says "High Quality speaker". What is right and is there anyway to improve sound?
Any opinon on whether great functionality etc is worth keeping over good speaker sound is welcome.
Thanks very much

dac/sound quality ?

I've done a bit of searching but hvaen't been able to find much info. Does the tf700 have a decent dac (i know the speakers are said to be weak; but how about audio out to headphones/iem ) ?
Should it be on par/worse/better than the tf101 ? Hum. Actually i don't even know if the dac is built into the tegra 3 line or if asus picks the chip.

My infinity wont be here until tomorrow but I did some tests with my TF201 before I sold it and it sounded just fine. Just as good, if not better than my mac mini HTPC. I was using power amp and 320K MP3's to a good ONKYO amp and JBL speakers....
Got my. 700 today. Really a slick tab overall, but the speaker is terrible, especialy coming from the a700. At least i get smooth playback now. Too quiet and tinny to even consider close to functional, definately requires an audio out of somesort.
Edit suppose i should mention im already using equalizer to boost it.

First of all, I'm not an audiophile person.
Just testing now playing flac from built in music player on Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm.
On full volume on the tf700 it is loud enuf, but it seems to my untrained ear that it cant really drive the headset to the max on the bass side.
Hmm. Just did a side-by-side comparison with my computer (using some 3-4 years old logitech 2.1 setup) and the bass seems better on the infinity then on my computer. A richer sound. And it drives the headset generally better. I'm really suprised by that actually.. Maybe time to by a DAC for my computer I guess.
Actually, the DAC is a basic one and, as on every "mainstream" hardware, it lacks a lot of bass (I tried it through custom in-ears). However, what really made me throw the idea of using it as a true nomad player is the constant background noise that is especially strong (as on every phone). I don't know how to name this phenomenon in English (in French it is called "souffle", meaning blow or whistle) but it really ruins the experience on sensitive in-ears (and especially with quiet music).
Bottom line : it's better than a phone, (and even most MP3 players) but it is not made to drive high-end monitors.
What I would love to see, and I will try to give it a look, is the ability to use an USB DAC on this tablet. After all, it shouldn't be impossible (especially if we get another OS to run on it).
Ok. I ended up picking one of these. I have a tf101 to compare. The tf101 speakers are a lot louder (this surprise me as the tf101 is already a bit soft); with my iem (a161) the tf101 gets marginally louder (I think) but the tf700 is clearer more concise. I did not try any sort of equilizer or other widget that might adjust the sound quality. The media is very high audio. I forget the bit rate but it is excessively high track from blu-ray.

For audio via USB, you will have to wait for the Jelly Bean update as it was one of the major feature that was added to it. ICS does not support audio out via USB.
Nice! I ordered Ann Asus Xonar Essence One just ten minutes before reading this. :-D

JB/USB Audio is one of the reasons I got Nexus 7. Now just waiting for the micro USB OTG cable to arrive so that I can test it out with Fio E17.

Oh! That's a great news... but still it is a big question if my external USB dac (Arcam rDAC) will "understand" Android system... manufacturer of DAC has to release drivers for Android ...I guess???
Talking about TF700's volume level... it is far lower than most of other android/iOS devices I've heard (TF101, iPad 2, HTC desire, samsung galaxy s2...)... ...it makes me fuzzy a bit.
Yes the external speakers are the worse ever; shame on asus. Using IEM's max volume is nearly same as tf101 but mine has low impedance. Were you talking about the use of IEM/headphones or the external speaker.

WTH is wrong with Asus. Why can't they put decent speakers on a "high end" device?
I agree that the rear facing speaker is unfortunate. I certainly had issues with getting the proper sound from it and covering the speaker with my hand. I also had it completely stop working until I rebooted.
I've spent the last hour or so streaming music on a fairly slow wifi connection via Play Music and DI Radio to my LG BT headset. Overall I've found the sound quality to be an improvement from my SGS2 but I do notice the very occasional and small skip or missed note. I'm not sure if this is an issue with my wifi being slow or my headset. I guess I'll keep on eye on this over the weekend and see how the sound performance is on a different headset and jambox w/ fast wifi or locally stored music.
With other laptops that I have I use the USB connections through a Dragonfly DAC to bypass to bypass their internal DAC's which are generally not very good. The Asus sound to a decent amp is not good (no resolution or detail in the upper midrange and above using either the earphone jack or USB with the external DAC). The only answer, it seems, is to use another computer for music, which I now do.
I've been using a fifo 10 (usb dac) with my computer but to be honest since sandy bridge most dacs on computers are decent enough. As for this tablet sold it a long time ago - i have a 12 inch samsung pro but it is now dated and looking for a new 12 inch tablet but no one makes a decent one. 10 inch doesn't work for myself. Either I want 8 inch for around the house or 12 inch for travel.

Sound from one speaker?

In watching netflix and listening to sample mp3s, I'm only getting sound out of the right side speaker. Anyone else have this issue?
\\Tapatalk\Infinity\\
I think we all have that problem.
(there is only speakers on the the right to side.)
Don't worry, the hardware is like that! That being said, I was impressed by the sound quality of this small speaker, but the same on the left side would have be nice...

Yeah, I discovered later as I was looking for the speakers that there is only the one grill. I have to say that is probably the most disappointing feature of this tablet. However, It's not THAT big a deal that I'll return it, but I think it will be a must for the next one. I know I've seen a lot of people state that it's a ridiculous setup, and to some extent I agree. It really does make things difficult when watching something with Netflix when the volume level of the show is lower than most (such as Star Trek Voyager, which I'm currently watching)

Which Bluetooth Stereo over the ear headset works with TF700

Can anyone recommend a over the ear bluetooth stereo headset that will work with the Asus TF700. I have a LG HBS700 that appears to pair with the Asus but there is no sound. I would prefer bluetooth to one that plugs in.
I use the KINIVO BTH220 and they work and sound great.

I use Rocketfish HD Stereo Bluetooth Headphones (RF-MAB2) and it sounds exceptionally well. The battery life is very good too. It has a built-in microphone so can be used with the cellphone too.
I forgot to ask. How well do either of these headsets work when wearing glasses?
http://www.amazon.com/Jabra-SPORT-B...064913&sr=1-1&keywords=jabra+sport+headphones
I use the Jabra Sport headphones with my TF700, and they are great. I do have problems with them when jogging with my phone sometimes (connectivity problems), but for watching movies / playing games with my tablet indoors, they are flawless, and accomodate glasses with no problem.
Update to the OP: on another thread some suggested I use PowerAmp app. It worked. I can now pair my LG HBS 700 to my Asus TF700.
I own the LG HBS 700s and have no problem connecting them to the Infinity, but I am dealing with significant Bluetooth audio lag. BS Player features an audio offset. Has anyone figured out an offset number that is ideal for the Infinity.
My wireless Beats by Dre works just awesome!!!
I also have the LG HBS 700's and have no issues using them with my Infinity
Sennheiser MM 550 Travel are also working without any flaws. The navigation buttons on the side of the headset are able to start/stop, forward/back. Just like its designed to be.
Motorola S10-HD works perfect for me! Absolutely love mine! Sounds is excellent and so is the fit and feel, even after hours of wearing it. Sounds quality is surprisingly good too. I say surprisingly because I didn't even know it was capable of handling calls when I purchased, I didn't do my research, which is very unlike me. I'm usually borderline OCD about researching products before I purchase. Callers have no idea I'm even using a bluetooth headset, which I can't say for other headsets that I have (Jawbone and Plantronics).

External Bluetooth speakers ?

I'd like to use my device to play music on (good) external speakers.
I need to mount it on a wall, and it must have an active adapter.
Does someone have experience in this ?

I picked up a Soundfreq for cheap on fleeBay based on this review and love it. http://gizmodo.com/5925112/the-best-100-bluetooth-speaker
I have a Sony SBH20 which connects to my TF700 and allows me to stream music from my tablet/phone to the headphones.
You could use this receiver plugged into a hifi system (separates or whatever) via the 3.5mm output plug? Would that do the job?
Urge Basic Sound Brick, got it on Groupon, best $40 bluetooth rechargeable speaker yet. A lot of good reviews and it's a look alike JamBox sounds almost the same with 1/3 the price.
Not sure what an "active adapter" is, but I have a Jawbone Big Jambox in white and I absolutely LOVE it!!! It's not cheap at $300, but I was actually surprised and really really impressed with the sound that comes out of it!!! I have it paired to my Infinity, '13 N7 FHD, Note 2, and Evo LTE. They all connect easily and quickly, and all sound great! The Big Jambox has great bass, mids, and highs. The LiveSound feature sounds awesome and it's what I leave mine on all the time. The speakerphone ability is actually very nice too! Everyone who I've talked to while using it was surprised when I told them I wasn't talking directly in to my phone or even using a bluetooth earpiece. It's sitting on my nightstand in my bedroom, and I've had conversations while on the opposite side of the room without any issues (not facing the speaker, and it's not a small room either). Battery life is great also! That's another area where I was impressed. Come to think of it, everything about the Big Jambox has really impressed. May be the best $300 I've spent on electronics!
Basically, if you can spend $300 on a bluetooth speaker, there is no better choice than the Big Jambox!! Also, over the past 6 months Jawbone has emailed me on 2 occasions advertising that they were having a sale on the Big Jambox for $50 off, so only $250! I think I'm going to buy a second one next time they have them on sale for $250. Then I'll just keep one in my garage instead of carrying it back and forth.
Sent from my White Note 2 via XDA Premium HD
They offer them in a variety of colors, and in different patterns depending on the color you choose. I believe "wave" is the pattern you get if you buy white. Not sure if Jawbone is still doing it, but I received a email from them a few months ago where you could pick your choice of any colors for the top/bottom/front/back, sides, and the buttons. Very cool option! Here's mine, with and without flash
EDIT: I noticed that I need to dust my Android guys! Lol
SwiftKey'ed from my '13 Nexus 7 FHD using XDA Premium HD
Yes the jambox is pretty good, but 300$ is pretty expensive, at least for me. I have the Jabra Solemate and it is very good, and half the price.
