any devs jumping ship to the SGSIII when it releases, i saw "leaked" specs today and if thats what they really are, it's gonna be a beast. i was gonna grab the SII but i dont want to if it's just gonna become obselete in a couple months

we got our version of the sgs2 like 4-5mths after its international release. So it its not going to be any time soon.

It will be a minimum of 6 months to a year for an international version to start to roll out. And over a year for us to see one..

I'm sure it will be released before the end of spring which is way less than 6 months to a year. In the US I'd bet it being here before Christmas

No actual Dev is going to answer you so just pm them if you want an answer instead of posting a thread that is irrelevant since SGS3 doesn't even exist or been announced .

The SIII hasn't even been officially announced yet. No release dates. No confirmed specs. Its existence is barely more than rumor. How can anyone speculate who will leave, who won't, and when?
Hell, look at the Vibrant... It's development is now getting better than ever.

You gotta just get whatever phone you like. If you are always holding out for the next best thing or the newer version of tech, you're gonna be waiting forever.

AT&T reveals phones getting ICS

I know theres a bunch of this around, but this is pretty new News,
even tho we all know it WILL take months to roll out... but just some more news,

AT&T has listed its smartphones that will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months.
Those devices are the LG Nitro, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola ATRIX 4G, Pantech Burst, Pantech Element, Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
The carrier made sure to note that it will take months for the updates to roll out to your device, but at least those are confirmed.

I think it's on Samsung more than AT&T.
We'll get it either from T-Mobile's rollout to the Hercules or Rogers rollout to their Skyrocket clone or from AT&T.
Three carriers, three very similar phones.... three chances. Plus leaks from Samsung themselves.

I just hope the next couple releases don't break driver compatibility.
Like Froyo and Gingerbread weren't a big deal to upgrade from Eclair. That's good. That reduces fragmentation. When you break driver compatibility, you make upgrading a monster pain in the ass and it's slow.

Sure, ICS might take awhile for the 727 and others already have it, but we _do_ have LTE and I love it- there's no software upgrade for that!

Like the developer commnity won't have it out before 90% of the carriers, and with less bloat. ^____^

I totally agree with you there.
I bought the Skyrocket for a few main reasons:
LTE
Benchmarks compared to others available at the time of purchase.
The promise of the ICS update
If I wasn't in need of a phone at the time of purchase, I would have most likely picked up the Note.
I am a patient person and can wait for the release. If I don't like what is provided I am sure there will be plenty of other ROMs to choose from at the time as ICS should be available for the other 'brother' devices shortly.
But seriously, with all of the griping that I am seeing regarding ICS it makes me wonder what is going to be said when Jelly Bean becomes available...

I work for McDonald's, my educated guess is that Rogers will release ICS on July 3, 2012 at 11:25am Pacific Time.

u mean the one posted in april saying "today", my bro deals with alot of rogers reps, has the same phone as me but not rooted, hes has a vested interest in ics for the skyrocket, hes been pestering them(rogers reps) for any info since samsung relased ics for our phones, he finally got a responce..........flaming in the other thread was getting ridiculous and saying "today" in the header had nothing todo with this post other than its about the official rogers ics.....but by saying that i couldve, maybe shouldve, posted it in that one

No Official JB Update for Verizon S3 Coming! Woah, that was close!

So Samsung offically announced the US devices getting JB and while reading the article is says it is coming to the Galaxy S3 on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular. I was like WHAAAAAAAAT!
Then when you scroll down to the chart, is has the Verzion S3 JB update also listed as coming soon. Man, a typo like that can give someone a heart attack.

"coming soon" could mean 2013.

"Coming soon" gets put through the Verizon Wireless translator and becomes "coming way later."

It's hard to be patient for newer better operating systems. But I'm loving cleanrom 2.5 and the Google now mod I found here on xda. This phone runs well on pics so I'm hoping jb by Xmas.

So everyone knows that today was the official announcement of android 4.2 and the devices that will have them pre-installed. How long do you guys think it will take to get a ROM up for the GS3?

Well depends when the source is released then complied and bug tested and posted here. I would say 2 days to 2 months depending how much it has to be tweaked to run right.

Samsung has a headstart probably because of its galaxy nexus series phones,so probably other galaxy series phones will get it fast too?? i would say less than one month from now.SGS 3 is still one of Samsung's flagship models still though. :good:

Offical ota? Probably late 2013 or something stupid like that. I have no clue why Verizon sucks ass with updates but its annoying. iirc they released JB for the Nexus like 2 months after every other carrier had released theirs.

Did you mean big news? Yes, very much so, you'll probably see 976 threads labeled "4.2 source code released!"...........and then 985,456 people flaming them because there are 975 too many threads about it, lol.
Regardless, you'll probably see some AOSP merges in roms including 4.2 within a week of then, I'd be willing to bet. Whether they're stable or not is a whole new question......

I agree with tech as soon we can get our hands on it someone will have the success to port it, but it won't be anything like a regular rom until the source is released. I'd say it shouldn't take no more than a few weeks for us to see 4.2

They are famous for their time consuming ROM testing and evaluation process for delivering a perfect device that we have to root and ROM to get it to run like it should !
