I've experienced this problem one time also since I've had the phone; a reboot fixed the problem and I've not had the problem re-occur since... not real sure what caused, possibly another app or something, but very strange.
I'm not sure it this is what is happening for you but I noticed that if I'm using my HOX in the car as a MP3 player through my stereo or listening using headphones, either one, and I get a phone call I answer the call and then after hanging up the call my audio is super quiet. Sometimes I have to leave the music app and go back in before the volume restores itself. I'm unlocked, rooted and running Clean ROM2.3 on the 1.82 ruu but I noticed this behavior right after purchasing the phone so not sure what the deal is.
I noticed the same thing. After a few days the volume dropped to almost nothing. I also rebooted and wiped the cache and that seemed to fix it.
Hasn't done it again. Fingers-crossed.
The one x turns down the ringtone when you get a phone call and pick the phone up off the table or pocket w/e.

Anyone else experiencing this in Qik? Tried over wifi and 3G, downloaded all updates. The volume is very low. Does this happen to anyone else?
OMG yes! I thought I was the only one? It's too damn hard to hear who I'm talking to. The person even asked me why I would bring the phone up to my ear every time he spoke. I hope an update can fix this.
I experienced the same thing using Tango. Tried doing a test chat with my friend on his iphone. He kept asking me to repeat myself and said the volume was low. I could hear him fine.
So, just to see, I tried it with the headphones and mic... MUCH better, he could hear me fine.
At first I thought it was the case maybe getting in the way, but taking it off didn't help at all.
Not sure what to make of it... hopefully, it is just some software problem and nothing major.
This is my first post BTW... After leaving the iphone a couple of months ago I have tried 3 Samsung Captivates (Galaxy S), 2 G2's, and 2 MT4G's... I think I finally got a keeper. This thing is redonkulous!

same - tried over data and wifi. However... girlfriend used headphones and no headphones, and iphone head phones... could barely hear here. it would cut in and out sometimes too... she couldn't hear me half the time either... helllppppp this is why we bought this stupid phone!
i had the same problem today, i hope it's just a matter of an update, other than that this phone is awesome! i can't believe i got a MyTouch after having a g1, i thought i'd be a loyal vanilla user but this phone was too sweet to pass up
lol @2071. Yea I'm about to get it Tomorrow coming from a g1. I wish this was vanilla, or i can at least root
Double check that your call is going through the speakerphone. Is it possible that the video call audio is defaulting to the earpiece? I wonder because if it sounds normal using headphones then there's probably nothing wrong. Just a guess.
The other side they can hear me perfectly. Its just my ability to hear them. During the call, if I push the volume keys, the volume meter comes up on the phone as "media volume." Also, if I make a regular non-video call and put it on speaker, the speaker is LOUD. So its just confined to video calls..... Also, other media (music) is LOUD.
Ya I have also tried Tango and its the same low volume on The network or my wifi. I haven't tried headphones yet though.

I can confirm low volume as well. Seems to work way better with headphones in for both sides.

Alright, well make sure you all call in to tmo tech support so this becomes a known issue quickly!
im not experiencing low volume... what i am experiencing is when talking to my friend, I had to switch the mic on and off each time I wanted to talk and hear him.. kinda like a 2 way radio
So I've searched and not had any luck with a problem like what I'm experiencing. All kinds of low volume, or even tinny sound, but nothing like what I'm experiencing.
So when I've got music playing (from an app like Pandora) there is this popping sound that happens. It kind of sounds like it's clipping the highs or like the song was badly encoded. I thought at first it was just the song I had on, but I listened closely and it's on almost every song. Now I haven't tried loading some mp3's of my own on the phone yet to see what will happen, but I suspect the same results.
Did I get a bad phone? Is this a common issue? I'm still well within my 30 day grace period so if there is a problem I will take the phone back and get it replaced.
For some more info, the phone is rooted and running Cyanogen Mod 7 (I installed it this evening hoping that might fix the issue). Any help or a pointer in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
No one has any idea's or thoughts?
Try some of your own mp3s to make sure it isn't the phone. If it still happens try clearing Pandoras data.
Also check into the encoding/streaming settings for pandora.
I might also try clearing the dalvik to help prevent any issues as a start.

This happens on one of my songs using poweramp. I am also on cm7. Try messing with the dsp manager.

Happens with me all the time! Any song, any ringtone... even the stock HTC ones produce a bad sound
The phones says Dolby surround and does not even produce normal quality sound!
I have the same issue (I think)
My ear piece volume is very loud and the sound is great but when it comes to exterior sounds the Inspire makes, it is really horrible!
My ringtone, email and text sound notifications are so low in volume (With the volume set at the highest level for all) that I don't even notice it has gone off.
I just bought it 3 days ago and coming from the HTC HD2 I am really disappointed. I missed 6 calls and dozens of texts and emails just today because I can't hear it when it's in my leather holster, same holster I used with the HD2.
I'm not sure what to do to fix it and I would really appreciate any suggestions to improve the sound levels. Otherwise I'm gonna return it before my 30 day trial period expires. A phones is useless if you can't hear it.
Sounds like they changed something when they built this phone for ATT. Why is it that phones for ATT always seem to have some quirk to them?
A few time during my reboots of my phone I would notice that my speaker volume during the boot animation would not be as loud as some of the brand new devices I sell in store.
However whenever I am updating to a new version of a rom I would notice it kick right back up, then to later reduce to almost nothing over the course of a few days.
Is there anything a rooted user can do beyond the factory settings menu to get the volume corrected? It becomes especially annoying while watching a video. Have to carry headphones with me just to enjoy them.
Running BAMF 1.6.3
Thanks
I noticed this too. But can't figure out why.

I'm on TMOUS and about 90% of times when placing or ending calls, my phones speaker will emit a popping/clicking sound. It's not really a deal breaker per se, but it's starting to annoy me more and more. I've only had the device for about a week. I've called HTC and they don't recognize that as a common issue, I've factory reset it, and I've loaded 5 different roms. The problem shows up in all locations and with or without wifi calling too! The audio quality is a little low but generally great during all calls on both ends of the line. This issue only shows up when I press call, or press end.
Anyone else experience this? Should I just return it for another unit?
Sounds like a hardware issue. Get a warranty exchange thru T-Mobile. Just make sure to revert to stock if ur not already.

The more I thought about it, the more it was bugging me that a $500 phone did that. So, I took it back and got a new one, guess what, no popping noises. Nice!!!
Hello Everyone,
I have been using HTC Sensation for a good 3 months and no problem at all so far. The phone is rooed and uisng Insertcoin 2.4.1 Rom. 3 days ago while in a call, the sound faded away and since then there is some times sound coming from the ear piece sometimes not. Even the call starts succesfully loud and suddenly sound disappears. I have tried everything i know, reflashing, trying another Rom, formatting the SD card and not installing any software etc...During the call, i can communicate if i turn the speaker on or plug in the earphones. I belive that there is a bug that commands the phone to shut the earpiece and divert the sound either to speaker or the earphones.
Anyone ever has/had this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem with my s2, any solution?

Im having the same Problem, but i observed that the sound doesn't come back randomly, the earpiece speaker seems to shutdown a while after the display gets turned off due to the proximity sensor. I tried different ROMs, and got the same result, i guess it's a hardware problem. Would you tell me, if you get the exact same Problem, meaning you check if sound disappears when you're having it close to the head?
Thank you
