It captures much darker in general; it works by halving the recording resolution and blending the pixels.

Thanks

There has to be a fix...
I just installed "energy ROM" on my girlfriends HTC Amaze and it has slow motion video recorder baked into the ROM and it does not record dark indoors at all. Furthermore it does it at 720p. So somehow there has to be a fix or a better camcorder out there. Someone with more knowledge could help us... Thanks in advance.

Check the bitrate, 20$ says it's tanked and you shot in a bright room

ICS Camera Released on Market

ICS camera has been released on the market, same with browser.
Here is the camera link:

Not official. Has ads.
I haven't seen any ads..installed and have been testing for last hour.
What's nice is camcorder in it. You can double the bitrate, so for 720p you can get respectable results up around 12-13mbps.
Sound is mono- but actually sounds fine.
Thanks for pointing out the camera!
The one linked is the ad version. I guess one could upgrade to the full for .99.
does not focus properly on close up objects. picture quality pales in comparison to stock htc camera. unless im missing something?
I agree for stock pictures, I'll continue using HTC's camera. But for camcorder, I'll use this for now as video is much better since its not nearly compressed. You can set the bitrate to ultra which will give you roughly 14-16 mbps instead of HTC's 5 mbps for 720 video.

How you sets to over 10mbps in video recording in ICS camera??
I can only record the video in qHD with X2 bitrate which is 4mbps+.
the ICS camera really take good quality in video recoding,
but the uncapable of tap-focus just disapointed me.
Hope HTC can upgrade the feature of stock camera.
I go into settings, select 720p and select bitrate x2. There is a thread over in the galaxy nexus forums about this. I believe the camera reads what bitrate you have in your media-profiles.xml and doubles it.
Tap to focus would be nice, but since using i haven't had any focus problems.

if it's not a problem, can someone post the APK? I can't download it from where i am at (South East Asia). sucks, i'm blocked from a lot of cool apps.
crashes on 2x bitrate in 1080p....
Anyone feel like share the apk, it seems it doesnt support my device when i try to download it on Play :S
This is what MediaInfo tells me about the video-bitrates:
720p:
Android Revolution HD 6.5.1 XE Stock Cam: 5094
Camera ICS with bitrates set to "Normal": 8038
Camera ICS with bitrates set to "2x": ~16076 (shows 16MBit)
1080p:
Android Revolution HD 6.5.1 XE Stock Cam: 10100
Camera ICS with bitrates set to "Normal": 12100
Camera ICS with bitrates set to "2x": App crashes!!!
So this is a nice Videocam-App for those who want to use higher bitrates than the HTC-locked standard ones. The quality is much better
I've been searching for such a possibility for long time now!
For me it is really laggy laggy crappy

Yep, I tried Amaze Mod - when I was on 2.3.*rom.
And compared results on my PC - AmazeMod did better.
Now I have 4.0 rom (Elegancia) and as far as it goes - stock cam isn't that bad.
I like the stock camera of my HTC Sensation better than this one on 4.0.3

[Q] HTC One S 720p better than 1080p

ok ive just got the HTC one S and i love it but theres a few things bugging me,
1 Battery life
2 1080p
3 Weak Cell Signal
Ok the battery life could be because i cant put the fecking thing down......hahahaha
and the Signal could be problems with the mast near me as my girlfriends Evo 3D has a rubbish signal.
BUT OMG the video quality in 1080p is really really poor, ill try and upload my video on youtube, the quality is blurred and the detail is terrible my Galaxy S plus and my girlfriends HTC Evo 3D 720p video completely trashes the HTC one S video quality.
Anyone else concerned about the quality or is it my phone thats faulty ?
Thanks
Nope just u mines amazing

its like motion blur, if i keep the camera still and focused the picture quality is ok, but soon as you start walking with it the quality becomes very digitized and blocky. i dont get this with my old Galaxy S plus 720p and that doesnt even have any kind of stabilisation.
im uploading now. all the grass just blurs into a smudgy green mess.
EDIT: heres the link, http://youtu.be/Vv15Xp4GQ7M please turn down your speakers as i get a message halfway through and its loud
Ok in YouTube it shows the video quality at 240p.
Is this just me??
BTW; if that's your backyard, I'd be
****ting bricks to go outside .
Update got to watch it in hd 720 and 1080. Yeah horrible results. I'm going to try something now. Will upload video in a few.

Have you checked your video settings on the phone? Default isn't always set to 1080...also when you upload to YouTube the video is compressed...and is usually grainy...
Sent from my HTC One S
Yeah but only time you see compressed quality is when you watch them through the app. Open a lap top choose 1080p quality and is nothing like hq in app.

Thanks this shows me that the HTC one S 1080p quality isnt very good, it could be a software or focusing problem, but picture quality is blurred with minimal movement but crystal clear when held still, Grass and plants cause it to become blocky, my Samsung Galaxy S Plus has better moving image quality but i think its because it has a fixed focus.

Video Lag

i haven't really seen anyone complain about this?! i've been taking videos recently (1080p) and the camera is AWFUL! VERY laggy, especially with bright lights and lots of movement.
anyone else noticing this?! hopefully they'll release a fix. i could upload some videos if you guys want examples.
So I guess no one has been having this problem? Weird.

any camera alternatives that does it?
I'm also interested in that
I tried changing the permissions file, but I guess it takes more than that.

[Q] Any way to disable HTC camera image processing?

Hey guys,
I recently noticed that the One XL camera is doing some post-processing after the image is taken. It sharpens and brightens the photos, but also leaves them looking washed out. I've always thought that darker One XL photos looked a little washed out when posted on Facebook or Instagram.
This is especially evident when using the review feature in the Sense camera. When you take a photo, the one shot being reviewed looks sharp with a good contrast. But if you immediately open the photo that's in the gallery, you'll see the difference immediately.
Now, I'm wondering if there is any way to disable this? It seems to also happen in CM10, so it might be a hardware feature.
What ROM are you running currently?
I've never experienced this to be honest

I was running Newts JB and now I'm on CM10 with the same issue. Did you by any chance try the sequence I explained and notice any difference?
