Stock vs Custom - HTC One S

Hello!
I recently bought HTC ONE S - amazing phone! Really like it so far!
But now I'm thinking - is it worth flashing custom rom, or leave it as it is...
I heavily use my phone - so stability and battery are a must! I do not use social networks - so ideally I would have them removed - i.e twitter, facebook, etc.
Can people please share their thought and experience.
I'm sure, this can become useful for all new owners.
Please sharу your expirience on using different custom ROMs.
And I do like HTC Sence very much, so ideally my ROM should be very close to stock ROM.
Thank you very much, look forward to your thoughts and answers

This is a development section, its not for questions

if your gonna start a thread like this, why not add all the ROMs out there ? BinDroid ? ZyDroid ? Zero One S ??
And if your serious about this thread, Please change the OP and State that you do NOT want to cause a flame war, You just want to know what people prefer and why !?!?
Do NOT say which is better ? as this will cause upheaval and end up with the thread being deleted

Thank you!
I really did not want to cause flame war! It;s not a funboy question - it's just a matter of choosinng between flashing custom rom or using stock rom.
I do appreciate all the developers here and I'm sorry about not mentioning you.
I since edited my post.
Not sure how to edit poll, so please, no flame wars.
BUT!!! Your expirience is highly appreciated!

I prefer any custom rom over the stock rom.
First Reason: I prefer to lower the density (210) and afterwords use more icons in the grid. at the moment 6x8
Second Reason: Free RAM. Around 150mb on stock rom and more than 250mb on custom rom
Actually i am on Leedroid. But was also on Trickdroid, CM9 and AOKP. I would prefer AOKP because of all the modding but at the moment i find the Stockbased like Lee and Trick more stable and better to use as a daily driver....
I realy like the Rom Cleaner script. It is so easy to make a no Sense rom out of any custom rom =)

Software version

Hi I have just bought the LG and was wondering if there is a preferred rooting process and if my phone running software v10d would work? I have moved from a desire hd which used a one click root script on Linux which is what I prefer to use.
Also are there many good roms for this phone?
Thanks
Rom choice is personal preference depends on what you like i suggest you root your phone with SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse. And try all the roms..
Personally i have tried every rom here lol when i say every even down to the cm7 and at the moment Thaiz's is a clear winner plus he put up the system ui and stuff so you can make your very own personal theme from UOT kitchen....
But like i said rom depends on you good luck and welcome to Optimus 3D Forums where waiting is the game lol....
Oh and P.S i am not gonna say anything but next time please post questions in general normally you will be flamed but i will start it of with a positive post ...
Thanks a lot for the info. If I knew how to move this thread over to general, then I would! The main thing Is that I am able to root with the software version I'm running. Don't want to brick the phone

hi, i've just finished rooting. still running 2.2.2 software v10d and have installed rom manager and also flashed CWM and want to try out Thaiz's rom next. can i just copy the zip over to my sdcard then install from CWM or do i need to install a few other things first, like a different radio?
cheers
Yes, you need a different radio. Update to V21a, root, install CWM and have fun.

New to rooting and custom ROMs, few questions...

Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to customizing my android phone. Have only had a Galaxy SII before, which I flashed to CyanogenMod.
Now I might be interested in flashing my new One S, particularly due to better battery life but also for enhanced possibilities.
I can of course read the guides on how to root & flash (although it seems a lot more complicated than on my Galaxy SII).
What I'm more worried about is, how do I flash back to stock, if that should be necessary later on? Is it very complicated?
Now, I actually like Sense 4.0, HTC keyboard and some other HTC things, so I would like to flash a ROM with Sense. I've looked through the forum and concluded, that either Noble or Trickdroid might be suitable for me. I know that it's not polite to shoot down the one or other ROM, but could some of you tell me the differences between the two? I can't really point them out myself.
Thank you very much!
Best regards
Casper

If you can read, you would know the differences between the 2 roms, and you would also know that THIS IS DEVELOPMENT SECTION, NOT Q&A !!
Wrong Section.
Sorry, how to move?

Harsh.
But yes, it is the wrong section. A mod will probably move this post soon enough.
That said, I just read them over. They look to be mostly the same. Stock with a few tweaks here and there. Noble looked the better of the two to me.
Both have some very vague language though
Fully optimized and tweaked
RAM optimizations
Speed optimizations
Excellent battery life!
Better CPU Performance

You can always just take a backup and flash each one and give them a day or two test run.

Need Suggestions for Better custom ROM

Hi.. Im kinda new in android and i got rooted my HTC Sensation XE ICS 4.0.3 sense 3.6
and i wanted to flash a custom roms Any suggestions Thanks...
Before this gets closed for not being in your devices forum and for asking for suggestions of ROMs, I'll tell you the best thing to do is just to test some out.
That way, you'll know exactly what you like and don't like, rather than choosing based on someone else's favorite.
I'm a product of the system I was born to destroy!
Sir, first welcome.
Second take some time to read this being new to XDA. Great reading. [GUIDE] - XDA New User Guide - Getting started on XDA
Third find your device forum do some reading and homework, learn it and read some more. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1109

HTC Desire S.
1)_Ok so i obviously changed it becouse i liked its specs more, but as it is known specs are not all that matters so tell me what you think about this device and what i have gotten myself into, by getting one.
2)_I was with xda for over a year now with my x10, so i know basics (Such as what rom is, why y need to unlock bootloader, whats up with phone rooting , and generally all basics about flashing.) Please gimme some tips bout what Custom kitchenware you use to Flash whose fresh ROM's to your devises, and which rom would be best for starters (most stable compared to perfomance) (would be best ics if its complete on this device, couse its not on x10)
Please dont rage on me much couse i come with love. And i will be staying with this development section of Desire S for some time now

Welcome :good: You need to read, read and read some more.
There are some great ROMs out there. If you want stability then stick with a GB-based one for the moment (Reaper for non-Sense and Endymion for Sense). If you want to be a bit more adventurous then try Fallout v5.0, based on the ICS RUU.
TO learn what you are doing - there are plenty of guides out there so make sure you read and understand exactly what you are doing and why before you risk doing anything to your phone.
Gratz on getting yourself the Ds, first if all!
1. First of all, by getting the mobile you just got into friendliest forum in xda!
2. And Secondly, before you start asking questions, there's some comprehensive guide about the specs, guides and tutorials, info, etc stickied in the general section
Edit : ah already see Simon has beat me to the welcoming committee

Thx for kind words of welcome, and just so to let you know i am reading all the beginers guides (not done yet). And at the same time i saw that ICS is officially on this phone now. So i am trying to install it but as it seems i need adb drivers and i have some difficulty finding them on my windows8. I found some for windows 7 but is says unsuported os on win8
UPDATE: grabed my Moms laptop with win7 and started to install this official ICS, but i cant keep doing that every time i need to flash rom (mom would come and turn it off right in middle )
Welcome, see link in my signature for the INDEX thread that should hopefully contain links to all you seek.
I'll echo what is said above in read read and read some more
Enjoy and there is an OFF TOPIC thread for social chat etc
Sywepd form my DsereiS
Hello man)
ROM installed on my device is ICE_DS 5.0 with kernel Tweaked 7.1 (battery life is great!)
ROM on 4.0.4 version need update manualy.
p.s. its older to buy
hey there, welcome to the club! if you want great stability and also ICS experience, and don't want to experiment, you can also flash Ice Cream Saga v1. you get the latest HTC stock rom, rooted, with only the most basic tweaks. you can customise it if you wish with amidabudha's tweaked kernel or leave it as it is.

Hi Kesh,
When you post a link, it gives you the option to change the text that appears 'above' the hyperlink . Well worth using the feature as it shows people exactly what you are linking to, rather than just the actual URL.

hello, the desire s is a beautiful phone that will give you much satisfaction, I think that the best rom is the fallout 5 and ICE DS 5.0. But made a little culture by reading the forum.

[Q] to change htc one x stock rom

hi everyone, I own a one x and I'd like to know if its necessary to change the stock rom to a custom rom, like CM. I think with another rom it should run faster! and if it is true, what rom do you recommend to flash, thanks!:good:
Asking which ROM is best/most stable/fastest/prettiest question isn't allowed so I can't answer that, here's why. To say one ROM is better is to infer that the others are inferior in some way. This is disrespectful to the devs who spend their spare time bringing us these awesome ROMs free of charge. Each user has different tastes anyway, the best way to see which ROM suits you is to flash a few and find out for yourself.
