DXROM (Dian Xin rom) is another Chinese ROM (similar to MIUI). I got bored and figured I would port it over to the Shift. My phone however isn't working anymore so I wasn't able to fix it 100% (check for issues below).

Looks like a flex cable. Keyboard works fine but the touchscreen only works if I open the keyboard slightly at an angle - really hard to get it working lol.

That sucks dude, we need you to have a Shift! Maybe I'll "lose" mine and send it to you . Anyway, ROM looks pretty cool, I'll give a try later when I can download.

My guess is that people who use these roms like IOS, but because of their carriers limited phone selection, or their economic status, cannot afford to buy a crapple device, therefore get a cheaper android phone and do their best to make it look like IOS, but yeah, to each their own.

It's using the kernel from 7.2 but a lot of the libs/ect are from Cyclonic.

There's a MIUI Rom that is WP7 themed....you can flash it or maybe ask the dev behind it how you can achieve it. Hope it helps...see ya.

ok wait a minute... a wp7 skin/theme for the dialer has nothing to do with sense. adding such a skin wont affect sense in any way.

I know, but I haven't found that skin yet. Maybe it can be developed by someone...let just ask because unfortunately I can't develop anything at all.

there are 3 problems with that app. 1st, its NOT a skin, its an app. 2nd, i tried it a while ago and it sucks big time! and lastly, even if it were a good skin which it isn't, its still an app and therefore cant replace the android dialpad.

That will be a very large task indeed as it would require the skinning of almost every single apk in the rom. and even then the widgets cant be skinned yet on a 3.5 rom last i knew. There will be almost 50 apks that will need to be decompiled, hundreds of lines of code changed and then recompiled. Your better off getting a W7 device as I am not sure anyone would be willing to put that much time into a theme that looks like W7
Ok reread the whole thing. For the dial pad that would be 4 apks and about 100 xml changes plus some smali code changes

Good luck. Any theme for HTC sense is alot of work. You could read the tut on how to do it yourself. That's what XDA is all about anyway.

Are you crazy or something? You're a terrible developer! I was late to a mission critical appointment this morning because I check the clock and it said it was only 11:41. I will sue you for making me late to a mission critical appointment!
Joking aside, theming is not something that's easy. A lot of time you just have to be happy with what you get and if you really want it, you have to learn and theme it yourself and that's when you have to decide whether it's important enough to put all the time and effort into it when you could easily find an app that have all that you want. You can't have everything that's for sure.

first not working: clock. it crashes when you open the clock app
first impressions: is very fast, I haven't noticed any lag or freeze...
basically is like to have a...go launcher os! is very colorful...
the ui is just classic...nice toggles and widgets, VERY NICE the phone app that includes dialer, contacts and messages, is the first time I see messages integrated on the contacts app and I like it very much...
there is a "profile manager" that allows you to control easily connections, like a power saver/connection switcher. very very nice.
good launcher (classic), good lockscreen, good notifications popup.
so, don't expect a new os, or things like that...is android ics, just themed with some new feature...nothing too much special, but I appreciated the very good work.

Nice rom with a nice potential but...
It looks very nice and seems to have been worked on well. Still a lot of things need to be adressed.
For me one of the things was the alarms program which didnt start at all.
That meant that also the Calendar was the AOSP one and not the DX
Weather widget in the clock does not work with EU cities, only with chinese ones as far as i could see. To me this is a major spoil. If you make a launcher and want to penetrate EU or US markets, the least you can do is use a weather widget where major world cities are available.
I returned to recovery and flashed back my nandroid backup.
Will try this another time and another version.

Data workaround:
When you first boot JoyOS up, go to Settings>Operators>Access Point Names, and tap the radio button for Sprint. This unfortunately doesn't stick on reboot, so anytime you reboot you have to go back to APN's and instead of tapping the radio button, actually tap on Sprint. This will open the settings for the Sprint APN. Just back out of it and 3G will activate in a few seconds.
Bugs:
Some Chinese here and there.
Home and search keys, capacitive and physical, may stop working. A reboot fixes this. (Rare, only happened the very first time I got it booting.)
Lockscreen may stop appearing when you unlock your phone. A reboot fixes this. (Rare, only happened the very first time I got it booting.)
Sometimes sms' don't show up in the app when received. I don't know why, or a possible fix other than using a third party sms app. If you want to keep the iOS style, I suggest ChompSMS. (This may be an upstream issue with the SMS app.)

Variance is always good, regardless. I'm happy to learn there's more Android development out there I didn't know about. And besides, I've already stolen that Ipod Music clone... My wife and I both use our jailbroken iTouchs around the house and she'll love having the same player.

That's what I'm saying. Looks like an amazing alternative to ics if you want your drivers to be fully functional.

Yeah there are way to many heavily themed roms out there that are extremely ugly. This looks plain, simple, beautiful, and stock. Which is why it would be amazing to have on this phone.

No ETA, as I said before and was the reason of my questions whether to upload or not, I'm going to be very busy. I have been mostly porting instead of doing my java homework and lecture so I need to catch up, and I have to attend my eldest son father's day thingy which is in another state so I'm trying to get other things done.
Maybe this weekend or next week.
Edit: I think I just gave an ETA while trying to explain why I dont want to give an ETA ... I need some sleep.

I just finished downloading the official release, it seems to be ICS, either way I'm finishing the port...
I guess I'm weak willed when it comes to this.

I just flashed it and have been playing around. Runs really smooth overall. The lockscreen is missing however, am I doing something wrong?
Also, where can I find the wallpaper that compliments the theme in OP's pic?

Okay, the long anticipated successor of Launcher7, is finally here; Launcher8. This one is made by Timo Kujala, and was published today, APRIL 1ST....
So yeah check it out...
I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with tablets, based on responses, but I am not sure.

Been waiting for this for a long time, seems to work well enough on my One S. Feels smoother than the chinese Launcher 8 app.

how is this better than Launcher WP8? sorry cos it looks the same and LWP8 has a lot of option and improvements already. It's fast and fluid too.

Hey guys, no need to be sorry, honest question you all asked... But I think this app is way more smooth and fast when it comes to Navigating and adding apps to screen and scrolling, etc. (not the animation on start up of an app though). Hope that helped. This looks better in the settings of the app for me too.

Launcher 8 doesn't work for tablets, and I added to OP once it was realized, so that's why.

And what's the difference between tile launcher...which has had tons of development and includes lots of customization and is very smooth - not to mention works on tablets.

One big difference is compatibility. Tile Launcher is nice, but it's 4.0+.

I'm fully aware that the problem is with me, I've been using the previous version of this app (Launcher 7), and can't figure out how to add tiles...
I would greatly appreciate it if some one would describe the steps I should take for adding new tiles, and after that I would feel a great deal of embarrassment about not figuring this out for myself...
