hi, im new to the whole root/flashing concept but decided that motorola are dragging their heals in too long to bring the xoom mz601 upto to ics if ever so ive managed to unlock/root and flash with everything all up and running apart from internet connection not working but ive found solution and the only other issue ive got is both the gmail and youtube apps fail to update from playstore with the message (package file was not signed correctly. uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again) so i need advice on how to fix this please, how do i remove apps and if so will it cause a system issue? anyone help a noob?
did you flash a gapps package with your new rom??
@draxin hi, yes i flashed EOS_GApps_ics_4.0.3_v10.5 immediately after flashing Eos-umts_everest-2.0.0.zip
both gmail and youtube work but show update in playstore and give that package file was not correctly signed message when trying to update. just noticed there is a newer version of gapps named: gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which ive downloaded directly from the goo.im app but am not sure if i need to flash Eos-umts_everest-2.0.0.zip again first or can i just flash the new gapps and will i need to clear anything?
update
Just updating that I decided to try a reflash of Eos-umts_everest-2.0.0.zip and then immediately flashed new gapps (gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip ) and after a couple of tries I've now got latest Gmail and YouTube as the latest gapps had removed them which made life easier for a noob like me. Loving my Xoom even more now with team eos ics running on it and looking forward to the next stable build which hopefully gives the data arrows on network signal as its really odd not knowing if data is being transferred in/out plus extended battery life would be great too although I'm sure I along with thousands will be waiting for jellybean stable release by the year end.
Seems I came late in here. Anyway, you could have flashed the latest gapps without reflashing the rom. Good luck and enjoy ..

hi, never too late as its nice to know what is possible and what is not. is there away to get just play music to flash as ive managed to delete it as for some reason it wont play any of my songs yet it finds them ok, not sure if the old music.apk was in gapps but ive got that and it works but i would like to see if i can get the newer music2.apk to work
Music.apk is part of android (aosp)
Play music is on the play store.
Gmail and YouTube are no longer part of gapps I believe because they are both on the play store

I thought play music was in the play store but its not anywhere to be found in UK store which is why I was asking, I could flash gapps again as that's in there but it wouldn't play any songs. If there is a fix for it playing then flashing gapps would be easiest option I believe, I've been told I can flash gapps without flashing rom again but should I wipe cache and dalvik before any flashing?

Always give a new rom sometime to settle in before you judge battery life. Like 4 or five cycles and you'll see how it's working.
I'm glad to hear you're loving the Xoom, running EOS!

Can this be flashed onto cm9 at any point, or does it have to be at the clean install? Also is there any difference between using the zip and just installing the apps from the play store in cm9 other than saving time by having them all in a bundle?
Thanks..

1. Yes you can though some people have had some bugs where the home and search button wouldn't work if gapps weren't flashed before the 1st boot
2. Cm9 and other aosp roms don't have any of the Google apps including the play store so you HAVE to install gapps
Hope that helped buddy

Hi,
I just installed the 4.2.1 rom from aokp but I can not find out how to download any apps. There is no marketplace or google play app. Do I have to find the .apk and download it manually? If so do I need a special version for 4.2.1?
Thanks
Download and flash Google Apps. Goggle "gapps" and download the version for your ROM.
As previously mentioned you need to download the latest version of Google apps for ROMs based on Android 4.2.1 (Such as the latest version of AOKP) and flash the zip package in recovery. Google apps compatible with Android 4.2.1 can be found here http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip.

Thanks a bunch. I must have downloaded the wrong one before. Thanks for the links, that did the trick.
Wow, you all are really quick with the answers. Kudos.
Course, now bluetooth seems broken. It seems to be a a2dp issue. I'll post again with a different title but basically when I tried to listen to music/podcasts it is fine for like 3 seconds then turns really staticy and garbled. I heard the latest nightly from 13-01-28 addressed this so I flashed that which is definitely better but the voices seem off like they are speaking at 80% speed. Weird.
Thanks again you all rock!
A suggestion for you is to get Goo manager. Some of the devs have the gapps right there when you select the rom version for download, Lets you download them together. It'll help you get the right gapps for the rom your looking to use.
cus i can not post in the "development " so I'd like to feedback here and hope someone can feedback for me
1st, It's strange, if you set ur language to english the rom's system ui will be fine , but if you set it as chinese or others, it will be system ui FC
2nd, is it possible to add an option to show the carrier label in the status bar ? some one may keen on it ~

can you work on increasing the battery life of the 4.3 pac im running the new 1.0 kernel jbx but still the roms using up a lot of battery
underclocking and tweaking the governors seem to help a little but i think the kexec drawing a lot of power.
btw gr8 work on the rom integration of cm pa and aokp

i second tht opinion but pa seems to have less battery consumption and with the gapps included into the rom it seems to be quite stable.
but if you want to tweak around with your cpu cm should do the trick.

Maybe a bad download and/or a bad flash.(?) I haven't had any of the issues you're reporting, and haven't seen others reporting the same so it is likely something on your end. Just redownload and reflash and see if that helps.

Lastess nigthly builds
Hi, the pac rom is very stable and fast, i use the nightly 23.
But, i have a bug to repport wen usb headset is connected, and recive or do a call if you don't hang before the other person hangs the phone is blocked and restart a little secs after.
Second with the lastes builds 26, 25 or 24 the wifi is not working. I test restarting, with wifical.sh, a fresh install (4.0.4 or 4.1.2) motorola roms flashed with rsd, i tried to install the 23 over 26 rom and wifi didin't start.
Just something I slapped together to see if I can get it working on the D800 and what features I want to incorporate into my multi-flavor CM base build I am working on. I did not take the time to compile these ROMs. Other users have compiled them and I just ported them to work on the D800. Just sharing these versions for now until official ROMs come.

Doing the same as this individual and will see what comes out of it.
So far so good. Was getting random FC on android.process.media while Play Store was downloading all my apps which caused Play Store to crash, but that seemed to have stopped once the Play Store itself updated to the latest version that came out recently (the one where the menu pulls out from the left side rather than via a button).
Now everything seems to be working just fine. No FCing, keyboard works. Gonna report back after a few hours once I take it through its paces for my personal use. Thank you soooo so much, I couldn't stand the stock LG ROM.
EDIT:
No default ringtones or notification sounds if that counts as a bug lol
Also just got a FC from android.process.media again on the home screen randomly.

i also have propper gapps so well have a detailed report
im also gonna take a look at the att source and see if i can hack up the device tree so we can start our own builds but i dont wanna be a supporting dev. no time :\ tmobile consumes my life enough as is
Working for me no fc so far but I have no gapps it would bit flash with twrp
Downloaded and flashed (using latest gapps) and the camera / gallery is having force closes. Every time that the camera is opened, I get "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" however, when I open gallery, it works properly.
* Data connects properly
* Texts seem to come through just fine
* Google Now always says that there is a network error and to try again. EDIT: seems to have resolved itself.
* Gmail / Email seems to be working
* Browser is as fast as ever
* APN's seem to be set correctly on both epc.tmobile.com and fast.t-mobile.com (LTE)
So far, excellent start!
EDIT: I can't seem to download anything from the Play store. I can browse the play store just fine, but can't download?? Probably just my phone, but thought I'd mention it.

Thanks! I was going to buy a second device since I can not tie up my main phone flashing and what not. I am short a couple of hunderd so I will put it towards the new device fund. I use AT&T but can get a T-Mobile edition and just sim unlock it. I was going to get the T-Mobile version and unlock it but my friend had an upgrade he did not use and owed me a favor so I got the AT&T version instead.

THANK YOU!!!
Hi,
I decided to post my own topic and not in the CM11 thread, because this is probably not a CM11 issue. As you know, the Nexus S has only 512MB of RAM including video. Mine has been having quite a lot of slowdowns (apps refreshes/restarts) for the past weeks. I am wondering what I could do to help it and avoid buying a new phone (no money and I still love that phone).
However now, there are few things that I can't do anymore.
- I can't listen to BeyondPod (podcasts) and receive/send SMS in Hangout. There's not enough RAM to run both apps and even when I am listening to BeyondPod, the SMS alert might not trigger when a SMS is received. This happens in few apps here and there.
- Sometimes, someone calls me and the screen stays black so I can't answer. Again, this is due to RAM usage.
- I use SwiftKey as keyboard and it can't take 30-45 seconds to load in some apps such as Chrome.
I am running CM11 Nightlies. I usually update CM11 once per 2 weeks with the lastest Nightly available. I don't wipe the entire configs, I just upgrade. It's been a while since I've wiped everything to be honest. I probably updated CM10 to CM11 without wiping the configs. This might be one thing to try but I am not sure if it would help to regain some RAM/juice. I am running the stock kernel of CM11. I know there are few kernels with a bigmem patch, but does it really work ?
As for launcher, I am running Apex Launcher as well with SwipePad. Greenify runs in the background and hibernate pretty much every apps it can. I don't have the Greenify donation package, so it won't hibernate on the system apps.
I am wondering if wiping everything and installing a stable version of CM11 (or another lighter ROM?) would help. I would use TItanium Backup to reinstall the apps and their settings. I wouldn't use TiB to push the configs of the ROM if CM11 is reinstalled. Would a kernel or ROM with bigmem patch a good idea ?
This would probably be a temporary fix, because apps and ROMs are asking for more and more CPU/RAM these days.
Thanks for any input,
Neo.
A clean flash isn't a bad idea, just backup your rom first.. Backup your apps/ data on your SD with titanium backup and then you can just restore them.. You could try my stable v1.1 script and use Guru (CM kernel with bigmem) or Devil and you will notice the improvement.. Also the CM m9 is a very nice rom.. Happy flashing..

Thanks for your answer Setting.Out.
Before I receive your answer, I did some research on my side as well. It turns out that I have downloaded your ROM (the Farewell edition) and the cn.fyodor AOSP 4.4.3 ROM. I decided to go ahead and install the AOSP ROM instead of yours. I wanted to try AOSP instead of CM, being a CM user for the past 2-3 years. While I was satisfied with the AOSP ROM for the past day or 2, I am now unsure if I will keep it. While performances are good compared to what I was used to, I have some issues. The videos in YouTube are lagging like crazy (although videos in VLC work fine) and the audio stutter sometimes. I listen to a lot of music and each few minutes, it will stutter for a split second. I never had that issue with CM11. Also, I can't find a kernel with bigmem on AOSP. There is the marmite kernel from bedalus which seemed promising, but everyone is having FC with the Google Play Store and BLN/BLD isn't working anymore on this kernel.
How does your ROM compare with CM11 ? I know yours is CM based. Is there less "bloatwares" in yours ? CM install lots of stuff (themes, bugs reporting, etc) and I don't want that. I prefer to use the Xposed Framework instead of a ROM with multiple settings that I don't use. Having a CM based ROM would be nice to be able to flash the Guru kernel.

It basically is CM11, a little less bloated, but similar feature set.. Give it a try, you can always flash another rom if it doesn't suite you.. Slim 5.1 is another favorite of mine, if you'd like to try that one you'll need to search their thread as it wasn't a public release..

Your "Farewell edition" is Kitkat 4.4.4 or 4.4.2 ? So that I can download the appropriate Gapps. I also understand that the Gapps you provide in your thread are a minimal package, so my Nexus S doesn't run out of space (which happened to me few months ago due to the new official Gapps package).
Thanks
