What's the difference in all the SKYICS ROMs? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I hope no one bashes me for asking this because I did read the changelogs. Anyway I'm trying to figure out the differences between the two SKY ICS ROMs, after all, they're both by the same developer but each has a different thread. After checking the change logs I could't tell what the huge differences are, here are the two that I found:
[ROM] SKYICS 4.2E-9 (ULCE2)
[ROM]SKY ICS--- 4.2D-10
Each one is still receiving updates, so what's the difference?

They are built on different ics leaks.

Any significant differences? All I noticed is that SKY ICS 4.2E seems to be based off the Galaxy S3 and SKY ICS--- 4.2D-10 looks slightly more like Galaxy S2 stock with slight alterations, although I could be wrong.

SKY ICS UCLD2 BASE is UCLD2 modem
SKY ICS 4.2E is ULCE2 modem
Each one has different features. the 4.2e is the newest. Meaning he updates that one. I don't think hes updating the UCLD2 one anymore. Hope that helps.

SKY ICS 4.2E is the best ROM I've ever used. Fast, amazing battery life, stable. Highly recommended.

First off, THANK YOU for posting this in the Q&A section instead of the development threads
As others have mentioned, they're based on different ICS leaks. 4.2E is the most recent leak. It's still getting updates, while D will not. D works fine and was very good in my experience, but I'm using E and it's AMAZING.
If you want a stable ROM and don't want to worry about updates, go with D.
If you want a ROM that's already awesome and getting frequent updates, go with E. I recommend E.

You're right, he's been including S3 software in E, as it recently became available. D includes Apex Launcher, E does not.

Currently using the E version and I don't plan to switch to anything else, it's superb especially his detail to updating and constantly adding minor tweaks. Thanks to everyone for the info.

I highly doubt it will run on gb... SAMSUNG can't even roll out and update in a timely manner. I'm sure all their development energy is focused on future ics builds.

Grabbed the zip and flashed in cwm but didn't install.
Manually extracted the zip to system/app and system/lib and running nice and smooth. Not a single issue.
Did notice that it included some widgets... I don't know if they are required but don't cause any issues frozen with TiBu.

[ROM] Which ICS stable ROM you recommend

Hi,
I see that its a while since that question has been posted ..So i'm asking it again.
I'd like to know which rom running ICS you guys like the most as i just got my Rogers SII LTE.
Also which modem you run (Rogers users).
Thanx for your posts and feedbacKs.

Haven't tried the venom kernel but I've got Instigators kernel loaded over cm9 on wife's Skyrocket and she loves it. She's very picky about things working right, so her silence is a very good indicator that its a good rom/kernel combo

I've been rockin seans sky ics roms since the very first ics leak, and his dragon base ( completely stripped down version with flashable zips for almost everything he took out) on the official AT&T build is second to none in my opinion. He updates very frequently so he keeps my savage need for flashing fulfilled
-typed erratically from my hacked and customized GS2 SR
Embryo 4.1
Embryo 4.1 has been my favorite, least buggy rom.. but I'd recommend running it with the stock kernel and not Cymbaline. I've seen a couple of users have issues with battery life using Cymbaline kernel, including myself.
CM9 RC2 with stock kernel, running perfectly on both a i727r and i9000m
I also run Embryo 4.1 and absolutely love it. The developer did a nice job with this ROM, nothing half baked and does update it. No bugs, very fast, battery is good and lots of features.
Is there anybody using Paranoid?
..So far i find it pretty good.
Any feedback?

Yeah but Indroid has beats audio and audio FX which is really awesome:laugh:. I didn't find any improvement on music in CM9.. and I didn't find CM9 laggy either..! CM9 occupies lesser space than InDroid, as InDroid has a lot of apps.. some are unnecessary. .like s2 settings. .so I opened the InDroid.zip file on 7zip and deleted the apps i don't want and flashed it again. . luckily it worked
cm9 is the best for me daily usage.

Cm7, cm9 or Ics are unofficial beta roms so they are buggy. Those who said they are the best are good liers.
Fanciful roms which imitate iPhone or ICS have overheads. soon, you will find it to become slower and slower.
Value or cut down versions have compromises but they are fast.
It is a question of performance vs features. I will go for speed so 6 is my choice. Battery life and stability are also my prime concerns.

i think dhiru's cm9 is faster than others ....
Each custom Roms have their own limitations and bugs, especially ICS Roms.
I suggest u weigh each rom on ur own and install the one that is best suited to ur daily usage requirement.
in my personal view, CM9a11 is good as well as RemICS.
Although RemICS will have battery drain problem, use vurrut kernal on RemICS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653795) and u will have a good battery.
Rem-JB v2 isn't bad either, been using it as everyday rom. Suprisingly smooth considering it is still alpha 1JB by Dhiru. Found litle bug here n there but nothing annoying.

[Q] (Q) Most Stable Non-Touchwiz ICS ROM?

Hi there,
I just got the Rogers S2 LTE for my wife. I rooted the phone and am looking to install a Non-Touchwiz ICS ROM for her. There seems to be many great ROMS for this phone but it is a little overwhelming, I've been using the HTC Desire Z and Inspire and this is my first taste of Samsung Smartphones. I'm currently using Ice Cold Sandwich AOKP for my Inspire and really like it. Can anyone recommend something similar for the Skyrocket? I've tried the stable version of CM9 and like it but want to know what else is available. I would like something that is stable as she will be using it as a daily ROM. Any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks.
Please read through the threads for the various ROMs and make your own decisions. "Best" threads like this one are not allowed because they lead to flaming and migraines.

As far as non-tw goes, aokp (I believe milestone 6 was the latest ics build) or cm9 are probably your best bets.
Not sure if you've seen it but there is a list of ICS ROMs in vincom's sticky here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999
I would go through them for options and see what appeals if ICS is important for you. I had good results with Magic Whiz R2, which you might like as a tweaked version of CM9. You're not going to see a lot of dev effort around ICS based ROMs, most have switched focus to JB and with the new CM10 nightlies for the skyrocket even more so (you might consider that too if you like CM9).

[Q] Beta ROM's ? Why development stuck in alpha?

Hmm.. Grateful to all the developers, but, was just wondering, why the development of 4.1 and 4.2 stuck in alpha 5 stage for so long, is the development halted? Anywhere else we can get a more stable ROM? Will the development continue, is it time to sell our i9003?
You do know this is a 3 year old phone, don't you? i9003 started with Froyo and have managed to survived GB, ICS and now at JB. Meaning 3 generations of Android.. Isn't that something you should celebrate on? It's still fairly acceptable on v2.x kernel and is very unstable on v3.x.. Yes, sad to say, if you gonna enjoy further Android development, get yourself an Android with v3.x kernel...
It is alpha for a reason: Every version has bugs like Bluetooth not working perfectly (or at all), recording a video in 720p or the lack of hardware composite. Kernel 3.0x is very unstable and not even recommended for daily usage, so developers had estimated that the kernel 3.0x is in Alpha state and that the JB and ICS also be in alpha state with the 2.3.6 kernel. IMHO Iosco roms (that has a couple of bugs) its among the best and you could use it daily without FC or the like.
Development has not stopped, Dhiru, who is working in 3.0x kernel said that IRL problems keep him from working but that development will resume eventually.
In the 2.3.6 side of things, Iosco has ironed out a couple of bugs with JB but a couple remains.
I'm confident that some day will have a Stable kernel with JB, we are not that far away.
