If i can unlock the S3 while rooted can i unlock it on a stock factory not rooted S3? Is there any way we can unlock it without being rooted?
I don't think so. You need the image that ez-unlock installs when you unlock for the 1st time. plus ez-unlock backs up the stock image so you can relock and than return back to stock with odin.

Need help
I'm abroad now, and need to unlock my Verizon S3.
After rooted by RootDebugfs then using EZ-Unlock, it still gives me " Non Verizon sim" for the Vodafone sim.
I've tried several times to to uninstall then reinstall the EZ-unlock for both versions 1.4 & 1.2 but the problem still exist.
At last I uninstalled both Ez-unlock and Super Su.
hope to get rescue.

EZ-Unlock unlocks the boot loader, not the SIM or whatever is involved in unlocking the phone. Same term, but not referring to the same thing. It doesn't carrier unlock your phone. I'd offer some assistance with that, but I'm not too familiar with it.
p.s.
For future reference, you should be sure of what an app does before using it.
still need help

Thank you my dear friend, but what can I do to use other SIM than the Verizon one ?
Can some one help in detailed steps what to do?
I cannot for the life of my get root access to this phone, its a refurb shipped to me as a warranty replacement, so its basically new, with all the OTA updates already applied, I have tried all the links to root, like the One Clicks etc, even tried the One_X_ATT_All-In-One_Kit_v1.1, when I try to do it manually, I used ADB Shell, and it connects ok, I can see files etc on the system partition, but when I type SU, it says file not found, when I copied SU files to the SD card and tried to run it from there, it says permission denied. This phone seems to be locked right down!
Android Version : 4.0.3 Full build number is 1.94.631.3 CL76063 release-keys
I have tried everything I could think of, and have searched the forums, I just cannot find a solution... Any help would be appreciated...

unlock your bootloader through HTC-Dev (all other models)
flash twrp
flash superuser from recovery downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
None of the AT&T root solutions apply to you, or any other carrier version of the One X/XL except AT&T. For the AT&T version, we need to have root in order to spoof the CID and get bootloader unlock via HTCDev.com. This is because AT&T is blocking HTC for allowing the bootloader to be unlocked (and the only carrier to do so).
You can skip all that and just unlock the bootloader via HTCDev.com (as mentioned in the reply above). Then install custom recovery (TWRP) and flash SU to achieve root. Or alternately, flash a rooted ROM.

So what you are saying is that I do not have to change my CID or root before unlocking boot loader?
I got my identifier token and am going to submit it... I just saw another response, looks like I have it easy and was looking way too hard... the first time I rooted my phone I DID have to spoof my CID etc, thus the confusion...
Thanks guys!

I got my Xperia J on contract on march for two years on Three, It's locked and on my bootloader thing it says Bootloader Unlocked allowed: No, how would I unlock my bootloader? and can I root my phone without unlocking my bootloader? I want to root my phone to add custom roms and to overclock my phone. So could anyone answer my question please?

If it says bootloader unlock not allowed , then i doubt there is a safe way to unlock it.
Nearly every method to unlock such a bootloader are shown only for 2011 devices and i have heard 2012 devices have been patched to stop an unlock by that method.
Also those methods involve certain hardware modifications using bare wires and finding the debug port.
Such methods are highly risky and may damage your phone.

Yes you can root without unlocked bootloader, Framaroot worked without any issues for me, and i don't see any reason why it shouldn't work for you.

You can install Stock based custom ROMs without a unlocked bootloader.
This might help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2237164
And regarding Non-stock based custom ROMs and overclocking, they are kernel mods and to flash a new kernel you need an unlocked bootloader, sorry

I've searched up and down and all around for a guide but I have yet to find a way to root or unlock the boot loader for the xt1045. Ive tried towelpieroot, sunshine, framaroot and king root and still havent had any success. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?
You can't even root the XR1045 by cricket (ATT/AIO) or even unlock the bootloader with a PC. I have the same variant. ATT will not let you unlock the bootloader and even the Motorola forums say it can never be unlocked. I hope there is some sort of bypass to fix this

The same thing is happening to me but my bootloader has been unlocked before. I re-locked it because I unchecked developer options. Now that I want to root my device and require my bootloader open, the button to check and uncheck is dark grey and is refusing to check the option.
PLEASE GIVE ADVICE/HELP.
Is there any updates in this topic?
I've been struggling with this problem since a week now, my phone is working, but I don't have original IMEIs, SN, and I locked my bootloader again by accident. Now I can't unlock it, it says: Unlock failed...
Is there any solution for this?
Or any other methods for unlocking the bootloader apart from the regular methods (fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flashing unlock etc.)?

May be we can try! PM me.
Fortunately, I've solved it by reflashing proinfo, and other partitions. It was quite a long time ago, so I don't really remember it, but I managed to solve it after a few days/weeks of struggling.
