I am an IT and not a developer but I have a client I need to customize the cheap WM8650 tablet. The client wants to create a custom ROM that would be "lock". The end user will be only able to access the browser with the client's custom page. After some business transaction, the end user will be given a code to unlock the device to have full access to it.
If anybody interested on making extra cash, please contact me.
What are features and spec of this tablet explain in detail.

That sounds do-able
What kind of level of security are you needing in order to ensure the transaction is "properly" completed?
Just something to be aware of, given Android is quite open, and someone suitably skilled can probably (read will, given the motivation/time) find a way round anything added.

Hi there!
I've a special request: my company has developed a special tracking & communication software for the HTC p3300 (in fact we assigned someone to do so).
Now we should be able to set up hundreds of devices for our clients.
This could be done by semi-automatic installing of the software.cab.
But: the goal is to have a own rom-version to flash the devices in one simple step, with the advantage of the additional option of an "all-resetting hard reset out in the wild" in the case of some inexplainable errors...
Who is interested in accepting this order?
Get in contact (see my email below)
Thanks a lot

Heads up, you may have legal issues to issue roms as such for your company to distribute.
Why not just start a portal site for your company. Assign them accounts where they can log in and have it automatically install the cab.
Legal issues?
In which legal issues do you think?
We're buying the devices directly from the manufacturer (unfortunately too less for getting a rom-mod there).
So I think we are free to do with our devices, what we like. They are not binded/locked to any provider.
And the theme "warranty" and familiar is handled in our policies...
The enduser of our device will just use it, but will not be able to perform some Updates by his own. So we have to build up our system "dau-secure"..
;-)

I need a developer to help me create a insulation estimation form with input from the salesman for an end product that will create a emailable form to the end user (buyer)
Details:
I have a PDF created with the layout, so visually the design is already there.
What I need is someone capable of creating a database for the insertions of pricing and materials that the app can pull from. This database needs to be changeable for changes in pricing and other options. The form needs to be able to use the database to create an end estimation that has the option to email. I would also like to be able to attach photos from the device to estimation when emailing.
I am intending this for use on a honeycomb tablet such as the Xoom or the Iconia.
If you or someone you know is capable or interested in producing such an app for me, please PM with your/their information so that I can get in contact. I am looking to get this project done asap and am not looking to distribute this via market yet (we will talk about that as well)
I do not have the technical ability to do this so I deffinantly need the right person/presons.
Thanks,
George
*Mods: if this is posted in the wrong place I apologize, couldn't find a more suitable forum.
Hello XDA,
My client, which is a company based in NYC is looking for a serious developer to help create their own "closed OS" (think Amazon.. etc).
Knowing how many insanely amazing devs are on XDA I figured i'll give it a shot
Please see the ad below:
We are looking to design a company only closed system tablet.
The tablet will be used by our employees and should be restricted to company specific apps.
Users will have no access to the full options / settings of the system, will not be able to install anything.. etc.
The system we are looking for:
• Closed OS system that will only run specific apps. Users should have no access to well.. anything but the apps we need on it. (think Amazon tablets).
• Ability to push updates and notifications.
• Ability to remote manage the device.
• Multiple interfaces (2 to start with) – based on the login.
• We are open to device suggestions, whatever will make development easier. 8-10”.
The person we are looking for:
• Local - We are based in NYC (Manhattan) and would like someone that we can work face to face with.
• Professional and knowledgeable – You need to know the Android system inside out, or at least well enough to strip / adjust features as needed.
• Have time – We need someone who can dedicate the time needed, when needed (within reason of course). Would like to have an alpha version ready within 2-3 months (again, if possible).
• Must be allowed to work in the U.S.
You will be required to sign an NDA and non-compete during the first meeting.
Interested ?
Shoot me a PM with a little info about yourself and an email you can be reached.
And please, serious inquires only, this is a paid project which will be on going for a long time if it works out.
Thanks everyone!
Hi all, first of all I would like to introduce myself as I am new to this site.
I am studying Mobile Software Development and as part of my Study I do have an project to complete that I am not sure how I should start with.
In project itself shouldn't be a big deal ( I hope), but I am not sure where I should start coding etc.
That app can be as simple as possible as I am not worrying about UI, but functionality.
To the point. I need to write an mobile app that will allow me deposit money from my bank account into the app and withdraw them back successfully.
I have made some project planning and the below are my concerns:
1. Application need to allow user to create Username and password to their account (username cannot be duplicated, e-mail address cannot be duplicated)
2. Which deposit method will be the best (paypal like or debit card based - including card details, owner name, security code and expiry date)
3. What kind of security should I use ( keep in mind that as project purpose this will not be released to the market, but in theory as Windows app this should get some security solutions from Windows Store, is this correct?)
4. Does any database need to be created?
4.1 If so, I believe this will require server solution installed.
I am asking this questions as fully working application even if will handle only myself as user will need to be supported by documentation explaining what, where, why and what for.
I hope that you will be able to give me some advices and this can become quite interesting thread.
I would like to thank you in advance for any help given.

Email encryption easy...
Found On fdroid under k9/p=p
Claims it works with your existing email account
But I have not found out how it works yet
Our how the foundation is set up.
And that's the kind of thing I like to know before I install
Anyone have any experience with them?
Personally, if you are looking for encrypted email... I'd choose Proton Mail any day of the week over p=p.
p=p just doesn't seem anywhere near the security of Proton. But that's just my opinion. Test it out and let us know how you like it. It's always nice to have options!
I'm just not at the point where I want my email provider to supply my email program.
Don't get me wrong it's not a bad idea..
(I like that it's open source, that's always good)
But I would much rather have encryption all on me and my device..
And I can pick and choose what provider I'm using.
I don't love the idea of being locked into anything...

hey @nutpants , i know you are more knowledgeable than me (and know how to search.lol) but i did find this link for p=p. you can email them i beleive.
https://prettyeasyprivacy.com/integrate/
"err on the side of kindness"
I found the instructions
https://www.prettyeasyprivacy.com/docs
I wish that people would stop hosting instructions online and include manuals with the installs.I mean seriously how much space will it take?
I will be doing some time reading everything carefully..
But would love opinions from everyone else.
Basically it appears to create extradition keys between users of the app automagiclly and then encrypt everything by default when possible.
Much like text secure was doing for text.
Hopefully things like this will become a standard for email.
(With a common method of encryption so no one it tied to just one particular email app)
And we will see more applications that can be used to encrypt mail.
I'm going to do some testing
Well ive done a little testing.
And honesty I'm looking what I see.
Sure this is in early stages and early days.
But it appears that it is as simple as they suggest.
I could even get my least technical buddies to use this email encryption.
I have not seen it try to contact anything except my mail server.
And it does not require contracts out other erroneous permissions (it asks but you can block it and no crashes(at least for me)
It's works automagiclly.
If you exchange emails with someone who is using pep (I think it's stupid that they have the three lines between the p's why not just have the E)
It figures that out and starts exchange of public pgp keys.
Art that point your messages title bar have a yellow background do you know encryption is taking place.
After you verify the "code words" with your correspondent (by voice so you verify who you are taking to is who you are really taking to(or any other method you desire)
Your messages get a green title bar do you know encryption is going on with a verified user..
So simple even a grandpa can understand it.
It uses pgp for encryption so you know it's good
Right now it's pretty basic and there are few encryption options
But they plan ad more features as time goes on
I'm liking what I'm seeing and I will do more testing and will keep an eye on this to see how fast it matures.
The only real con at the moment it that there is no way to secure the app from running with a password to keep any one who gets their hands on your device from reading everything.
But that's a little minor..
If someone had their hands on your device, you have already broken the golden rule.
This app is simply a fork of K9Mail with a few icons replaced...
It is definitely a fork.
But encryption had been built in, including auto key generation and key exchanges.
K9 is my daily driver.. And I love it.
But pEp makes encryption simple enough for anyone to use..
(As in my grandmother could use it)
When and if it matures to have all the encryption features most advanced users need
(Like easy key import, export, backup, manual key changes)
It may become my daily driver..
Sadly in the world today, encryption is almost mandatory.
And pep is on the way to make that easy for everyone.
