Root and Pimp - Samsung Infuse 4G

some one wants me to root and flash custom rom
so i need to know whats the most stable rom for this thing?

This may sound so much of a cliché, but it's all a matter of preference.
The stable ROMs of which I have tried myself are Zeus (6.0 and ZT-R), Aeon, Emancipation, and Vagabond. These ones are all built from ground-up in my understanding. These are all Gingerbread ROMs (2.3.x).
The Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs vary from AOKP to CM9 ports. It is really a matter of preference.
To get a head start, visit the Development section and check the Super Everything Thread. Everything that you can flash is in there.
Good luck!

Lots of stable, great roms around here...like mentioned.
Why not just have the individual log on here...let them learn the process and allow us to teach them....and you can also teach them....
It will be more rewarding for the person unless you plan on being around them for continue support....

[Q] Best ROM and Kernel combo??

I am looking for some advise on the best combo for the G2X. If I could get some advise or input on the best ROM and Kernel to flash I would really appreciate it. I am looking for something to use for my daily driver. I appreciate your help.

For a daily driver I would suggest EB Froyo. Awesome ROM.
I would suggest to not flash any kernels, stock is the best for now.
The kernels we got are in beta phase and I have experienced freezes and lock ups using them.
Hope that helps

Thanks, I take it you are talking about the AOSP rom?? By the way, What does that stand for anyway?

It stands for "Android Open Source Project"
So basically his ROM is kind of like the base ROM where everyone could start making, and cooking their ROMs.
I flashed his ROM but I like the LG keyboard plus I like the stock camera too, that's the only reason I don't use it as my daily driver, oh and is a big hassle to have to set up everything again.

[Q] Galaxy Skyrocket Custom Rom

Hello All,
I am a total newbie to all of this, I just bought a Galaxy s2 Skyrocket. I managed to find good info on how to root it and did that with something called superoneclick. So it is showing rooted with out the yellow triangle. Now for my question.
There are so many custom roms out there i have no clue what to do. All i am really looking for is a custom rom that will let me do the following if it is possible, wifi tethering, custom bootanimation and if it will let me overclock. And I guess something that is stable as i see mentioned on here a lot.
Anyway anyone that has time to help a newbie I would really appreciate it. There is a lot of great info on here but most of it is written for people that at least have a clue about this stuff.
Most of all i want to say thank you to anyone who is willing to help me in advance. And if you don't feel like helping a newbie I do understand that also.
Thank You
I like skyROCKeteer. It's a good, stable, custom rom. It'll suit all your needs. Check it out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19279400

First of all thank you for your reply. Am I reading this correct that I install version 2.0 and then install the addons and fixes? Or will everything be fine with the 2.0 and the fixes are already in there. Sorry to be so much trouble some of it is just confusing to me and I dont want to brick "i believe that is the correct term" my phone.
Thank You

SkyRocketeer and Sky Ice Cream Sandwich are pretty good. Next one I will be testing out will be the Red Sonja!
Red sonja is the best. Completly stable and fast. Vibrate does not work. But other then that its its perfect.
I'm using Super Stock 2.3.6. It's a rather bare bones ROM that is close to stock but with a few tweaks and removals of stuff like bloatware and other things. Overall I'm satisfied. I'm using this until the AOSP is released and some of the other ROMs become a bit more stable.
I'm using Sky Ice Cream Sandwich, it's my daily driver. Whichever rom you install, make sure you follow the dev's instructions. Only install roms for skyrocket, very important.
Most Roms in the Dev section are Stable-ish.
Red Sonja is probably the MOST stable in my OP.....less vibration, you dont have to do any work arounds, no extra flashing less the 4 intitial flashes( really 2 flashes if you dont want the comic pages)
but after that, everything is working as it would be on stock.
Thank You
First of all again thanks to everyone that gave me advise. I know have my first custom rom on my phone with the addons that looked interesting. Also a custom kernel.
I only have one question if i decide to try another rom, is there a way to go back to the way i have my phone now with out doing each step again. Like if i use the backup feature in CWM, If i do a restore will that put it back the way it is now.
Thank you ALL !!!!!

That's the point of doing the Nandroid backup. It'll restore your phone to how it was. At least that's what it's supposed to do. I honestly can't attest to it because I've never had to do it *knock on wood*

Ice Cream Sandwich Official Vesion

I want to know if available Ice Cream Sandwich Rom's are good or not. Does it have any bugs or it works perfect. If it does I want to know the way to install that rom and also want to know if I could roll back when original updates are available.
I also want to know is it the same UI which HTC will launch and when will it come back.

The search feature is a very nice thing on xda, USE IT. This is maybe the easiest stuff to find out, just by reading stickies...

If you want ICS with Sense as easy as possible, I would recommend ARHD or InserCoint ROMs. But please, take into account that all ICS Sense ROMs are based on leaked betas at the moment. So please, read very carefully before flashing something.
I'm loving ICS ROMS, mainly Virtuous Inquisition and Virtuous Quattro. Really depends what you want though. The ROMS stated above are Senseless ROMS, I personally don't like sense. It is all personal preference. AS far as "are they good," flash the ROMs and see if you like them. All your answers can be found in the forums. Are they going to be close to official ICS releases? Maybe, but keep in mind these are ICS leaks that people are creating, and if they are AOSP, then no not quite what they will officially release for ICS. However, we don't know until release, for the time being, flash a ROM and see if you like it.

Seeing as not everyone browses that section of xda, I recommend any and all to flash away and see for yourself.
This one is definitely too good to pass up..

We all know about it. But its old news. Most of the community including the developers who worked on this rom have moved on to ics. Do love how amazingly stable this rom was but after tasting ics I can't make myself go back to a gingerbread rom

Last time they updated the Rom was last month.
May be old news for some but like I mentioned not everyone visits the Desire HD section.
Gingerbread is just too perfect in terms in overall usability.
One day I might jump ship to ICS, but its just not my time yet as BlackIce is Rom perfection

Yes, I didnt need to flash the InspireMod on BlackIce.
If you have issues definitely look to the InspireMod as mentioned above however.

I've never seen anyone advertising a ROM before. The reply was a joke.

Sorry for the confusion. It's hard to pickup on sarcasm. Lol
Agreed..
Anyways, it's a solid rom.
I alter between AOSP and Sense very often, so on this side, BlackIce along with some tweaks of myself has been my preferred choice.
Rock on mate

A stock based rom. Just so you know if you don't want to do the reading it takes to find a stable rom nobody will help you.
No I know. I have been around here for sometime now as you can see. But I was wondering if there was any hybrid ROMs out there what are somewhat updated, away from stock bases but still stable. There are ROMs out there that are stable that are well known across the board for the phone. Kinda the goto ROM
Also gotta check if ur wife has the 4.3 OTA. TW custom roms the most atable from wat i read. But if u want an AOSP type then i suggest a 4.3 type rom.. Thats saying if ur wife did not take the 4.3OTA

Well I would tell you to flash a stock based rom that has aosp theme and sounds because from my experience with any aosp rom is to unstable for my daily driver. But if your wife isn't as picky as me I think unofficial cyanogen mod 10.2 was stable.
My DD is/was liquidsmooth 2.37 or 2.10 both aosp 4.3 roms. From my experience
