[RESOLVED] changing baseband/unknown baseband/broken audio in calls - T-Mobile LG G2x

These steps are mainly directed at how to use the KDZ program to switch your baseband/fixing unknown baseband.
*I have heard this works on Windows Vista/7 but I personally have only been able to accomplish it through Windows XP*; VMWare running XP and XP Mode also work but make sure the USB is consistently being connected to the XP environment (don't jack around outside it) or the process will hang & require you to start over!*
1. You do NOT need to have stock recovery installed for this to work, it will require you to reflash CWM after though - How to NvFlash CWM Recovery
2. If you are not on a stock ROM prior to doing this your phone will get stuck in a boot loop of the stock T-Mobile animation when the process is finished; until you reflash CWM Recovery and restore a backup
Notes:
[While on a custom ROM and Recovery]
I have had the kdz method hang after the baseband flash but before installing the stock ROM & Recovery, leaving everything but the baseband unchanged; this could happen for you but I recommend making an Nandroid still if you care about losing your current data; similar log of how it will appear if this happens: Baseband flash hangup
[Modem causing process to hang]
The process may hang due to the LG Modem driver, disabling and re-enabling it should fix this (Start --> Run --> devmgmt.msc --> Modems --> LGE Android Platform USB Modem --> Disable/Enable)
Needed files:
T-Mobile G2x Android USB Driver - drivers so your computer recognizes phone
V11H_00.kdz | Mirror 1 - data for the June 05 2011 baseband (WIND MOBILE)
V21E_00.kdz | Mirror 1 | Mirror 2 - data for the July 15 2011 baseband
V21Y_00.kdz | Mirror 1 | Mirror 2 - data for the March 11 2012 baseband
KDZ_FW_UPD_EN - software to install the baseband
APX Drivers & NVFlash - driver and software to flash Clockwork Recovery on your phone again
P999 V10F Nandroid - Nandroid of stock 2.2.2/V10F ROM
P999 V21E Nandroid | Mirror 1 | Mirror 2 - Nandroid of the stock 2.3.3/V21E ROM
P999 V21Y Nandroid | Mirror 1 | Mirror 2 - Nandroid of the stock 2.3.4/V21Y ROM
LGMobile Support Tool - Checks if the LG ROM/Baseband is outdated
Call audio fix for V21E Baseband | Mirror 1 - Fix the audio issue during a call with the V21E baseband on a custom ROM
Call audio fix for V21Y Baseband | Mirror 1 - Fix the audio issue during a call with the V21Y baseband on a custom ROM (So you can still be on CM9 nightlies thanks to owain94)
If you're trying to update from the V21E/July 2011 baseband to the V21Y/March 2012 baseband you should only need the LGMobile Support Tool and be on a stock 2.3.3 ROM to get the new baseband.
Download whichever file(s) you need from above; if you've been crack flashing with your computer already you should only need the KDZ program & the V21E/V21Y baseband file
Install the G2X driver onto your computer
Extract the KDZ_FW_UPD_EN archive and right click the "msxml.msi" file and select Install
Next keep your finger held on the Volume Down button of your phone and connect the USB cable to the phone and computer and wait until your phone displays "S/W Upgrade; if your computer says it detected a device it needs a driver for extract the APX/NvFlash zip and navigate the computer to the APX folder for the driver"
Open the "KDZ_FW_UPD.exe" file and click the folder icon to locate the KDZ file
After you have navigated to the KDZ file select it and push "Launch software update"
The log will instantly show:
Code:
15:54:41 : Launching SW update
15:54:41 : Unpacking KDZ
*The program will hang for a minute or two while it is unpacking the file don't worry!*
After you will see some information similar to this:
Code:
15:54:51 : KDZ file extraced
15:55:08 : Files were extracted.
15:55:08 : LGMobileDL Load.
15:55:08 : Port = 4
15:55:08 : Connecting to phone
15:55:20 : Check Phone mode = 1
The program will pause again for a minute and then this will display:
Code:
15:55:57 : Phone type check.......
15:55:57 : LGMobileDL.DLL Loading....
15:55:57 : _SetAuthMark Fail
15:55:57 : AuthMark°¡ Á¤È®È÷ Phone¿¡ Write µÇÁö ¾Ê¾Ò½À´Ï´Ù!

15:55:57 : _DetachDLL Call
15:55:57 : _DetachDLL Call End
15:55:57 : Param : Path = C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LGMOBILEAX\Phone\V21E.wdb

15:55:57 : Param : BinVersion = V21E_00
15:55:57 : Param : AuthMark = 0
15:55:57 : Call fn_StartUpgrade
Last you will hear your USB disconnect/reconnect multiple times while seeing this spammed; this will keep going until the value of "lParam = 100"
Code:
15:56:07 : CDMA: wParam = 2006, lParam = 0
15:56:07 : Model Dll Msg Not Found(2006, 0)
Once the program has reached 100 your phone will reboot displaying the LG Logo and after a few moments it will boot up running the chosen baseband.

About to do this (http://support.lgforum.com/lg/topics/t_mobile_g2x_update_for_sound_quality) to my phone, to update the baseband and in the name of science.
I'll let you know how it goes.
And then, I'll be flashing over RC3 because as per (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679892) it works with the new baseband.
Wait about an hour or two and I'll have something posted.

Maybe...

Yay! I use a VM of XP too...so much easier

Gotta love XDA's finest. You guys make it hard to actually brick a phone. In the end there will always be a way out of a brick so long as we have XDA developers supporting the device I'm stuck at the S/W Upgrade screen from a failed baseband update using the LG tool and I'm trying this method now. My IParam is scrolling so I'm sure it's doing the job.
Booted and everything's great. It's unfortunate that I restored to a stock ROM and used the LG Tool which failed miserably before using this method instead. I thought this method took more work and look at that, for being hard-headed I ended up having to do more work than I would have had I just done it this way from the beginning.

Lucky me - my "new" replacement phone showed up and I went to work getting it all setup; rooted, ROM loaded, apps and settings - went to make a phone call and experienced what I am assuming to be "the "chirping" sound during a call" cited for the V21Y March 11, 2012 baseband. My settings verified the culprit baseband in question.
I am currently running through TGA_Gunnman's "NANDROID Restore Stock FR 2.22 V10f / GB 2.33 V21e and 2.34 V21y" tutorial to get back to stock and then unroot to follow this one. I am assuming I will need to use the "V21Y_00.kdz - data for the March 11 2012 baseband" but I'm bit unclear on how the "V21Y-BB.Fix.zip" plays into your instructions.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. - THX!

That bb fix zip is what owain made, just flash that to fix the chirping noise if you have it, it's so you can be on the new baseband and also a custom ROM

That sounds good - I am running into trouble with the update however. I get all the way down through a bunch of the IParams till it hits this one -CDMA: wParam = 2010, IParam = 3035
Model Dll Msg Not Found(2010, 3035)where it just hangs indefinitely. Tried it a few times and have a log saved if that would be of any help. I'm using an actual Windows XP machine (not a VM).
Thoughts?
Edit: Why do I get the sinking feeling I could have just flashed the BB fix to begin with? * sigh *

Is the USB connection staying connected? It disconnected around that on me sometimes and I had to retry, you could also try going into device manager and finding the LG Modem and disabling and re enabling it really quick (if the process hanged at a specific area during the Param spamming session longer than a minute it basically timed out, at least for me)
You said you were on the March baseband so why are you flashing it again? You need to V21E if you're switching. V21E July 15 2011/ V21Y March 11 2012 are the basebands.
You probably did just need to flash the bb fix zip that's why I mainly mentioned that :/ been at work so I'm sorry I haven't been able to be more clear

Yeah - I ran the LG tool just to confirm my suspicions... guess I should have done that first. I did quite a bit of searching on the issue before deciding to nuke but didn't find the info spelled out for me (I'm still a rather "step by step" n00b, unfortunately)
It all works out though - The Eaglesblood ROM I was/am using updated since the version I installed Tuesday. It not only included the fix but a sweet install interface that did a lot of the leg work for me! - I am up and running great now! I used Titanium Backup Pro so the setup process wasn't quite so laborious.
Thanks for the help - and responses from work

When I'm doing this to get from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 for the y21y BB the kdz update will get to the part where it says
15:56:07 : CDMA: wParam = 2006, lParam = 0
15:56:07 : Model Dll Msg Not Found(2006, 0)
But a few seconds later it will give me a runtime error.
Edit:
To be exact this is the full error.
Runtime Error!
Program: ...gs\administrator\desktop\stuff\kdz fw upd\kdz_fw_upd.exe
abnormal program termination
Edit2:
Decided to run VMware and windows xp on my desktop to see if it was just my laptop and lo behold it was something with my laptop.
It is currently installing and will come back to this if anything goes wrong or have in opinions.

Works fine for me. I just downgrade it to July baseband.
USB cable -> make sure you use the original cable from LG.
1st time flashing -> use Nokia cable -> failed -> stuck at Iparam=40++. (CWM is not removed). After reboot. The Phone Shows BB as July and bluetooth for car is working again. (So eventhough its stuck, the BB is already showing as July)
2nd time flashing -> use original LG cable -> works fine until Iparam=100. (CWM is removed when the program completed).
Thanks

I kept getting "mod uptestex mfc has stopped working" with vista. I needed to use VMware to run XP and then I was finally able to get it to downgrade to July 2011. Also once it gets to 100 you need to just unplug the phone because it will continue to bootloop until you install CWM and flash a rom or restore a nandroid. If you are doing this to get Bluetooth working in CM7.2 you will need to reflash 7.2 over your current 7.2 or you will have no call audio.

I am trying to flash v21y using the KDZ_FW_UPD tool
I am getting the error phone not found?

In Device Manager under Modems make sure LGE Mobile USB Modem is enabled it will appear in there when the phone is connected and in the S/W Upgrade screen.
I tried this again on a fresh install of XP on my VMWare and it went fine..the KDZ Program should have "Type: CDMA" and "PhoneMode: DIAG" (should be default) as the options also, in case you messed with it.

really works with unknown baseband

Dumb enough to get in trouble, smart enough to not make it worse
So, thought I was slick, I'm not, I'm a noob. Tmobile G2x in North America (Dallas, to be exact.) Was running 2.3.4 stock.
Downloaded & installed EAGLESBLOOD™ ICS AOSP [4.0.4]. Unfortunately, despite some thought of "was there a warning about this? I think I saw something somewhere" I did flash the baseband radio during the install.
Phone runs fine now, just have the dreaded click/thump noise and limited data. Can't make calls
Searched and found this thread. Looks like the cure but I'm unclear:
- Do I have to go back to stock (and if so, is there any concensus on which method to follow. I've seen several different threads)
- If I follow this thread, which files do I download/install? When I pull up "About Phone" I have baseband version M6600A-SCAUTNZ-2.0.9720T 1 [Mar 11 2012]
I'm sorry for my ignorance but I thought I'd ask before I install something and only make my problems worse.
Thanks,
Jeff

Flash the rom again and when it gives you the option for baseband, click the 21y option. That'll fix the calling issue.

LG Mobile Drivers no longer connect

I am starting this thread separately from the locked on S/W and other threads because I have on possibly fatal issue.
I have had an increasingly hard time connecting my locked on S/W screen device to two different computers and having it recognized. I have reinstalled the drivers and constantly restarted the phone, but have reached a point where I just cannot get it connected anymore.
On this issue only - looking for suggestions.
When asking fof help with software you need to provide more detail, os... driver version... detailed error description... screen shots.
In addition its possible the cable itself is causing problems.

Have tried different cables - no effect. LG Mobile Driver versions tried were 2.2 3.01 and latest - 3.21. Have problems on 32 bit W7 AND XP machines.
No screen shots - was being shown in "My Computer' and connected OK initially - now not at all. I look at Device Manager and there are LG USB and other devices that show up - really has me stumped.
because you havent specified I'm going to assume you're trying to update using the kdz tool, can you post the log?
people have been most successful on XP, do your troubleshooting on that machine. Provide screenshots of the device manager and detail the state of your phone... which recovery you have and what you've done to it.

You want a log from kdz tool - will that show any specifics of the connection problem, or just show that it doesn't? I am back on stock recovery (but still rooted - difference of opinion as to if it matters). Also on stock ROM for the update.
I am trying to connect to the tool. I sometimes just try the LG Updater to see if it connects - no dice. When I was on CWM recovery, I could normally access the device and SD files - it is in the S/W updater mode that I am having all the issues.
At this point, the only reason I am trying to flash with the kdz tool is that it may be only path out of this mess. If I could somehow break out of the S/w Updater screen through another way - would gladly try it.
The kdz tool will work for this if drivers have been properly installed, unfortunately in your case there is a conflict and you haven't provided enough detail to get help....
Post the log and some screenshots of device manager so we can see what's going on.

Thanks for your offer to continue to look at this, but it has became too much of a pain and a replacement is due Monday.
The connection went steadily downhill after the S/W Update screen lock. Uninstalled and reinstalled a number of driver versions. If the problem is as I believe with the locked device, there would be no way to access anything.
NVFlash (without the battery in) connects OK, so I have used the one click root to format the internal card, factory wiped the rest (it has froyo on it), and stock recovery is back on. Could not get in to ADB anymore - so could not unroot.

[Q] PLEASE HELP with Faulty IFX Modem

Hi Everyone,
I've been given a friends phone to repair which he got with 'no emie' number showing, hence no signal. ClockwordMod recovery works fine and you can flash any custom 21e rom.
I've tried everything below on both an XP and Win 7 machine. All the procedures work fine on my P920 but fail on his. Both phones are running the same rom and kernel with 'Software Version: LGP920-V21e-Apr-19-2012' and 'Baseband version: L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00'.

[Method/Attempt: 1]
At first I assumed it was a simple case of restoring the imei number with 'tutty' using this guide:
[GUIDE] Unlock Phone / Recover IMEI
With my working P920 connected, when I switch the port settings to 'CP Image Download' the new driver is installed and everything in the terminal window works as it should:
When selecting 'CP Image Download' on the faulty P920, you get one beep where it disconnects and no new hardware is detected or drivers installed. All the connection the connections detected when it connected in developer mode are all gone from device manager. Hence, there are no working ports for Tutty to use. As expected, when trying to connect to a port detected in dev mode without switching the port settings to 'CP Image Download', tutty's blue terminal window either gives an error or doesn't respond to any keyboard input.
I next tried re-flashing a baseband in download mode using two different versions of SmartFlash. Both give a 'Timeout error' when trying to connect to the IFX Modem.
Mine flashed without any problems:
[Method: 2]
I next attempted to return to stock using the LG Flash Toolk files via The Dark Lestat's guide:
[GUIDES/TOOLS]Making Developing/Flashing/Returning to Stock Easier
The 1st attempt was with V21D_00.kdz but it kept hanging at Step : TYPE_WPARAM_IFX_DN_POS and failing at 30%.

After several hours and many attempts! it can boot boot both into Normal Download mode and omapboot Download Mode (Button with yellow arrows followed by Korean letters). No matter which download mode I try, the LG Flash Tool gives an error after trying to communicate with the IFX Modem:
I have tried contacting others who have had similar issues but not had any replies.
Questions:
Would the modified USB cable help with the LG Flashing tool?
Assuming this is a hardware issue and only LG can repair it, is there any way of returning to stock V21E rom without root via clockworkmod recovery and then replace cwm recovery so there's no sign of it having been rooted?
I would appreciate any pointers or advice!
Try to flash prada baseband it is under IMEI tutorial with lg flash tool. Then see what is your IMEI an try insert old one with hyperterminal.
I woud first flash 21kdz and do factory reset so you know that AP part is ok. Then flash baseband only CP file.

Hi iodak, and thanks for the reply! If you're referring to the 'LGP940_CP.fls' baseband file, that was one of the first things I did (method 1 in OP). Just tried it again and getting the same error!
The IMEI is blank.
When the port setting 'CP Image Download' is selected, the connection to the phone is lost. The terminal window does not respond because the 'Intel USB Flash loader utility' is not detected, hence no driver and no port for it to communicate with the phone.

Also tried that (Method 2 in OP), keeps hanging when trying to communicate with the IFX Modem and fails shortly after.
Flashed several different kdz files on my own P920 without any probelms
Tried it with the 910K Ohm resistor between pins 4 and 5 of the USB cable but still the same.
Not had a chance to test the cable as I've lent out my multimeter to a friend.
Given it to a friend that has an Octopus box to try and repair the IMEI that way.
Hi, i have the exact same problem with my p920 and tried the same ways without success.
Could you solve the problem somehow? Octopus box?
Thanks, Krisz

Hi Krisztián, unfortunately the Octopus box didn't work. It failed to detect the phone in both 'Modem' or 'OMAP' modem. Also tried modifying the original LG USB cable with both a 910k resistor and a 56k resistor (as suggested by Furious Gold) without any luck. Hence pointing to a hardware fault!
The problem with the documented method of restoring the imei is that the corrupt/damaged ifx modem prevents the phone from going into 'CP Image Download' mode and thus allowing Windows to detect and install the 'Intel USB Flash Loader utility' so that Tutty can write/flash a new imei number to the modem.
As a work around you can try putting the phone into a mode whereby it iss ready to be flashed aka 'omapboot Download Mode' (Button with yellow arrows followed by Korean letters). Follow steps 2 to 9 in this guide by xbsall: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836

Then:

Open Tutty (or hyper terminal) and select serial protocol. Click on open
Type AT if response is not OK, change port number (it is possible that when typing you don’t see any letters)
Type at%imei, it should display a dummy IMEI
Type at%imei=x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x where x,x,x... is your orginal IMEI number (found under the battery of your phone). It should response IMEI WRITE OK
Reboot phone

If it works, try doing the "Extra Step for P920 User's" in xbsall's guide.
Hope that helps and let me know how you get one.
Hi Guan,
Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not work.
I can put the phone into download mode. (volume up +cable+power button), after that the computer recognize it correctly.
Com port is changed to 41, i connect with tutty to the com41 of the phone, but there is no response after.
I can not give any command, only the green cursor is there. (i tried to type and press enter even like this but no response.)
So what do you say? is this phone now equal to an ipod touch? only hardware fix can solve it?
Thanks, Krist

Hi n3fta, is there any signs of physical damage on yours? Also what ROM and baseband do you have installed?

There is no physical damage to the phone it looks brand new. The phone is on 20c just a stock gingerbread rom, I'm not sure about the baseband. I purchased this phone from ebay with missing IMEI after losing mine. I was aware of the restore IMEI thread so when I noticed this particular phone for $100 I thought it was a bargain and figured I could repair it in 10 minutes...I was wrong.
I've tried flashing the phone every way I know how and it hangs at waiting for IFX Modem no matter what I do. I'm really hoping this is just a software issue and there is no damaged hardware, but I'm beginning to have my doubts.
I decided to uninstall all drivers and now I cannot install the OMAP drivers. The phone will not go into download mode at all, nor does it vibrate like it should when going into download mode, I probably should have mentioned that the phone has not vibrated like it was going into download mode since I started messing with it. OMAP just keeps flashing over and over when I plug the device in with no battery, but does not appear once battery is inserted. I had no problem at all getting my old phone into download mode, so I suspect this has something to do with our problem.
Just noticed I can flash roms using CWM. I'm now on Thiaz but it has made no difference, is there anyway we can flash fls files using CWM? Not sure if it would help or not just throwing it out there.
Listen bro if map flashes its OK it happens to me and if it doesn't vibrate in download mode that's OK ...just install all the drivers again and restart your PC and the start again and flash a gb with LG flash tool..wish u the best and give feedback so we can help u.

Well I installed drivers again and it appears to be going into download mode and device manager shows LGE CDMA USB SERIAL PORT (COM41)
It still will not get past waiting for IFX Modem, even when trying to use the WKParks Omap for fastboot it doesn't ever get past waiting, every other program hangs at waiting for IFX Modem.
Try another PC with windows 7 and try another cable

I have tried using windows 7 and another cable but it's still not working.
My problem is the exact same as the OP of this thread. IFX Modem not responding and no new device being installed in tutty.
Still having this problem, anybody have any idea what the problem might be?
I cannot restore IMEI unless I can get a connection in putty but no new device is being installed when I dial 3845#*920# and select cp image download or cp usb. I have tried this on 3 different PC's XP, Win7 32 and Win7 64 the result is always the same...no new device installed.
When trying to restore using LG Mobile Software it always crashes at 15% during installation.
LG Flash Tool and Smart Flash both fail at waiting for IFX modem.
Using the KDZ installer it always errors out early in the installation process.
Is there any other way to restore my IMEI? Are there any alternate methods of communication with tutty or hyperterminal?
Would going back to Froyo possibly help? I would have tried it by now but can't find a zip version of the rom to install and the only way I can install roms is through CWM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How to talk to the Modem with AT commands from the phone
I have noticed that when using a working Optimus 3d in device manager I see LG USB CDMA Serial Adapter or something to that effect, when using my non working phone I only get LG Mobile USB Serial Port. Without CDMA serial port I cannot update using Smart Flash, Flash Tool or LG Mobile Software Updaete.
I have exactly the same problem as n3fta...IFX modem not connecting...i did all the methods too..all the same errors.
The phone was working when i got it. I rooted it and installed clockworkmod but i was for p920, not for mine p920h. So when it rebooted it was in Lg logo loop. I used fastboot v0.5 to get it back alive and installed some ROMs but all with no IMEI or signal.
Is there a solution?

Is there a way we can get a full backup with someone that has the same phone working and load it on clockworkmod recovery? Or would it be like cloning the phone or something like this? Sorry, im a bit new on this area.
@berthilbl
I exhausted every software repair option before returning it to my friend, hence, it was definitely a hardware fault. Even Octopus box refused to detect the modem, even with the official LG flashing cable for the P920 (similar to the modded one in this thread but with a different ohm resistor). As it was on GB when I got it, the baseband had been flashed some time after it had shipped. Hence, it wasn't shipped with the fault as a bad batch but developed it later.
You mentioned that yours is a P920h flashed with cwm for the P920. Have you tried returning to stock recovery?
If all else fails, there are several video's on youtube showing how to dismantle the P920. It might be worth taking a look at the circuitry. May turn out to be something simple like a dry joint or just a loose connection.

P506 LG THRIVE Complete Emergency/Unbrick/revert to stock v11h/root & cwm

LG THRIVE EMERGENCY MODE/BRICK FIX/REVERT TO STOCK v11H Firmware/How to root after unbrick & revert/install CWM
***I want to make a few things completely clear:
1. THIS IS FOR THE LG THRIVE (P506GO) ONLY.
2. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR FURTHER BRICKING OF YOUR DEVICE (however I have not had any issues and I have done this many times)
3. I do not know where I found this procedure originally, however I have seen it posted around the web a few times. So I cannot actually give credit to anyone because I do not know who i got it from or who came up with it originally, So I apologize.
4. I did not make any of the files.
5. I did this because I am sure there are other people that have spent hours, upon hours, upon hours trying to figure this out, and my wife drives me nuts and I figure other spouces have been driven nuts, so here you go. If you like it, use it, if you dont, then dont.
This procedure will work for ANY LG THRIVE THAT STILL COMES UP IN EMERGENCY MODE, If your phone shows up as a QCUSB_DLOAD or something to that effect in device manager this will not work, This will also work for anyone wanting to fully revert back to stock 2.2.2 v11H. This is also safe to the effect it will not mess up your NV partition (there is another unbrick guide that you run the risk of screwing up your NV and then you wont have cell service after the unbrick).
That being said on with how to do it!
Download these files first
CUSTOM KDZ v11h
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN38AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.8.1.exe
LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix
Unbrick Solution
1. If your phone is plugged in to the comp, unplug it. Remove the back off the phone and remove battery, do not worry it will be fine. Now set it to the side, we don't need it just yet.
2. Install the LG UNITED MOBILE DRIVER from the file you downloaded.
3. WE ARE NOT INSTALLING ANYTHING ON THIS NEXT STEP THIS IS MERELY TO HELP US ELIMINATE A PROBLEM. If your phone automatically boots into emergency mode then go ahead and plug it in (for those stuck in bootloop or just wanting to revert press and hold back + Volume up and then plug in the usb) and let the drivers install. Once that is done go to Device Manager (Start->run-> type devmgmt.msc and press enter.) expand the modems section and disable (DO NOT UNINSTALL) the LGE USB MODEM (See pic below). It will ask you to restart your computer, DONT.

4. Disconnect the phone from the computer.
5. Extract the contents of the LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix to it's own folder.
6. open the folder to which you extracted those files then open the KDZ_FW_UPD_EN folder
7. XP Users: just double click the KDZ_FW_UPD.exe/Vista,7,8 users right click and run as administrator.
8. Set Type to 3GQCT and PhoneMode to Emergency (others tell you to set it to diag, dont.)
9. Click the little folder with the curved arrow above it to the right of the KDZ file and select the custom_lg_thrive.kdz file you downloaded earlier. Leave the program open.
10 EVERYONE MUST DO THIS STEP EXACTLY WHETHER YOU BOOT AUTOMATICALY INTO EMERGENCY OR NOT! Plug your battery back in, then press and hold the back button + Volume Up + Power. Release ONLY POWER once the thrive starts and then release back and volume up once your in emergency.
11. NOW PLUG YOUR PHONE BACK INTO THE USB!
12. Hit Launch Software update. If it says phone isnt found, first verify the LGE MODEM driver in device manager is still disabled, if it is disconnect phone and then plug it back in without rebooting and hit start upgrade again, it should work this time. IF THE WINDOW FREEZES DO NOT PANIC IF IT GIVES YOU A MESSAGE SAYING ITS FROZEN CLICK WAIT on VISTA/7/8 (on xp it should just revert back, once it does youll see in the dialog box it is flashing let it continue until it says it is complete (Your phone will reboot and you will be at the battery charging screen)
13. WE ARE NOT DONE JUST YET! Now we have to do a Factory(Hard) Reset SO with the device off press and hold the home + volume up + power. release all three once the device boots, let it do its thing. when the device reboots, it will seem to take forever. but it will finally get to the Android setup screen.
Walaa You are back to v11H stock firmware.
How to root after unbrick/revert to stock
1. After you setup your thrive go to settings->Applications and check unknown sources
2. in the same menu click on development and check all three settings in there.
3. Make it easy on yourself and just use the phone browser to come to this thread even easier here is a bit.ly link: http://bit.ly/14EbsSF
4. from your phone browser download the gingerbreak attachment.
5. Install it after its downloaded (if given the unknown sources dialog box refer to step 1
6. Hit Root Device, and let it do its thing, after it reboots, it will be rooted.
Install CWM
1. After rooting via the steps above, open up the play store.
2. In search type Rom Manager and install the Rom Manager from Clockworkmod
3. Open up rom manager and it should prompt you to install Clockworkmod Recovery. Click continue OR click the Flash Recovery button, it will search for your device, but it will pop up for the P500 (old Baseband) SELECT THAT ONE! then click normal install.
4. once it says it is successful go ahead and reboot into recovery via the menu in Rom Manager (allow superuser permissions), to verify that clockworkmod is installed. IT WILL HAVE MESSED UP COLORS, and may come up in the dialog box that an error occurred, THAT IS EXPECTED AND IS OKAY. Use the volume keys to navigate, power to select, and the back key to go back.
There, from this point you should be able to do whatever you want to your thrive that you want. I hope this helps.
Nice work. I have confirmed this method works very well on my thrive.
Thanks for your great work..

Thank you for posting this. I almost threw out the phone because none of the other suggestions seemed to work.
This worked for me, but some critical steps were not mentioned in the post.
My phone was automatically booting into emergency mode. After installing the LG UNITED MOBILE DRIVER, just plugging in the phone (in emergency mode) was not enough. It did not load the drivers, and nothing showed up under modems in Device manager. There seems to be different types of emergency modes. I had to do Back + Volume up + Power and then plug it in to get the phone drivers to install. Once it showed up, I disabled the LG modem.
I also had to install the "msxml.msi" program that you had in the same KDZ_FW_UPD_EN diretcory. Without this, the program was crashing with some error messages (sorry, I didn't write them down).
I also had to run "Windows Enabler.exe" in the same directory. I am not sure what this does, but without it, the program was crashing.
Once I got past all that, at first I thought the program froze because nothing was happening and windows complained that it was "Unresponsive". It took a couple of minutes for some log messages to show up. Once it got going it took about 5 minutes to complete.
Then the first boot took a very long time, around 5 minutes. It seemed stuck on the startup screen, but eventually it took me to the phone initializations etc.. and then it worked fine after that.
This works!!! Period. Surprised the hell outta me!!! I have two P506 that have been stuck in Emergency Mode for a couple years. I've tried countless combinations and KDZ's. It took less than 5 minutes to flash the KDZ per phone. Factory reset, and BAM!!! After about 3 minutes or so was welcomed by the Setup Wizard.
@aestivalisakito
Please add the extra things that were mentioned above by @asarangan to the OP. These are actually critical. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Pro and KDZ Updater kept crashing without them. I enabled Windows Enabler and installed the XML 4 parser. Drivers were previously installed. Tried again and VOILA!!!!
Thanks again

My pleasure I really want Thrive user (small polulation apart from P500) to have fully use this phone. Now I try to flash 4.4.2 Kitkat and battery drained was like froyo unless SElinus was disable from P505 kernel.
Hey nice thread !! Thanks.
I have a P500, and tried a lot of stuffs with KDZ and LGMDP,
your method is close to all of them with some more details,
that for ex :
10 EVERYONE MUST DO THIS STEP EXACTLY WHETHER YOU BOOT AUTOMATICALY INTO EMERGENCY OR NOT! Plug your battery back in, then press and hold the back button + Volume Up + Power. Release ONLY POWER once the thrive starts and then release back and volume up once your in emergency.

I'll try it !! I just think the step by step method is the same with my P500 ...
I, until now, got strange errors with KDZ ("Error upgrade - WPARAM : 100 - LPARAM : 4008") and LGMDP (Error AMSS writing),
have you already encoutered them ??
I'll try it tonight on my P500, with the good Drivers and stock Rom for the P500.
If you think you can help me or has another idea, look at my thread !

It unfortunately didn't work for me ...
Any ideas of what the problem could be ?
@shinobisoft...feels good to have two bricks turn to gold again?

Thank you so much for this!! I looked everywhere and tried multiple KDZ files with various computers and settings, but only this worked! Time to get CWM and Kitkat running on this thing. >
Hey guys I will add the aforementioned items to the original post. Sorry I have been away on deployment and have not been able to attend to this or any of my other threads. I'll get back on it

[Q] Can anyone help me

Phone facts:
LG-F180, S/N: 0066451ae1d458e3
TWRP 2.5.0.0 installed together with LGNPST TeenyBin
From the fastboot screen
PRODUCT NAME mako
VARIANT mako 32GB
HW VERSION rev_11 (&¤)
BOOTLOADER VERSION MAKOZ10f
BASEBAND VERSION N/A
CARRIER INFO None
SERIAL NUMBER xxxxx
SIGNING production
SECURE BOOT Enabled
LOCK STATE UNLOCKED
NOTE: I found somewhere that rooting is NOT enough you also have to unlock, (FreeGee?). Could someone please confirm or reject?
3) Now I turned to “[REPAIR] TeenyBin - Softbrick Quick Fix / Bootloader Unlock [E971, E973, E975, F180*]” using LGNPST and TeenyBin. Finally something happened – I could access the TWRP built in.
4) Then I used ADB to push ROM to the internal SDCARD and recovery to install. But this method failed – tried several ROMs which all gave errors initially. I discovered that the install script pointed at “e975” in(ro.product.device and ro.build.product but the phone reports “geehrc4g”
This is the output in recovery.log when trying to flash ROM
Warning: No file_contexts
script aborted: assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "e975" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "e975"
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "e975" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "e975"
Following the advice of changing the script by
a. Deleting the ‘assert’ line in the script, or
b. Changing the element to what the phone reports did not help
E:Zip signature verification failed: 1
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/thinkingbridge.zip'
Updating partition details...
To ensure working environment I tried to flash gapps which worked perfectly so connection and recovery must be functional.
5) Now turning to: ”[GUIDE] How to UNBRICK your Optimus G - security error, bootloop etc”
I used the method described and downloaded the appropriate KDZ file etc. etc but flashing gives this log:

At the point where KDZ file is extracted the phone reverts from download mode to recovery which is probably why it fails.
I read the thread at xdadeveloper forum "[Q] Unbricking LG Optimus G e975 - using LGNPST, TWRP, ADB". Do all the things suugested but nothing happens.
I am so confused about somethings that are:
In recovery mode it shows that it it is a MAKO product. What is this mean because every thing i know is that it is a LG Optimus G F180 and after searching goole, i find that MAKO is a Nexus 4. So What ROM i have to download and from where?
How can i solve this problem? Please help me and reply me. I tried every method suggested on internet. Many people have same problem stated but no solution is given to them..
My email is [email protected].
Hi,
Yes, you have to unlock and root.
Locked phones are arrangements made between a network provider and a phone manufacturer. So your phone model is locked by your phone manufacturer and it is tied to a particular network provider.
The Nexus 4 (MAKO) and your phone has similar specs, except that Nexus 4 does not support microSD, so you will have to install it from the phone's internal memory (aka "sdcard"). Custom ROMs for phones with microSD are usually installed from the microSD instead of phone internal memory.
Hope this helps.

[Completed] LG E400G stuck in emergency mode, i need a hand.

So my good old Moto G XT1032 broke last week and since im waiting for it to get repaired, my dad handed me over a LG E400G that he uses for his work clients but since he's on vacation now he won't use it for a couple of weeks. The phone was wiped so no important data there, only the device being an tool for him.
The thing is, the phone came with a really ****ty rom, it did awfull sounds when i turned on and off the phone, it was clogged with apps from the carrier that occupied all the small space that this phone has so i couldn't even put Whatsapp or Telegram in.
I decided to find a new rom and install it so i can get something at least usable for the time being, i found the PureOS 5.1 on this forum, looked good, proceeded to install it but the current rom installed by the carrier was blocking the hard reset functions so i had to first flash it to a stock rom. my computer is running Windows 8.1 64 bits so i had to install a Windows XP 32bits on a virtual machine so the KDZ works because it was crashing on me.
After a few attemps on installing the V10C_00 and getting all kinds of errors but the original room was still loading:

Now the thing is, after several failed attempts, i just decided to call it a day and start again tomorrow, bad news, when i unplugged the USB, the Emergency Mode was permanent, if i reset, hard reset, turn on, anything, Emergency Mode starts. I can't seem to find a solution for the problem so while i was writing this i tried to use the KDZ again on the Virtual Machine and even though the loading of the clean ROM failed(i was reading the logs, errors in every line) after it ended the phone booted again to the normal rom and it seems to be working fine.
My question is, how do i get rid of this rom without destroying the phone? I've tried everything i could find on XDA forum but nothing works, the phone just refuses to let go the carrier's ROM.
It's been 4 more hours of trying but i still can't flash the phone. I followed every method i found on the XDA forum, nothing works. Any idea why?
