[Q] GT-P6200 or 6200L ? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

I'm getting some conflicting information and I know that I can get an accurate accounting right here...
I'm told that the P-6200 model will operate on ATT network but EDGE only speed and that I need the P-6200L model to get full 3G speeds.
Is this correct?

I'm on the same boat. Cannot decide which one to get.
I was told you can flash modem from p6200l to p6200 to enable 850mhz 3g. But I'm not so sure. Has anyone tried this?
Here is the link.

I think it's the band frequency, I got this from Samsung's website:
P6200:
3G 900 / 1,900 / 2,100 MHz
P6200L:
3G 850 / 1.900 / 2.100 MHz
Here you can find more info:

So, the correct answer for the ATT network is the 6200L. Can you confirm?

Yes, the P6200L works with AT&T 3G and actually is the model sold on Amazon. I was looking on the AT&T Galaxy Tab 8.9 specs and it works with UMTS Triband,850/1900/2100MHz the same as P6200L.
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/SGH-I957ZKAATT-specs

Not even one merchant on Amazon has the 6200L. Each model is the straight up 6200! Show me where on Amazon I can get it!
and BTW. THIS is NOT a 6200L because I've already emailed the seller and asked. It is a mistake: amazon.com/Samsung-GT-P6200-P6200L-GALAXY-Tab/dp/B007I5E3IK Put a www in front of amazon for the link

Look at this comment from a guy who bought the tablet:
" I bought this tablet because I thought it was model GT-P6200 as that is what the title says. In reality, it was GT-P6200L which has a few important differences. The first is that it did NOT use 3G on the T-Mobile network. Maybe it does on other networks. Perhaps "Unlocked World Tablet PC" was the code-phrase that should have warned me. "
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-GT-P6200-7-0-dual-core-Honeycomb/dp/B00746GVHY/ref=pd_cp_cps_0

I'll call them. And I don't care about T-Mobile, just ATT. But now I wonder: do they make a quad-band variant? One that does 850 & 900?

Yes, you should call because on that link you can see that the specs of 3G Bands are 850 / 1900 / 2100.

So, did you get the information if it is the P6200L?

I called T-Mobile, today. I have the 6200L. T-Mobile started offering unlimited 3G/4G for $20 a month, so I signed up. Turns out that I can only use Edge with this model when using T-Mobile. This is what the T-Mobile tech rep told me, anyway.
I read the info above this post, so I want to confirm. Does GT-P6200L work with 3G/4G using T-Mobile, or not? If so, I need to make some config change. If not, I have to find a new model of tablet to use. I am not going to go back into the dark ages and settle with Edge. Why on Earth would T-Mobile do this, anyway?

No, T-Mobile uses 1.700MHz for 3G right now, but it should work on the new 1.900MHz frequency that T-Mobile is deploying, that's because they want the iPhone to be compatible with their 3G. For now only some regions are covered by the 1.900MHz 3G, here you can read more: http://www.gsmarena.com/tmobile_usa_running_1900mhz_3g_in_some_areas_iphones_invited-news-3537.php
4G will never work since it's the LTE technology and our tablet doesn't support it.

US Sensation 4G Versus UK Model

Sorry - just noticed the Q & A section...
I placed an order with an Amazon UK seller and have received a branded T-Mobile Sensation 4G model - I was expecting a UK model which this is clearly not.
Should I be worried? I'd welcome any comments on:
Warranty - valid with HTC or only via the seller? 2 Years?
3G and 4G bands? Will it work as a HSDPA connected 3G phone here in Europe? Have I actually got a more capable phone with more network bands that I would have for a UK model? It appears so from this: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3922&idPhone2=3875
Any comments welcome. The price was good at £434.20 incl P&P and this is SIM free.
If you can put up with the T-Mobile branding/waiting for OS updates then keep it. Personally, I'd send it back and pay the extra for a genuine unbranded EU model

Hadn't thought about the software. I assume, as we are all, that the Sensation will soon be able to be updated with XDA Dev ROMs. If so there should be no difference then? But would the radio inside this phone currently be optimised for the US T-Mobile network? I know that lots of people seem to think radios version suitability depends upon where you are - I wonder if the radios in US 4G Sensations are different to the ones here in the UK

It's not about Euro model 3G capable or US model 4G capable. The Europe/Asia model Z710e is capable of 4G too. It depends on your network provider if they have enabled HSPA+(4G).
T-Mobile I'm pretty sure they run mostly on the 2100MHz band (in USA they do) and they have been upgrading their network equipment to enable HSPA+(4G).

Well, not exactly. TMOUS uses UMTS band IV (1700/2100). Not UMTS band I, which is what people generally mean when talking about 2100 Mhz. They are different. Most of Europe uses UMTS band I and/or UMTS band VIII (900). 4g/3g is irrelevant here since it is only a marketing term in this instance, as shadowboy23 said. They are both capable of the same speeds on the same networks.
Now, I have not seen definitive specs yet for the TMOUS version. T-Mobile says it is UMTS I and IV, but the box it comes in says I, II, and IV. No mention of band VIII. If I were you, I would return it and get the European version, since it has band VIII, which you may or may not need, depending on your area.
Just curious - what is listed on your box for band support?
Tmobile HTC sensation 4g box says..
Umts 1700,1900,2100
Correct me is I am wrong, but the UK uses 2100 up and down? Best for the op to call service provider and confirm what band they use for data service.

which nexus s

Hello
I apologize now, i have searched but maybe im looking for the wrong answer
I have just bought a nexus s and rooted it via a great guide on here that works for all nexus s's the only problem i am having is now trying to find out what model i have as i bought it off ebay.
under the battery it says GT I9020
but with the A and T available i dunno which one i have.
I will provide more info if required but i dunno which one i have so i can flash the more up to date OTA (ie 2.3.5 + 6)
I apologize again and thank you for help in advance

Matt

TMo 3G - t
TMo no 3G - a

ok so as i see it someone correct me if i am wrong
i have 3 g but i am in uk so
AT&T 3G = 850/1900Mhz
TMobile 3G = 1700/2100Mhz
I am on Three UK and they support 850/2100Mhz
Mock me if i am wrong but i am still confused to which model i have an A or a T
:-(
Check gsmarena.com
Att has 850-1900-2100
Tmo has 900-1700-2100
I hope this helps.
Can u take a picture of the model number in the back. Out of curiosity I wanna see how did that happen
Still both networks support 3G 2100Mhz and after checking what aerial mast is in my area with the network you guessed it its a 2100Mhz so i still have no idea on which model number i have :-(
someone give me a clue!
You have the at&t model. Even though they both have 2100mhz, Tmobile uses there 2100mhz specifically for the upload portion of HSPA+ while the 1700mhz is used specifically for the download portion, without both bands then your phone (any HSPA phone) will not register with Tmobile 3/4G network.

Using ATT skyrocket in Taiwan

I tried search for answers, but no luck.
Story is that I just bought a Skyrocket and cant be happier, but I'm planning to go to Taiwan for a month. I just realized that Taiwan uses UMTS 2100 for 3G and HSPA. I'm getting a lot of different info on the ATT skyrockets.
I'm wondering if I can take this skyrocket to Taiwan and use their 3G/4G networks.
Any input would be helpful.
Best!
edit: I think it will work.
3G or 4G will both work in Taiwan. I was able to use my skyrocket to tether and make skype video calls with no problem.

Did you have to do anything (like switch APNs)? My previous phone (Touch Pro 2) had 2100, but I wasn't able to connect, even though my phone said "3G". My brother's Atrix had the same problem. We couldn't get any data working at all.
Hi, I live in Shanghai, and want to use China Unicom, which uses the 2100 network.
Sounds like from these posts that the Samsung Skyrocket will work here without any problems.
Does it need to be unlocked? Some Skyrocket specs list the 2100 while others don't. That due to ATT trying to discourage others from buying this phone?
Thanks for the info in this thread.

[Q] Unlocked One S from Canada (bands)

Hey guys just wondering if anybody has unlocked a One S (bought from a Canadian Carrier) and tested it out on Wind or Mobilicity.
I emailed HTC asking them about the bands supported by the phones and this is the reply I got.
Fido: HSPA 42 Mbps
Bell: HSPA 42 Mbps 2100/1900/AWS GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Sasktel: HSPA 42 Mbps
Telus: HSPA 42 Mbps
Virgin: HSPA 42 Mbps

Asked them if the other phones had the same bands
I do apologise for the misunderstanding, but the bands would be the same for the One S on each network.
That being said, I will suggest to contact Wind Mobile to verify if a unlocked phone will work to its fullest potential or not. The reason I mention this, is that some providers put a limit on the connection, on an unlocked phone.

So I was just wondering if anybody has tested this out and knows if it works on Wind or Mobilicity by just unlocking it or if the AWS bands are "locked" just like the Galaxy Note.
Wrong. Canadian One S are not AWS.
If we would have AWS onboard we would have the T-Mobile US phone

Are you sure Penta Band ONE S exist in Canada/USA ? read post #3
As for the official HTC site says. HSPA/WCDMA:Europe/Asia: 850/900/2100 MHz
BUT Your links would make sense according to the note Network bands in regions other than Europe and Asia Pacific may be different, depending on the mobile operator and your location.
I too, am trying to find out too what bands does the Canadian version support
Fido , Bell, Virgin all listed HSPA 850 1900 2100 but Telus only listed 850 1900 , so that leads me to believe 1700 is not supported.
However at the same time, the international version isn't penta band, nor the T mobile version... Where are theretailers getting their penta band One S in black?
Maybe the device is penta band from the fatory but carriered modified ?
My Telus One S arrives next week and I will unlock it but ufortunately Wind doesn't
operate in SK so I won't be able to test it.
I tried to look at the demo phone and I couldnt find the menu option to select networks.

The black unlocked international One S is for sure not pentaband as far as I know and supports less bands than the blue version. I am assuming the blue versions are all the same and just branded differently. My suspicion is Fido/Bell/Virgin/Telus aren't listing the 1700 band so that people do not buy and unlock them to use with Wind/Mobilicity.
That's too bad there has to be someone out there that has attempted to try it on Wind/Mobilicity. It's such a pain how every site/company is showing different specs.
The European version will not work with AWS. Currently the only *confirmed" AWS version is the T-Mobile US version. However if S-Off is ever achieved then flashing a T-Mobile US radio could "unlock" the bands in the European version and other versions a la the Snapdragon Galaxy Note.

I am aware the the European one does not have AWS. However I am not asking about the black European model. In Canada we have the blue model just like the one with T-Mobile in the States which leads me to believe that the Canadian version=the American version; I just need some confirmation.

Does anybody mind looking under the cover for the model / FCC ID / Industry Canada certification numbers and reporting back with the carrier they got the phone from and the FCC ID. They should be printed on the label near the headphones / headset jack.
These are the variants available in Canada.
PJ40100: UMTS Band V (850)
PJ40110: UMTS Band II (1900)/IV (AWS)/V (850)
PJ40200: UMTS Band V (850)
PJ40210: UMTS Band II (1900)/V (850)
I went to Telus and Bell today ( the Fido and Sasktel stores didn't have working demo models ), I checked the FCC tags and both of them showed "PJ40110". on the top line.
I didn't look at the FCC ID or IC.

Awesome! Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. Now I can safely go out and buy this with no worries
Please be aware that you will buy an unsupported phone, unlock the bootloader to root the phone, most probably voiding your warranty in the process (there's talk that the root-only (and not requiring unlocked bootloader) method for the NA One X works on the One S) then Sim-unlock the phone (by a paid code or the new hack), find the APNs for your carrier...
... And hope that all works...
I don't want to scare you but make sure you fully understand all risks. Specially if you buy the phone outright and don't have an account on that carrier...
Despite the fact that I can't test data (as it should be locked in my account) here is a shot telling that I'm on 3G UTMS (which can't be done with this SIM on a non-AWS phone like my iPhone).
I got one from Virginmobile had it unlocked it and am now using it on Mobilicity.
The Rep at the store assured me it wont work but i tried it and it did.
Reason for buying from there was because it was on sale.

Don't think D802 will work well on AT&T.. Doesn't have the 700MHz frequency which is the main LTE one on AT&T.. Should have no issues at all on T Mobile LTE..

If you aren't hung up on new, check out your local craigslist for a Verizon branded G2. They are usually listed pretty cheap where I am at (in the $225-325 range on average in excellent condition). They are unlocked, you can flash AT&T firmware on it, LTE works and best of all it has wireless charging built in as a bonus. I have been very happy with mine.
It says under Technical Details:
Network: 4G: 800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz / 3G: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz / GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
So on AT&T you'll get 3G only. It's missing the 700 (primarily) and 1700 MHz (a few markets) bands for 4G.
On T-Mobile you'd get 2G and 3G only where T-Mobile has refarmed the 1700 MHz spectrum for LTE and moved the 3G to 1900 MHz.
I have a Net10 sim which runs on the AT&T network and I have HSPA+ only, no LTE, which is good enough for me
